90% of people are unknowingly sabotaging their brain health every single day. You are sabotaging your brain health without even knowing it. But what I'm about to share is going to give you an incredible competitive edge. And these are the seven most important daily habits the most successful people in the world use for better brain health. And you can too today. So let's dive in. Let's start with sleep. I know you might be thinking sleep really, but hear me out. Sleep is one of the most underrated tools for brain health. And successful people know that without proper sleep, your brain can function at its peak. A Harvard study found that sleep duration plays a critical role in in academic success. That's kind of obvious, right? In fact, each additional hour of sleep early in the semester was linked to an increase in grade point average. The study also showed that irregular sleep patterns like inconsistent bed times and wake up times are tied to lower GPAs. Why does this matter? When we sleep, our brain consolidates memories. It clears out those toxins and repairs itself. It also integrates what you learn during the day from short to long term memory. Without enough sleep, it's not just about feeling tired. You're directly impacting your ability to focus, retain information and make good decisions. So what do successful people do? They prioritize sleep. They aim for seven to nine hours of quality sleep every night. It differs based on the individual. If you want to perform at your best, start by creating a bedtime routine that helps you wind down and ensures restful sleep. By the way, if you'd like some insight and inspiration for a sleep friendly routine, I. I've already shared my evening routine for brain health. You can watch it here, so check it out. We'll put a link in the description and make sure you subscribe because if you're not subscribing, you miss a lot. Number two, Continuous learning. Successful people are lifelong learners. They don't just coast once they achieve success. They are always learning. They are always growing and constantly seeking new knowledge to keep their minds sharp. Sharp. When you learn new things, your brain forms new neural connections. A process we've talked about called neuroplasticity this keeps your brain flexible and ready to take on new challenges. Successful people read books, they listen to podcasts, they take courses and even engage in brain mental stimulation to keep their cognitive abilities in tip toe top shape. If you're not learning, you're not growing. And if you're not growing, you're definitely not succeeding. So find opportunities daily to challenge your brain every single day. The more you stretch your mind, the sharper it becomes. Number three, exercise. We all know that exercise is good for your body. But what's often overlooked is, is that it's good for your body. It's also great for your brain. I often say when your body moves, your brain grooves. Have you ever noticed that many successful people, they work on treadmills or they do their phone calls while they're getting their steps in. You'll often find me exercising, maybe even before I go on stage. There's a reason for that. Exercise doesn't just make your body stronger, it sharpens your mind, too. In fact, studies show that even just 30 minutes of walking a day can significantly improve mental clarity, focus, and creativity. You don't need to spend hours at the gym. It's about staying active and getting your body moving throughout the day. Here's a little reminder. They say sitting is a new smoking. Being sedentary for long periods has been shown to have a negative impact on your brain health. So make it a habit to take brain breaks, to stand up, to stretch, to go outside, maybe a little walk throughout the day. Successful people know that when their bodies are in motion, their brains are in motion too. Maybe it's yoga or it's jogging. Maybe you enjoy dancing or even a little stretching. Get your body moving and your brain will thank you. Number four, stress management. Let's face it, stress is a brain killer if it's left unchecked. Chronic stress has been shown to shrink your brain. It leads to increased levels of cortisol, a hormone that severely impact brain function over time. It affects your memory, it affects your affects your focus. It affects your problem solving and your decision making. Successful people understand that while stress is inevitable, how you manage it is what truly matters. They don't let stress overwhelm them. Instead, they practice things like deep breathing. They take regular brain breaks. They integrate mindfulness or meditation and exercise into their daily routines. Stress management isn't about avoiding stress completely because, let's be real, that's impossible. It's about having the tools to handle stress when it arises so you don't derail your mental performance. In my recent podcast episode with Isabel and Laura Hof, the daughters of Wim Hof. They shared how cold exposure is a powerful practice to help cultivate a resilient mindset and manage stress effectively. Whether you're a man or a woman, learning to handle stress in healthy ways is absolutely essential. And if you want to dive deeper into science based strategies for stress management, I highly recommend you check out my episode with Dr. Aditi where she talks about actionable techniques to manage your stress and improve mental health. I'll leave the link below and you probably watched it if you subscribe, so make sure you subscribe. Number five Healthy Relationships we all know that success is not just about what you do, but also who you surround yourself with. Successful people understand the profound impact that relationships have on both their emotional well being and brain health. Your brain thrives on social connections. In fact, positive relationships, whether with family, friends, mentors, your work colleagues, are directly linked to better mental health.

cognitive function and greater emotional resilience. When you have people who support you and you support them that challenge you and share a vision. Your brain has the emotional and social resources it needs to thrive. So write this down. Your social networks affect your neurological networks. Your social networks affect your neurological networks. And why? Because we have specialized brain cells called mirror neurons that allow us to learn and have empathy by observing the actions of another person. It's one of the reasons over time we adopt the attitudes, the beliefs, the behaviors, those consistently around us. So remember, they say we're the average of the five people that we spend the most time with. So if you want to optimize your brain health and perform at your highest level, start by surrounding yourself with positive influences who encourage you to grow, take action and become your best self. Number six let's talk about nutrition. You've probably heard the phrase you are what you eat. Well, let me tell you, that's absolutely True. Especially when it comes to your brain. In my book Limitless, we had a whole chapter on neuronutrition. Successful people understand that their brain is just as important as their body. Their brain is part of their body and they're intentional about fueling it the right way. Just think about it. Your brain is your most energy demanding organ in your body. It accounts for around 20% of your total energy expenditure, even though it only weighs about 2 or 3% of your body mass. So if you want to perform at a high level, you need to feed your brain the right fuel. What you eat directly impacts your brain's ability to focus, remember, make better decisions, and even manage your emotions. Now, what does the right fuel look like? Everybody is a little bio individual. You could take assessments, microbiome tests, nutrient profile tests. But let's talk about first up, the healthy fats. Your brain is made up of nearly 60% fat and it thrives on healthy fats like those found in avocados, nuts and seeds. These healthy fats are crucial for building your brain and promoting efficient neural communication. And then they're your antioxidants. Foods like blueberries, I like to call them brain berries. Dark chocolate, maybe green tea. They are packed with antioxidants which help protect your brain from oxidative stress. This is the process where harmful molecules called free radicals can damage your brain cells and impair cognitive function. Antioxidants help to combat the damage, keeping your brain sharp and more resilient. And don't forget your omega 3 fatty acids. You've probably heard of these because they are vital for your brain health. Omega 3s found in foods again like salmon, walnuts, chia seeds. They support brain function, boost memory, and even can help reduce inflammation in your brain. So if you want to perform like a high achiever, make sure your diet includes these brain boosting foods. Every time you eat, you're fueling your brain, so be sure you're choosing wisely. Wouldn't put low grade fuel into a high performance car, right? Your brain is your most valuable asset, so feed it with the best possible fuel. Now let's dive into number seven. Embracing failure as feedback. This is one of the most powerful practices that successful people constantly use to propel themselves forward. Most people are terrified of failure. They see it as something negative to avoid at all costs. But successful people, they don't see failure that way. They see failure as feedback. And feedback is the breakfast of champions. When you fail, it's not the end of the road. There is no such thing as failure. Only feedback, it's just data. Failure gives you important insight into what worked and what didn't, allowing you to reassess, to refine and improve. Every mistake or setback provides an incredible opportunity for growth and for learning. The key is not to fear failure, but to learn from it and come back stronger and wiser. It's about developing grit, the mental toughness to keep going even when things get tough. And here's the thing, your brain thrives on growth. When you embrace failure as part of the learning process, you're actually training your brain to be more resilient. Remember success and failure. Failure is not the opposite of success, it's part of it. It allows you to adapt. This is where your growth mindset comes in. Individuals, people with a growth mindset believe that their abilities and their intelligence can be developed through dedication and hard work. They don't let challenges define them. Instead they use them to fuel their progress. So how does this connect to your brain health? When you maintain a growth mindset and you embrace failure as part of the journey, your brain becomes more flexible. This is essential for long term high performance because your brain adapts and becomes stronger even each time you face adversity. Through struggle, you get strength. It's like building mental muscle. Every time you push yourself and encounter a challenge, your brain is creating and reinforcing new connections. And you're like expanding your capacity for problem solving and creativity, your ability to follow through. The key here is to reframe your thinking. Rather than seeing failure as something to avoid, start seeking it as valuable feedback that moves you closer to your goal. And remember, it's not about being perfect. Nobody is perfect. It's about being persistent and always improving. So embrace failure as feedback. See setbacks as stepping stones and watch your brain grow stronger with every challenge you face. Successful people don't fear failure, they use it to become better. So there you have it, seven quick things successful people do for brain health that you might not be doing yet. It might sound like common sense, but common sense is not common practice. So let me ask you a question. What will you do differently today to optimize your brain health? You don't have to do all seven. But what's one thing you could focus on that you may have been neglecting? Maybe you want to focus more on your relationships. Maybe you want to focus more on that brain friendly diet. Or maybe you will embrace failure as an opportunity to grow, to improve. Every small action you take right now, today can have a massive impact on on your mental performance in your future. Remember, your brain is your most valuable asset. The more you invest in nourishing and strengthening it, the better equipped you'll be to achieve your dreams, your goals, to break through limitations and unlock your limitless potential.
