Today we're testing a few of the assumptions of entrepreneurship and leadership, from "fail fast" to "leaders have all the answers" and more, we might even be debunking and refuting some of these ideas, and discussing why they're actually a little bit toxic. I'm joined by guest, Joel Miller, co-founder (with his twin brother) of The Sky Floor, LLC. A marketing agency of two, which has a slightly contrarian view, a non-traditional take if you like, on business growth and how micro-companies can run. Joel shares his unconventional views on leadership and business, we chat about the importance of lifelong learning, the value of small business operations, the need to challenge common business clichés and how staying small can be a competitive advantage. Thanks for listening/watching this episode of Leading with integrity: Leadership talk. If your team's definition of productivity requires running on empty while ignoring or stigmatising health (mental or otherwise), it’s time to rewrite the rulebook! This week I have a conversation with Lesley Waldron that completely reframes how we look at health at work. Lesley is a fantastic health coach tackling the oft-ignored realities of workplace wellness head-on. We discuss the critical gaps in traditional workplace culture and how it handles/mishandles women's health and menopause in particular. Thanks for listening/watching this episode. This week, my guest is Kurt Bush, a leadership coach and podcaster, and he shares some thoughts on the often-overlooked aspects of leadership, from understanding trauma to the differing challenges of leading volunteers and employees. And from the all-too-common struggle with the inner critic to more intentional decisions. We also talk about authenticity, alignment and core values in leadership, practical steps for personal transformation and how to overcome those inevitable feelings of isolation and imposter(ism?) in your new leadership role. We squeeze in some of the big leadership topics too, like work-life balance, difficult conversations, maintaining trust, curiosity and emotional intelligence, and some of our personal experiences. Thanks for listening/watching this episode of Leading with integrity: Leadership talk. One of the things I wish I'd started doing earlier is building networks. Particularly ones full of supportive, people-oriented people. Early in my career I was, at best, suspicious of the term 'networking' because I didn't really understand the concept and thought it was just a pushy sales thing... So imagine my surprise when I first joined ONLE Networking! It's the complete opposite of every bad networking story you've ever heard or experienced and the reason for that, in my opinion, comes down to it's founders. Which is a long-winded way of saying, those very people are on the podcast this week! I'm joined by Kelly, James, and Kierney to talk networking and its many benefits from business to mental health and beyond, leadership dos, don'ts and wherefores, the trials, tribulations, successes and joys of business... Journalism, love, basketball, Captain America and a whole bunch of other stuff I've probably forgotten to mention. Thanks for listening/watching this episode of Leading with integrity: Leadership talk. A lot of the time, the biggest challenge in a company is trying to balance the many competing priorities and as leader-managers in those businesses, we've probably all faced those frustrating trade-offs, like how do I systemize without losing people's buy-in and engagement? One key way is to involve those people in defining the way you do things, and we'll hear more examples in today's conversation because my guest is Marianne Page, creator of Sticky Systems, Speaker, Best-Selling Author. Marianne shares her experience from a nearly 30 year career at McDonald's as well as working with a variety of businesses since then, SMEs and beyond. We talk about the importance of developing your people, creating those systems in the right way, fostering that culture of engagement and ownership within your organization or team. "What if?" is a question everybody has asked themself in life, probably more than once. But for most people, most leaders, when we ask "What if?" it's a backward-looking question. My guest this week has a powerful reframe of the question that's worth your time. His name is Doug Fleener, he's a Personal Adviser for Growth and Change, author of the book "Start With What If" and creator of The What If Rule. We'll be discussing that reframe, how to start with what if, why a shift in perspective can make or break your leadership, and more. We hear Doug's story-so-far and talk about his experiences of leadership both as a leader and follower. Thanks for listening/watching this episode of Leading with integrity: Leadership talk. Leaders: ever had a brilliant idea but struggled to get your team on board? Sometimes that maybe because the idea wasn't so brilliant (I've definitely had that problem! 😅), but other times maybe it's been because getting your point across requires more than just sharing data or hitting the 'transmit' button. It takes genuine presence and a solid understanding of your audience/people. My guest this week is Salvatore Manzi. He's a leadership communications coach who specializes in helping leaders turn complexity into clarity, insight into influence. Salvatore is also the author of upcoming book: Clear and Compelling. During our chat, Salvatore breaks down the real definition of leadership presence so you can finally understand what that corporate buzzword actually means in practice. Thanks for listening/watching this episode of Leading with integrity: Leadership talk. A recurring theme this year has been organisational culture; what makes it work, how it turns toxic (and what not to do!). So on it was a pleasure to talk about it with this weeks guest: Culture Strategist, Behavioral Psychologist and HR Expert, Adriana Vaccaro. We chat about how to redesign your culture for success and the role of conscious leadership in that process. You'll hear about Adriana's culture-minded framework and the 6 core capabilities that drive it, from the relationship between contribution and belonging to the role of technology and beyond. A key takeaway is to think about the way we view culture: as a practice rather than a philosophy, and why leaders should embody the values they promote. Thanks for listening/watching this episode of Leading with integrity: Leadership talk.
