What's one thing that links our health, stress, productivity an even happiness at work? The answer may surprise you (it did me)... There's been a recurring theme of health, mental health & wellbeing this year on Leading with Integrity, and this week we're continuing that trend from a slightly different angle as I chat with Amanda Whitehead, founder of Purposefully Nourished and expert in nutrition, gut health, burnout and stress. Our conversation touches on many of the big questions of leadership from burnout and stress to resilience and the role/responsibility of leaders to their people and to the workplace environments we create. The connections between our nutrition, hydration, rest and physical & mental health, wellbeing at work and more are worth thinking about; and perhaps not as obvious as they may seem. Thanks for listening/watching this episode of Leading with integrity: Leadership talk.Don't forget to visit www.leadingwithintegrity.co.uk and click the green button to sign up for the LWI: Integrity Leaders community, using discount code: HALFOFF24Or contact me directly with any questions: https://www.linkedin.com/in/davidhatch-leadernotaboss/Reach out to Amanda to find out more: https://www.purposefullynourished.com/--Here's some of the tools used in the production of Leading with Integrity and building the community around it:Ausha (hosting & distribution): https://ausha.co/?fpr=leadingwithintegrityPodMatch (guest booking & management): https://www.joinpodmatch.com/lwi_dhTidyCal (booking calendar): https://appsumo.8odi.net/leadingwithintegrityRiverside (recording and editing): https://riverside.sjv.io/leadingwithintegrityHeartbeat (Community Platform): https://go.heartbeat.chat/leading-with-integrity(NB: These are affiliate links where I'll make a small commission should you choose to subscribe, but there's no pressure!)-Have you had a great (or terrible?) experience of leadership? What's your North Star? What values or principles guide you as an individual and (by extension) in your career or business? Not having clarity on these can make every work decision more complicated and difficult. Sounds simple, but it's not always so easy and perhaps this is why so many of us struggle with it, especially when first starting out. Enter this week's guest on Leading with Integrity, Frank Gessner. Frank is a veteran entrepreneur and mentor, he's the founder/creator of LifePilot and a Bloom Growth Facilitator. We discuss the value of knowing your North Star, how to find it and the impact it can have on your life and leadership once you have. We also talk the complexities of leadership, the importance of clarity in decision-making and how every decision has consequences, maybe explaining why founders so often struggle with letting go of projects. Thanks for listening/watching this episode of Leading with integrity: Leadership talk. What does 'AI' look like when it's implemented well? What are the benefits to businesses and (more importantly) the end user? To help us try to find the answers, this week I'm joined by Patrick Bell, an AI transformation partner and doctoral AI researcher. We (mostly Patrick) dissect the operational friction behind corporate artificial intelligence adoption, why so many technical rollouts fail internally despite looking highly successful on the surface and the structural breaking points of organizations under pressure, with examples like the tension between automated customer support bots and human empathy, or the systemic failure of traditional educational models to adjust to high-velocity AI learning. Thanks for listening/watching this episode of Leading with integrity: Leadership talk. A key topic of this week's episode is sustainability in fashion, fair to say, I'm about the least fashion-conscious person you know. So I'm opening this description with a thank you to this week's guest, Lacey Cadieux-McLean, for 1. patiently answering my silly questions on the subject, and 2. teaching me quite a few things I didn't know and had never thought about when it comes to something as simple as the clothes we wear and the impact they may be having on our health and the environment. We also find time to talk leadership, the challenges faced by new leaders, first-time founders and managers, through the lens of Lacey's own journey from project manager to founder. Thanks for listening/watching this episode of Leading with integrity: Leadership talk. Today we're testing a few of the assumptions of entrepreneurship and leadership, from "fail fast" to "leaders have all the answers" and more, we might even be debunking and refuting some of these ideas, and discussing why they're actually a little bit toxic. I'm joined by guest, Joel Miller, co-founder (with his twin brother) of The Sky Floor, LLC. A marketing agency of two, which has a slightly contrarian view, a non-traditional take if you like, on business growth and how micro-companies can run. Joel shares his unconventional views on leadership and business, we chat about the importance of lifelong learning, the value of small business operations, the need to challenge common business clichés and how staying small can be a competitive advantage. Thanks for listening/watching this episode of Leading with integrity: Leadership talk. If your team's definition of productivity requires running on empty while ignoring or stigmatising health (mental or otherwise), it’s time to rewrite the rulebook! This week I have a conversation with Lesley Waldron that completely reframes how we look at health at work. Lesley is a fantastic health coach tackling the oft-ignored realities of workplace wellness head-on. We discuss the critical gaps in traditional workplace culture and how it handles/mishandles women's health and menopause in particular. Thanks for listening/watching this episode. This week, my guest is Kurt Bush, a leadership coach and podcaster, and he shares some thoughts on the often-overlooked aspects of leadership, from understanding trauma to the differing challenges of leading volunteers and employees. And from the all-too-common struggle with the inner critic to more intentional decisions. We also talk about authenticity, alignment and core values in leadership, practical steps for personal transformation and how to overcome those inevitable feelings of isolation and imposter(ism?) in your new leadership role. We squeeze in some of the big leadership topics too, like work-life balance, difficult conversations, maintaining trust, curiosity and emotional intelligence, and some of our personal experiences. Thanks for listening/watching this episode of Leading with integrity: Leadership talk. One of the things I wish I'd started doing earlier is building networks. Particularly ones full of supportive, people-oriented people. Early in my career I was, at best, suspicious of the term 'networking' because I didn't really understand the concept and thought it was just a pushy sales thing... So imagine my surprise when I first joined ONLE Networking! It's the complete opposite of every bad networking story you've ever heard or experienced and the reason for that, in my opinion, comes down to it's founders. Which is a long-winded way of saying, those very people are on the podcast this week! I'm joined by Kelly, James, and Kierney to talk networking and its many benefits from business to mental health and beyond, leadership dos, don'ts and wherefores, the trials, tribulations, successes and joys of business... Journalism, love, basketball, Captain America and a whole bunch of other stuff I've probably forgotten to mention. Thanks for listening/watching this episode of Leading with integrity: Leadership talk. A lot of the time, the biggest challenge in a company is trying to balance the many competing priorities and as leader-managers in those businesses, we've probably all faced those frustrating trade-offs, like how do I systemize without losing people's buy-in and engagement? One key way is to involve those people in defining the way you do things, and we'll hear more examples in today's conversation because my guest is Marianne Page, creator of Sticky Systems, Speaker, Best-Selling Author. Marianne shares her experience from a nearly 30 year career at McDonald's as well as working with a variety of businesses since then, SMEs and beyond. We talk about the importance of developing your people, creating those systems in the right way, fostering that culture of engagement and ownership within your organization or team.
