I grew up lower middle class, assumed I would always be broke. The first four months that Kickstarter was live, I still had my day job because I was worried about losing income and I was doing Kickstarter customer service at night.

My partner Perry wanted to throw a concert and was needing to front 30 grand for it to happen. He thought, this is stupid. Why can't I just propose the idea for the concert online? People put up their credit cards to buy tickets, but they only get charged if the show sells out. That was the energy that we could feel Kickstarter was about.
