Today is a good one because it is the Season 2 cast of Laguna beach. And if you are watching honestly Cavalieri, then by now you've seen a little drama from this night. I just want you guys to know where my mindset was at this night. So I will say, coming off of doing two shows back to back, I looked back on both of those shows and I felt like they weren't going to be good episodes. I just. Things happened in both shows, both of the Chicago shows that were completely unexpected and it just sort of like took the wind out of my sails, you know, I was kind of feeling defeated after these shows and emotional and tired and drained and just. I was feeling a lot. But I will say, when I went back and listened to this episode, I actually absolutely loved it. I loved it. I was laughing. This Laguna crew, we have such a special bond. I love this crew with my life. And yes, Talon too. And I've. I said on the show, but, you know, Talon on its own wouldn't have been a big deal. Like, I can handle that. I mean, I think. Yeah. Was it like a little out of left field? Sure, but it's nothing that I can't handle. I think it was the combination of Talon and then my ex boyfriend Johnny right after and that just got me feeling really emotional also. So this show with the Laguna crew ran way over and in my head I was kind of stressed because I knew we were really far over and I knew I. I had to get ready for another show. But in between the first show and the second show, I had to do a meet and greet with 200 people. So I knew I was going to be racing around, pressed for time. I hate being late to anything and so I was just stressed on stage and it just. Honestly, I felt like I was, I don't know, like obviously I had in my head how the show was going to go and when you have a lot of people on stage, of course it's really hard to stay on track. And that was what happened. But it works. You know, I think it's a really funny, interesting episode and one that really could only be had with your group of friends from high school. I think it's very apparent, the history that we have. And I love that. I mean, I really do. These people are. Are my life. And also, by the way, shout out Alex Merle for dropping major fucking bombs in this show. Because it was really great draw dropping moments and I love her for it. I just love this crew so much. I think this is a really fun episode. And being in Chicago, I have such a special place in my heart for Chicago. I always have, always will. Because I lived there twice. All of my kids were born there. So anytime I go back, I get really excited. And this audience also was fucking amazing. I had a lot of friends and family here. My mom was here and it was just, you know, it was fun. While there were moments I wouldn't necessarily classify as fun, but overall I just love being in Chicago and I'm really happy that I got to spend it with the Laguna crew.

We still, when we see each other, when we talk, even over our text messages, it's like no time has passed. Do you guys think that we have this incredible bond because we went to high school together or because we filmed a TV show together or because of both?

In high school, we were a crew of people that were friends, but then having these moments and, like, being able to reconnect 20 years later and still hang out like a crew, like, no time has passed. Like, we're so lucky to have that. And it's all because of you, by the way, so thank you.

Yeah, I also feel like we were friends first, which was really special about the show. Like, a lot of people are like, were you really friends? Like, yeah, we were friends first. And then the show came and found our group of friends, which is, like, so special that we get to, like, keep. And we're still rocking the red solo cups.

That makes that you guys. Everybody but one.

Wait, but hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. I. I have a different experience because obviously we were all friends. We were friends. We were friends, but, like. Like, we hung out. You, me, like, we hung out, but I feel like they made it.

Had a good pick of people.

Like it was just a good grade. Like you wanted to be in our grade, you know, I know it sounds like so silly, but we had like good people. I don't know.

It did. It's like every other year was cool.

We feel really bad. Okay, let's start with the show and then we're going to talk about our actual high school experience. But when the show comes up in conversation today, is it something that you guys are proud of or are you kind of embarrassed about it?

[Jessica]

I think nowadays proud. But like, ask me that 10, 15 years ago, it was embarrassing.

[Alex Merle]

But you were so funny. Like you were gonna always be proud.

[Jessica]

I didn't have like the weight you guys had.

[Alex Merle]

So me not as proud. I had some special moments on that show. Same to live with. But now having kids, I'm like, oh God, that was so cringy. Like, why did I do that? But you know, you live in your learn when you're 18. I mean, who knows what the hell.

[Kristin Cavallari]

You'Re doing at that point.

But I'm changed now, guys. I'm changed.

[Jessica]

She's like really nice, sweet, nice. But you always were like, you weren't like, you were genuinely a really nice, fun, happy friend, Jessica. Well, I know, I know. But that was like the worst.

I know.

No, no, we were good. I'm totally fine. You actually were like, fine. Yeah, no, we were fine.

You know what I liked about you, Alex? You were sweet and you were the most loyal, incredible friend on the planet. But if you crossed you, if someone crossed you, it was like, that's it, the gloves are off, dude.

I'm just telling her. I do agree, but I feel like that's where you and I were like kindred spirits. Cuz you were the same, 100%. And then like also we like knocked heads because we're, like, the same human, you know? But, yeah, it was fun.

I'll say. The experience was. I mean, I was in a totally different place, mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually. And I mean, I was. I was.

But it's actually really cool to be able to look back, because I can say now that my greatest deficits have become my greatest assets now. And, I mean, somebody that, hey, give.

But seriously, it's like, I look back and it's. Dude, obviously we were young and we were going through the motions of everything, but, like, it was. It was a really cool experience for me personally. I mean, to have our senior year documented, something we can always go back to. I mean, I ended up watching the show for the first time probably 15 years about a year ago, when Netflix put it back on, and I just could not believe it was. What a show, dude. I mean, it was. It was bad. I mean, but it was, like, cringeworthy. I don't know how the show had success that it did. I mean, never would today.

[Kristin Cavallari]

I swear, if Laguna Air today, it would not do well, but so much trouble.

[Alex Merle]

Like, I would also.

[Kristin Cavallari]

Yeah, we would all be canceled in two seconds.

[Jason Waller]

That came out of our mouths.

Oh, my gosh. Or if social media was around. A different time.

But I think in closing to it, though, I. I think it was an incredible experience. I mean, look at what we're able to do today and see where we're at, you know, and it's something to, like, reflect on, and. I don't know. I mean, it's been a wild ride. I mean, I don't know that I would do it again, but I'm very grateful.

But on that note, like, I'm super proud of everyone that's on the show because. I'm sorry, Kristen. I feel like I'm just interrupting. I'm just. I'm really proud. Like, Kristin's obviously built, like, a really successful business. She's extremely smart. We have a lot of people that have built, like, awesome families. You know, Jason's crushing it. Like, the guy is crushing it, and I'm just. I feel like the odds are against favor of people in shows. Like, someone's gotta slip. And I feel like our season. Nobody. What'd you say? I just feel like it's really. That's the one thing I would take away that was good was that you could look back and be like, ooh, I did not like that at all. And change that real, real quick.

Okay, so my best example right now is that my 12 year old loves Wednesday Adams and her formation of her is like, as being like a pick me girl. Does that make sense?

We're like so much older. Like that word's really for the young folk. Right, Whatever.

I digress. Anyways, I just feel like I was able to see a lot of weird insecurities and weird things that I was able to be like, oh, that's not cute.

And so you should probably stop that. So I appreciated the show just for that, so that I could be like, fix yourself a little bit, you know. I wouldn't say the same thing about it. Now I have a 14 year old whose friends talk about the show, so that's not a delight for me.

But really I'm trying to break into that demographic.

He's like, oh my God, your mom is.

They don't even have to watch the whole thing. They just Google little tidbits and it's like watching.

They were like, it's so boring.

That's what I thought. Yeah. No, my kids will not watch their.

Friends come to them and they're like. So I'm like, okay, you guys are.

I mean, Everything. My whole life's completely changed. I mean, I was looking back, I can see how much I. I was super sick. I mean, I struggled severely with addiction. I mean, let's go. And. And I think this meeting.

But it's like. And I don't know, I think it's. It's cool for me to be able to, like I said, reflect back on what. What has happened in the past and see how much has changed. But like, I watched that. Like, when I said we went back and watched it, like, one of the things I took away from was just how sick I was. I mean, I was in the depths of this thing. And again, not justifying my behaviors, take full ownership and accountability. But, I mean, it's just what addiction can do to somebody, how it can rob you of everything. I mean, what you saw is somebody that was just lost, didn't have direction or clarity of where he was going. And the only way I saw out of it was through the bottle. And so it's a beautiful thing today now. And so for me, it's been a very big, growing experience.
