Ken
Ken, do you have any control?
Grandpa Ron
Oh, yeah.
Ken
It doesn't seem that way.
Grandpa Ron
If you keep scoring, don't win. It's your fault, that's what it is.
CJ
Who do you think was a worst kid growing up, me or cj?
Grandpa Ron
Oh, man. I hit this tree. I had all four wheels. Just how long am I going to be around, so I better enjoy what I see.
Evan
We just got sent some of these.
Grandpa Ron
You probably drink anything.
Evan
Exactly.
Ben
They're not bad. They're not good, though.
Evan
No, but, like, could you see yourself on the boat drinking six of these?
Ben
It's actually got a lot more flavor than I wanted.
Evan
Kind of a one and done road beer.
Grandpa Ron
I could see Ryan drinking six of.
Ben
Those on the boat, but why have six of those? And you can have 12 of these.
Grandpa Ron
You know, that's true. You. You got a good point there.
Evan
Nicest party cup in the game right there.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. You don't drink anything.
Ken
I haven't drank since August 31st.
Grandpa Ron
You're better off.
Ken
I haven't had caffeine either since September 1st.
Ben
What was harder to get rid of?
Ken
Caffeine.
Ben
How long till we get you off those nuts?
Ken
Sorry. Only a handful.
CJ
Grandpa, what's the longest that you went without drinking beer or alcohol?
Grandpa Ron
Just recently. I mean, since I had the cancer thing. Other than that, maybe a day. Two. But when I. When I did the cancer, I didn't have any alcohol for, oh, three or four weeks, I found out was kind.
Ken
Of three or four weeks.
Evan
That's got to be horrific.
Grandpa Ron
Wow.
CJ
For a second I thought that you were gonna say a couple months.
Grandpa Ron
Oh, no.
CJ
Well, you were speaking. I was like, no, I saw him every couple weeks. And every single time I'd see you, you'd be like, let's get a drink.
Grandpa Ron
I'm always. You know beer is better for you than pop, right?
CJ
Yeah. I grew up.
Grandpa Ron
Soda is not good for you. So it's either water, beer or vodka, wine, whatever. Beer is easy, so. Well, thank you.
Gavin
There you go.
Grandpa Ron
There's your beer.
Ben
We can celebrate again. You guys didn't hear Grandpa Ron kick cancer's ass? Buddy, let's go.
Grandpa Ron
That was really great. That was really great. And we did that happen. And you guys were there. That was wonderful. I was telling C.J. down here, I went to a deal with Jake a couple weeks ago.
Ken
My. My brother. So is okay.
Grandpa Ron
And with a pickup rally with what they do. And this gal walks up to me, she says, grandpa around this? Yeah. She says, my grandma has cancer. She's the same age as you. 81. Same time. And she was so depressed. And I finally, I got a. Told her, I took her and showed her the videos that you did with the Sea Boys and what you felt like, just like that, she turned around and doing better. And it was the best thing I heard in a long time. I mean, to hear that.
CJ
How much do you think attitude plays a factor in it?
Grandpa Ron
Oh, 95%.
CJ
Really?
Grandpa Ron
I think so. I mean, you know, I would have days when maybe I wasn't feeling that great, and then I would start reading some of stuff you guys do and some comments coming back and I thought, what the hell am I doing feeling down? These guys are great. I mean, people all over the world, we wishing me well. Why the hell do I want to be down when they're thinking about me? And so that attitude just like that would snap me out of it. So I never really got into deep depression, but a lot of people do.
Ben
I mean. No kidding.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. I mean, you read a lot of the comments we got back. People would say, my grandfather or their mother or their whatever got depressed end up dying. So.
Ben
Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
And I guess I didn't realize that you guys maybe knew more about it than I did. After you heard that stage four was pretty bad.
CJ
Well, yours was really bad.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. And I didn't really think it's so bad. I don't know, I mean, it didn't feel that great and I got out of it. I guess I feel pretty damn good now. Like I'm having a beer. Played a lot of golf this year, did some work. So it's a lot of attitude in anything though. You know, the attitude.
CJ
Do they tell you that when you're like going into your first treatments, are they like, you know, keep a positive attitude or when it's like stage four like that, when it's so bad, is it, is it hard for the doctors to even like, give, you know, give you any hope?
Grandpa Ron
The doctor I had when he looked at, said, you know what it was? He said, well, I, I can take care of this. We'll give you a few more years to live, five, 10, whatever, if you do what I say. Hell yeah, I'll do what you say. But when you go into the get your infusions and a lot of the people will such a knobby. This might hurt. You're not, you may not feel well after you've had the shots. Why are you telling me this? You know, just give me some stuff in case it does. It does hurt. And they did, but I never used it. But they warn you about the after effects Which I never had any.
CJ
Really.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. Fortunately I was really lucky on that. I still got the pills they gave me and covered at home pain pills. And you see, after those infusions I had, sometimes you feel nausea and dizzy. It never happened to me. But you guys are always around, keep me sparked up.
Ben
You had to stay young with us dragging you all around.
Grandpa Ron
I do, yeah. I'm serious and I talk about that all the time, actually. I got grandkids and sea boys. Of course. Keep me young. I mean, something to do. What the hell? If you don't have that, you know, it's. But your, your attitude, like you said, Ben, is I'd say 95%.
Ben
Wow.
Grandpa Ron
I mean, you can be sick and you're sick. I guess. Well, what hell are you going to do about it, right? I mean, your attitude, it's not going to make any difference. If you have cancer, you have it.
CJ
Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
You know, so let's, let's do what we can do with it. I had a occasion where a friend of mine, I played golf with his sister in law had cancer and he saw the deal we did on WDY and he was. Tried to tell her about that and she won't listen. And she's got probably another month to live.
CJ
What do you mean won't listen?
Grandpa Ron
She won't do anything. She just. Well, give you an example. He told me one night he gets up and she's living with him now and his wife and she got up and made her had a waffle or toast or something and spilled syrup all over the floor. Right. So next morning he comes down and she's capable of getting around. He comes down the next morning and step in this syrup and what the hell is this? And she said, well, I spilled syrup last night. Well, why didn't you clean up? Well, I'm sick and I want to die. That's the kind of attitude she has. So. And that's not going to cut it.
Ben
Yeah. You know, I think being buddies with these two guys and your whole family honestly has really opened my eyes to how much like attitude manifesting, like, you know, whatever you want to call it, but what you look for, how much you head that direction as opposed to looking towards the bad. You head towards the bad. And I mean in many things it's not like a good attitude can just pull you out of it in, in things like cancer and sickness and stuff like that. But thankfully with good treatment and the.
CJ
Right attitude, you did.
Ben
And we're out playing golf and, and doing fun things.
Grandpa Ron
Absolutely. Yeah.
Ken
Yeah. I Think just even it goes to tie with, like, anything, like having a good attitude. No matter what you're trying to accomplish or do in life, it will do better. I'm not saying it's going to solve all your problems, but, like, let's just say trying to do good in a sport, like having a good attitude going into it is going to make you just much more susceptible to learn and just, you know, evolve, be better and all that, but especially obviously with stuff like what Grandpa was going through.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, yeah. But, yeah, that is. I think attitude is obeyed. You guys all have great attitude. You do crazy stuff, which is great. And people that I talked to, I was telling cj, I went to the football game a couple of weeks ago. Ndsu.
Ben
The college game?
Ken
Yeah.
CJ
Oh, yeah. We were getting tagged in that.
Ben
Oh, yeah.
Grandpa Ron
All the time.
CJ
Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
Oh, my.
CJ
I saw you were there.
Ken
Grandpa can't go anywhere anymore without getting pictures and hassled. Not hassled, but you know.
Grandpa Ron
You know what the good thing about that is? Is that people walk up to me and you say, grandpa Ron, how you feeling? I'm so glad you got over your cancer. This is why. I mean, and that's really good to hear from young people. They're concerned that you know what they are about cancer, of course. But you're feeling better and you're America's grandpa. Yeah.
CJ
My dad was in Alaska fly fishing on this river up in the middle of nowhere, and there was one other guy or a couple other guys on the river. And like, I think my dad was wearing a Sea Boys hat, and the guy was like, oh, I watch Sea Boys. And my dad was like, oh, Ben's dad. And the first question he asked is, how's Grandpa Ron?
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. No way. Yeah.
Ben
That's crazy.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. People are so concerned about. I mean, they. And when we did that, ringing the bell and that, the comments. He probably read the comments that came back, but they're all over the world.
CJ
I mean, Australia on the video or on wday on the video. So our local news network also picked up Grandparon's story. You were just like the poster or like, cancer awareness. Yeah, I thought that was really cool, too.
Grandpa Ron
My idea, when they wanted to do that, I'm. I'm for it. But if we can help somebody get to a better attitude and what the hell, if you got cancer, you got cancer. So let's. Let's live with it and do what we can with it.
Ben
They let you back into the country club after you went golfing with us?
Grandpa Ron
Oh, heck, yeah.
CJ
Oh, my God. We tore it up. Evan doesn't even remember. He doesn't remember.
Ken
Blacked out.
CJ
He doesn't.
Evan
If it weren't for the clubs I bought, I say I wasn't there.
Grandpa Ron
He's convinced.
CJ
Evan is convinced that he didn't meet me and CJ's aunt or your. Your daughter.
Ken
He thinks we're messing.
CJ
He thinks that we're still messing with him.
Evan
No, I think I met them. I just don't believe we had dinner at the club.
Grandpa Ron
You did. You sat right next to grandma.
CJ
That's what's concerning. Oh, yeah, I'm sure we should add grandma. And she remembers vividly.
Ken
You were telling some pretty aggressive stories for my grandmother, you know, you're lucky.
CJ
Yeah, yeah, she's used to worse. But.
Grandpa Ron
But let me tell you what she said. She said she'd watch in the oven Dewey stuff on video, but he's really a nice guy.
CJ
Seriously, she must not have been thinking straight.
Grandpa Ron
You're a real gentleman. Well, I. And I. What the hell you're talking about? That was Evan. She said, I know.
CJ
Well, she has been married to you for 40 years, so, sure.
Grandpa Ron
Maybe that wasn't a gentleman, according to me. I don't know about that.
CJ
But anyway, that was. That was wild, though. Yeah. We went golfing. It would have been like July at this point, and it was less golfing, more drinking.
Ben
Oh, man, we had fun.
CJ
It was just like. Yeah. I think, you know, most of crew is so bad at golfing. It was just like, what are we even doing here? And then Ken is. Every time, like, the. The cart would come by, we would just go, Rudy shots.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah.
CJ
And before you knew it, we just did, like, 17 little fireball shooters.
Evan
You really like Fireball, don't you? That your favorite show?
Grandpa Ron
I like it all. What the hell?
Ken
That's what golf looks like for him. Every single day. He golfs every day. It's just the same thing.
Grandpa Ron
Every.
Ken
What do you mean? That was golf.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah.
Ben
Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
Well, we. We don't drink that many fireballs every day. I'll guarantee you that. The only time was when Gina and you and I. My. My daughter and. And my wife played and.
CJ
Oh, and she got a. Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
And eagle. Yeah. Yeah. And you never had fireballs before, right? No, I hadn't.
CJ
I. I never had. Well, I actually. That was the first time I had ever drank, too.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. Anyway, and we said, when you have a birdie, you have to have a fireball shot. And I remember Ben said, what do you mean? If you have a fireball, you Take. You have a shot. Well, we had an eagle and a birdie, so we had two shots. Yeah.
CJ
And then they just brought a bottle. Yeah, it was good.
Grandpa Ron
That was a good start for us.
CJ
Here's. Okay, let me, let me explain this too.
Grandpa Ron
When.
CJ
When me and C.J. were growing up at Grandpa Ron's, he had a jug in the fridge that was. It looked like orange juice, but it was actually a screwdriver. So orange juice. And, and pre made, Pre made screwdriver. So like you'd come over and you'd be like, oh, hey, hey, yeah, I'm just pouring some orange juice and you're drinking. Be like, that's not orange juice.
Ben
Spicy orange juice.
Evan
It's so efficient.
Grandpa Ron
I have a great story about that. And my brother taught me how to do that, My older brother, when he was 10. Yeah. But anyway, my mom didn't drink and neither did her sister. So my brother, my aunt lived in Milwaukee, so they're gonna. My brother's gonna drive my mom and my aunt take her back to Milwaukee. So they get up early in the morning to get ready to go. Well, they same deal. They don't know the difference between screwdriver and orange juice. Neither one of them drink.
CJ
Well, most people in a sane household probably doesn't have that pre mixed in the fridge.
Grandpa Ron
My aunt and, and my mom drink and vodka screwdrivers. Don't know it. So they get ready to leave. They get in the car, they fell asleep. They slept all the way from Minneapolis to Milwaukee. Oh, my God.
CJ
Who was driving?
Grandpa Ron
My brother.
CJ
Oh, okay. I didn't know where that was stored.
Grandpa Ron
They were in the back seat and they didn't understand why they were so tired.
CJ
Feeling loopy.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. Oh, my.
Ben
That's funny.
Grandpa Ron
He taught me how to do that, so. In fact, they taught me a lot of things.
Ken
Are you still doing the pre made screwdrivers in your, in your fridge once in a while? Okay.
Grandpa Ron
I did it when Ben's sister was living with us too, but I marked it to make sure she didn't get into it.
CJ
Yeah, we weren't sure that you were going to be welcome back on the, on the country club after we left.
Grandpa Ron
Oh, no, no, no. In fact, you guys are welcome anytime. Everybody loved it.
CJ
Oh, really?
Grandpa Ron
Oh, the waiters and.
CJ
Yeah, they loved it.
Grandpa Ron
Well, they should have. You guys had a hell of a ten half.
Ben
It was pretty funny. I have a bunch of buddies that are also members of the country club. I got sent this picture this morning and they go, you guys only golfed once there this Year. But you made the yearly Instagram picture. And here's Evan with his arm around my aunt.
CJ
That's my aunt.
Evan
I wasn't even there.
Ben
It doesn't look like you're there.
Grandpa Ron
Photoshop the picture.
CJ
Photoshop lights, Watermelon.
Grandpa Ron
Oh, no. You guys are welcome there, you know. Wow. We didn't do it. We had fun, that's all.
CJ
Yeah, we did have fun.
Ben
We did have fun.
CJ
So, yeah, we were playing some, like, bunch of different golf gambling games with like, the rest of Grandpa Ron's buddies. Dude, we sat at this table for probably, I'd say an hour.
Ken
Yeah.
CJ
Hour to hour to an hour and a half trying to figure out who owed who money. And at the end of it, it was like, Grandpa Ron made $8, his other buddy made three, but he had to pay two of that to another guy. But he was in the whole $8 as well. So he made six. Six. And we were. We walked away like after an hour and a half. Like, you guys did all that for $12?
Grandpa Ron
Well, I watched Ken threw $20 in. I said, we won.
CJ
Yeah, Ken threw $20 in to tell them to just off. He was like, I will pay you guys $20 to stop this.
Gavin
Math was just going in circles and did not add up. And I was like, I. I just gotta.
Ken
The way it looked like it was adding up was in your favor. You were the one doing the math and you were the one who was like, okay, so you owe me eight dollars, you owe me five. And everyone.
Grandpa Ron
What?
Ken
You ended up with all the money.
Grandpa Ron
I was honest on that. You guys, you guys forgot to collect, that's all.
CJ
What's your saying?
Grandpa Ron
If you keep scoring, don't win. It's your fault.
CJ
That's what it is.
Ken
That's true.
Grandpa Ron
And that's the same goes for cards. You only play cards, you know.
Ben
Oh, that's why you want to come and be our blackjack dealer.
Grandpa Ron
I could do that. I deal a lot of blackjack, actually, with. For games to go. They have the casino parties kind of thing. And I did one two weeks ago. So, in fact, his wife was your babysitter. Yeah. He found out. Okay. Anyway, he told me. Then I saw him a week later because I did. A week, two weeks in a row. And they were both of them. And he wanted me to say hello to you from his wife. I forget her name. But anyway. Hello. He watches.
CJ
Thanks, gramps.
Grandpa Ron
He does watch it. That you were a pretty good kid. Pretty, pretty good. But not the best. Not the best.
Ben
That's on par.
CJ
Who do you think was a worst kid growing up, me or cj?
Grandpa Ron
Oh, CJ once a while would get had a kind of a. You guys heard this story a thousand times. We were building a house and we would stay at different places while was being built. And when.
Ken
How old was I before?
CJ
Just a friend.
Gavin
How old was I?
Grandpa Ron
Sixteen.
Ken
I was 2 or 3.
Grandpa Ron
Well, it'd be 19 or be 2000.
Ken
Okay, so I was born in 96. I was 4.
Grandpa Ron
All right, okay.
Ken
So anyway, okay, they hold this against me. They hold this against me. Like, I'm not kidding you, I can't escape this story.
Grandpa Ron
Tell the story. Anyways, we stay at his house, extra bedroom there. And he comes in up door, he's crying and screaming, no, they can't stay here. And he's crying and go jumping up and down and his mom is trying to control him. Now he's four years old, right?
CJ
Like old enough to know he's going on.
Grandpa Ron
And he's crying and screaming and hitting the floor and doing this. And finally his dad hauled him out, I think threw him in the garage, I don't know. But anyways, I put him in the kennel.
Ken
Yeah, but that was, I don't remember that for some reason.
Grandpa Ron
But anyway, I, I, who was hardest? I mean, you guys were all pretty good, you know, you always, you know, because I always played with you guys. So we did something, but I don't think anybody was really that hard. I don't know what you. Well, you want to say that you were the best, right?
CJ
I mean, I was hoping that you.
Grandpa Ron
Were going to say that one thing about Ben. People are worried about him. He never cried.
CJ
Oh yeah, true story. They thought that I was deaf.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah.
Ben
Really?
CJ
Yeah, they got my ears checked twice.
Grandpa Ron
He would play on the floor by himself and crawl around. 26 months, 9 months or a year. Never cry. What the hell's wrong with a kid? He's a happy kid. Yeah.
Ben
Why are you not crying? Yeah, I can see like everybody's like, oh, he doesn't cry. What's wrong? I can see you Ron being like, I'll give him something to cry about.
CJ
I'm running across the floor and he grabs my leg. I just face plant down trying to.
Grandpa Ron
Get us to hold. No, no, never cried. Now he whines.
CJ
Yeah, whatever.
Ken
I think if we picked up anything from you, grandpa, it's our sense of humor and some of our driving actually. Because, because I recall a story with you. Do you ever remember the game when like you'd be riding with Grandpa Ron? Let's Say he was going from their house to our house, my house, or your house. And he'd say, like, I bet you I can make it there without come. Without hitting, like, stopping. Without, like, stopping at a stop sign.
CJ
To a red light.
Ken
And I remember, like, we'd be, like, cutting through gas stations to go around.
CJ
Red light.
Ken
Like, we were just, like, hopping curbs, like, zooming around. And I thought it was amazing.
Grandpa Ron
Hell, yeah.
Ken
And I remember one time, this guy was getting arrested. They had, like, a bunch of cops. It was me, grandma, and grandpa. And he's like, oh, you want to pull over and watch?
CJ
So we pulled over into the.
Ken
Into the convenience store parking lot. Watch this guy get, like, taken down by the cops. I was like, watching out the windows.
CJ
That's Evan's, like, worst nightmare. He'd be afraid that the cops.
Evan
He's sick.
CJ
He's like, get out of here.
Ken
Get out of your grip.
Grandpa Ron
What the are you doing?
Ken
That's what he'd be saying. Every time he sees a cop, he starts tweaking.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. There was a reason for that, because I thought if C.J. would see that. Don't let that happen to you.
CJ
So, yeah, I mean, it definitely.
Ken
It helped.
CJ
It helped. Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
Not much, but such a good influence. Yeah. Yeah. I did the right things.
Ken
You?
Ben
Lots of speeding tickets.
Ken
We had some pretty good stories.
Grandpa Ron
Not recently. Okay. I've had a lot years ago.
CJ
Well, how many's a lot?
Grandpa Ron
Well, I got three tickets. Reading tickets. In one week, one time. What, two were by the same cop. Right. And to fight them. And I got.
Ken
Of course.
Grandpa Ron
Well, I had an attorney. I got an attorney, and this cop was a small town cop. So the judge attorney made him look so bad because he was trying to judge how fast I was going, and. And he couldn't.
CJ
What, they didn't have a radar?
Grandpa Ron
No, he did none. That. This is back in 1975. You guys weren't even born.
CJ
Oh. So, yeah. How were they giving out speeding tickets?
Grandpa Ron
They would just kind of figure that, you know? Like, I remember him saying I was going. I was 100 miles an hour.
CJ
And the hell were you driving that.
Grandpa Ron
Did 100 miles per hour with a 65 Thunderbird. Okay, so we get to court, and something with the distance and about a quarter mile I was doing this. And so my attorney asked the copple, how many feet in a mile? Well, he didn't know, so how in the hell can you say, I know a quarter a mile if you don't have any feet? A mile is. So Judge threw that one out of Court, thank God.
Ben
Dang.
CJ
And then you were back there the next day for the one.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, well, then I had one. I didn't have a driver's license. Minneapolis.
Evan
How'd you lose it to begin with?
Grandpa Ron
Well, I had a lot. I had a few tickets. No DUIs or anything like that, though, because those days, they didn't bother you. But anyway.
CJ
No.
Grandpa Ron
They tell you to go home. I can. I get picked up, tell you to go home. I'm trying, believe me, if I had it.
Ken
I know.
Grandpa Ron
I remember one time I got picked up with like. I was in high school, I think, and it was like four in the morning or three in the morning. I get picked up by Annandale, Minnesota. I lived in Kimba, which was like seven miles away or whatever. But anyway, he picked me up. I showed him my driver's license, I had a few beers, and he said, are you Ted's boy? That's my dad. And I said, yeah, well, my dad was kind of in politics. He said, if I ever catch you out here again this late, I'm telling your dad, you know, go home. Oh, shit. I mean, nowadays. Try that.
CJ
So you took the ditch.
Grandpa Ron
I went home. I mean, well, it was 4 in the morning. I had to go home.
Ken
Are you able to tell the story about the golf cart when you piled it up in your neighbor's front lawn or. No.
CJ
No, no.
Evan
There were fireballs that day.
Grandpa Ron
No, there wasn't. In fact, it was a three wheeler like you guys had last week. Okay.
Ben
They're dangerous.
Grandpa Ron
And you can tell when you. When you drive those three. They tip. They tip easy. Yeah.
Ken
No.
CJ
Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
No. So I had a few beers, I'm going home. And I.
CJ
In those days, terrible combination.
Grandpa Ron
I didn't live on a golf course when I kept my car at my daughter's house because they lived on the golf course. I. I drive it back to their house, and I take this ground, this corner, Take this corner, and I roll over and this guy's your cop in his yard.
Ken
Roll over in a cop's front yard?
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I rolled a cart over and there's clubs flying all over, bro. Yeah. And I was, oh, if he comes out, I'm dead meat, you know? And I quit throwing my clubs on. Tip the cart back up. I never got caught. Yeah. That's too freaking fun. I know. Right in his. You know. Right in his front yard. Yeah.
Ben
How'd you turn. You were up in his yard driving, like, through his yard with those three wheelers.
Grandpa Ron
It didn't take much.
Evan
Yeah, well, yeah, but you could. Should have been on the road or something.
Grandpa Ron
I was at one time.
Ken
Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
Did I take the ditch?
CJ
Every store something built into those three.
Grandpa Ron
Wheelers take the ditch which side? You know which one. But didn't know and I. They kept so easy.
Ken
Yeah, yeah, we know.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. You guys know why the hell did.
CJ
They ever make three wheeled golf carts?
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, that's the first one.
Evan
Cheaper to put new tires on.
Ken
You could turn pretty tight. Obviously tight enough for it to tip. But there was another one though. I don't know if you can tell that one.
CJ
Oh, go put it in a pond.
Ken
No, you barreled into the front, then the cops got you and then which.
Grandpa Ron
One was that you went to.
Ken
You were at.
CJ
He was in a car. He was in a car.
Ken
You were in a car though, I think. And then you had to call and you ended up getting out of it. Oh, we talked your way out of it, per usual.
Grandpa Ron
Oh my.
Ken
I don't know.
CJ
We don't even.
Grandpa Ron
I'll tell you what happened.
Ken
Couple beers, same thing.
Grandpa Ron
Well, that. Yeah. I was at the country club on a Thursday night, which is men's night. Two glasses of wine. Right. And that day was in winter time because we're still in the ground. That wasn't hot.
Evan
How were you playing golf?
CJ
He wasn't. He was just there, just drinking.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, I.
Ken
He told grandma that he was playing golf.
Grandpa Ron
I was playing cards. We play cards on men's day on Thursdays. So. But I. I got there late and I tried to catch up with the guy. Drinking wine.
Ben
That'll get you.
Grandpa Ron
And I drove to Minneapolis and I had that. I came from Minneapolis.
CJ
How old are you? And you're still playing catch up.
Grandpa Ron
Your buddies are.
CJ
How drunk are you? Probably like a 4 right now.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. Anyways, how to catch up. I drove home and I had a four wheel vehicle but I put it in two wheel drive because roads were good. Right. And from Minneapolis. So anyway, I go and I go directly to the country club, have some good line and I come home and I go around the corner and I step on it. Well, I forgot I didn't have a four wheel drive.
Ken
Were you trying to drift?
Grandpa Ron
No, I would just try to just go home.
Ken
But step on around the corner.
Grandpa Ron
Well, I was. I was just going to take off.
Ken
Like a little fishtail.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. Kind of.
Ken
Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
Drifted. Yeah. I ran there, I hit this tree. So my car is stuck on the tree. Right. Oh, so like it's.
Ben
Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
Was a small tree.
Ben
Do you remember what kind of car you were driving?
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. Blazer okay, anyway, I'm trying to get out and I got put it in four wheel drive now cuz they did.
CJ
He's driving it.
Ken
All of a sudden run again. He's in the front yard.
Grandpa Ron
So all of a sudden all the.
CJ
Honey, we really got to move away from the.
Grandpa Ron
All the lights come on the house, I'm burning on like that and I can't get. So pretty soon here come to freaking cop.
Ben
Shut up.
CJ
No way.
Grandpa Ron
My. One of my neighbors called the cops. So I get. Yeah, exactly. I'm not sure which one. I'm kind of sure, but I don't know. Not there anymore anyway.
CJ
TP their house.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. Oh, I do more than that. But anyway. Anyways, I said I get out of the car and cop comes over. He said yeah. I said I'll be out of here in a minute. Well, I can't get out. So I get out and he checked me and I said I have to go to the bathroom. And the lady's driveway that I was in, I said, can I use your. Bonnie is her name. Can I use your bathroom? Yeah. Nope, you're not using your bathroom. You're arrested. So they haul my ass to jail, right? Oh, I'm two doors from my house. So I call my buddy up who's a county commissioner and I said, you gotta get me out of this. He was drinking too. So he said I gotta find it because he was drinking with me at the club. And he said I gotta. I'll find somebody to get you, come and pick you up, give you. So. But he did call. I didn't have to use any bail. And so this friend picked me up my go. Next day I'm leaving for Las Vegas with my. We're going to a show clothing show. My freaking car got towed away and I'm ready. And so I happened to have money. I was going to Las Vegas, right? So we get a check in at the police station. I get a couple thousand bucks probably or 1500 in my wallet. I got a DUI. So I get a hold of an attorney and I got. So he started checking around and so is my buddy and he said, when was the last time you had checked? You know, for the. How good your fluid is that they check your. The chemical for dui? Well they hadn't changed that for like nine months. Well that maybe not any good anymore. They threw it out of court.
Ben
Wow.
Grandpa Ron
So the bottom line is good to have friends and high places. Oh man. Yeah. But otherwise that's the last ticket I think I've had There you go.
Ben
You've been driving good since then.
Ken
So, like, to preface, these are stories I've heard, like, through my life, throughout my life. Like growing up. Like, good stories like this, obviously. Ben, too. Yeah, just family dinners.
Grandpa Ron
I'm in north Minneapolis. When I was getting to that, I didn't have a driver's license that was suspended. And I have this guy with me. Lights go on. I pull around the corner, says, lee, get over here. I'll take care of the fine and everything. But you take the ticket, you get here and say you're driving. That kind of buddy he is. Gets over and gets in the car. Cop comes over there and says, see your license? I wasn't driving. He was. Oh, what?
Ben
Yeah.
CJ
What the.
Grandpa Ron
That's what I said.
Ken
You.
Grandpa Ron
So then I keep. Nothing. I kept postponing it and postponing. I was fighting it. And finally the cop had to come to court in Hennepin County. Now, Hennepin county is not a fun jail, by the way. You don't want to be there.
Ken
You've been there?
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, yeah, I've been there for a couple hours. Okay, that's enough. So anyway, the cop doesn't show up to testify, so they threw that one out. Oh, wow. So I've been lucky on a few of those.
Ben
Interesting.
Ken
Lucky in everything, Grandpa.
Grandpa Ron
Well, those are, you know, things that got to be careful of. You guys are young, so watch out.
CJ
I think they're a little different now.
Grandpa Ron
Oh, yeah. Now you'd be in jail for a month, so probably.
Evan
Yeah, that's why we behave.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, that's exactly why you behave. I can tell. But yeah, that happens. You get older, you get more mild. Yeah, Grandma doesn't think so, but that's the way it is.
CJ
I just can't imagine what grandma's doing, like when she gets the call, like, sleeping.
Evan
I got my blazer stuck on a tree.
CJ
I need you to go over. I think it's still there. They haven't towed it yet. I need you to try and get that off the tree.
Grandpa Ron
That kind of happened because she didn't know what happened, right? So I go to jail. I go to jail. They get me out. I go home, go in the house. And now it's like 10:30, 11:00 clock by this time. And I didn't hear the garage door. Came in the front door. Well, I really don't have a car.
Evan
So she didn't see the commotion just down there?
Grandpa Ron
No, she couldn't see it. So I said, my car has been impounded. I got picked up. Got my ass chewed a little bit, but rightfully so. I deserved it, but oh yeah, Grandma's put up with a lot, right? Oh yeah, yeah.
Evan
Did you have to buy them, your neighbors, a new tree?
Grandpa Ron
No, I didn't.
CJ
God, I would have loved to have seen what that yard looked like.
Grandpa Ron
I had all four wheels just. And I got, I got down to the grass.
Ken
Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
But I couldn't get off tree.
Ken
They had a little reminder of you in the spring, huh?
Grandpa Ron
Oh yeah, you're right. There was Ron.
Ben
You've gotten pretty. As Ben and CJ said, pretty lucky. Feel like you've been lucky later in life with finding a good lady that puts up with your shenanigans and keeps you in control?
Grandpa Ron
Yep.
Ben
What advice would you give to Ken and other young gentlemen and Gavin.
Ken
And Gavin, they're both sitting here, they're.
Ben
Looking for a lady, they're looking out for love. And all the other people listening. What advice would you give?
Grandpa Ron
Probably a lot different naughty's because girls are a lot different. Right.
Ben
Okay.
Grandpa Ron
I would say that if you're not around them and you miss them, you miss you haven't doing something with them, I mean that's a good start.
Ken
I mean good advice. That's actually really obvious. I was thinking there was going to be something really aggressive to come out.
Ben
No, no, I like that.
Ken
That's really good advice.
Grandpa Ron
And you know, you think, gosh, I haven't seen, you know, Betty or Jane for, for a week. We haven't gone out and she's so much fun. I like being with her. Let's do something whether no matter what it is, let's do something together and find it. When you do stuff together, you find out that you enjoy it. If you're not really want to get in a relationship, well then it's like, well, see you around.
Evan
What if you want that but they don't want it, then what do you do?
Grandpa Ron
Probably find a different girl.
CJ
So Grandpa Ron, straightforward.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. Yeah.
CJ
You've been married three times, you're on your fourth.
Ken
Yeah.
CJ
You're sorry. Divorce three times, you're on your 4th wife.
Grandpa Ron
I married my first wife twice.
Ken
Right.
Grandpa Ron
Okay. And now I only did that because of my daughter.
CJ
What is one thing that you could also tell Ken and Gavin of the signs of a crazy woman to watch out for.
Grandpa Ron
That's pretty easy. I mean it kind of is. And I, when I was married after my daughter's mother, it would have been my third marriage. I was a clinical psychologist. Right. She was, yeah. That was her profession.
CJ
Were you A patient.
Grandpa Ron
I became one. So regimented in what she's going to do at five o' clock you can have a drink. And before that you can't. I did not.
Ken
That wasn't gonna fly.
CJ
How the hell did you get to marriage?
Ken
It was the shortest marriage ever.
Grandpa Ron
Well, her dad was worth $20 million.
CJ
You were gold digging.
Grandpa Ron
Well, not really. She was a beautiful woman. Besides then I didn't play golf for a year and a half when I was married to her. Wow. Not drinking till five. Not playing a golf really doesn't sound.
CJ
What the fuck were you doing?
Grandpa Ron
I don't know.
CJ
Like, actually, what were you doing?
Grandpa Ron
I don't. I don't remember. I mean, it was just blacked out. I was miserable. Not black. Yeah, I'm just miserable. Kind of like.
CJ
Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
You know, And I was on the road during the week, traveling at the time. But I get home and shit. This is like going into a prison cell.
Ken
Darn.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. Well, one time her daughter goes outside and takes a water hose and starts spraying inside the house, the window. Oh, you shouldn't do that again. I mean, no discipline. I found that.
Ken
Except for with you.
Evan
What would you have done to a garden hose in your living room?
Grandpa Ron
I'd go out and kick their ass. Like if it was bad.
Evan
If you would have caught Ben with the garden hose in the kick.
Grandpa Ron
How old he is?
Evan
14.
Grandpa Ron
Oh, then he needs his ass kicked.
CJ
Yeah. I feel like some kids just never had their ass kicked.
Evan
Yeah.
CJ
Growing up.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah.
CJ
God, My dad used to grab me by the ear. That was like. Like when he's yelling at me, grabs me by the ear. Dude, I still have ptsd. Touch my ear.
Grandpa Ron
Oh, I know. Yeah. Well, I had five older brothers. Okay. On a farm and so. Shit. I mean, I didn't have a chance really, because one would kick my ass, the other one would. In fact, I was thinking about that the other day growing up that I never. My parents never lie and never swear. I'm trying to figure out. I never lie, but swearing. I wonder what happened to me there, because I didn't. I bet I was 14 or 15 before I never let my mother hear me swear.
CJ
Yeah. The floodgates just opened.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, kind of. And. But my brothers picked on me. Of course. We had boxy gloves. That's why. I know it's got broken and knock through a window.
Ben
And you were the youngest.
Grandpa Ron
I had one younger. Nine years younger than me. And I had. My other one brother was. Was nine years older and me was kind of. So we'd have boxing gloves so he said, I'll box on my knees. That really doesn't slow down his punch, right?
Ben
No, he's still getting clocked pretty good.
Grandpa Ron
Goddamn stupid. I am. One time, when my parents were gone for the weekend, which was very seldom, we get enough, and we'd fight in the house, he knocked me through our. Our window. We have a picture window in the house. Bang. I go through this window. Like, oh, man.
CJ
So anyways, that could have been like. You went through the window? Did you get, like, cut off?
Grandpa Ron
No, no, no, I didn't.
CJ
Oh, so you got, like, tossed through it?
Grandpa Ron
I got hit like that, and it went backwards like that, right through. But anyway, if you tell mom and dad what happened, you are in serious trouble. So I made up a story there. He had some friends over, and they were wrestling around, so my parents never knew about till years later. You wonder why that window was broken when you got home? Because your one son knocked me through it. That's why.
CJ
That's what happened. One time when I was riding dirt bikes with my brother, I came over a hill. He was coming down the hill, and he hit me, and it broke my foot. And he told me, don't tell mom and dad what actually happened. Tell him that you tipped over and you broke your foot. So I did.
Ken
Yeah.
CJ
I think I just told him, like, the truth a couple of years ago.
Ben
Yeah.
CJ
Yeah. He was just like, I didn't hit you. You tipped over. I'm like, oh, okay. I did. Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
I had a pretty good life, really, growing up as a kid in a farm with five older brothers and whatever. My dad was a pretty good farmer, so we always had what we wanted, but. Well, you guys took you guys there.
Ken
Yeah, it's cool to see.
Ben
We.
Ken
Ben and I, went to his farm that he grew up in, sold the house, still had the barn, you know. What was that two years ago? Two summers ago.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. Barn blew down now, but anyway.
CJ
Oh, yeah, it was.
Ken
It was on its last leg.
Grandpa Ron
It was on.
Ken
We went in there and it was cool. Yeah, it was really cool to see, you know, you were kind of giving us a tour. Like, I'd wake up and I'd come here and I'd, you know, get the eggs and.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah.
Ken
And then Grandpa went up and knocked on the house, and I don't think the people. Did they know that you grew up there?
Grandpa Ron
No.
CJ
Yeah. He just goes up, knocks on the house.
Ken
We were walking around this farm for a while, and then he just was like. Like, they're home. We're going in the barn, doing all this stuff. And I'm like, I kind of just assumed they knew who he was. And then. Yeah, he's like, I'm gonna see if they have any eggs for sale. Goes up, knocks on the door, and she's like, what's up?
CJ
Hey.
Ken
Yeah, I was just wondering if you guys had any eggs.
CJ
For sure.
Ken
I'd love to buy some eggs. And she was like, oh, yeah, they were selling eggs.
CJ
It'd be like somebody that used to live at our shops or the. The farm over there. No, but they show up and they take a full tour around, and we're just sitting there.
Ken
There's a chicken coop at our farm, and they used to have eggs. Imagine they're just, hey, do you have any eggs? And Gavin just goes inside, grabs the.
CJ
Eggs out of the fridge that we got at the grocery store.
Evan
Dude.
Ken
Yeah. Here we go. Five bucks.
CJ
The family that used to own our farm basically just built, like, kitty corner to where it is now, the other.
Ben
Side of the tree line.
CJ
And they still have, like, six chickens that run around that I'm assuming used to live in our chicken coop.
Evan
They love the Chevy graveyard.
CJ
Oh, yeah. So. So these chickens started wandering over. I think they just remembered, like, their old home. And we'll be out filming, and these chickens are just, like, wandering around, and. And, yeah, I mean, I'm thinking about maybe just seeing if we can buy them from them so we can get some. Some eggs.
Grandpa Ron
Get some eggs where? You bet.
Ken
Do you have any advice? Because I've been saying it for a while. So we call it the farm because it used to be a farm, but it's not technically a farm right now.
Evan
It's a content farm.
Ken
That's true, but I'm looking for, like, agricultural farm. What animals would you recommend we get? And then Ken will take care of them, because I just could see early in the morning milking the cattle.
Grandpa Ron
You're gonna. Before you.
Gavin
Before you say an answer already.
Grandpa Ron
No, we know that. Don't drink that milk. Yeah, you might. Yeah, you might want to audit this, But I think if you're gonna have animals around. Ken don't have sheep, man.
Evan
Did Ken get done dirty.
Gavin
Keep them coming.
Evan
That's what you said to the cow.
CJ
Yeah. I think we need a. At least, like, a mini horse over there. You know, something that's, like, kind of low.
Evan
Get me to ride a mini horse.
CJ
I'm thinking, like, wouldn't ride a mini horse.
Ken
We'd get normal horses for all of us and a mini horse for you.
Evan
I know it would become a Meme so quick. Like I just know better.
CJ
Funny everything Cowboy boots with a little hat on.
Grandpa Ron
Why is it a little hat? I don't know.
CJ
Just a little hat for his little horse. Little boots, his little buckle, a little belt buckle.
Grandpa Ron
Do any of you guys ride horse at all?
CJ
No, I don't. With horses we have.
Ken
Remember that time me, Ken and you did it?
CJ
Yeah.
Ben
I drive by that farm all the time now and I think about it.
Ken
I had no control over that horse. That horse was just going wherever it wanted and I was just there.
CJ
Well, horses go rogue. It's like the throttle sticking on a dirt bike. Like it's a bad situation or not.
Grandpa Ron
If you're training right. They don't.
CJ
Yeah. But every once in a while, who's to say that they're not like the.
Grandpa Ron
One horse that he's talking about. He couldn't stop when he pulled back on the rein. Horse will bite the bit. That bit is what goes in the mouth like this. And they'll bite it so when you pull on it, they don't feel it here. So you. But you can buy a special bridle that will make it so they can't do that. They will go rogue if they can bite the bit because you can't control them.
Ken
I ever been a horse guy, like, did you ever have horse, you were riding them?
Grandpa Ron
I used to break horses.
CJ
Really?
Grandpa Ron
Really.
Ken
Like wild horses?
Grandpa Ron
No, no, no, they weren't wild. They would be maybe a horse, a colt was born when they were. As they got a little older, I would start riding them.
CJ
Really?
Grandpa Ron
Yeah.
Ken
So do you guys use horses to like farm, like drag the plows and stuff?
Grandpa Ron
We did in some years because my. Well, you guys, where we lived along the road there and we had cornfield along the highway and if my dad took horses and a corn, two row corn planter, he could make every row straight this way. Diagonal or crossways. It would look perfect.
Ben
Oh, he wanted it to look good.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. And that. And he would do it too. With horses he could.
Ben
So he could go straighter with a horse than he could with a track.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. Oh yeah. We used. Yep.
Ken
What would happen with the horse is like they get like real tired.
Grandpa Ron
They can.
Ken
It's a hot day. Like you have to be pretty like careful with them.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, yeah.
Ken
You can't get to overwork.
Grandpa Ron
You can give them too much water at one time after they worked hard. But normally you don't beat them up. Horses are pretty stable.
CJ
Every time I'm driving out west, I'm always just reminded like this Is really nice being in a car and not being on a horse and buggy.
Ken
Yeah, I think the same thing.
CJ
That's how they found it. They were just going through fields, too.
Grandpa Ron
Did you ever think about going from city to city and a freaking stagecoach across the desert or something? The ride you would have and wooden wheels riding in the back of that for hours.
CJ
Yeah, it's insane.
Ben
We complain about the down road, bro. And our van, we're like, God, this road's getting bad.
CJ
Yeah, dude.
Ken
When you really think about it, just some wooden wheels on not even a road.
CJ
Yeah, I think about that every time. I'm just like, somebody needs to just get him a car and tell them it's all right.
Ken
We should surprise the Amish with a car for a video. Imagine, thumbnail and title.
Grandpa Ron
Don't do a car, do a pickup. They won't drive a car.
Evan
And we get them in El Camino.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, they'd drive.
Evan
They won't know what to do.
Ken
Dunked out El Camino with subs. We'll do yours, Zev.
Evan
No, not that one.
Grandpa Ron
They won't drive a car. They'll drive pickups.
Ken
Well, I didn't even know that they will drive pickups.
Grandpa Ron
What are the people over there by Holly?
Ben
They're all right.
Grandpa Ron
They have, you see the pickups.
Ben
But they.
Grandpa Ron
They won't drive cars either.
Gavin
They do a little bit of technology, though. Like, the Amish, don't.
Ben
They do the vans. They all load up in the van.
Gavin
A van loaded them last week wearing their little straw hats.
CJ
Yeah, right there.
Grandpa Ron
Who are right.
Ben
Shout out to Peter Yoder, ex Amish Mafia. There's a guy who is a subscriber and we've met. Yeah, he's probably listening. Shout out to Peter. And he has a sticker on the top of his Chevy that says Ex Amish Mafia.
Ken
Yeah, he used to be Amish grandpa, and he ran away. I think it was only like six months after he had ran away. He met us in, like, 20, 21 because he had, you know, discovered watching, finding YouTube and all these things. And he was kind of nearby us, and he found out we were doing a meetup. So he came and he, like, starts talking to us and, like, told us the story, and it was just. It was just crazy. But then he came back one day out of the blue, like, we didn't exchange information. He came and he gave us that hat to put on the podcast studio. We should have filmed it, but did.
CJ
He leave the hoodroids?
Ken
I don't know if it was the Hutterites. I don't know where it was exactly.
Grandpa Ron
But Ken is right. The Hudarites have great technology. I used to sell them a lot of stuff. Joe over at Holly in that area there. And I go into his office. He's got his computer there and a deal in cash. He'd have quarter million dollars in a drawer. And I said, you know, where is this? Oh, well, you never get to it.
CJ
You would get there, and you would just become part of their culture.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, yeah.
Ben
They'd use you like.
CJ
Oh, yeah. Well, they would just.
Gavin
He's a little short for them, but.
CJ
Yeah, but they would probably make use of for him. Yeah, they'd find out that he could wheelie a horse.
Grandpa Ron
Well.
CJ
He'D be putting on, like, halftime shows for their lunch.
Grandpa Ron
Actually, Evan, sometimes when these colonies get so large, like 150, 175 people, they have to break loose.
CJ
Well, bring it outside.
Grandpa Ron
That's bringing outside. You don't do that. Need to say what I'm looking for a stud.
Ken
Here's Evan might catch a venereal disease, but. Bad joke.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, they're clean. The clean people.
Ken
I was saying, Evan.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah.
CJ
They're the problem.
Grandpa Ron
Well, Evan.
CJ
Well, yeah, no, they wouldn't let them in.
Ken
They do a background check.
CJ
Evan gets a call. Yeah, a couple of her women have these problems, and everything's like, thanks for letting me know. I'll go get checked.
Grandpa Ron
I can hold my doctor right now.
Ken
Oh, my Jesus.
Grandpa Ron
Well, you are a badass, aren't you, Evan? No.
CJ
Do you think the Amish know, like, what's going on in, like, the country right now, or they just don't care? Like, do you think that the Amish, like, vote? So today is Tuesday, the election day.
Grandpa Ron
I don't know about if the hooter rights vote or not, but they're not. They know what's going on in the world. Like, they'll. They can do so much on their own. Like, for example, people tile fields, you know, to drain. Drain tile. Well, hell, they. They don't hire it done. They go out and buy the machine and do it themselves. And they deal in cash, a lot of cash. No glutton. By poor land. And then they'll fix it up. Fix it up because they have the labor. Labor is no problem for them, obviously, but they don't.
CJ
Like.
Ben
They pay in tax.
CJ
You know, they're not.
Ken
Are they exempt from taxes?
Grandpa Ron
Well, yeah, it's considered religion. Church, so I'm not sure, but they. I. I'm not sure on that, but it's considered a religion.
CJ
So if they're not getting the news, though, you know, they're not getting fed.
Evan
They're probably, like, keeping an eye on things and pretending they're not. You know, there's probably people in there that, like, have a TV in the back.
Grandpa Ron
They have a radio.
Evan
They're kind of like, phony. Or not phony. I don't know. They're just doing what they want and then, like, making sure the people underneath them are doing what they're supposed to.
Grandpa Ron
They do have radio. So I used to go out there a lot and. And I would have lunch with them. And, you know, they are kind of sly. I'd have lunch with Joe, and he's the kingpin.
Ben
Right.
Grandpa Ron
So we go in this hall. Well, he's a big guy. Yeah. He's the man. Whatever. And he controls all the money and all the spending and everything.
CJ
He voted in.
Grandpa Ron
No, it's kind of hereditary. I mean, he passed down, I think, because now I think he passed away in miniature for a while. And now I think his son is ahead of interest. But I used to go out there and I got to know him as well. His wife died. Make cookies for me when I got there.
Ken
I bet those were good cookies.
Grandpa Ron
Oh, they're great. But anyway, I'd have lunch there. He take me, and they ringed him at noon. Everybody eats at noon. So we go in there. We're at the head table, Joe. And then maybe a couple guys on top. And he had me there and all the food you can eat. But he said, ron, you better have a glass of wine. Yeah. I'm doing business with him. Not gonna say no. Right?
CJ
Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
So I have some wine, and, well, this chokecherry wine made out of 190 proof alcohol. Whoa. So I have a glass of that. Jesus Christ. I'm sitting there having. Eating. All of a sudden, everything is going, ron. What's the matter with. I suppose Joe? Oh, man, that's like drinking straight alcohol.
Ben
Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
And I drank almost a glass full of it.
Ben
You were drinking a little. It was Pinot Grigio.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. Anyway. And of course, he laughed about that, you know, but he was smart guy. I mean, he run the computer and they go to auctions. And you could go out there maybe on a Monday, and they'd have a John Deere tractor. Tires burned off of it, nothing left of it. Right. You go back a week later, and that thing is, like, brand new because they bought it that way.
Ken
Oh.
Ben
And they fixed it up.
Grandpa Ron
You go back a week later, it's, like, brand new. They have an electrician shop, a carpenter shop, and beautiful cabinets. Guys can do anything.
CJ
We got to bring some of our stuff over there.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, yeah.
Ken
What'd be actually a really good idea?
Ben
Gav, can you throw on that hat for me for a minute?
Grandpa Ron
Just to get the visual?
CJ
What if we sent Gavin to learn a thing, an apprenticeship?
Grandpa Ron
I got a couple of names out there for you guys.
CJ
I don't know, Grandpa, if we want to be affiliated.
Ken
Yeah, we might be better off just starting fresh.
Grandpa Ron
No, they kind of like me because I bullshit with them a little bit and whatever. I gave them good deals.
Ken
What were you doing out there selling.
Grandpa Ron
Them or what kind of business were you doing? I had to salvage stuff from Can Am Trucking, and we'd have truckloads of stuff that was delivered, but people wouldn't accept it, and the manufacturer didn't want it and the buyers didn't want it, and then Bob would charge them for storage. So all of a sudden, it's ours, right? And I was selling it to them like a pallet of peanut butter, for example. Be less than half price or whatever it may be.
CJ
So I don't want to get, like, too political, but I'm curious what your take on this is, Grandpa.
Grandpa Ron
Oh, my.
CJ
I don't want you to get too political either. Let me preface that. But being that today's election day, people watching this know, like, who the new president, who the new president is, I have seriously zero, zero inkling, like, what's going to happen or who it's going to be. But I'm curious if you've ever, like, in your lifetime seen, like, this much division between the country. Never between, like, Democrats, Republicans. It seems like it's like oil and water right now.
Grandpa Ron
Never. You know, the parties. Let's go back and let's use Democrats, for example. Let's take the John F. Kennedy 1960s or whatever. Completely different party. Look at Robert Kennedy right now. He's doing Republican, right? Seems to me that they do a lot of untruths and the press is brutal, and I don't know why that is, the money there or whatever.
CJ
Back in the day when, like, the opposing candidate that you wanted to win would win, you know, you kind of just accept it and move on, right? Like, it's like, oh, the people chose what the people wanted, right? It was like a fair and honest election, right? So, like, on the Wednesday after the Tuesday of the election day, you know, would the country kind of just accept it as it is?
Grandpa Ron
Pretty much, yeah.
CJ
Because it's like, well, this is our president now, you know, we kind of like, this is our guy.
Grandpa Ron
But the technology is a lot different nowadays, of course, and people can do different things. Smart people can. I mean, they really can. I'm not really a big Trump fan, but I like his policy and I look what he does and I look at what you are, you guys and your kids. I mean, I'm looking at crime we have now, looking at the border that we have now, and inflation and things like that. Then you look at the other side and they really don't have a way to stop that.
CJ
Policy aside, I'm just curious as to like, like how you've seen over the years, I mean, however many different presidents you've, you've had in your lifetime, you know how you've seen just, I guess the effect of it on the world because, like, at the end of the day, how much is the president really going to affect, you know, our day to day lives? Not that much. But how much is, you know, the people that you're surrounded by? Like, if, if, like there's so much division.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, that's true. You lose friends and people would speak to you.
CJ
But it just seems like there's like more of that. Like there's more of, like.
Grandpa Ron
That's right.
CJ
It's like a less of a group where it's like, oh, no, he, he likes Trump. Or like, no, she likes Kamala. And like you like, look at them in like such a different light.
Ken
It's almost like the, the country is like being torn apart within or just trying to elect a leader, a new leader. But it's dividing us when we should all be united as one. It's technically us versus everyone else. But we're. We can't even get along ourselves.
Grandpa Ron
Well, they call each other names, in my opinion. If Republicans, for example, weren't running Trump and had another person running for office right now, and you look at what's happening in the world, would be a landslide for the Republicans. A landslide.
CJ
And I didn't necessarily think that was like the best move, but it's like it wasn't even close.
Grandpa Ron
I understand that. Yeah, but you got. People don't like his personality, that's fine. You have to like his personality.
CJ
I mean, this might sound crazy because everyone knows, like, who won, but like, I just see, like, if Trump wins, like, people that hate him are going like, you're gonna just hear about it non stop, non stop, non stop. And if Kamala wins, people that love Trump are gonna just be like, it was fake. It was, it Was rigged. It was that. So it's like, yeah, yeah.
Ken
There's not. There's not gonna be an ending.
Grandpa Ron
There's not going to be a solution, in my opinion. What. Whoever wins. But say my. My candidate doesn't win any other person. Let's see what they do. And you got to live with it either way.
CJ
Exactly.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah.
Ken
Either way, you got to get up the next day. No matter who gets elected, that's your president, and you got to keep doing what you got to do, do what.
Grandpa Ron
You got to do.
Ken
That's all you can do. And really all you can do.
Grandpa Ron
And it, again, it depends on, you know, you got your Congress and you have your Senate.
CJ
Yeah. I mean, most of the time, it's a lot anyways.
Grandpa Ron
But you got some. Some programs that really go, because I'm older, go against what I. I believe in, like the transgender in prisons, for example, you know, and if you transgender, that's fine, but why should the taxpayer have to pay for when somebody's in prison? Right? I mean, that kind of thing.
CJ
Really? I've never even heard of that.
Grandpa Ron
Oh, yeah, That's Harris's deal. If you're in prison, they should be a lot. If they want to be a transgender, they should be allowed to have the surgery.
Ben
While you're in prison.
Grandpa Ron
While you're in prison.
CJ
So then do they get switched?
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, whatever they are.
CJ
No, no, no. Do they get switched? They get switched to, like, a woman.
Ken
Be a bad play, realistically?
Grandpa Ron
Basically, yeah. Yeah.
CJ
But I mean, I've been pulling that one.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. Yeah. And you look at, like, what good.
Evan
Would go into an all women's prison be without my dick?
CJ
I don't know, but something tells me you'd want to find out.
Grandpa Ron
Go by yourself, Go buy yourself a pack of dildos. But, yeah, I mean, you know, some policies like that or something that beyond.
Ben
What I think be interesting to see what happens.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, it will.
Ben
From a week.
Grandpa Ron
I hope it works out. I. You know, that's the truth. Personally, I think a guy like J.D. vance for Trump's running mate, I mean, this guy makes a lot of sense. He doesn't call people names and he talk. He tells it like it kind of like it is. And you get a guy like we have in Minnesota, Tim Walsh. I hope you. Tim, you get in now. You see this. Hope you don't shoot me. But I mean, a guy like that, I mean, it's serious. I mean, it is.
Ben
Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
Let's see what happens. It is what it is. You know, nobody works out yet. I. If I have people who vote for Harris or friends of mine. That's fine. You vote for who you want. I don't care. But some people don't see it that way.
Ben
And that's what I think. Yeah, I was getting at that. So crazy that the world so.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah.
Ben
So torn.
Grandpa Ron
Right. I mean, you have your opinion. You can do what you like.
CJ
Can you remember president like two running mates that had any kind of division, as much as there is not this much.
Evan
Has it been like a smooth like escalation to like where it is now or is it a little up and down?
Grandpa Ron
Like it may be up a little up and down. I mean, there's like. For example, I like Bill Clinton. I thought he was a good president and he was great for the.
CJ
Because he was a dog or.
Grandpa Ron
No, no. Yeah, he was more than that. I mean, so he had a little fun on the side.
Evan
Nothing wrong with that.
Grandpa Ron
You should be president. You'd be a good guy.
Ken
Oh my gosh.
CJ
Holy shit.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. And if I look at and Republican side and I look at George Bush second, he was weak. Weak president. His dad was pretty good. You know, Jimmy Carter was bad. Ronald Reagan was good. Dwight Eisenhower was terrible. But that's the way it is, you know, in those days. This year it's really bad. Ev.
Ben
If you could be president, dude, what would be like the first thing you change?
Evan
You could drive anything, anywhere.
Ben
Unlike dirt bikes.
Evan
Yeah, like. Like going down the highway.
Grandpa Ron
Whatever.
Evan
Whatever you got. Just, you know, maybe a little different way to pay for the roads. You don't got to buy tabs and license. License plates and all that.
Grandpa Ron
Bogus.
Evan
You know, just get a little more slack on that. The transportation side of things. And I think it would make this country a better place.
Ben
There you go. President.
Ken
Ride your dirt bike on have something to do with dirt bikes?
Evan
Yeah, I mean, I'm kind of stand up for quad guys too, you know, I'm not leaving anyone out.
Ben
Thanks, buddy.
Ken
Do dabble in quads from time to time inclusive.
Grandpa Ron
I would be a lot bigger on.
Evan
Crime, but not like motor vehicles.
Grandpa Ron
Oh, no, no, no. I'm talking about, you know, nowadays you can and steal stuff if it's under $900. They don't even prosecute you. That's bullshit.
CJ
I saw a post the other day that said. Well, it was actually a photo of like a T shirt and it was priced at $900. And then next to it was like a wallet that was $900 and said everything in this store cost $900 and the discount is put onto the product when you rung up. So if you steal from this store without us ringing up the product, you're stealing at the value of 900, which is, you know, grand.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, genius. Great idea.
Ken
It is sad that it even has to come to that, though.
Ben
That'd be great for Micah's inconvenience store.
CJ
Oh yeah, that would be.
Ben
The price isn't real. There's a discount applied at checkout.
Evan
You have no idea what it is. It just says you have to know.
Gavin
What the discount code is for it to apply.
Ben
There we go. Now we're talking.
Grandpa Ron
What is Micah going to have a.
CJ
Yeah, he's starting a store. We're at somewhere like really inconvenient.
Grandpa Ron
Oh yeah.
Evan
A couple miles outside of town. Okay.
CJ
Yeah. So we were thinking of like different things that Mike could do like at his inconvenience store. One would be, you know, like the parking lot would be. Would be like just a mile down the road, but there'd be a shuttle bus that like runs between the parking lot. But the shuttle bus would run every 30 minutes. But there's a 15 minute parking meter at the parking lot. So if you don't pay for it after 15 minutes, you get parking tickets.
Grandpa Ron
Oh my.
Ben
All the boxes are backwards so you can't see the labels of anything. Like is inconvenient.
CJ
You have to buy off the ingredients.
Evan
They don't accept cards, but they also.
Ben
Don'T give out change.
Grandpa Ron
What a deal that is.
Gavin
He only accepts pennies.
Evan
The gas pumps actually have a hand crank on them.
Grandpa Ron
It'd be interesting to talk to him a year after he has it.
CJ
Yeah, Mike's big on like starting businesses that don't work though.
Grandpa Ron
Well, retail business is tough.
CJ
Yeah. Well, I mean his hot dog stand still doing really well, but he kind of took the foot off the gas with his skate park.
Ken
Even charge anyone to get in. It was free.
CJ
And doing it for the kids. Yeah, and then he just gave everyone a bunch of stuff.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah.
Ken
Money and skateboards.
Ben
You guys get that buffed out?
Gavin
Can 75% of it taken out?
Ben
It's still there.
Evan
Ken, I saw one of your employees today was running some sick south park Heelys.
Gavin
Oh yeah? Yeah, he bought some Heelys last week.
Evan
Did you notice any increased productivity?
Grandpa Ron
No.
Evan
Was it a decrease?
Gavin
Both flat.
Evan
I was going to say, just don't count the time that everyone probably had to take a test drive in the Heelys. Other than that moment, it was.
Gavin
It was. That was fine.
CJ
Is everyone test driving the Heelys?
Gavin
Nobody liked them.
Ben
I. I drove over There this morning I had to park a trailer and at about 8:57am I could hear the music outside of the building. Yeah, it was bumping. Dude, it sounded like a club.
Gavin
They had the speaker really loud.
Ken
Ken, do you have any control?
Grandpa Ron
Oh, yeah.
Ken
It doesn't seem that way.
Gavin
I don't care about the ox cord.
Ben
But do you feel like you're learning because these guys are a little bit younger than you? Do you feel like you're picking up their young person traits?
Gavin
It is interesting, some of the music they listen to.
CJ
How about the words that they say?
Gavin
Oh, they're not that young.
Ben
I heard you guys listening to the Hawk Tool podcast.
Gavin
Ironic that they put that on because they put it on just to torture people. The one guy puts it on just because the other guy hates it so bad.
Ken
Is it bad?
CJ
I keep seeing like, talk to him memes.
Gavin
It's so bad.
Ben
Yeah, but I mean, everything I see, dude, on shorts, it's got like 3 million views.
Gavin
Take it for a listen. It's the worst thing you'll possibly listen to.
Ben
What's worse? Bad baby. Or talk to a.
Gavin
Talk to her.
CJ
Have you heard about the Hawk Tua girl?
Grandpa Ron
No. What is that all about?
CJ
Hawk 2. We pop it up.
Grandpa Ron
What's one move in bed that makes.
Ken
A man go crazy every time?
Grandpa Ron
Give him that hawk, too, and spend all that night. You get me?
Ken
What do you think about that, Grandpa?
Grandpa Ron
I don't know.
Ken
Yeah, she became very famous after doing that.
CJ
Yeah, like insanely famous.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, if she worked. If it worked. It works.
CJ
It worked for her.
Grandpa Ron
Y.
Ben
There you go.
Grandpa Ron
There you go.
Ken
Wild times.
CJ
Grandpa, did you watch our reckless golfing video?
Grandpa Ron
Yes, I did.
CJ
What you think of that as a golfer?
Grandpa Ron
Well, I. I think probably I wouldn't. Wouldn't want to get in your way while you guys are driving for number one. It's hard for me to say that because I. I've been with you guys and doing that stuff, so, I mean, I know how. How it is kind of. I mean, you guys don't really wreck anything. I mean, as far as golf course goes, you wreck your. Your carts and shit. But sometimes you look at driving through a sand trap, for example, you know, is, you know, if you're a golfer. Oh, God, I don't know about that.
CJ
Pretty bad golf etiquette. Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. Driving. You guys never drive on the greens. That's not a problem. You know, other than that. I say you go in the water, hit a tree, roll over. Big deal, right?
CJ
Yeah, it's. It's like very Little to no course destruction. It's just all right, right?
Ken
Yeah.
CJ
Our own golf carts.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ken
You trying to hit the last causes more destruction with divots we're taking with the bunkers.
Evan
They run a tractor through it in the morning, fluff it back up.
Grandpa Ron
I understand that, but a lot of people don't. Well, I'm a golfer, but if I wasn't a golfer, Geez, you know, because when you play, you rake it and you do this.
CJ
We raked it.
Grandpa Ron
I. Oh, I know that.
CJ
We always after you even.
Evan
And let me tell you, that was a lot of raking, the whole thing.
Grandpa Ron
And Ben even straightened up the weeds at one golf course.
CJ
Leave it better than we found it.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah.
CJ
When Gavin went in the pond, you know, when. When Evan pushed Gavin in the pond.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah.
CJ
Gavin actually took garbage out of the pond too, because he was in there. So we were like, oh, grab the garbage while you're in there.
Grandpa Ron
Absolutely.
CJ
We'll leave it better than we found it.
Grandpa Ron
But I'm the wrong person to probably ask that. But if I were trying to be really, you know, impartial or whatever you want to call it, you know, driving the cart through the traps, think you might maybe ruin the edge, you know?
CJ
Yeah, it doesn't.
Grandpa Ron
No, I know.
CJ
Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
But could. But people see the concern.
Ken
You didn't know us. If you didn't know us and you just saw that video, you would think that's not cool.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, I don't know about that. I would think maybe. Well, I might.
Evan
I don't up to go golf and have some fireballs.
Grandpa Ron
I'm for that. Yeah. Yeah.
CJ
Grandpa on fireballs. And a three wheel golf cart is causing.
Grandpa Ron
You guys still have that three wheeler? Yeah.
Ben
Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
I can show you how to drive it.
Ken
Oh, my man.
Ben
We get you and Gavin together.
Gavin
Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
There you go.
CJ
I can't see that.
Evan
I can see it now. An obstacle course. Grandpa teaching Gavin how to drive the Harley properly through it.
CJ
I cannot imagine that would end well.
Grandpa Ron
No, probably not.
Ben
I was talking with a guy, and he was actually from the town where we. Where we did that at the course. And he goes, well, you know what? You just used all the parts of the course that I didn't want to use anyway.
Grandpa Ron
Good. Yeah.
Ben
He goes, I don't want to be in the bunker. I don't want to be off in the side. He goes, you know, I'm trying to be on the fairway in the green and goes, I don't even know if he drove on the fairway the whole time.
Grandpa Ron
So well, yeah, true.
Ben
I was like, I like that attitude on it.
CJ
Yeah.
Evan
We certainly didn't take too many divots.
CJ
That's true.
Grandpa Ron
Well, Ken may have when he played the moriad.
Gavin
Just a couple.
Ben
That was him just trying to go divots, though.
Grandpa Ron
They weren't divots. They were beaver tails.
Evan
When I played high school golf, I was on the driving range, and my golf coach came up to me and said, what the hell is wrong with you? You're digging your own grave. That's how deep my divots were.
Grandpa Ron
Oh, my. But I think on those golf videos, more what you do with. With the equipment, with your carts and stuff, you know, when you tip them over and run into each other and go in the water with them, that's no big deal, you know?
Ben
I mean, what do you think of that 80 horsepower golf cart?
Grandpa Ron
Oh, that's a dandy.
Ken
Would you like.
Ben
Pretty nasty, huh?
Grandpa Ron
No, I don't think I'd like it. I may like it, but I don't think I should have it.
CJ
We were gonna bring it over, and we were gonna. Yeah, we were gonna, like, do a. Like a prank on you of, like, putting you in it and then having Evan rip off down the road. But we were like, ah, this probably so dangerous.
Evan
Long story short, you didn't trust me.
Gavin
Yeah, it also really is a sticky.
CJ
Throttle, but, yeah, we gotta get that.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, very dangerous. What? It would be fun someday, though, you guys, to come up and bring it up, and we'll be playing golf, and we'll start passing everybody on the course.
CJ
It's so funny.
Ken
Yeah, it's so good.
Grandpa Ron
That thing moves.
CJ
It does. And it's, like, really well built. Like, it's actually. It's a little bent up. I don't even think we showed, actually, what happened to it, but Evan hit Gavin, so we got to get that fixed.
Grandpa Ron
Well, golf carts are built pretty well.
Ken
Yeah, we know.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. You guys, you should be a tester for some of these golf cart companies, maybe.
Ken
Oh, Yamaha hit us up easy.
CJ
Go hit us up, Send us a fleet of them.
Evan
I do think it's. It's debatably the most dangerous vehicle we have in our fleet, you know? You don't think nothing bad can happen. It's just a little golf cart.
Grandpa Ron
You don't have any protection?
Evan
No.
Ben
And no.
Evan
The roofs are not solid. They flip. And then to be able to go 80 miles an hour, you get yourself into trouble awfully quick.
Grandpa Ron
Well, yeah. Well, that's unusual, of course.
Ken
I mean, there are only.
Grandpa Ron
There's not Many of those around. Evelyn, I hate to tell you, but.
Ken
How many times in your life have you seen someone flip a golf cart on the golf course when it wasn't us or you coming home from.
Grandpa Ron
Well, I've got it myself, but I saw a guy tip in the side hill one time and that was just because he made a bad turn. It was nothing major.
Ken
So it doesn't happen as often as we'd think. Like every time we go golfing. That's bound to happen.
Grandpa Ron
Well, you make it happen.
CJ
Golf course just have such a low center of gravity. You really gotta, you, you know, put yourself in a bad situation. Like our buddy Gavin did. He found out what it looked like flipping it.
Grandpa Ron
I tell you. You know Harley Davidson used to make golf carts.
CJ
Yeah, that's what we got.
Grandpa Ron
Oh, okay. I had one of those.
CJ
The three wheel one.
Grandpa Ron
Three wheel. And I left it. My daughter borrowed it one night and left it at the club because he went to some place to eat besides club. Whatever. Anyways, there was a wedding that night. The next morning I go to play golf. My cart is floating in number nine.
Ken
No way.
Grandpa Ron
Oh yeah, yeah. Sitting out there, of course, the three wheeler, you know, it comes up, that's up there like that and there's a pair of shoes with it. So the pro is all worried that calls the wedding party. Anybody missing because we got a pair of shoes and a golf cart out there. They just took the golf cart which did was setting by the deal. Anyway, we pulled it out and that thing still ran.
Ben
Hey, there you go.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah.
Ken
Why would Harley Davidson make golf carts? That does not seem like a Harley Davidson thing to do. Obviously they don't make them anymore, but.
Grandpa Ron
What? Yeah, Columbia. Well, I bought a new Harley Davidson at red one. I had. Remember that red card I had the four wheeler.
CJ
Harley Davidson made four wheel golf carts too?
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, that was the last thing they made. And when it was done, they would.
Ken
Have probably stuck around if they made them sound like Harley's.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah.
Ben
Imagine a Harley hour and they probably.
Ken
Would have stuck around the loudest golf.
Ben
Cart on the course.
Evan
But it's really slow.
CJ
Well, we've been thinking about maybe doing a Harley swap in our Harley three wheel golf cart. But there's only one way that could end with Gavin driving it.
Ken
The last thing he needs is more horsepower.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, you should put straight pipes on that.
Evan
We usually try to like keep the carts a little low key. You know, we got to get away from the pro shop.
Grandpa Ron
We were what, 50 yards from the pro shop. Here's Ken right Through the sand trap, at least. Wait, you get to pass the number one team. Remember that. Get past the number one tee box or number two tee box before.
CJ
Yeah, King gets all horny.
Grandpa Ron
I suppose he does. Yeah.
Ben
Yeah.
Gavin
You got to start early. You got to use the whole course.
Grandpa Ron
I'll give you credit for that, I'll tell you that. Wow.
CJ
You know, kind of just to wrap everything up, you know, after beating cancer. Grandpa, I'm curious what your outlook on life is after going through something like that. If you. It gives you a new appreciation for things or if it, you know, makes you kind of feel like, you know, more things are more important than others, or if you wish you would have done other things. Like when you're in a stage like that, where's your mind at?
Grandpa Ron
That was one aspect of it. Like right now you look at death, for example. Not a big deal, probably. I mean, I have a lot of friends that I went to funeral today. And you see, and you get older and it's going to happen. So you're not really afraid of it. You know, I mean, it could happen, but you're not really afraid of it. And so I'm going to do what I'm going to do and not worry about it, but I know it's there and I'm not really afraid of it. Maybe 10 years ago, I might have been afraid of it, but after that, I watch what goes on with people and your attitudes, and I probably have more sympathy now for people than I did before and more depth in what they're doing, you know, because how am I going to be around. So I better enjoy what I see. Just the attitude is that it's just kind of different. I mean, I. I love to see you guys succeed. I mean, that's very important to me. I love to watch that. What I see happening nowadays that I like. It's wonderful. What? I don't like it. Just forget it. I'm not gonna argue about it. Just. But what I see certain things, I like it. I like it. And then you think, well, it's worth living for a while to see some of this stuff happen. You know, doesn't. It doesn't. You know, maybe a shitty attitude, but that's mine.
Ken
A newfound appreciation on life.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, kind of. Yeah, really. You think about all the good things in people, and I kind of found that out again. Getting back to all those comments we had about when I had cancer and prayers for Grandpa Christ, I counted 3, 500 of them on that one.
Ken
Yeah, it's crazy video.
Grandpa Ron
And you Think, God, there's a bunch of good people yet in the world. Because most people have a bad attitude of what some people are like nowadays.
Ken
The thing is, you just attract, like, everyone to you because of your attitude. It's so contagious. And that's why everyone just loves you. I mean, everywhere you go, you're just like the star of the room or whatever. You're. If you're in the video, you're the star of the video. And I think it just goes to your attitude because you just. You just have a very positive, happy, outgoing attitude. And everyone wants to be around that.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. Well, if you don't, you know, hate is a bad thing. What the hell? People are people, and you gotta live with it. So you're not gonna change them in many cases. So if you don't like them, ignore them. But the people that you're out enjoy it.
Ken
Something else that you do is like, if. If you were in, like, a group of people and they were all saying something negative about, like, another person, you always, like, say something positive.
Grandpa Ron
There's something positive about everybody.
Ken
Right. You know, but like, you. You, like, just don't. Don't really let the bad talk continue on. You switch the conversation to something positive.
Grandpa Ron
I hope so. But like I said. Yeah, you guys have really been good to me. I mean, I'm inspired. I have hell, new energy. And I could talk about doing stuff and what you guys are doing and whatever, and it gives you something to look forward to. Yeah.
Ken
Something new.
Grandpa Ron
Something new. Yeah. Something going on. What's going on now? Whatever. Stop. The old bullshit stuff that. That you want to forget about. And the negative stuff. Yeah, the negativity is bad thing. But what. There's the saying about you use less muscles to smile than you do to frown or something like that. I don't know what the hell to.
Ken
Do is, but yeah, that's the thing. Yeah.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. Really? Yeah.
Ken
It's easier to smile than frown.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah.
Ben
It is great to live by.
Grandpa Ron
You guys are crazy. So that's okay.
CJ
Well, there we go. All right.
Grandpa Ron
I know you are. That's great. It's wonderful. And I, you know, things I hear about you guys and everybody I talk to, I mean, it's just like, I don't care what age they are. They just say, God, there's a bunch of nice guys. They're just good guys and just do crazy stuff. And people are happy to. I've talked to people that when watching your video since you started, for Christ's sakes. And that was like, when I was at that ball game. I bet 20, 30 people said, I've been watching Seaboy since they started.
CJ
Yeah, I always loved you that.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah. So I said, well, great. Keep on watching. Yeah. Go back to merchandise. Wide open. Let's get some shirts. Right.
CJ
Yeah. Well, thanks for coming on again, Gramps.
Grandpa Ron
Well, hey, it's fun.
CJ
I always love sitting down and chatting with you and Sharon. You with the rest of the world. You know, me and CJ have. Have, you know, heard a lot of the stories, but they're still funny. Every.
Ken
So many more. So many more.
CJ
But it's been fun to get to show the world, you know, introduce the world to you.
Grandpa Ron
If we can do anything positive, that's all we're here for.
CJ
There we go. For you, too.
Grandpa Ron
Yeah, they are. Yeah. Gosh, yes. I've got some good stuff back. And I consider all the young people, you know, come up to. Hey, I'm Grandpa. I'm Grant. I'm glad you're doing beat cancer. How you doing? You're doing well? You know, I'm doing fine, thank you. I mean, kids, 18 years old, 17 years old. You know, even. Even the. We had a restaurant. One of the gals there knew it was Grandpa Ron. And so before I left, she gets her friends and they all come over, three of them, they want a picture taken and, oh, how you doing with your cancer? I'm glad you're doing well. These are four young gals that are working there. I mean, that's really nice to hear. You know, of course they stop everybody. You know, they're busy. We're busy right now taking the picture. You're gonna have to wait to be seated. I mean, but it was. It was fun.
CJ

Ken
