Well everyone, welcome back to Live Wild podcast. Now this week we're going to be diving into gear and do a rundown of some of my favorite gear from 2024 as we near Thanksgiving weekend coming up next week. You know, I know a lot of this stuff will probably be on sale and so I figured I'd just do this now. It'd be a great time to look at some of my favorite things that I got to use this year. Some of the stuff that I got to try out, some of it's new, maybe some of it's tried and true. So we're going to dive into the best gear of 2024 and kind of run through what I'm thinking of as an advanced pack dump. Okay. One thing I want to talk about though before we get into gear is I'm going to be talking about gear, but I also love to give away gear. So I've got a field to freezer giveaway that is going on right now. It's gonna end this week. So if you're listening to this podcast, make sure you either go to my website, RemyWarren.com or I will also have a link in my bio. Like you click on my Instagram page and in the little bio thing there, you can find the link there as well. So either on my website or on my Instagram page, this field to Freezer giveaway. Here's what we've got. I've got a Weatherby Mark V Live Wild Rifle. I've got a Peak 44 Teton tripod. I've got the Montana Knife Company live wild elkhorn Skinner, the one that they made for me. I've also got a meat product. So your meet your maker. 1 horsepower dual grind grinder and their chamber vac sealer. So that is a, I mean thousands of dollars worth of gear right there. What an incredible prize package. Everything you need to just get out and go hunting. For the most part, you just need a tag and a license and you're ready to rock and rol. So I've got that giveaway. Now. Another thing that you might not know, talking about gear, all this stuff, I feel like I don't even know. There probably is, but I give away a lot of gear and you may not even know it because don't even talk about it that often. But pretty much every single one of my emails that go out, I have some gear that's given away, whether it's my product, whether it's another company's. We give away something nearly every email just for being on my email list. When an email goes out, you know, we give away something so it's worth it, you know, for those that are on that list, you're automatically entered. You don't have to do anything and I really don't care where you're from. It's just, I just do it as a thank you guys. You know, I know like email boxes get inundated with stuff. It's like this is a little way of my giving back, taking the time to, you know, have that there. The other thing that I've been starting and you might notice if you read the email, like this isn't. Wasn't even intended to like trick people to read the email. It's not that, that it's just the fact that I wanted to give because like everybody on the email list is there, whether whatever they're paying attention or not, they're entered and then there's one winner. So I've been starting this other thing where you can go in and you enter and it's like it's at the bottom of the email. It's like for another chance to enter. And the odds are way better than on the email list. All you have to do, you go to the bottom, you click it and then it just has. You do like some, like you get one for like if you're already subscribed to our YouTube channel, like every time you do it doesn't matter, like you're, you just click the thing, it gives you an extra entry or whatever. Subscribe to the podcast. Like if you're listening, you're listening to this podcast. You're probably subscribed to the podcast, whatever. If you're already doing those things, you're already additional entries and I'll give one away that way. So like last week I gave away my new game bags. I gave away. And then in the additional thing I gave away Stone Glacier backpack and more game bags. And the odds of that were pretty awesome. And then I also gave one away on Instagram. But if you guys aren't on that, you're missing out on a lot of free gear. I mean, I try to do a lot of this stuff and try to work some things to get stuff to give away. A lot of the stuff I just buy myself or take out of our store. So that's just something that you should know. But there is that other giveaway going on right now. So we're going to talk about gear, but there's ways to win the gear as well. So a lot of the stuff I'm talking about on this podcast you could, you could walk away with next week for free. That'd be awesome. So one of the things that I like to do, especially before majority of my gear episodes, is I like to mention that a lot of the companies I talk about are companies that I'm sponsored by. And I also like to mention that I think that there's probably a misconception out there. At least the way that I do things might be different than the way other people do. You know, I like to give really good, fair gear assessments. And like I've said in the past, I've had a lot of hands or my hand in a lot of development of products, a lot of behind the scenes work with a lot of companies. It's part of what I do. But when I work with a company, it's not because a company comes to me is like, we're going to pay you to do this, that and the other thing. It's because I love the product and I start working with a company in some capacity. So I kind of match the products that I like with the companies I work with. And I'm very fortunate, I feel like, to be able to do that in this space where there's a lot of stuff out there and there is a lot of great stuff out there. But the stuff that I use, you know, I might sort switch companies now and then, but generally it's because there's a product out there that I, you know, I continually try stuff and I'm like, okay, I really like this and I like the way that they're Doing things and what have you. So within the companies that I work with, I do get to test and try nearly everything that they make, which is awesome as well because I get a really good in depth, I'd say trial of what's out there. And some of this stuff, like some of the things that I've worked on with some of these companies, you know, I might get to use it a couple years before it comes out and like see it from the development process of its inception of just an idea. What do you think about this? To. Okay, here's prototype. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Okay, now we're gonna come out with it. Here's the final version. And so for me it's awesome to be able to talk about gear. And also I have like that background in gear development and a lot of product testing. I've become a guy that is known for destroying a lot of stuff. And so I guess that's a good thing, right? So I do get to product test a lot of things and put a lot of things through their PA basis. Just recently or this year. One of the fun things that I could do with Matthews is the Proving Grounds film. So I was, I have lift x bow number 000001. Whatever it is, it's the first one like I got the first one that was ever made which is awesome. And I got to hunt with it because I had such an early hunt this year. So it's cool to, to be able to, to run it through its paces. And man, I've had like a incredibly successful season Proving Grounds film on that this week. So just a couple days ago you can find it on my YouTube channel or on the Matthews YouTube channel. That was that Thule elk hunt that I talked about earlier this year. And it was just, it's cool because it was not only that hunt but I, I took it on my moose hunt, Wyoming elk hunt this year, also took it on my Nevada mule deer hunt. So I had a lot of, a lot of great success with it and I'll talk about when we talk about bows, but just getting stuff like that where I can, I can run through the paces before it comes out and really get to sample and test and be behind a little bit of gear development. Now this year is a little bit different too because as a self proclaimed gear junkie, I actually on my website open my own store. So a lot of the things that I'm going to talk about are actually in my store and I'm not necessarily just trying to drum up business which, hey, it's great. You know, if I can use this podcast and sell a few things, great, you know, whatever it benefits and keeps the podcast going, of course. But also a lot of stuff that I have on there is because it's like really good gear and I, I really believe in it and I, I feel confident selling it, you know, putting my neck out there and being like, I, I would sell this especially. Of course I would. It's something that I use and, and talk about a lot. Of course I would, I would have it in my store. So, so I, I will talk about that too. Some of the stuff that can be found in the store and then there's just some stuff that's like random that maybe I tried out or, you know, maybe you didn't even think about. So we'll dive into the gear rundown. I thought it'd be good due to. This is one of the things I like when people, you know, give suggestions and things. And one of the things that I keep getting is I think I continually keep doing these podcasts a little bit earlier, like, man, I really wish I would have known about that product. You know, I used to do like my Christmas gear guide the week before Christmas and I'm like, that's, that's how I shop, right? And then people be like, and then I do it maybe like closer to Thanksgiving time. Now I'm doing it a full week ahead so you can be fully prepared for any sales. And I do know a couple of behind the scenes sales. So like, and mention what's coming up for those that are thinking about picking up some gear, whether it's for yourself or gift or whatever, because it's nice to, nice to get it on sale. So let's dive into this, this gear dump. And you can't start a gear dump without backpacks, of course, you know, Stone Glacier is the my pack of choice, my pack du jour, if you will. And look, if I was to break it down and say pick out of their entire lineup, they have so many options. I've tried most of their pack. I haven't tried them all. The approach 2800, I think is my favorite day pack. I just like the configuration of it, the size and I like how the load shelf pops off real quick without really having to take much of the pack apart. I also like how the tripod and spotting scope are easily accessible. I really love that pack and I, I even take that pack on hunts where I probably should have a bigger like multi day pack, but I really like it and so the approach 2800 is one of my go tos then the next one would prob probably be the Sky Talus 6900 or I think the other one's the Sky Guide. It's just a little bit larger. I think it's like a, I can't remember off top of my head, 74, something like that. I think like their packs are light and they can become real small. I use the Sky Talus as a day pack a lot. I also use it for a lot of my overnight hunts, multi day trips. Alaska 10 day hunt. That's what I took. So you know, it just, it's got a lot of utility over multi day hunts. It's also got a lot of utility as a day pack and they're fairly expensive packs. So if you're like, hey, I'm just going with one and done, which one should I get? I'd probably go with one of the larger ones like the sky Talus 6900 or the sky Guide. That's just, it's a workhorse. It can go down really small. The thing about the approach, every time I take it, but I also carry like some camera stuff and other things. I was like, I wish I had a little more room but, but the Sky Talus I find that I have enough room for kind of whatever gets thrown my way. And then you can throw that lid on the top for extra, like a little bit extra room packing out or if you need some more gear, multi day hunt, you can got the lid which actually adds a lot of utility and space to it. So those are my pack choices. Another thing in the vein of Stone Glacier is we got to be a part of the development process of game bags. And Stone Glacier came to me maybe two years ago and was like, hey, what would you like us to make? And I was like, I know there's a lot of game bags out there, but I just feel like the pillowcase style could be improved. And I know that you guys are the best at making things better and so it was cool to, to be a part of that process. And, and so we've got some live wild game bags. They also have them on their site, but we've got some of our branded ones as well. Kind of a collaboration with them that we dropped earlier, just this week or last week. There's limited quantities, but I really, really like what we came out with. So the, the couple of the different things with these game bags, you know, like game bags, right? You think? No, there's not much technology in a Game bag. It's like a. I mean I've used everything from used hotel pillowcases. Sometimes, sometimes I'm like, I forgot my game bags. I better take this pillowcase. Used hotel game pillowcases to like expensive lightweight game bags to now these, right? And the thing I like about these, they're. They're extremely durable. There's a good weight to durability ratio. I think they're. They're definitely probably the most durable game bags out there. They're made out of a 70D rip stop nylon which if you know anything about it. The thing that I always kind of had a problem with with the game bag is like they're just kind of hard to clean sometimes. Stuff would stick in them, wouldn't wash out real easy. Then you got to wash them multiple times. You got a bunch of junk like, like pieces. And I think like I've cooked a lot of meat in my washing machine and dryer. These hose off so easy like they're. Everything kind of slides off. It's almost like a watery pellency but still, you know, it doesn't. It's not like too hot for the meat in them. It allows the meat to cool properly. A couple of the features that I really like because I, I think sometimes podcasts, you know, going to these gear dives, I can go real deep into some of the aspects of the gear that I like. And having a big part of the development in this and working with those guys and kind of seeing the behind the scenes, I feel like I get. I can speak to it really well because I've tested it more than anyone I would imagine. And one of the things that is just absolutely game changer, the handle on the bottom, super, super beneficial. Like you can lift it or two people can lift it. Heavy quarters, heavy bags, you know, is really nice. Also it's got a buckle system. So instead of having to just. You can still tie it on if you need it a different height or whatever you want to tie it. But sometimes when you're by yourself it's kind of hard to get it up on the tree tie it so you've got that handle now. And then a buckle system just clips and can hold all the weight of a quarter which is. It was just really beneficial. So that's something that I like. And then we've just got like a reflective logo and stuff like that on it. So at nighttime headlamp you can flash it around, see it pretty easy. If you're just doing a game bag check in the middle of the night from your tent. So I like to do keep it at a distance and hit it with a light every once in a while. Make sure nothing's. Nothing's in front of those reflectors. It's not supposed to be there. Or I guess if a bear grabbed one, you can maybe find it easier. Probably shouldn't go chasing after game bags in the dark in grizz country and you should definitely hang it in a way where they can't access it. But yeah, I've never had that problem. But that comes from stories that I've heard from friends. So that's something that's nice about those game bags. So they come in like a, you know, in a load cell. So it fits in your. Inside your stone glacier if you want. Not a load cell, sorry. But just like a, I don't know, one of their organization bags. So if you have a stone glacier bag, like it's easy to find in there and it's nice that you can keep them all in a bag. Works pretty well. So I really like those. Those are available on our site and it was just fun to be a part of that process. And I think, like, I honestly think that kind of changed the game bag. Game, if you, if you could say it that way, they're just really awesome. So I think that that's definitely a cool product that's out there this year. Brand new. We really wanted to be able to get them out before the holiday season. So they, we, we've been working on them for a while and they're here. I think one of the things like you know, they're, they're primarily for a lot of like they can definitely fit any l like the large one can fit any elk. Definitely boned out. It's pretty tight. Like there's not a lot of wasted space on so it's pretty tight on a, on a big bowl. On an average sized bowl, you know, it all fits fine. But on a really big bowl, like it can be pretty tight. It was to save a little weight there, you know, be minimalist. But also like it does fit, you know. So the large one is for elk sized animals. I put, I used it for my moose this year and then the medium ones for like mule deer, pronghorn, white tails, that kind of stuff. Stuff. One of the things that I alluded to earlier, we'll go into kind of this archery category. The Lift X new bow by Matthews. Like I said, out of anyone that I know, I've probably had the most time hunting with it or you know, There's a couple other guys that, that got some prototypes early as well, I think. But, man, I. So, you know, bows come out every year and it's like, well, how do you make it better? I really liked, as you guys know, I've talked about before, I really liked the lift, the lift bow. It's been super accurate. It's a little bit more speed. It's still extremely quiet. Like everything I want in a bow is in that bow. The X1 of the. It's essentially just taking the lift and making it like slightly better, but better in a way that for me is huge. So the benefit to it, the newest feature is you can. The cams are on kind of a drive system, so you no longer have to use mods to shift the cams. Now, if you're new into bow hunting or you don't understand how big this is, how huge this is, I'll kind of explain it. So when you're tuning your bow, the. The best way is to get a center shot. And the thing that these Matthews bows are awesome about is you know where the center is. Everything's like built into the riser. So you've got your. If you got all the integrated stuff, you got your rest right there and can you know where the center of the center is. And everything's set up right now to tune it sometimes based on the shooter, based on the way that you grip things, all this stuff, you might be sending that arrow out, not straight. And so what you do is you can move the cams left or right to adjust for that. Now often this would have to be done in a bow shop and with like a bow press. And then they put these top hats in and moves the cams over and all, all this stuff, which is great, right? You got to be at a bow shop or have a bow press or have like certain degree of knowledge to do this. And then the other thing about it is when you're like say at a bow shop, you're shooting at their targets through paper and getting it paper tuned. Paper tuning is great, but if you go back and listen to a podcast I did with Brian from day six, one of the things we talked about is broadhead tuning. So I shoot, I'm a big, as you guys know, big proponent of fixed blades. Broadheads. I like a like a keep it simple, stupid type broadhead designed for good penetration, essentially two blade broadhead. And often people have trouble getting broadheads to tune. So what I mean by the tuning is getting your field point your broadhead to hit in the same hole with this lift X, no bow press needed, I can micro adjust these cams. So essentially what I did was I went out, I sighted the bow in 20 yards with my field tips. I did shoot it through paper, get it paper tuned. So I'm. So I've got a good baseline. So with a perfect tear in the paper, my broadhead was still. Now I gotta remember this, right? I think my broadhead was hitting down into the right or just to the right of my field tip, like probably 6 or 8 inches, right at 60 yards. So what I did was I, I just sighted in the bow for the field tip on an arrow that was paper tuned. Then I went out to 60 yards and shot my broadheads and saw the difference because at 60 yards you can, you know, at 20 it was like a little. And then started to be a lot more at distance, so I went to 60. I don't know if I've ever broadhead tuned a bow at 60 yards. And so what I was able to do was then match my. By adjusting the cams in the field, like micro adjusting, match those broadheads to hit exactly where those field tips are hitting 60 yards. If you've ever, like, had a trouble tuning a bow or getting your broadheads to fly the same, being able to do that at that distance was next level. Like, it increased the distance that I could shoot those broadheads accurately with my field tips and really got like, a very true tune for the way that I actually shoot, which is, which is incredible. So, I mean, like, I've never had a bow that I think I've had more confidence in. And so you're like, well, even out at distance, right? I'm not saying it's just for shooting a distance. What it means is, like, if that arrow is coming out straight for the way that I shoot when I'm shooting that broadhead, because that broadhead flies more true because it's being steered by the broadhead than just like a field tip. Let's say I'm in it 20, 30, 40 yards. And like, I have a little bit of a, A different grip or I've got like an animal that moves and I. My form isn't perfectly right. The margin of error that I miss by Instead of being 3, 4, 5 inches is like, like an inch or a half an inch. It's like, it tightens everything up and allows for less margin of error if you do something not great in your shooting form in those heightened hunting situations. And so for me, like, it took my favorite bow that Matthews has made and made it like that much better for the way that I hunt and the way that the type of equipment that I use. And I think like anybody could benefit from that. So that's the rundown of that lift X kind of in depth, but that I think, you know, it's cool to be able to talk about because it literally just came out a few days ago. And so it was good timing on this to be able to talk about it. I still really like, I mean I still shoot day six arrows. I don't think you could ever get me away from day six arrows. Like I, I love everything about them. I like the fact that like there's a lot of arrow companies out there that you know, you can buy arrows from. But these are like, like it's two people in a room fletching these arrows by hand and like cutting them for you and being very precise and like putting. These are like, let's call them. What's that, like what's that buzzword, bespoke or something like that? No, it's like these are artisanaras, I guess if you could call it that. They just like everything about them is right and they're put together by people that really know what they're doing. It's not a machine doing this, it's a person. Like they're custom type hand assembled arrows and I don't think a lot of people realize that. So I've got, there should be some on my website. We're trying to get a bunch made up so that the order process a little faster. So like they'll be pre fletched but still hand fleshed or whatever. And then they'll be cut and inserts and everything to put onto your specifications. And then I still, you know, I shoot their evo broadheads just because I do believe that they're the best design. Find broadhead for penetration and you know, use it for everything. Like look at my wife's elk this year. Her, her bow is just above like whatever the legal poundage is. It's a, a small bow, a small draw length. She shot her bullet 40, was it 47 or 48 yards, something like that? Almost 50 yards and buried it to the fletching and like after the first step, that arrow came all the way through and like that's the kind of penetration you want from your bow and broadhead setup and that for that reason it's just really hard for me to get away from it. I do see the value in certain situations, mechanicals and certain situations, whatever but, like, man, when you just have good success with something, it's hard to get. It's hard to get away from it. And that's why, like, you know, I started shooting these, and it's just, like, I've noticed that with a properly tuned bow and now with that, like, the combination that I have right now is just absolutely insane. It'll be hard for me. I know next year they're gonna be like, test this new bow. I'm gonna be like, it's gonna be very hard for me to get this lift X out of my hands just because, like, I. I think we're. We're attached to the hip. It was like a. It was like a match made in heaven for me personally for this year. Like, this is the most successful season I've had in a long time. Last that last year, I feel like a lot of things went wrong. Not with the shooting or anything, not with equipment, but just, like, tough hunts this year. Like, things have been falling into line and. And also, like, I think that I've made some very difficult, like, my mule deer this year, that I just had so much confidence in the bow and just that, like, I don't know. I like that shot. Still to this day, I'm like, it was a. It was a tough shot, and it was a perfect shot. Like, everything I've shot, the animals died with in sight. Like, it's just been a heck of a year and a heck of a setup. I think, like, I think there's a lot that goes into that gear and having confidence in the gear. So that's. That's my story on archery equipment this year. Just as a little plug for ourselves. We've got the bow sling on my website. If you. I love being able to glass hands free and then use that bow sling. I like, I'll throw it over one shoulder, underneath my other arm when I crawl in, and then I'll crawl with my. On my back because I'm stalking. And then I'll just undo it when I'm within range. And it's a really good way to be stealthy. I think that that's just like, a. A solid product. Those are on my website then. Oh, this is one. Okay, I saw this. This is one of those things where you see something and you're like, is it as good as it looks? And so I got it. And the answer is yes, it's really cool. I talked about it earlier when I just first got it, but so it's based on this quiver app. Q U I V And then like AR is big, like alternate reality ar. And what it is is it pairs with a Delta McKenzie target. They've got these X ray series targets. I'm not like, this isn't something that I'm sponsored by or anything, but I just think like, look, this is some pretty rad technology. And these guys made this app where you use your phone and it shows you the anatomy in a 3D target. Like different layers of BO, vitals, everything. And it's like anatomically correct, super cool. And also, whether you have the target or not, you can go on the app and flip through the layers and look at the different anatomy. And this is something that I did with my wife where it was like, you know, in the past she's, she's taken like some deer and pronghorn. Never taken an elk. She has shoulder. I think she hit something in the shoulder. It was, I think it was an elk or deer. But you know, just going through like, okay, look, here's where the shoulder blade is. Oh, okay. And really like being able to dissect that and look through it. And I know they're constantly doing new stuff with the app. So even if you don't have the target, I would get the app and just check it out. It's pretty cool. But that X ray series target is really, really sweet. You can see your arrow, like your arrow trajectory through the thing. And they're constantly like making improvements to it. So those targets are pretty cool. I was actually just the way that I saw it was, I don't know, some, some like you see everything. Some ad on social media probably they've got my targeted ads on because I think I bought like three things off of targeted ads recently that I'm like, I didn't know that existed. And they're really cool. But don't quote me on this. I saw something about like 500 off in free shipping on those targets. Don't know if that was a one day thing. Don't know if that was like for used targets at a shoot. Not really sure. I think I saw that on Delta McKenzie's. Gosh, I shouldn't talk about stuff like this publicly because it'd be like that didn't exist and now everyone will be pissed. But I thought I saw that. If not, sorry. But I did see something like that in just, just yesterday. So I don't know, you could go check. Maybe there may really be a sale on them. If not, maybe I, maybe I have like foreshadowing in my mind. I could see the future So I don't know, something to look at. But they're super cool. And if you're a shoot that has these, you know, it's just like there's a little tap thing on it. You just download the app, tap it on target and then just pulls up your camera and away you go. Really cool tech, really cool. Something different. I think it just changes. Like the archery practice game. My wife before her elk hunt, we used it. It was cool that we got to use it before that. And man, I think it definitely made a difference between that and like practicing those off yarded shots. Like it actually she had the exact shot that she had practiced a lot. Like even the last shot that she practiced before we went on the hunt was a type of shot that she had on the hunt, which is super cool. Like to have that confidence and just build that up in your practice is really sweet. Let's now talk about optics. I mean, you've heard me say it before. I think I'd rather like if you had to drop me off if I was like an episode of Alone. Binoculars and optics are probably something that I'm going to take. I'll be like, I'll leave the pants. I'll take the binos or the rangefinder. Because it's just like, I think it's just so imperative to like success for western big game hunting. You know, I think a couple of new things that kind of happened this year with, you know, the line that I work with is Vortex, the spotter. They updated what I like to call the baby razor. So the 3 to 39 by 56, it's a really good backpacking spotting scope. Super light, super versatile, definitely unique as far as like size and power. You're kind of great bang for your buck on really optics intensive hunts. I think I gravitate toward the bigger glass. But if you're maybe not particularly trophy hunting, you're like, I don't care what that elk is. Exactly. I don't need to see how many inches it is at 9,000 yards. I just need to know if it's a bull or not. Or you're like, I'm doing a lot of backpack hunting. I don't think there's a better scope out there for that type of hunting than the 3:13 to 39 by 56. Like it's just a great, great lightweight option for getting a little bit more magnification. The I might have even. This might have even been on my list last year. So maybe we'll just call it tried and True. The Razer HD 18x56s. I don't know, it's hard for me to not, not carry the extra weight of those binos on certain hunts. Like man, you know, here's the thing, right? Because budgets like this stuff isn't cheap. I recognize that. Like it's very expensive. You know, I like especially being a guide and other things, you go like, well this is part of my job. So kind of justifies buying a lot of optics and all this other stuff, right? Because it's like it's tools for work. Like you can't, you can't do construction, show up at the job site with, with Craftsman tools. Like, sorry, Craftsman, but you know, you gotta get yourself something good, right? Cause otherwise you're making no money. So I, you know, like I, I have a lot of optics and I put a lot of emphasis in optics. I like those bigger binos. Now an alternative to that. And I've talked about this in the past and maybe just being like a pair of 12 power binoculars where you can use those as your chest rig and then you can also put them on a tripod and glass really in depth, at distance. But glassing with both eyes open through larger pair of binos, I've spotted a lot of stuff that I probably would have spotted other ways. But you just get a lot of like eye fatigue glassing through a spotter all the time or, or just through your, your lighter power binocular. So the Razer HT18s, I mean I always like, I always promote the highest, like probably the, the most top of the line glass because that's what I like to use. But there are other options, like for more magnification in like a different line that are still pretty good that I've run for like spring bear hunts and other things. Just testing and I go, man, these are, these are actually pretty solid. So there are some of those other options. And then rifle scope, new rifle scope came out this year. This is another one that I got to test early, which is the Viper. They're like the new updated Viper. So in the past one of my most recommended before they came out with the Razor lhts I used to talk about all the time. The Viper hst I think it was, I probably got that wrong. But anyways, that was like my go to for most of my rifle scopes. And then so now that they've kind of updated that Viper line with, for the ones with the adjustable turrets, it's got like a locking adjustable turret, you know, capped windage, has a lot of the features of the HSLR or the RZR line. The new Razor is the LHT Light Hunter tactical. Now the Viper kind of is in that vein, but a better price point. So got to test it. It's an excellent scope and it has all the features that I love. Like if, if you're just saying, hey, I want what's the best rifle scope and within a certain price range, I would say you really can't beat the Viper. I like the, you know, they have more magnification. I kind of go with a 3 to 15 by 44 just for hunting. I don't necessarily need so much magnification. Like I'm. The weird thing about me is like I could shoot just as far with a fixed 6 power scope probably as I could with a 15, but I've got good vision, I suppose. So I, I don't necessarily need the higher magnification. I like the lighter weight and I like this just like a little bit faster for hunting applications, you know, just like a little bit lighter, a little bit easier to handle. But other than that, I mean there's, there's a lot of different magnification levels there that, you know, just go with what you like. But what, what a great update in that line for this year. Like solid, solid update. And then, you know, I think one of the things. Oh, tripods. One of the. I, I tested a new tripod this year and loved it so much I'm selling it on my website. It's the Peak 44 tripod. Couple of things I love about it. It's got, Well, I do a lot of filming, so that's one thing. But I also, it's nice to have a tripod that you can shoot a rifle off of if you needed to. So the cool thing about the peak 44 is it's got a great kind of smooth pan head and then it also has like a ball joint in where the post would be so you can level it. So if you're filming or you're gonna shoot, you can set the tripod up and then just quick level either your gun, your camera or your, your optics, whatever. Super cool. There's a lot of other features. Like you can unscrew if you wanted and use them as like a trekking pole or something like that. I don't really utilize that feature on it. But another thing is you can, you can change out the post on it and it can go from, I think like I can get it to go full standing. It's pretty light like in the wind. It moves a little bit, but it's a light spotting scope or sorry, it's a light tripod. But I can, I can utilize it full standing and then I can go down to 5 inches off the ground and lay prone and shoot off of it with the, with the shorter post on it. Pretty, pretty awesome stuff. It's got ARCA Swiss base, like for ARCA Swiss base plates. So pretty universal. I mean pretty hard to beat. Like it's a, it's a pretty solid tripod. I've got those on my website as well. When it comes to shelters, back to Stone Glacier, I mean the skyscraper, two person kind of the workhorse. Like they got the solace. One person. You can't go wrong with either of those tents like for multi season, multi uses. I've taken both of those tents on sheep hunts in Alaska, late season hunts in Alaska. Both of them have held up. Like if you're gonna have a tent, just have one that is good for all seasons. That one definitely is the two person I use as a one person. But I just like the extra room. I go back and forth on what I use. Like I would say it's a toss up between the two. If you're always solo, go with the one person. I have done two people. Like on a. On my mountain goat hunt. Me and my brother, I'm pretty sure shared a tent. I don't know why we did. I think we just saved just to save weight. That sounds right. Yeah, I'm like now thinking about it. Like did we? Yeah, I think we did. Yeah. Because we like split up the stove and the other stuff and just like save weight because we were just going deep and it's my brother, so I didn't mind. But a lot of times I'll. Even if I'll just be with buddies and I'll take the two person for myself. I don't mind the extra pound or whatever. So a little bit more room in the pack it takes up, but that's not bad. The one person though, like on most of my sheep hunts and stuff. Most last three years I've used the one, the Soless. One person and plenty of room. Plenty of room to dry stuff out. Two great options. Moving along, we'll look at rifles. One of the things that you probably realize this year I have my own Weatherby Live Wild right Edition rifle. Of course I'm gonna say that that's my favorite, right. I mean I had a pretty big hand in the process of it. A couple of the things, you know, I've Talked about the features in the podcast already, but you know, available in a variety of calibers. It's the Made in America Mark V action. It's the top of the line action. I'm all about that top of the line accuracy, you know, utility. But it's also the best price point within the. So I guess it's the most economical Mark V. It also has a lot of awesome features including spiral fluted barrel, skeletonized bolt, bolt handle, spiral fluted fluted bolt, shaves off a little bit of weight. Composite stock, hand painted sponge, painted stock. It looks really cool. Aside from that, it also is threaded for a. It comes with a muzzle brake standard. That's pretty awesome. And then it's, you know, threaded. So if you're. It's suppressor ready. So actually I, I didn't even put this on my list, but suppressor ready. I. This is. Maybe I talked about this last year. I don't know, Silencer central. I guess they're out. I think they're out of. It seems like all the emails that I get are from South Dakota, Sioux Falls, wherever that is. I think that's right. It doesn't really matter where they're from, but dude, they've made purchasing a suppressor like the easiest thing possible. I just got another one. I think I just did it yesterday. Fill out my paperwork. You do everything. They walk you through the atmosphere. They go on. They're like on the phone with you. They're so. Or like I've never met a company that's more organized than this company. Like this is a very difficult thing in the past and they've just made it as simple as buying anything. They ship it to your door. Like you file all the stuff they do. They run through you with all the tax stamp things like it's online form. They mail you your fingerprint card. I'm already in the system now so like, you know, if I get another one, like I don't have to do some of the steps again. Like it's. They save everything. It's great. You know these things when you do something and you have to, to, I don't know, put in your information 19,000 times. You're like, I just did this, man. It makes it pretty good. But I got the banish Back country, it's just a shorter suppressor. So I have the banish. I've got a banished backcountry. They're all 30 caliber. So you can just. Any 30 calorie and smaller. You can, you can put it on pairs really well with the live wild, Great, great suppressor. I, I mean, I'm a big fan of hunting suppressed for hearing protection. What's that? Tinnitus. Don't. Don't tinnitus yourself. You know, having like earplugs all the time and just being around a lot of guns, it's nice to have that suppressor. And then it also reduces the recoil, like, out of just like a muzzle brake would without the just massive extra crack in the rifle. So it's, it's, it's hard to go unsuppressed these days. But every once in a while, like, I do like the added speed and ballistic of longer. Like, I guess. Yeah. Just added velocity of your, you know, longer barrels and sometimes a suppressor on that's not awesome. But that's why the Spanish backcountry is great because it's, it's fairly short. I don't know. I'm putting my hands out. I think it's probably like, don't quote me on this. I'm just guessing six and a half inches. I don't know, something like that. That could be way off, but seems, seems about right. And yeah, man, once you go suppressed, it's hard to go back in the vein of rifles as well. Gear, dude. Look, for me, I've said it before, it might sound like a broken record, but I truly believe that the best hunting bullet out there right now for all distances is the federal terminal Ascent. And it's that bullet that is the reason that I started working with them. I was, I've been talking about this for years of we need a better air quotes, longer range hunting. A bullet that performs at close range and further distances, like, it needs to perform on all areas of spectrum because you get these bullets that only perform at 350 yards or further. And I'm like, that's not hunting. Like, for me, you need something that also performs like, okay, you take a shot there, but you need something that performs it from zero yards, let's say whatever. Clearly not zero yards, but one yard to 500 yards like that. A bullet that does everything in that range is awesome. And they nailed it. Like, I started using that bullet. I have not been disappointed in it. I've recommended it to a lot of people and the type of group, like, it not only performs well on animals, but it shoots awesome. I've talked to a couple people that maybe their gun didn't like it, but it's the, the exception, not the rule. Like, I know guys that are shooting better. I had a buddy, I have I've got a buddy that he hand loads a lot. Like, he's. He does a lot of long range shooting. He does it all right. He's tries every bullet out of his gun, whatever. And I was like, just do me a favor, go shoot some of these. Because he's like, he's still using those Federal terminal sense, because they're loaded, you know. And I'm like, yeah, I'm still using them. And like, I don't think I can hand load something better than what I'm getting out of these. So. So I'm not gonna, you know, I'm not gonna switch. He's like, all right. And so he. He started shooting him. I think he was shooting him out of his six five. I can't remember what kind of rifle it was. And he was just sending me a picture. He's like, yeah. Like, he's like, this is. It actually blew his mind. He's like, yeah, I'm just gonna shoot these out of this rifle. Like, it's. I. You can't do any better. And then the hunting performance is awesome. I. I'm a sing that bullet from the rooftop kind of guy because I've had a lot of. I've shot everything, everything. So if you find a better bullet out there, I mean, I'll test it. But, man, as of right now, I don't think there's anything better. Like, that's great. It's a great bullet. And then, like, the way that they. The. It's great ammunition as well. Like, it's pretty high quality. I've been getting a few. Like my.300 PRC I got through their custom shop. So you can have a. Like, I don't know if it's just because I. I can't remember if I got it that way because I. They didn't have any in stock, and I ordered some through the custom shop. But I was getting super consistent, super consistent velocities out of it. Like, very little deviation, which is. Which is great. Oh, that's a. I'll throw this on there too. I picked up one of those Garmin Garmin 0 chronographs. That's a game changer. That's. Yeah. I guess if I was to recommend a great gift or something that I didn't have before. Absolute game changer. I mean, I've been using it for my bow muzzle loader rifles. Every time I shoot now, it's so easy. Like, before I would just chrono once. Now I chrono every time I shoot. And it's really cool because I can do it at different temperature ranges. Like I'll do it when I'm out at the range and then I, I carry it with me on my hunts. And if I'm gonna sometimes like I travel somewhere and I'm shooting, I'll shoot at that elevation and get a, get a good gauge of the speed and then I can adjust my dope chart there from where for where I'm at. It's a game changer. Like, it's a. It's a really cool product. So. And then just another shameless website plug. We've got rifle covers, Live Wild rifle covers, the Solo Hunter rifle covers. We just got the Live Wild branded ones on, on my website. So those are available. And then all these gear things always go for a long time. I can talk forever about gear. I don't know if you guys like it or hate it, but let me know. Like, they love these gear things. I only do a couple of them a year. Gear. But I like talking about gear especially. I just feel like, you know, it's a big part of my life and it's a big part of like hunting culture as well as a guide and getting a guide camp and every. That's like the thing we all talk about all night is just gear. And like, I love this or I hate this part of this thing and, and it's cool. And a lot of the stuff that I get to be involved with with the gear development comes out of those conversations and like just repetitive use of. Of things. Like. Like I do realize like a lot of the stuff that I like is maybe stuff that things that people might not ever hit the maximum usage out of. It's like they'll use it for a weekend here and there. And okay, maybe you don't need what I've got, but I think that, hey, look, if you've got what I've got and it works day in and day out for months and years on end, that's awesome. Then the average user, like, it'll last a lifetime and it'll be good stuff. So that's why I still talk about like the stuff that, that I really like. One of those things that has that lifetime. Just go get Montana Knife company. Of course my favorite ones, the one that they did for me. But the, it's the Live Wild edition Elkhorn Skinner. I mean, they made it for me. So of course that's going to be my favorite because it honestly, like, it's the best knife I've ever used. Unfortunately. I mean, fortunately, unfortunately I don't know, I wish I had like a stockpile of them that I could sell or something because they're sold out. But I'm hoping that we'll be able to get those back. Until then though, I mean, Montana Knife Co. Makes all their knives are incredible. I've used, I haven't used them all, but I've used a large selection of their knives and I try like when they get a new one, you know, I'll utilize it if I can. If I, if I've got it, it. I've used a lot of their knives and, you know, there's not a bad one in the mix. I just really like the Elkhorn. It's just for the way that I do things. I love that. But you know, the Speedgoat is just an absolute classic. The Stone Goat, which is kind of like a hybrid of their kind of skin More Skinner knife and the Speedgoat is a, is another good one. You can go on some. They've got some in stock and then this is just one of those things like you gotta, you gotta be there for their draw props. I know there's a lot of you that. I got messages like, man, I wanted to get that knife. And it was just, it was sold out by the time I got on. Make sure you're on their email list and if you want our Live Wild knife, you know, make sure you're on my email list as well because that, that'll, you know, help, you know, when they're available. Oh, I got. This is me reminding myself about. We're gonna do giveaway. I've got one left and it's gonna be given away. So I've got one of the Elkhorn Skinners. We've. We're doing a big giveaway. I'll mention it again at the end, but go to my website, it'll be on there this week and my social media on my profile. Find out how to get that. Plus some other awesome gear, some gear from meet your maker, a live wild rifle, all kinds of great stuff when it comes to clothing. I've been working with First Light for a while. This is another company that I've got to do a lot of projects, product input on, you know, like help, help craft some of the new stuff coming out and test a lot of the stuff coming out. They've always got a great Black Friday sale. I think some of this stuff, like their kiln base layer I think is like 30% off. It's going to be like next week and then some of these Other things. I'm not sure about some of it, but I do know that they have like a lot of stuff up to 40% off that's coming up. Like they always do like a 30, 40, 20 off on like a lot of categories. So it's about the best dang time to buy hunting gear. Whether you're buying it as a gift or just for yourself, sometimes it just can't be beat. Like you might as well get the deal on it. I'm sure they're fine me mentioning that like, hey, you guys did the sale, right? I'm, I'm the one just saying now's a good time to buy it. But it really is like, I mean, I always like my family and stuff. I'm like, hey, like, if you guys need the stuff, get it now because this is the time. Like it's not going to get any cheaper that I know of. I guess I don't know all the, the behind the scenes action, but I do know that they do like three or four sales a year. That's a good time to buy it, right? And this one, right before Christmas is an excellent time to buy it and still get a little bit of seasonal use out of it. Now if you, if you're just buying it, not as a gift. So I will tell you a couple of my favorite pieces. And this is just like universally like being on hunts with, with other guys. Like some of the stuff that we love. The Uncompagre Foundry. I just called the Unk Foundry because it's just a mouthful, but that is like the protected puffy. And I think that they quoted me on that because I used to always say like, protect the puffy. And they're like, we made a protected puffy. So it's an insulated layer. But it's almost got like, think of like a insulated rain jacket almost. But it's wearable as a regular jacket. Like, it's surprisingly breathable. I don't know if it's just because I mean it is breathable material. And then also like, I think the loft keeps it off your body. I wear it as my mate. So I'll wear like the kiln hoodie and then that jacket on most hunts from mid October on. And I'm good. Like, you might get a little. If I get hot hiking, I unzip it or I'll just hike in my shirt in the kiln. But the nice thing about it is like, it cuts the wind. It really cuts the weather. Like you cut the wind, you cut the weather is Is what I like to say. Solid. And I like the pocket positions of. Of it as well. But solid jacket. A lot of the. My guides use it. I use it. A lot of the guys on some of the hunts that I've been on recently have been like, dude, this thing is legit. Like, first time they've used it, they go, this is great. I didn't have mine on my last hunt. Some of the other guys did. And I wish I'd brought it. It was. I thought it was gonna be warmer than it was and I was just cold. Then I. Then I ended up. I ended up grabbing. I had a puffer in my truck and what was it? The just the UNK Compagre 2.0, which I just grabbed because, you know, I was like, I need a little more insulation. I. I think I just had like a. I don't even think I had a jacket with me. It was cold, of course. Right? That's the way it goes. Like, I'm gonna hike up here. I think it's good. We're gonna be moving. And then it's just a lot of sitting and glassing. But that's beside the point. That Unk Foundry, awesome jacket. And then, you know, especially for late season. But the 308 lined pant, I think it's the best pant they've made. Maybe I'm partial to it because, like, I kind of suggested it, but I love it. I love the stretch, I love the fit. I love the fact that it's got a little bit of insulation layer. Like I don't often wear. I do like their zip off thermals, but I often don't wear thermals. I did, you know, late season, like real cold. I will for sure. But sometimes I just like that line pant. Cause I. It breathes great. I stay warm, I'm moving. If I need extra warmth, I'll throw on like some rain pants or like puffer pants when I'm glassing. But that 308 line pants, awesome when it comes to boots. Like, I guess going down the. The Kit Bear Schnees, Beartooth. They got a. So this year they've got two new versions of my favorite boots, the Beartooth and the Timberlines. They got the V3s of the beartooths. 200 gram insulation, great for late season. I like. Those are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn that I can think of. Of. And then for like earlier season, the one that I run is the Timberlines. And They've got a V2 of that they Just a few little upgrades here and there. I think, like, they fit just as well. And I think, like, the little upgrades are just kind of a little bonus to making the boot, like, that much better. When it comes to base camp, I think I lived out of my truck this year. Like, my family's probably like, hey, you've spent more nights in your truck than you have in your house. What's going on? That's not true, but it feels like it sometimes. I. I live in my truck, and so I've got it set up for, like, literally living in. I've got that GFC topper. I have the older version. My buddy got the newer version. There's. I mean, like, that is. I think it's one of the best pieces of gear. I talked about this last year. Like, one of the best pieces of gear I've ever got. Like, it just. It. It works really well. They had a few things that I'm like, dude, I'd fix this. Like, it's a really good thing, but, like, mine and the locks on it kind of sucked. And then it doesn't have lights in it, and there's a couple of, like, it drips in the front. Just little things, right? Like, it's not nothing big. And then they did an update this year and changed, like, literally everything that I had a problem with they fixed, I guess, because my buddies got the new one and not that the old. Like, if. If I found an old one on sale or the new one, I would. I don't know know. I think they're pretty comparable, but they, like, one of those things where they listen to their customers and I think just absolutely knocked it out of the park. And then another updated update this year. Like, a lot of great updates this year. Just taking stuff that I really like and just making it better. The deck drawer system, they didn't update. One of the things that I really wanted was just more utilization because they used to have, like a V shape and now they're more straight walled. I get a little bit more pull out of the drawer. Like, distance coming out from the bed, and it has more room in there. Like, I have the same size truck bed, you know, updated drawer system, more space. And then they also have a couple accessories. Which one is their Minuteman case, which is a bow case that fits in the drawer, which is absolutely awesome. Just for keeping it out of the way, getting to the hunting spot, I kind of swap out what I put in that minute man. So on a lot of hunts, I've just been putting food in it. Like taking out the foam, utilizing it for food. Because that's like a big. It's a thing that takes up a lot of space on a hunt. And it's just nice to keep it organized in that. So I can just keep it in that drawer and then I'll put the foam in. I've got. I've carried optics in it and then my bow of course if I'm bow hunting. So that's an awesome update as well. Like super cool. One of the. There's this thing that I'll talk about a product that doesn't exist. I sadly found out doesn't exist anymore. It's called an aux. It's like a. I don't know man. I feel bad because this is like one of my favorite things. So I've got. It's like a indestructible coffee maker. Like a K cup style coffee maker. I've been getting those black rifle coffee K cups and using this oxbox because I can just make coffee quick. Like I don't have to boil water. Like it's instant. I just plug it into my truck, make coffee. The thing can be upside down. Like it's literally rolled around in my truck, been beaten up up. The thing always works. And I'm like, it's probably one of the coolest things I own. And I was like, I gotta go buy one of these for my brother as a gift. Cause like he was just like, this thing's Brad outta business. It sucks man. You could have, I think just way ahead of its time. Like you could have the coolest product and just maybe if nobody knows about it or what have you. Like, I guess there's maybe not enough use cases. Like you could literally drive over this thing and I think it would continue to work. And unfortunately there and around anymore. I thought I saw a Milwaukee one similar. I know Makita makes something similar, but it's not. Not even the same. And then I don't have Makita tools so I got all the Milwaukee Batteries. It's like, come on. So I've been. But on Huntswear I don't have that. Or I do. I'm a big. I'm a big fan of really good coffee. So I've been using the Yeti French press a lot too in camp. And then just, just you know, putting my. My ground coffee in there and French pressing. It's pretty fast. And then I don't muddy up. Like I can only drink so much instant or dehydrated coffee or freeze dried coffee. It's okay. Like it, it's good, but it's not great. I'd rather just have like a brewed cup of coffee, to be honest. And then, you know, I'm a big fan of keeping my caffeine high going. So in the middle of the day I always energy and focus. Wilderness athlete. Like it's just part of my routine and I feel good. I feel good about it. Not gonna lie. I think the last step in the whole gear and hunting is always a processing meetyourmaker.com meet just we just call it meat. They make all the like processing stuff that I use. I went on there. They have a lot of stuff half off. Like pre Black Friday sale. It's about as good as you can get stuff. And then it's the best price out there that I know of. Like, it's really good stuff. Their chamber vac sealer is something that I use daily. Probably like anytime I have leftovers, I just chamber vac seal it. Because with a chamber vac sealer you can actually vacuum seal liquid. So like I will put in stews and vacuum seal it. Then I freeze it enchilada like whatever we have for dinner. I just even as like, hey, we made steak. I had a leftover steak. I vacuum seal it and I freeze it. And then when I go out on a hunt, I just throw that in the cooler. I throw some dry ice in my yeti and then I just throw that in boiling water. I don't ever cook when I'm out hunting. And I've been doing this for big groups of people, whatever. It's essentially soothing in camp. It's already cooked and it's like a game changer. I've saved a lot of money. I still use the peak meals for dehydrated meals for like backpack hunts and you know, like going light and fast or not bringing a cooler. Like on this hunt I'm going on next week, right, we're gonna like base out of a camp, but we might end up like just spiking out. And I've got my peak meals. Like I eat a lot of peak meals like throughout the year. But like having you know, this option for meal prepping and then you know, using as like base camp meals is just game changing for me. Like I used to buy a lot of like pre made meals at Costco and they're freaking expensive now. So I've been saving a lot of money doing that. Just it's good stuff. It's way better than you get in Costco. Like I can have high quality, you know, good meat, elk and deer and whatever. And it's just incredible. Another cool thing that meat came out with this year, 25 pound motorized sausage stuffer. And then they've got of course, their 1 horsepower grinder which it just, it's a workhorse, man. It works really well. I mean for just like if you have better processing equipment, you have a better end result. And I've said that time and time again, but it's so true. And so with meat I've got, we've got a field to freezer giveaway. I mentioned it a couple times, but this field to freezer giveaway, it includes a Weatherby Mark V live wild rifle, a Peak 44 Teton tripod, a Montana knife company live wild elkhorn skinner, and then the meat 1 horsepower dual grinder, one of my favorites. And then that chamberback sealer doesn't get any better than that. So to sign up for that you can go to my website. I got a link at the in the thing. We're just for this week. So like you got a day or two to sign up when you're hearing this podcast. And then I've got it on my social medias on Instagram as well. What a prize pack, man. Pretty cool. So that's all within the processing thing. I'll talk about two more before we kind of or wind down here. A couple more things that I tried this year, never tried before and I thought was awesome. So one of the big problems that you might have is like okay, you shoot an elk, you get home, you like shoot it toward the last day. You don't, you're like, where do you put the meat to process it if you're doing it yourself? So this year I got introduced to this thing called a cool bot. And what it does is it like turns a in window AC unit into like a chiller. So normally those AC units go to like 60 degrees and then shut off. Well, this kind of like has its own control system that tricks the AC unit to going cooler down to like 32 degrees. And then there's this, it's a wild MeatGear.com is where you can find them. But it's called the meat locker. And it's like a pop up tent that has, it comes with bars to hang your meat in. And it's, it's designed, it comes with a table and all this stuff to put the AC unit on. And it's like I pop it up in my garage and I've got a walking cooler Cooler in my garage. I guess if you had a generator, you could run it in camp. Like, if you had multiple guys and you're hunting, you could run this thing, like, in camp and continue to hunt. It's like, it's awesome. You know, something where maybe you and two buddies or whatever could go in on three buddies and. And then just share it, I think. I can't remember what the price is. They're like, with all the stuff, it's like around 1500 bucks, maybe more. Because you got to buy the AC unit and the Cool bot. I think the cool bot Pro, like $400, $500, then AC unit and then the meat locker. But dang, man, it's. It's. It's a game changer. Like, I used it this year for nearly all. Yeah, like, pretty much all my early season hunts for sure. And it was awesome. So that's something that never tried before. Definitely a big fan of, I guess in the, like, meat processing thing. Still have my LiveWild Spice Company spices. These are. These are mine. It's my company. Fully organic certified blends. It's like, just stuff that. These are my blends that I make for myself when I'm doing stuff and then just make them. And now everyone has access to them. Still just have the four. I've been working on some new ones, but, man, getting sourcing the right stuff is tough. Like, it's. It's definitely been a. I don't know. It's one of those things where you're like, you think it's going to be easy to get into. And you're like, why is no one doing this? And then you realize, like, it is very difficult. So, like, we're the only game in town that has, like this certification on these kind of spice blends, but whatever, right? Like, hard work in, good product out. I guess. So those are available on my website. You know, another cooking thing. This is just. I don't know. I got this. Yeah, this is like a. Here's. Here's a gift idea. It's called Napa Valley olive oil. The guy's the owner of. It's a hunter. And. And I'm like, you know what? If you're going to buy olive oil, I might as well buy some, like, really good stuff from somebody that hunts. Not like one of these companies. It's just like a. Who knows what, you know, I got like, I got a half gallon. One of my buddies had some, and. And then I liked it. And they sell it. And like, you can get up to 4 gallon jugs. I just got like a half gallon of it. But I actually talked to the, to the owner of it, the family, family run business. And yeah, hunters. And it's really cool. So a little something for your holiday cooking, maybe a little gift. It's like, yeah, it's a good product. I've enjoyed it. So I would assume they ship it, but I don't know. Something to think about then. I think the last thing in the meat processing is like just getting it from field to home, you know, I did this year, like people ask what I think for an elk, like an average size elk, you could get like an average, a smaller bull bone in or bone out out in a yeti. 210. Like you need about 210, whatever cubic, whatever they measure it in. Is it liters? I don't know. I should know that. But that's about the size you need for an elk, right? A 250 is like definitely enough room for a larger elk. Bone in, whatever you want to do. But I think a 210 is like a pretty standard size. So like you could have multiple coolers that add up to that or one cooler that's that size. But that's a question that I've been asked a lot. Like what size do I need? I kind of think that that's just the workhorse. Like if you're just going to buy one, you know, they're expensive, but I'd just go with that one. And that's, that's kind of some of my favorite gear picks for, for this year. I guess if I was talking like, hey, I think I, maybe I did this last year. I can't remember throwing that like random dream thing. Like you're like, hey, I won the lotto, what do I want? Or like maybe you're, you're in the market for a side by side. I did an article for Western Hunter for next month. I compared three different models of Can Am because I've got, I borrowed two from friends and then I've got the Commander. So I kind of did a side by side comparison of them. Just kind of for hunting, like, you know, difference in hunting. I started, I've started using a site utilizing a side by side a lot more because trucks are just so expensive now. Like it. I think I'd rather just have one side by side that I just beat to death than like a brand new truck that I've never really owned a new truck until now. And I'm like, I really baby this damn thing because they're just so expensive. But I, I'm like, you know, I'd rather like utilize the side by side and not boony bash my truck all the time and get like better life out of my truck. So I've been using the side by side more where I'm at. Pretty aggressive, like dirt roads, like pretty technical. So I went with the commander just because as more travel in the suspension. Buddy has the Defender Limited. I think like if he wanted to trade tomorrow, I would trade him. I don't know, I might, I don't know if I think I'd maybe. I don't know. Like, I kind of like the like coolness of the more aggressive off roader. But the Defender Limited is like, it's like having a vehicle. It's like a truck, man. It's like ac, big windows, windshield wiper, heater, power windows up front. Pretty rad. That's something like hey Santa, throw that on the list. That's a good one. So yeah, that, that, that's my. We'll call it 2024 gift guide. Gear review. Some in depth stuff and a little bit behind the scenes of some of the gear you see and maybe just don't know the backstory or why, like why is this, why would I like this or whatever. So I'd be fun to dive into that. If you guys like these gear things, let me know. It is one of the things that I do get comments about like hey, I like the gear stuff. Talk more about it or you know, I guess I haven't really had anything polarizing but if you don't like them, you can let me know too. I'm pretty, pretty thick skinned. I just like to know what's what everybody likes. So hope you guys enjoyed that. And yeah, until next week, I'm. Oh, I'm gonna say too before we go, you know, I think we've got some pretty good stuff. You know, if you're, if you're doing some Christmas shopping or whatever you want, whatever. I know how it goes. But I've got, I'm gonna do a few deals on my site for I guess like we'll call it. I hate this. I kind of hate, I hate diving into this whole thing, but it is what it is. Like I do want to give you guys deals. I appreciate everybody listening and supporting us. I've got, I don't know, I'll just say it now on our site I do have some limited, A limited amount of vortex optics. I'm going to run from Black Friday to Cyber Monday. 20% off on what I have in stock, so. So I don't know if. I don't know if you find it cheaper anywhere else. We're pretty much just giving it to you at our cost. I hate to say. I probably shouldn't say that out loud. Now someone's gonna sue me or something. No. So I'm doing that. But it's while supplies last, and then I don't know, maybe there's other companies that are doing the same thing. I don't know, who knows? And then I've got a couple other things, like I got a hat beanie combo, which is pretty popular. Bringing that back. I got a hat shirt combo next week. And then I've also. I'm also going to do like a flannel and sock combo. So we've got a few deals like that on my site. So check it out. There's a. There's a lot of stuff on there. A lot of the stuff that I've talked about. If you aren't. I mean, I guess the thing is, like, a lot of people don't know you can buy a lot of this kind of stuff on my website. Hey, if you want to. If you listen to the podcast, you want to support what we're doing, that's a great way. And you're going to buy this stuff anyways, you might as well just. Just get it through us. I appreciate it. It helps out. You know, it's a small group of. It's not. It's not like it's a big company. It's like me and some buddies. So, yeah, so, you know, if. Yeah, we try to, like, we try our best. Like, if you have problems or whatever, reach out, email us. Like, you know, we want to make sure that everything happens right. So it'll be either myself or Chris or Nico. Like, we all. We all do it. So, yeah, that's just, that's what we got going. And then, as always, big thanks to Montana Knife Company, awesome supporter of us and this podcast. Like I said, like, if you're going to give a gift this Christmas, I mean, a Montana knife is one of those things that people will have with them for years to come. They have generational guarantees on it. Like, I was just there a couple weeks ago just visiting with them and, you know, just walking through their new. Their facility, and it's expanded so much. It's crazy. But, you know, like, somebody sends in a knife and like, here, here, they fix it up, like, sharpen it, give them a new sheath because there's something wrong. With the sheath or whatever, and it's like, send it back, no charge. Like, it's just. It's a pretty awesome company, and they're built on, like, their huge mindset is just this generational idea of, like, this should be something that you pass down. And that's always a cool gift to give someone because it has a lot of meaning to it and a lot behind it. It's made in America, and. And, man, it's like, that's just. It's awesome to have those kind of things that, you know. I mean, this time of year, too. Like, you talk about gear and, yeah, it's a lot of stuff and a lot of whatever, but you spend a lot of time and a lot of money on a lot of this stuff, and you want it to last and you want it to be good. And I'm like, buy once, cry once is my always been my motto. Like, I've lived that way for a long time. Like, I just want to get the best stuff and know that it works. And Montana Knife Company is definitely that. So. So, as always, you can sign up for their email list, notified of their. Their drops. Best way to get one, I'm gonna say until next week. Gear up. We'll catch you guys later.
