With the Big 12 partnering with RedBird Capital Partners and Weatherford Capital, giving the teams across the Big 12 a chance to receive $30 million, there doesn't seem to be any interest from the teams in taking it. Host Kevin Borba, is joined by Locked on Cougars' Jake Hatch as they dive into why the millions of dollars are seemingly scaring teams away. As Hatch explained, the deal would simply give outside forces far too much say over what the programs are allowed to do. With that being said, both Hatch and Borba think there is an avenue somewhere down the line where teams may feel a bit safer entertaining an offer like this if the conditions of the agreement changed. While the Big 12 is often overlooked for pure individual talent, Borba argues they have some of the best quarterbacks in college football. Hatch and Borba identify some of the talented gunslingers whom they are most high on as the 2026 college football season approaches. They also dive into how Julian Lewis can have a successful first year as a starter, with Hatch revealing what worked well for BYU's Bear Bachmeier in 2025. Lastly, the two dive into ESPN's Big 12 preseason rankings. They reveal what they disagree with, agree with and could be persuaded to think differently about. With the Big 12 seemingly always competitive, the 2026 season may be the conference's tightest race in years. Colorado and Georgia Tech set the stage for one of college football’s most overlooked but intriguing early-season matchups, both riding that “prove them wrong” underdog mentality. With a big roster turnover, coaching changes, and post-spring questions, Kevin Borba and Jarvis Davis break down what really matters for each program as they charge into a critical 2026. Jarvis Davis spotlights Georgia Tech’s fortified defensive line after portal additions, but uncertainty lingers at wide receiver and in the secondary. Alberto Mendoza is locked in as the Yellow Jackets’ QB1, bringing much-needed stability, as the staff bets on his patience and smart development paying off. But Colorado faces similar anxieties. Kevin Borba is high on the Buffs’ reloaded group of playmaking wideouts, but the offensive line remains a lingering concern—will this finally be the year protection catches up to the explosiveness outside? The Juju Lewis “coming around the mountain” vibes put extra focus on quarterback leadership and development, while Colorado’s refurbished defensive line needs to fix last year’s gaudy run-defense numbers to keep the Buffs in games. Both Kevin Borba and Jarvis Davis dig into what underdog energy means when both teams are desperate for respect, giving their takes on national rankings snubs, the impact of brand perception, and the pressure of turning offseason hype into real success. With Colorado and Georgia Tech set to collide, will either program grab the national spotlight and start a new chapter—or will old doubts linger? Colorado football enters a make-or-break season as Speaker A dives into the arrival of Brennan Marion and his high-powered Go Go offense. After years of a one-dimensional, pass-heavy attack, the Buffaloes’ disastrous run game is under a microscope—will Marion’s system and new backfield talent finally unlock a dynamic ground attack and save the season? Speaker A breaks down why Marion isn’t just a hopeful upgrade—he’s a necessity. Drawing from Marion’s run-game success at every coaching stop, the episode dishes out numbers and urgency: if the run game stalls again, jobs could be on the line. CBS Sports labeled Marion’s run game turnaround as an “overreaction,” but Speaker A insists it’s more like reality—without major improvement, Colorado is in trouble. The show also details how the run game is crucial for clock control, defensive stamina, and taking pressure off young quarterback Julian Lewis amid a tough Big 12 slate stacked with dangerous QBs. Will Colorado’s new look finally snap its streak of sub-400-yard rushers and light a fire under the offense? Can the Go Go scheme transform Boulder’s fortunes and give Buffs fans hope of a competitive season? Bold analysis and stat-packed takes—plus, advanced access perks for everyday listeners and behind-the-scenes program updates. Locked On Buffs delivers the pulse of Colorado football as the Go Go revolution takes shape. Everydayer ClubIf you never miss an episode, it’s time to make it official. Baylor and Colorado face mounting pressure as Dave Aranda and Deion Sanders head into a pivotal 2026 season. Despite both programs landing key transfers and new coordinators, national doubts persist—ESPN labels them as Big 12 also-rans, putting both coaches squarely on the hot seat. Can revamped rosters and fresh coaching minds turn the tide, or are expectations for a “fluke” turnaround unrealistic? Kevin Borba and Cam Stuart dive headfirst into the Big 12’s chaos, spotlighting the week 4 showdown in Waco as a must-win for both teams. With each team labeled as “homecoming” fodder, the result could swing the trajectory (and job security) for Dave Aranda and Deion Sanders. Could an early loss mark the end of an era at Baylor or put Colorado’s bowl hopes on life support? The conversation pivots to the pressures facing five-star quarterbacks Julian Lewis and DJ Lagway, each expected to be the next program savior. Is either phenom set up for success, or are they being asked to patch bullet holes with Band-Aids? The hosts unpack what “success” should mean for QB development and win expectations as both signal-callers inherit rebuilding teams. Finally, Kevin Borba and Cam Stuart tackle the looming College Football Playoff expansion, questioning whether a 24-team bracket dilutes the sport or gives schools like Baylor and Colorado new life. Are five-loss SEC teams and lackluster regular seasons the new normal, or is college football risking its identity for TV money? This episode pulls no punches on the risks and rewards of radical playoff growth—and what it means for every tier of program. Big 12 power rankings chaos, make-or-break coaching years, high-stakes QB pressure, and a playoff debate with existential stakes—Locked On Buffs and Locked On Baylor bring fans the arguments, anxieties, and underdog hope shaping the 2026 season. Colorado’s defensive line is set for a major turnaround as the Buffaloes bring in two high-impact FCS transfers: Toby Anene from North Dakota State and Lamont Lester Jr. from Monmouth. After plunging from one of the Big 12’s best pass rushes in 2024 to the bottom of the pack in 2025, can these dynamic edge talents revive Colorado’s disruptive front? With a new defensive coordinator at the helm and unknowns swirling about scheme fit, the stakes are sky-high for the Buffs’ portal experiment. Kevin Borba and Zach McKinnell deliver in-depth analysis on why FCS prospects like Anene and Lester are reshaping roster construction in Boulder and across college football. Hear insider breakdowns of Anene’s consistency and “hockey sack” value—flushing QBs into teammates’ arms at 04:24—and why Zach McKinnell pegs Lester as an All-Big 12 candidate after a dominant freshman campaign and elite 18% pressure rate at 12:19. What’s the ceiling for Colorado’s new look pass rush duo? How are Coach Prime and staff finding value in overlooked FCS and G5 talent—and what does it signal about evolving transfer portal strategy? Kevin Borba and Zach McKinnell also challenge the stigma surrounding lower-division stars, urging Buffs fans to celebrate player development and results over helmet stickers and high school hype at 21:42. With Colorado’s trajectory hinging on these portal pickups, this episode explores whether the Buffs can finally build competitive line play—and why betting on FCS experience might be the secret edge in a crowded Big 12. Is a defensive resurgence in the making, and will these “minor league” gems lead Colorado back to relevance? The Colorado Buffaloes are on the brink of a crucial boost in the trenches, with JUCO standout Malachi Brown listing CU among his finalists. At 6’5”, 315 pounds, Brown brings the size, production, and leadership desperately needed by Kevin Borba’s “thin” defensive front. With Power 4 run defense woes lingering and last year’s locker-room culture in question, Coach Prime’s ability to land and maximize Brown (and similar transfers) could define his Boulder legacy. Kevin Borba tackles the harsh reality of Colorado’s defensive line: a unit gashed for over 222 rushing yards per game, dead last among Power 4s, and plagued by poor physicality and depth. Injury concerns (notably Ezra Christensen’s eligibility limbo) and limited pass rush have kept the Buffs reeling, while the ongoing search for portal or JUCO reinforcements remains top of mind. Can Coach Prime’s new staff and roster finally prioritize the “inside-out” team-building philosophy needed to win in the Big 12, or will trench struggles undermine the program’s trajectory again? This episode dissects why acquiring proven linemen like Brown is non-negotiable for Colorado’s success. Kevin Borba outlines how true locker room culture, improved run-stopping, and consistent physicality must make the defense a strength—not a liability. As the Deion Sanders era teeters between a breakthrough and regression, all eyes are on whether the Buffs’ recruiting and development in the trenches will finally deliver the foundation for conference titles and playoff dreams. The Colorado Buffaloes’ wide receiver group is stacked with talent, but all eyes are on Ernest Campbell, the track star transfer from Sac State, whose chemistry with new OC Brennan Marion could set the Big 12 on fire. Can Campbell’s blistering speed and deep-threat ability force his way into a loaded rotation? With other standout additions like Daniel Scudero, Kevin Borba and Zach McKinnell debate how Marion will juggle playmakers and why size won’t limit Colorado’s offensive pop this season. The conversation shifts to the defensive rebuild as they spotlight Paul Amodia, the Lamar transfer touted as one of the FCS’s top defensive backs. Will Amodia’s experience and physicality lock down a key role in a retooled secondary fighting for starting spots? Kevin Borba and Zach McKinnell take a step back to dissect the Coach Prime experiment at Colorado—why did instant success at Jackson State fail to translate seamlessly to Boulder? The duo dives into roster turnover, the value of elite college QBs, and the missing ingredient of player development in the trenches. As the Buffs add seasoned FCS and G5 standouts, is this the recipe for consistent winning in the new-look Big 12? Colorado's youth movement charges forward as several freshmen line up for early playing time, highlighted by Mojo Williams’ playmaking spring and Preston Ashley’s leadership nod. Kevin Borba and Jack Carlough analyze which newcomers have the best shot at crashing the starting lineup, why Coach Prime’s commitment to practice performance means walk-ons and true freshmen alike could see the field, and how depth at linebacker and offensive line could shape the season’s outlook. The discussion also spotlights a shift in Buffs recruiting strategy. With more early offers nationwide and staff hitting the road from Texas to the East Coast, Jack Carlo explains why 2028’s class could set a new standard for early commitments in the Coach Prime era, and how the transfer portal continues to influence roster construction. What does this new approach mean for high school prospects versus transfer additions? Looking ahead, Kevin Borba and Jack Carlough tackle pressing questions for Colorado: Can the Buffs solidify depth on the defensive line? Will the offensive line finally show the needed improvement? And is this the year a dynamic backfield emerges? With Juju Lewis poised to seize QB1 and competition wide open at multiple spots, this episode explores the factors that could make or break Colorado’s Big 12 campaign — and why patience, player development, and off-field recruiting hustle are all under the microscope in Boulder. The Colorado Buffaloes’ offseason drama heats up as alumni public backlash intensifies against Deion Sanders and the current staff’s “closed door” approach. Kevin Borba and Jay Smith dissect the fallout from Lawrence Vickers' outspoken criticism and explore whether old-school Buffs can coexist with the Prime era. With alumni relations strained and viral headlines swirling, the hosts debate if any olive branches or simple fixes could heal this growing rift before it further distracts from the on-field agenda. But that’s not Colorado’s only hurdle. Kevin Borba and Jay Smith shift focus to the program’s true problems—and potential. As the Buffs prepare for a critical season, trench play, defensive transformation under Coach Marv, and the quest for an identity beyond Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter dominate the conversation. Can new OC Brennan Marion’s “Go-Go” offense and a wave of seasoned transfers spark a breakthrough in Year Four? The hosts examine whether roster overhaul and strategic hires will drive a resurgence or set up a November reckoning. Is Colorado a surprise contender—or poised for more turbulence? Kevin Borba and Jay Smith boldly forecast a minimum six-win target, highlight the X-factors on both sides of the ball, and set the stakes for what could be a defining season in Boulder. Will Coach Prime silence the doubters, resolve alumni unrest, and spark genuine Buffaloes swagger—or is more change looming on the horizon?
