On today's show, we are discussing the two secondary players that the Cowboys drafted in the 2026 NFL Draft, Caleb Downs and Devin Moore. We're going to talk about the secondary as a whole, but Landon, we are a week removed from the Cowboys drafting Caleb Downs. I still have to pinch myself every morning. I think it's real, but I want to do like a little bit of a deep dive on the scouting report. This is the player that we talked about really for the first time back in January and we really didn't circle around to him too much because just didn't think he was going to be available where the Cowboys pick. So maybe for some of the the listeners that don't know, can you give us your scouting report on Caleb Towns?

Oh, yeah, actually, hold on, let me pull that up real quick. But I can just tell you from, from memory, you know, I think line one with this guy is just the football intelligence and the instinctual aspect of this guy game he's played in and we talked about it at the time, right. Like the, the resume is one of the best that you could possibly have in, in college football. Right. You learned under Nick Saban. You transferred to Ohio State and, and, and led maybe the one of the greatest defenses in all of college football history and then followed it up with with another incredible year in 2025. And, and, and if you just watch the tape, like, you just see him making, you know, an innumerable number of impact plays despite the fact that he's surrounded by other guys who are also huge impact players. And, and I think, you know, is he the. I think this is pointed out by a lot of folks that he isn't necessarily the, you know, pterodactyl size that you see. He isn't the elites of elite athlete that I think some of the other top, you know, 15 top 12 safeties you've seen drafted. But, you know, he is an extremely good athlete. But, like, let's not, you know, get it twisted, but he isn't a freak of nature, you know, as far as his size or anything like that. But, you know, clearly he more than makes up for it with his ability to, with pattern recognition, this ability to diagnose what's happening in front of him. He's an incredibly sound tackler. His technique is just flawless. And again, like, he's, you know, we throw around the term coach on the field a lot. I think that very few people match the standard of what we've seen with Sean Lee a couple of years ago. This guy is that level of football intelligent where he is an absolute junkie. And, and, you know, the one thing we didn't necessarily have in his scouting report at the time when we gave it was that, you know, he would come into these interviews with teams, not only break down his Ohio State defenses, both of them because he played into two defensive coordinators, he broke down his Alabama scheme, and then he broke down whatever your scheme was, whatever team he was interviewing with. That's the kind of guy that we're talking about. And in the year when you're installing a new defense and you're trying to learn a new system, having someone who's that smart and who understands the defense on the conceptual level is just invaluable and one of the most key positions of communication in your defense.
