The Las Vegas Raiders made a big splash on Thursday morning, grabbing veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins. Signing Cousins wasn't the most interesting aspect of the move, it was the money Cousins was paid, indicating he will be the starting quarterback in 2026. That means that presumed #1 pick, Fernando Mendoza, will come off the bench. An irregular move for a top pick. The consensus second-ranked quarterback is Ty Simpson, but finding him a home early in the draft will not be easy. However, a slight drop could be the best thing for Simpson as he tries to find the best home. Finally, the Cleveland Browns have a quarterback issue of their own, but do not seem interested in solving it in 2026's draft. That would leave Shedeur Sanders entering year 2 and Deshaun Watson, back from the abyss. Head coach Todd Monken spoke recently and hinted that Sanders could be in the pole position.
