The draft lottery was full of surprises, and our resident Leafs fan, Kareem, is over the moon. It means the world to that fanbase, and we talk through why it's a great fit for both Gavin McKenna and the Leafs (if he indeed is the pick) and what elements of his game Leafs fans should keep in mind are weaknesses. For the San Jose Sharks, this is a gift the organization din't need, but is extra jet fuel as they rocket skywards with arguably the deepest U22 talent pool in the league when July 1 arrives. For teams like Vancouver, Chicago, the Rangers, and Calgary, the lottery loss stings but shouldn't be detrimental to their building of successful franchises, as the talent crop in the 2026 class is tighter at the top-end than in most draft, the gap between 2 and 6 isn't all that wide and there's even still room for debate at 1.
