Thank you so much. I'm happy to be back here with you, Mark. It's a blessing as always to speak to you and hear your thoughts and be able to have this discussion.

Well, you know, you're very familiar with America, of course, and Israel and other parts of the world, Ukraine and so forth. And our 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. And it's very important for people to understand the role that Jews played and Jewish teachings played in our founding. It was a Judeo Christian value based independent movement and the partnership between America and Israel. It didn't begin yesterday. It began at Israel's birth. And the Pilgrims came to America seeking religious freedom. They had been persecuted as well. And they were profoundly influenced. William Bradford, the second governor of the Plymouth Colony, by Jewish culture and Hebrew language. And he taught himself Hebrew. As a matter of fact, when you look at the founders and we're Talking about the 250th on July 4th in Philadelphia, many of them spoke about what they called the Hebrew Bible. Many of them had memorized that. Madison spent a year studying it. John Adams talked about it at great length and praised what he called the chosen people from the Bible for laying the foundation for the founding of America. Jefferson was another, Washington was another. And of course, it leads up to the point where Martin Luther King had tremendous support for Israel. So this support for Israel and the connection between Jews and Christians and the connection to American founding is quite profound, isn't it?

Well, it's incredible to be celebrating America's 250th with you, Mark, because of all those things that you said, that Israel and America stands together in the most sacred values known to man, which is the freedom that's given to all and the love and sanctity of life. And for many decades, that maybe sounded like it was a given. Everyone sanctifies lice. Everyone has a desire to live in freedom. But what we see more and more is that it's not always the case. And when we go back to the founding of America, the founders of that great country which this was a whole new concept, democracy, freedom, every voice being equal, every person being created equal, and having justice for everyone, these were new concepts and they were found in the Bible. And so when we move forward today, 250 years later, and we see how those values have lived, have flourished, how Jews and Christians have been able to set the foundation for this incredible country of America that we know today, and then to see how that has led into the founding of the modern state of Israel after 2000 years of exile, that those founders were reading the words of the Bible and now, generations later, the Americans are part of helping Israel to come to fruition and bring those words to life. So there's nothing more sacred as far as I see as this bond and brotherhood between America and Israel and Christians and Jews. And I believe God created us for this moment to make sure that it not only survives, but strengthens.

You're so right. And so I often say, if you love America, you love Israel. If you love Israel, you love America. Conversely, if you hate America, you hate Israel. And if you hate Israel, you hate America. And we see that today. We see people in the streets all over Europe, in our country, certainly in the Middle east and so forth. They're always talking about both countries together. That is that they hate both countries or they want both countries to fail. Isn't it because of this, this principled and belief system and value system, the bond that is so unique between the two countries?

Well, I was just in America for a month. I just got back to Israel and I. When I was walking through New York City and I was in Texas and Miami, I happened to come across a lot of demonstrations. And what I realized was at the Israel Day demonstration, there was a big gathering of people standing with Israel in New York City. And there was maybe you could even say as many American flags waving as Israeli flags. And when I encountered the anti Israel protests, they were burning American flags. And so I think that we're just a reflection actually of what the terrorists themselves are saying. The terrorists are saying, first we're going to go for the Saturday people, the Jews, and then we're going to go for the Sunday people, Americans first we're going to go, or the Christians. First we're going to go for the little Satan Israel, and then the big Satan America. And so they're putting us all in the same group. And we see on the street that same thing is happening. But it's not surprising, because what our enemies hate today are the values that we stand for. And when Jews and Christians stand together for these values, they hate both of us and put us in the same. In the same category. But I know here in Israel, it's not. Is not even based on politics. It's based on a love for America and what America stands for. And that's the reason why Israel is the only country in the Middle east that has a memorial for nine, 11 and every single name of every single victim inscribed in that memorial in the middle of Jerusalem. It's the only country in the Middle east that has a street named after Dr. Martin Luther King. And America will always be a country that Israel cherishes, admires, admires, learns from, and stands strong in our partnerships. And in fact, Mark, I'm not sure if you saw this, but on July 4th, all the walls of Jerusalem's Old City were lit up in red, white and blue with big numbers of 2 fisty on it that we are intrinsically connected, whether we remember or not, whether we like it or not, because we stand with the same God and with the same values.

Amen. And when I was there on July 4th a year or two ago, I think it was, people of Israel are celebrating July 4th. So it really is an amazing thing. But in fact, there's many Americans who have made what we call aliyah to Israel, have moved to Israel because of their faith and so forth and so on, who remain deeply committed to the United States as well as Israel. So there's a significant population of Americans there, is there not?

Oh, there is. If you come to Israel, what you'll see is even all the street signs are written in three languages, Hebrew, Arabic, and English. And it's amazing to think, you know, it's in Arabic because we're in the Middle east and because we have 20% of our population who are not Jewish, who are Arab or Christians or Bedouins or Druze, who almost all of them who are native here to the Middle east speak Arabic, but we also have English. And it's because Israel loves America, identifies with America, and that's why English is one of the most prominent languages. If you walk down the street, you hear English. But what's incredible is you also hear Russian because there are so many Russian immigrants to Israel. You also hear Amharic because there are so many Ethiopian Jews. You also hear French because there are so many Jews from France. And you hear Spanish because there are Jews from South America who have made aliyah. And so that's one of the main focuses that I see and I prioritize in leading international fellowship of Christians and Jews, that the scripture says that the Jewish people will return home to Israel. The scattered people will have this ingathering to hear in Jerusalem. And that's why every single day, the fellowship brings aliyah flights of Jews from all four corners of the earth home to Israel. And it's Christians who make this possible, that we're standing together not just in studying the Scriptures and believing the scriptures, but in taking action to bring the Scriptures to life. And I think that's just totally awesome.

No, it really is great. The connection is extraordinary, and the connection is unique. The American people with Israeli people and vice versa. It's almost not like with any other people on the face of the earth. And these shared principles and values you speak of so, so important. You know, when we come back, one of the things I'd like to talk about, Yahya, is King Cyrus. This has always fascinated me. King Cyrus of what is today Iran, what was Persia, and why there is a connection between the Israeli people and the Persian people and the concern about how those people are being brutalized and treated right now. Because King Cyrus is really revered in Judaism for a reason. Even though he was the king of the Persian Persians, an emperor, but he was a remarkable human being. Fantastic idea by your wonderful late father and rabbi who came up with the whole concept. Matter of fact, let's take a minute to discuss that because we don't do that enough. The founding of your organization by your father, how did he go about doing that and why did he do it?

Wow, that's a. That's a great question. Because there's, There's a Hebrew verse that says, soph maseda mach shabat prila. The end result reflects the first thought. And the first thought that my father had, Rabbi Chiel Eckstein, a blessed memory was 42 years ago when he was in Chicago and he. He realized that Israel and the Jewish people, maybe for the first time ever, actually have friends. And there were Christian leaders, Pat Boone, Pat Ro, and J Cap Jack Hayford, who came to him and said, we pray for Israel and the Jewish people. We love Israel and the Jewish people. We want to stand with you. And it was through that that my father said, we together, Christians and Jews today, can learn from heroes like Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Corrie Pemboom. And to say we stand together to create a new reality instead of just what we know from the history book. And so there's this biblical word, mark. It's in Hebrew, it's hinem. And what it means is, here I am. It's when someone hears God's call and says, I will do whatever is needed to carry it out. It's what Abraham said before God told him to leave everything behind and make his way to the Holy Land. And I really think it's what my father said 42 years ago when he heard this calling from God. He named me. Here I AM. And today, 42 years later, thank God. The fellowship is part of bringing biblical prophecy to fruition. Where the largest philanthropic organization in Israel. Feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, sheltering the poor, and being the voice of Christians who love and stand with Israel, especially during these times when they're not heard and reflected on the mainstream media.

I'm sure your father will be so proud of you. What you're doing is enormously important. I remember those early days, commercials and so forth of your father. Just fantastic. Unfortunately, never had an opportunity to meet him. I'm sure we would have hit it off. But in any event, thank you for that. And folks, if you want to help, it's international fellowship of Christians and Jews. IFCJ.org King Cyrus. King Cyrus was a tremendous emperor. Persia, he was a great conqueror, military leader. But he had a special place in his heart for the Jewish people, didn't he? As they, they destroyed the first temple, the Babylonians, he defeats the Babylonians. And what does he do after that? Yael?

It's pretty incredible. Mark. What he says is go and rebuild your temple because this is what God has called you to do. This is the calling that you have on your nation, on your life, that's going to bring blessings to the entire world. And he realized that even if it's not directly in his area of land, when there's something good happening in the world that aligns with the vision for what God has, the entire world re reaps the blessing from that. And that's why I look at today as Israel, the establishment of Israel, not just being a geopolitical event, but it's connected directly to God's promises and his faithfulness. And when I read Genesis 12:3, where God says, I will bless those that bless Israel, I very much believe that so many of America's blessings and America's blessings come from standing with God's desire to have Israel in this world. And that's not a political statement, it's a spiritual statement. Go made a promise thousands of years ago. That promise has come to fruition. And now God tells us, be the watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. So I think today we're seeing so many Christians Mark, who are just like Cyrus the Great, who are saying, okay, it's not necessarily on my land or in my jurisdiction, but I am supporting in whatever way I'm able in order for the Jewish people to return to Israel and for God's will to be achieved.

That's beautifully put, Very beautifully. But, you know, I worked in the Reagan administration for eight years, including as chief of Staff to the Attorney General, before that at the White House. And President Reagan's view of Israel was much like you say, he admired Israel, he adored Israel. Prime Minister during not the entire period, but a good chunk of that period was the great Menachem beginning. And when Israel needed support, President Reagan gave them support and vice versa. And I want to talk about the versa part a little bit here because that's not discussed enough when we talk about $3.8 billion for Israel, 3.6 billion of that stays in the United States, goes into American industries to build American armaments, which go to Israel to defend Israel and the west against Islamists and others. And furthermore, Israel often improves the technology because your folks are battle hardened, battle after battle, and they give the technology improvements for free, of course, back to our companies like Lockheed Martin and so forth and so on. Whether it comes to the Iron Dome, a lot of your technology is going to be used here for our Golden Dome. But the same thing with our jet fighters, the same thing with our tanks. All of this has been done. So the relationship is not one way. It is a partnership. Don't you agree?

I couldn't have said it better. And these days, because there's been so much noise about Israel receiving so much weapons from America, and like you said, there's a direct interest in America in that. But Israel's actually starting to produce our own weapons because what we've realized is we can't rely on anyone for weapons. Because weapons for Israel is the difference between if we are here tomorrow or not. It's our survival. We are a tiny country and 0.4% of the land of the Middle east, that's less than 1% of the middle East. That's the land of Israel. You could drive from the north to the south in three hours. We are the size of of New Jersey. We have 7.5 million Jews living here. We're tiny and we're surrounded by around 300 million Arabs, 21 countries in the Arab Union, 99.6% of the land belongs to Arabs. And not only do we protect the Jewish people here, we're the only place in the Middle east where There is a growing Christian population. And so it's very important that Israel has the weapons that we need so that we'll be here tomorrow. And what we've seen is Israel serves interests always. And if we are limited in the weapons that we're able to get at any point in the future, that will be bad for Israel and America. And so Israel's actually starting now to produce our own weapons. And I think we're going to see more and more like you're saying, how Israel benefits America. America has basically an army base in the Middle east without needing to put. Put boots on the ground, has intelligence on all of America's enemies without needing to put boots on the ground, gets advice and guidance from the Shabak at Le Mossad and all the different intelligence units of Israel without needing to put boots on the ground. And when there is a threat to America, very often Israel will take care of it without America needing to put boots on the ground. And so on top of the billions of dollars is reinvested in America, I think we'll start to really feel more and more what a true alliance, true partnership, true allies look like. And it goes way beyond the money. And so I hope that talking point from our enemies will be taken away from them and the true relationship and benefit to both Israel and America will shine.

That's beautifully put. And you know, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said in recent days, look, I can tell you all the intelligence we get from Israel, I can't say it out loud, and how it has saved American lives. You've got Israel fighting Hezbollah, nobody else, which killed and was involved in killing and maiming thousands of Americans. It's really almost the beginning of the Iranian revolution of that regime, 1979. And also you have Israel providing us, not just us, but Israel now providing other allies, India, Germany, Greece with support and so forth. So it's obvious now that under this current government, they're building alliances with other democracies, they're building military alliances with other democracies, other democracies are coming to Israel for its technology. So it's very clear that, that Israel's on a new path here. Not to obviously turn its back on the United States, but it's become clear that it has to broaden its outreach. And I think that's what's happening now. And I think that's very, very important for Israel's security and our security. Welcome back, folks on the front lines, International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. Please check it out ifcj.org we're here with its great leader, Yael Eckstein. Yael, this friendship between the United States goes back to the founding of Israel, but the friendship with Jews, the people of the United States, goes back, as you pointed out, much, much longer than that. The state of Israel is the fulfillment of a dream that's really been thousands of years old. People say, what are you, a Zionist? All Zionism means is the right of the people to go back to. To their land. The right of Jewish people to go back to. They're the indigenous peoples of this land some 4,000 years ago. That's all it means. And you know, here in America, we're very concerned about indigenous peoples and the reservations and their rights and stuff all over the world. But the people who attack Israel, particularly the surrounding countries and their dictators, they talk about occupation. You know, if you're the original people, the indigenous people, you can't occupy the land. It is your land and it is your Home. And I think many Americans understand this. And my point is this connection goes way, way back between the people of America and the people of Israel. Then we have all these milestones that have happened, particularly in recent times. The recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, the relocation of our embassy to Jerusalem, the aftermath of October 7th. President Trump stood with Israel after the Biden administration, but he stood with Israel firmly, providing whatever support was needed, providing the US Military as needed. And Pete Haggs had talked often about fighting Iran, the Israeli Air Force, in particular in the American Air Force. He couldn't say enough wonderful things about the relationship, the partnership, how this is an ally who's supposed to function the way they're functioning. And it was really seamless. And the problem here is many of the young people today lack the basic understanding of this history and this relationship, don't they?

I agree completely, Mark, and I think you said it perfectly. What we're seeing is not only a lack of historical literacy. I was just in America and I spoke to high school children who didn't learn about 9, 11. So you're talking about a lack of historical literacy when it comes to America and recent historic events that we've experienced in our life that aren't being taught, and a lack of biblical literacy. And so those two places very much intersect. When it comes to Israel, for example, many people don't know even that Israel per capita is the highest number of Christians than anywhere. It's the only place in the Middle east where the number of Christians is growing and not shrinking. Many people don't know in Lebanon, it used to be a majority Christian, and today it has less than 30% Christian population. Many people don't know that in Syria the Christians are being targeted and persecuted. Actually, the fellowship is there to help the persecuted Christians in Syria with medical aid and food aid. And so what we need to know now is, is that we have to read the Scriptures, understand it, and then we'll know that God is calling Israel and America to stand together, because it's not. God doesn't leave it to our something to guess of how he feels about what should be done in the world. He doesn't leave it to us to guess what he wants for Israel, for Jerusalem, for people to stand with Israel or not. It's very, very, very clear when you read the Scriptures and regard historical literacy. I mean, my family goes back 11 generations in Jerusalem, and we're Jewish. Jerusalem for many decades was majority Jewish even before the founding of the state. And so there's so much misinformation being spread, the number of Christians per capita that there are in Israel and the number of Muslims that are per capita in Israel. There's nowhere in the Middle east where there's that amount of Jews in the Muslim countries that, that it's just something that people don't know. And so I believe that it's our responsibility, Mark. When we know what the scriptures say, when we know history, when we know the political reality, when we know what real allies look like, when we know what's destructive for the future of America and Israel, when we know these countries that are trying to destroy the very foundation of the values we stand by, it's a our responsibility to educate, to inspire, and to stand together in what God wants of us, which is to choose life, to choose respect, to choose understanding, to choose freedom. Instead of falling into this, many people would call it Marxism reality that freedom doesn't exist, choice doesn't exist, and there's a whole rewrite of both the spiritual and the political narratives that just false.

Wow, beautiful. And, you know, it's amazing. There's literally more information, whether it's ancient texts like the Torah, the Bible, which includes the Old Testament, as Christians call it, and the New Testament, and more than that, to explain the reason and the justification and the foundational understanding of how this all occurred in the Middle east and why the Jews are in the locations they're in, why they were before. You know, there was no such thing as Muslims when Judaism was given birth. There was no such thing as Muslims. When Christianity was given birth, there certainly was no such thing as Palestinians. And so we fail completely. I think certainly our public institutions, they teach the opposite. But families need to discuss these things and teach these things and take the time to explain it. So the next generation, or even this generation of young people fully understand what is taking place and has taken place, because you called it. This is a Marxist Islamist movement in America, in Europe, and all throughout the Middle East. And you can hear what they say, you can listen to what they say. And they're not interested in assimilation. They're not interested in coexistence. They're interested in confrontation and they're interested in conquering. And I guess you see this all the time, doing what you do and helping the people that you help and so forth. And so let me ask you about that on the ground in Israel as an example. You're helping the neediest people, particularly after these battles and so forth and so on. How is their spirit? What's their thinking?

Like, wow, I love that. Question. Because Israel is really the most resilient country in the world. We go from the bomb shelter to go out and get ice cream. And it's something that is deeply, I think, ingrained in people of faith. When you know that you're doing the right thing, you somehow have this supernatural resilience to be able to get up even when things are hard. Say that Hebrew word we spoke about, hineni, here I am. And be able to do the hard things, because God's spirit is inside of you. And there's so much darkness, there's so much anger, there's so much hatred all around us. But what I also see are these scriptural words. Come alive. Lore ev lalechan not tamale maim elek nishmo et v'. Roshem. The hunger will not be for bread, and the thirst will not be for water, but it will be for wanting to hear the word of God. And we look around and we see the fastest growing Christian population is actually in Iran, in the entire world. The fastest growing evangelical population is in Iran, which is something that I believe is so symbolic for what's happening in this world. I was recently in Nazareth, where the Fellowship dedicated a new hospital floor for the Christian population in Israel. In Nazareth. And I see Jews and Christians standing together everywhere I look, that it makes me believe that there's a silenced majority. I used to think that they were silent, Mark, but I don't think they're silenced. I think they're silenced, that the voices are being silenced. But nothing can silence the word of God, the spirit of God. And when I go and deliver food and medicine and visit the elderly and the orphans and bring them, you know, to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, shelter the poor. And I tell them here in Israel, this is from Christians in America who love you. That's the greatest inspiration, I believe, that there is, that people are still committed to do good, people are still committed to help one another, and people are still committed to hear the voice of God. That doesn't have to do with politics, that doesn't have to do with policy, but is calling every single person in their own way to say, hiney, here I am. I'm willing to do what's hard in order to do what's right. Right.
