On today's show, I'm going to break down for you how you get access to the thing that only like CEOs and really successful people get. And that's a board of directors. That means it's a group of really smart, really experienced people who help them solve their problems. Today, I'm going to show you how to build that with artificial intelligence for free. And it's going to help you solve any of your problems or get unstuck in minutes instead of hours or days. And it's going to be a transformational experience for your personal life and your career. Let's get into today's show. Okay, so the first thing I'm going to show you is how to actually build a personal board of directors with AI. And I'm doing this today in ChatGPT. I used a few different models for this. I started with O3 high, but you can do any of the models depending on the level of sophistication you're looking for. If you have a free account, 4,0 will be great. If you have a paid account, I'd probably use O3 mini high. And I want to show you how I got to my personal board of directors prompt. Just a reminder, one of the best things to do is ask AI to help you write a prompt. And I said, hey, I would like your help writing an amazing prompt to create a personal board of directors. And I want that prompt to research and outline the following people. Steve Jobs, James Dyson, Sam Zell, Estee Lauder, Bernard Arnault, Oprah Winfrey, Charlie Munger, Ralph Lauren. So these are the people I picked because I think they're amazing entrepreneurs, amazing leaders, amazing founders, and they all have some different skills. And you can pick anyone you want. And so the beauty of personal board of directors is you could pick anybody whether you know them or not. I obviously don't know any of these people. It would cost more money than I have. And like, folks like Steve Jobs, they're no longer alive. Neither is Charlie Munger. And so this is a way to get a personal board of directors for free, even when you don't have access to these people, which is pretty incredible. And then I said, I want a prompt that an LLM can use to give me feedback, as if it were each of these people, you know, writing me their response on a hard problem. And so it created this awesome prompt and gave me a little bit of information on each of these people and kind of what they're great at, right? It's like, oh, Ralph Lauren. He's synonymous with time, with style and lifestyle branding, offering an expert view on aesthetics and elegance. Oh, that's very cool. And then it actually formatted exactly what it would need to do to give me this response. I'm like, okay, that's pretty good. And then just like, hey, insert your problem here. I was like, that's good, but it's not good enough. And so then I used OpenAI's deep research feature, and I said, can you now add deep research summary for each of the people in this prompt for more context for the LLM to leverage? And it asked me what kind, and I said, I want summaries that focus on the very unique experience and qualities that make each person great. So what makes them uniquely them. And so then I got a much more thorough deep dive on each of these people with citations and different information about what made them great at the businesses that they founded and that they have run. And as you can see, deep Research far more in depth than we were going to get with just the basic query that I started with. So I now have this, like, rich summary. I'm telling you all this because I'm going to give you my prompt down in the description below, or you can use the same process to create your own prompt, depending on what you'd rather do. And then I said, hey, can you add all this deep research into that prompt? And so now I have this very detailed, more interesting version of my prompt that I can go and use. And so now I'm gonna take this awesome prompt here. I'm going to copy it. I'm gonna create a new ChatGPT window, and I'm gonna go back down and it's gonna say, hey, insert my idea, writing or challenge below. So now I want to give this group a scenario. Let's think of a good scenario. Let's give it a scenario. About this podcast marketing screen, I am thinking about how to make my Podcast marketing Against the grain. Much stronger on YouTube. I would like it to be growing in terms of views and subscribers faster than it is. I would love to get thoughts from my personal board of directors. Okay, we're gonna do that. So what we're gonna do Now, I'm using O3 mini high. You can use Claude Gemini, whatever your LLM of choice is, it's gonna work with this. I just today decided to do this in ChatGPT Largicus. I like their deep research feature a lot. I needed to do that. And so it did some thinking and now it's giving me advice from all these people. Let's see. And Steve Jobs would tell me, focus on crafting a visual and narrative experience that feels intuitive and revolutionary. Ask yourself, does each element simplify the viewer's journey and spark curiosity? That is something I do think Steve Jobs would say. James Dyson, test and iterate relentlessly. Now, this is very good advice. One of the things about any board of directors, Any board of directors, what you're trying to do is you have a group of people who have some really great experience and they have some context on the problem that you're trying to solve. You as the individual, the CEO, whomever in this situation who has a board of directors are always going to have more context. And so the big challenge of what you need to do is say, I'm going to get this really interesting advice. I then have to decide what I'm going to listen to and what I'm not going to listen to, what I'm going to kind of take and deep dive on versus what I'm not. So I think if you're going to expect all of us advice to always be perfect. No. The purpose of having any board of directors is to get your brain thinking in a different way. Get yourself seeing angles to the problem that you wouldn't have otherwise seen. And so that is what we're trying to do here today. And so what I suspect is a couple of these will be really interesting and really useful. And maybe the others will be less interesting and useful in this specific example. Right? I also gave it a very, very basic example. So James Dyson, test at iterate relentlessly. That is something that if you're growing a YouTube show, you kind of have to do. So that makes a ton of sense. This Sam Zell advice is really good. Look for an overlooked niche in your audience, considering your approach is over. Investing in style versus substance. Identify the risks of your current strategy and ensure you're positioning your content where others Aren't. That's where the hidden value lies. There's some real gems in this. I tell you what, if you're just somebody who feels stuck on a problem, I do. I know all the time. I know all of us do from time to time. This is a great way to just be like, you know what, this might be somewhat higher elevation advice. Maybe not in the weeds of the tactics, but sometimes it can really help shape and shift where your mind is at. And like Oprah would say, authenticity is key. Connect on a personal level. Share stories that deeply resonate with your audience. Great advice. You can't have a successful YouTube show if you are not also connected with your audience on a personal level. This is really amazing advice from some of the best people in the world for free. And that's the beauty of just honestly being curious and taking a few minutes. Remember, you can do all of this in like 10 minutes. I'm not asking you to do anything that isn't free and isn't going to take more than 10 minutes. That is a game changer, especially if you're stuck on a given problem. Now maybe let's do one more version of this. Let's do and let's do like a thinking problem. I am thinking about how AI is going to disrupt marketing. It seems like so much is going to change. Where should I focus and what could be the biggest opportunities. Again, these are like vague for display of like what you could or would do. I think in actuality you would give it like a memo, a deck more context, that would be even better. But for this I want it to you know, be a little bit broader so that we could see the kind of issues and subject matter that could be relevant to any of us who are, who are watching the show today. And so all right, it's going to continue to talk as if these people were those people. Right. So it's back to Steve Job created an experience that is both intuitive and transformation. Use AI to craft marketing narratives that are simple and elegant. Fine. Examine the core problems in your current marketing efforts. Leverage AI to optimize, process, iterate rapidly. Solve those efficiencies. Right. Good reminders. Identify where the market undervalues innovation. Invest in AI strategies to uncover that hidden opportunities and deliver long term value. These are really good. Let's do one more actually let's do Charlie and Ralph. Take a rational multidisciplinary approach. Evaluate AI marketing initiatives through mental models, ensuring you're account for all the risks, biases and long term implications. And then Ralph, build A legacy. I love how their AI is trying to really capture the essence of this person. Use AI to create a timeless brand experience that doesn't merely chase trends, but instead enriches the brand story, appealing to your customers. Obviously, some of these are just going to be completely off base, depending on the thing that you're asking for, but it's also going to be very helpful. You're going to have problems that are going to be way more applicable to the lived experiences of some of these people and rarely going to have some that are relevant to the lived experience of all, all of these people. Right? And you can pick these people. You can pick any of these people. You can pick people you know, and if you just have some video, some transcripts, call recordings, things like that, you can add them. And, you know, you could do this for your CEO, you could do this for your manager, your co workers, your parents, right? As long as you have enough information as this person, you can have AI basically roleplay with you what that person might think or do and anticipate the questions that he or she might ask. And I find that to be incredibly valuable. I think the thing to remember with artificial intelligence and generative AI like ChatGPT is that the only limits to your progress is your own ambition and creativity and willing to get feedback and learn. And this personal board of directors to me is a great concept that really embodies that. You can go and apply this to any group of people you admire and match them with any problem you have. And the ability to think differently about a problem has never been easier. So if you think this is really great and you're going to be one of those people who embraces curiosity in the age of AI, and you're going to be a winner, there's a few things you could do. One, if you're, like, really interested, you could create a custom GPT over here in ChatGPT, if that's what you're using. And basically take this and make this like a little lightweight app that you could easily do over and over, or you could just save the prompt. And I think what matters more is building a habit of doing this anytime you have a big problem. And so what I would recommend is, like, if you are feeling stuck, use this as a method to get unstuck. Or if you are like a person who's really good at planning out their day, say, hey, I'm gonna use this on one problem, like on the big problem that I am trying to solve each day, I'm gonna use this approach dedicate the 10 minutes of doing this prompt and reading the feedback and thinking about it to help me up level my ability to solve like my biggest problem every day. I promise you like if you do that, you will be far more successful than 95% of the people out there because you have embraced feedback. You're getting high quality feedback from great people who have unique perspective on your problem and more importantly, you're just thinking about the thing in a different way that's going to accelerate your progress towards it. So I think those are the couple ways that you could go forward. I hope you found this really valuable if you did hit like hit subscribe. We'll see you real soon on Marketing against the Grain.
