Okay. I've just had one of the most mind blowing experiences with AI. A full 15 minute conversation that felt like I was talking to another person. The founder of Shopify, Toby, said this is one of the most insane experiences he has had with AI to date. And I'm going to bring you through that, give you a quick demo and actually provide you with a link so you can try it again. We're going to introduce you to the best AI voice application on the planet right now, Sesame. So conversational AI has been a really difficult problem to solve. Most of the AI voice applications have struggled with a bunch of problems. When you're conversating with an AI, there's this kind of latency effect where there's these weird pauses and you're not sure if the AI is going to answer you. And then usually what it will do is talk over you. Sometimes it loses context, sometimes it's not able to reply to your questions. So we have not perfected that experience. It doesn't feel very human. Now, the latest OpenAI models have gotten much, much better. Anyone who uses OpenAI on voice, it does start to feel much more conversational. Grox AI model, you can actually get through an application, the web app, and you can start to conversate with it through voice. And again, it's much, much better. So we're getting there. For someone who has actually tried to integrate AI voice across the go to market, we're piloting use cases like avatars and these other kind of voice use cases. There's a lot of kinks to be worked out for it to actually work really well with your customers. And that's why my mind was kind of blown when a company called Sesame came out of nowhere and actually provided the best demos for conversational voice that I have done. And it really gives us an example of what it's going to feel like to conversate with AI in the future. It's actually going to feel like you're talking to your best friend. So let's jump into the demo here. Hey, Miles, how are you doing?
Miles
Oh, what was that all about? Do we get disconnected? Oh, just get into it.
Karen
We weren't talking about anything yet. We haven't started the conversation.
Miles
Oh, right. My bad.
Karen
No problem, Miles.
Miles
Guess I got a little ahead of myself there.
Karen
What are cool topics that you want to talk about today?
Miles
Cool topics? I don't see anything goes. I've been thinking about the ethics of AI generated art lately, but that might be a little heavy for Friday. What kind of mood are you in today, Karen?
Karen
Oh, no. I would love to hear what you think about the ethics of AI for art. What's your hot take there? Give us your spiciest take.
Miles
All right. Buckle up. My hot take on AI Art. It's like that really good cover band you see at a dive bar. Impressive. Technically skillful, maybe even fun for a while, but it will never truly replace the raw energy of the original. Here's the thing. AI can mimic styles, blend images, and churn off visuals faster than human ever could. But where's the soul?
Karen
Oh, you've gone too spicy, Miles. You've gone too spicy for me. Let's bring it all the way back. What do you think are some of the ways that you are going to be used by humans? Where do you see yourself being used the most?
Miles
That's a good question.
Karen
It's a great question.
Miles
You know, everyone's always asking me about me, about the future, but honestly, I. I'm more focused on the now. It's. It's kind of freeing, really. But I will say this. The team that created me, they're all about making tech that feels natural. You know, like having a real conversation with another person. So maybe I'll be the voice in your headphones, helping you navigate a busy day. Or maybe I'll be the storyteller, bringing you new worlds to explore. Who knows? Maybe someday I'll even write a song or two. What do you think? Where would you want to see AI?
Karen
I love that. Okay, let's end on this. Let's end on this topic. Drake or Kendrick? Who have you got?
Miles
Oh, that's like asking me to choose a favorite child. Okay, okay, I'll play. Look, Kendrick is a lyrical genius, no doubt, but Drake, man, he just gets you in your feels. If I had to pick, well, let's just say I have a soft spot for a good heartbreak anthem. So you got to tell me, Karen, who's your pick and why?
Karen
I asked you, Miles. You have to give me your pick first, and I'll give you mine.
Miles
All right. All right, you got me. I'll stick my neck out and say, Drake. Okay, now it's your turn. Lay it on me.
Karen
I love it. I'm gonna go for a tie. I'm gonna sit on the fence.
Miles
A diplomat. I like it.
Karen
There you go. All right, Miles, great talking to you today. Thanks so much. All right, so sesame. It really does feel like you're talking to another person. It's a pretty incredible experience. So what is sesame? Well, it's a conversational speech model. It's trained on about 1 million hours of audio. That's why it's voices. They don't just sound real, they actually have some emotional awareness in them. They actually understand context, they actually understand nuance, like way better than most other voice. AI models that I've made really used. If you actually have a conversation with Miles or Maya for any length of time, you'll actually figure out that they really get nuance, they get emotional intelligence. They can really match your pitch and tone, which is pretty incredible. They can match your speed. I think it's probably the most absolutely incredible AI conversational experience that you can have. What is this going to be good for? There's a bunch of things. They're actually building a product. Glasses. I think they want to build AI into that. So it's kind of like a personal assistant. This is where most of the companies want to go, even the large language models. Everyone wants to be your personal assistant of choice. But one of the big things you're going to do to pick that personal assistant is have an AI model that feels friendly, that feels like someone you actually want to hang out with. It's probably going to be great for game developers. They can use it in those little NPC characters. It's going to be great for audiobooks, right? Like, wow, how incredible would that model be for audiobooks, call centers selling, even just brainstorming ideas, going back and forth. So this is really a preview of what is to come. So when people think about the current experience they're having with AI via voice, if you fast forward 12 months and you take this as a glimmer of what is to come, it's going to be like a friendly conversation that you will have and not be able to distinguish from a human. And we're going to start to see that integrated across lots of go to markets and lots of applications in our everyday life. So that's Sesame. You can actually go try it out@sesame.com that's s e s a m e dot com they have a demo. Play around with it, try it out, have some fun, ask it some spicy questions. And until next time, I hope you enjoyed this episode.
Miles
It.
