I'm kind of embarrassed to admit this, but one time, the president of my advertising agency and I, the second company I worked at, we were in the kitchen and I was like, so how's your day going? And he was like, it's going pretty great. In the middle of reading a book, I was like, that's cool, I don't read. I was like, probably not the thing to say to the president, but he loved to read. And I will say it stuck with me. I'm like, he reads every day. Like, I knew he was like in the middle of reading. Cause he was always like, every morning he gets his coffee, he went to his room and I could tell that he did some reading. Sometimes, like he would just sit in his chair and read. And I was like, wait, that is what the CEO does. They or the president, they learn. They put new information in their brain so they can make better decisions. And that's how the company grows, is how they grow. And I just think it's really interesting that I'm about to give you a whole episode on my top 10 favorite books that have truly changed my life and my business, how I think, how I behave. And you know, not too long ago, I don't know, was that like six or seven years ago, I was sitting there with a president of company telling him I don't read. And now, like, I can't wait to sit with my blue light glasses and just read at night and fuel my brain. So one of the things I'm working on is doing 10 pages a day, every day. And so I'm finding that journaling in the morning and reading in the evening is going really, really well for me. So I dump all my pain and my brain out in the morning and then in the evening to like slow my brain down, I put my phone away and I read before bed. And that's been really helpful. And so I've taken a complete 360. I love to read now. I wish I could read more. It's crazy. I'll be like reading a physical book and then when I'm able, I'll listen to a separate audiobook. Like there's so much consuming that I do and it gives me ideas for content. It keeps me in learning mode. And the more I learn, you know, like I said in the last episode, the more you learn, the more you can earn. So I want to walk you through the order that I read these 10 books and then of course I will link to the 10 books below. But I want to tell you not just what the book is, but why I chose this book. Now, I would be silly to not tell you that one of the best books out there is is the how to Win with Paid Ads book. If you haven't read it, it's great. We'll link to our book below. It actually really is cool. It's the story of how multiple business owners have won with paid ads and what it really takes to be successful with ads over time. So I really do think you'll love it. Number one Amazon bestseller, if you didn't know. Incredible book. I think I'm going to write a part 2 later that's a to be determined. And so we'll link to that below. And also don't forget that if you have not joined the Win with Paid Ads challenge, it is an incredible place for you to learn, alongside hundreds of other entrepreneurs just like you, how you can become findable and win with ads on Facebook, Google, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Spotify and beyond. All right, so let's jump in to the first book. So the first book that actually was the reason I started my business is Girls Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis. And so in each of these books, I'm gonna tell you the core belief, the takeaway and who it's for. So. And you're. And it won't ruin the book for you, I promise. There's so much to it. But the core belief for me from Girl Stop Apologizing was take the risk and decide who you are. Now I'll never forget she said. I remember her saying, I only fly first class. And when I initially read that, I thought that was about money, but it was about identity. It was like she is deciding to be who she is today and acting as that person today, even though she isn't where she wants to be yet she's acting as that person today. And I remember Ed Mylett saying, like, he would go stay at an expensive place once a month or once every other month, just to put himself in the room with other people to help, like, build the identity of the person he wanted to create. And I'll never forget that. So you operate as the future version of yourself today. And this reminded me about how ads reward decisiveness, not hesitation. And confident messaging allows, like, confident messaging on who you are allows you to stand in confidence with everything that you say. So this is for you if you are apologizing for wanting more for your life, apologizing and caring so much about what everybody else thinks around you and just wanting more. And so I really loved how this was, like, the first step for me to really not apologize for the beliefs and the dreams that I had on my heart. The second book is Extreme Ownership, so this one's incredible. So I need to look it up. Extreme Ownership. Yes. By Jocko Willink and Leif Babin. It said how. How U.S. navy SEALs lead and win. And so this book for me, I read it right after that one, and what I got out of it was, if you put a different leader to lead the same team, you'll get a different result. So different leader, different result. It gave an analogy of, like, these. It was something like there were eight different groups, and each group have a different leader, and they all had to do the same thing, and one group just couldn't do it, and then one group did, and they put that group leader with the one that couldn't do it before, and the one that couldn't do it before did it. It was like, the leader. And I thought that was really interesting. So my biggest takeaway is there's no blaming. Like, it's my fault. Like, I default to my fault. I do not default to, oh, it's my team's fault. I'm like, oh, if they're doing that, I might have not explained that well. Oh. If that's what their question was, we could have done something better. So I really love extreme ownership, and it's why I can't stand excuses from really anybody. I'm like, you're meeting me with defense and a reason. I'm like, what if you just owned it? What if you practice extreme ownership? So it's one thing I want everyone on my team to read is extreme ownership. Because that's kind of the mentality I want my clients in my programs to have is like, own the fact that maybe it wasn't set up correctly. Own the fact that maybe the offer could change. Own the fact that maybe you could have showed up differently. With that ad, I can give you the strategy. It's like the lead a horse to water but can't make him drink. I can show you what to do, but then you might have to do it, but you might have to say, oh, this didn't work so well, but it could be a you thing. Like you can own it and take the feedback. And if you're the person that's like, oh, I will, I'll do the method and I'll take the feedback. I want it all. You will win. An extreme ownership is another way to really win. It's for this book is for leaders who are ready to stop outsourcing their responsibility. And anyone who has ever blamed external factors for internal problems love extreme ownership. Next book is a U squared. So the core belief for me is that quantum leaps, huge jumps, huge changes are possible and self imposed limits simply are not real. And so for me, we have had massive jumps in our revenue year over year from 1.4 to over 7 million. And then for this year when we do 10, 12 or 14, 15 million, I just know that it's possible. Like, I just know that I don't. The goal, the jumps don't have to make sense. I want it to be so outrageous. It's like, how has that happened? Well, I just, I believe that it could. And so it did. And we did the hard work to get there and we prayed and all these things. But like you have to believe it's possible in the first place. Some people with their ads, I'm like, do you actually want this to work? Do you believe that this could work? And I can just tell when they don't. And so that's one of the things that really matters, is how you think about your dreams and how possible they are. So this is for you if you are a visionary who is stuck in realistic thinking. And it is for you if you are ready to think beyond incremental gains and just have substantial exponential gains instead. Next book is 4x is easier than 2x. So the core belief for me from this book that I wrote down was that subtraction creates scale and that growth is not about adding, it's about cutting. Like Michelangelo's David. So when Michelangelo was crafting David out of marble, he someone asked him and he was like, well, how did you do it? And he was like, I just removed everything that wasn't David. And so now Lord Beth and I will be like, it's not David. And we know what we're saying. And all she's saying Is, yeah, that's not. That's off the path, that's off the lane. There's so many side projects like, ooh, what if we did this? Entrepreneurs love to be like, well, I could just do this and I could have this extra little thing. And like, I am just so staying in my lane. Like, I see the opportunities for these other things, but I'm like, I'm gonna stay on this one lane and just obsessive with this one thing. Because anything that takes away from the thing is the reason I won't get where I wanna be. So. And we won't get where we wanna be. So it's really about cutting and elimination. And so better ads don't say more. They say less focus beats effort. And so really being intentional and cutting away what is not gonna grow. And so this is for you if you're overextended and if your business is drowning in complexity and you're really trying to simplify. Next book was Atomic Habits. So the core belief for me with that one was that small systems are made out of. Or, sorry, small systems create massive outcomes. My biggest takeaway was habit stacking. So it talks about creating a habit and then putting another habit right after that habit. Like in sequence. Like, you do this thing and that thing and it was very identity based and how habits actually change everything in your life and business. And I have seen it, I have felt it, I've experienced it. And there are habits from atomic habits that I implement today that have truly led me to where I am today. So this is for you. If you are someone who relies on motivation rather than a system, and if you are just craving sustainability and consistency, this is one of those books that can really make that happen, which is incredible. The next book is actually buy back your time. So this one is you have to pay to free time to have time to make money. So this was one of the reasons that I was so confident and ready to be able to work with Rose. Rose is my personal and executive assistant. And I really believed that I couldn't afford at the time for her to be a part of the team. And what I found was I couldn't afford not for her to be a part of the team. And I had to pay for that expertise and for her to be able to take things off my plate so that I could have less things on my plate so I could make money. And the way that I make money was by making our thing better. It's by advertising and making our. Making a system in a process and a Framework where our clients win, because when they win, they tell a friend, and when they tell a friend, we win. And then when we win, the team wins. And when the team wins, the clients win. It's like this whole thing like it is. I'm obsessed with saying, how much time can I get in my life to be able to make our product and our business and our content and our value so good so that the whole thing grows? So this is for you. If you are burned out, you're doing way too many things, and you're still doing a lot of your personal tasks in your life. So this is for DIYers who have truly outgrown doing everything for themselves. Book number seven is who not how. So this is that delegation multiplies capacity. So instead of asking, like, how do I do this? It's asking, who could do this better than me? That even comes with personal delegation. It comes with business. Like, I am constantly asking myself and pausing and saying, do I need to be doing this? Who else could be doing this better than me? That has become my default. So this is for you. If you are very control oriented, you think not everybody can do what you do the way that you do it. And for leaders who are really ready to build a really strong team, the next book that I read was Peak Performance. So the takeaway for this for me was that stress without rest is a mess, but stressed with rest creates progress. And so if you are stressing and not resting, you will burn out. And I experienced that, and it was really hard. And what I've learned is that recovery is part of performance. In fact, it's a key ingredient of performance. So this is for you. If you are a high achiever running on fumes, you feel yourself burning out, you feel overwhelmed, you're starting to not love the business so much, and you are confusing hustle with effectiveness. The next book is the Science of Scaling. And so what I got out of this was what got you here will not get you there. And who got you here may not be the people that get you there. And so one of the things I'm having to think about as we grow the company is who are the teammates that run the $25 million business? Because there's a certain team that got us to 10 million. And just saying is that the team. And are these future teammates the team that can actually take us to 25 million, to 50 million, to 100 million? And it's a really hard one. It's gonna basically tell you to change half your business. Let. Let people Go let you know, change your process, change your offers, and just really like scale by creating utter simplicity and only having a players in your world and in your team. And so it was a hard book for me to read a little bit. It was so good. So what I found is this is for you. If you are a founder who's entering a next level of growth and you are navigating team and role shifts and growth and you're trying to figure out we have grown actually to something substantial, how do we go to the very next level? This book is for you. It is really good and it has challenged me in so many ways. So it kind of reminded me that your work and how your business is working will change at different levels and that the people around you may need to change too in relationships and friend and your team and your consultants. However you're operating the business the way you're operating it at one level won't necessarily be the same way you'll operate at another level. It gave great examples of a CEO who came into this $100 million company, let 25% of the people go, let 25% of the clients go, and then within two years had a $400 million company. That's insane. But it came through insane action and like just refusing mediocrity and requiring just only the tip top all in folks, clients, platform systems and beyond. It was really good. I'm actually in the last chapter of that book. And then the number 10 is the artist way. So the core belief for me was that you were created by a creator to create, and you have to take your creator on a date to elevate. I know that rhymes so much, but it's so true. I'll say it again. You are created by a creator to create, and you have to take that creator and that artist on a date so you can elevate. And so it's basically saying you need an artist's date for if you feel blocked creatively, you take care of your artist, which is you. And there were so many times in the last year as we were growing that I didn't want to show up on camera. And it was like, because I wasn't taking care of the artist, I wasn't giving the artist time to be creative, time to have fun. It was like it talks about how journaling and taking yourself to do something fun and different by yourself can open up all this creativity. And it has for me. And so it talks about how artists need care and space and play and that journaling clears creative blocks and that complaining kills creativity. So it's really good. And so this is for you if you're burned out, if you feel like you have creative block or you feel disconnected from your intuition and that creative spark. So it has just been so, so good for me. So every one of these books didn't just change how I worked. They changed who I was and how I was creating. And when your identity shifts, your business will follow too. So for me, it was really helpful for me to have a place where even in that morning pages with the journal and even with some of these books, having something to look forward to, having someone to look forward to learning from. Because just like ads, books compress time. They allow you to get knowledge sooner. Same thing with ads. Ads allows you to get revenue sooner because people are finding you. And it was just these. These things. Like, I kind of put it all together. I wrote down, if you're stuck, it's most often not because you don't necessarily know enough. It might be because you're operating out of an old belief. Now I'm the biggest person on learning, but sometimes we know what we need to do. It's just like actually showing up to do it and feeling creative enough to bring it forward. And so that's what the books really helped with. And what I found for me is that the books don't just teach me something, they help me upgrade my identity. And you will operate from and have the success of the identity that you carry. And so sometimes you have to kind of shift your identity and who you are and what you're consuming. And these books are one of the ways to do that. Is how do you think you want to upgrade your thinking? Let's see whose thoughts have led to XYZ results and how can we, like, look at those thoughts and beliefs to be able to adopt some of those and try them on, like, clothes as our own, which is really nice. So those books were so helpful. So another thing that could be really helpful for you when it comes to, like, speeding up your revenue is honestly the Win with Paid Ads challenge.
