Welcome to the Marketing Matters podcast for small business owners, entrepreneurs, and really anyone who has anything that you want more people to find. Because you being the best kept secret helps no one, right? And that's because you can be so great at what you do. But if you aren't great at advertising what you do, then no one can find you. Right? That's why in every single episode, I'm going to show you how you can use paid ads to hit your goals 10 times sooner. It's time you finally learn how to win with paid ads. I'll show you how to score and be known by more. Let's get started. This is actually going to be a short episode. I was listening to this song, and it's by Chris Stapleton, and he's just a country music artist. I say, just like, he's incredible. His. His music is wonderful. Him and his wife do some songs together, and there's this song that he wrote, and it's called Starting Over. Okay, so I'm going to read to you those lyrics and it says, this might not be an easy time there's rivers to cross and hills to climb and some days we might fall apart and some nights might feel cold and dark but nobody wins who's afraid of losing? And the hard roads are the ones worth choosing Someday we'll look back and smile and know that it was worth every mile the reason that I wanted to read that to you is because, gosh, it's very easy to look at any business, any person who is really winning, and really, you only see the winds. But there's one line in particular. God, the whole thing. Let me. Let me digest some of this for you. It's not easy. Let's start with the first one. This might not be an easy time. I'll be honest. I have two kids. As I record this, under the age of five. It's not easy growing a business with two little humans. It takes hard work. It takes making sure they're taken care of and you're taken care of. And it takes just shifting your life in order to be so present in both areas. And I'm not perfect at it. And anybody who looks perfect at it, they may have developed a system. But there. It's not that there aren't hard times. It says, there's rivers to cross and hills to climb. There is no one who zaps their fingers and said, this wasn't this. This was easy peasy. I had no hills. It was just pretty smooth. And it says, in some days we might fall apart. Do not be deceived if you're not. If you're listening on the podcast. I'm wearing a sweatshirt today. My hair's kind of a mess. But I wanted to share this with you today. And it's very easy to just see the outside, the glimmer and the shine. But for everything, there's an equal and opposite. So for every sparkly sequin dress you see, there's a sweatshirt messy hair day for me, for everybody. It says some days, some nights we might feel cold and dark, but nobody wins who's afraid of losing. And that one line is the reason I wanted to record this short episode with you. Nobody wins who is afraid of losing. And in my opinion, it's losing the game, it's losing money, it's losing time. If you are afraid of losing, you will not win. You won't. You ha. Winners expect to win. They anticipate the positive outcome. Losers, the people that don't, don't win, which is the opposite. Losers anticipate the loss, they anticipate the, that it doesn't work out for them. And they actually, you know, I, I see this sometimes and listen, I, we, I think we've all been there at some point in our lives. But if you find yourself looking for excuses or to blame anybody else for you not getting the result you want, you need to look inside, you need to look at you, you need to go look in the mirror because you are responsible for the life you want to live, the impact you want to have, the money you want to make. Macy, my coach. Macy and Kat. Macy is so intense in the absolute best way. And she's like, I just, I know I'm going to learn or I'm going to earn. She's like, she just knows that like nothing bad, there's nothing that can come bad from any decision that she makes because it's either going to be great for her or she's going to learn something. And so I just really want you to think about and look at how, and here's the thing, nobody wins alone either. Alone is a low revenue zone, right? I just want you to think about how the people that win, you listen to podcasts, you listen to their books, you watch them on tv. And the most genuine, kind hearted people that are purely just winning, they just don't look for excuses because they don't have time. I just had this on my heart today. I had to share it and I know it's so hard for me to actually have a strong opinion on something sometimes and be like I stand firm in this, but I just want you to monitor your thoughts because nobody wins who's afraid of losing? Let's look at the rest of this verse. Nobody wins. Afraid of losing. And when I say afraid of losing, like, don't get me wrong, I have experienced physical pain from just having those. Those moments where I'm like, God, this is going to work out like I hope. And. And what I've found is I've almost conditioned my brain to say, you don't have time to sit in that thought. Like that serves you 0%. The doubt, the questioning, the looking for someone else to blame. It just doesn't get you closer to where you want to be. So in my opinion, you don't have time to be afraid of losing. All you have time to do is be anticipating how you can win. And what can you do differently so that you can win because you are in control of it. Because it says the hard roads are the ones worth choosing. And gosh, isn't it tempting to just look at the things that we're good at that are easy, that we understand, instead of the very thing we know we need to do? The hard roads are the ones that are worth choosing because they're the things that get you where you want to go. And it's just crazy how we can distract ourselves to really want to do anything else besides the things that we know we need to do to make a difference. But it says someday we'll look back and smile and we will know it is worth every mile. I'm going to be honest with you, I. It's been the last year has been the fastest year of growth and it has not come without its challenges. I've had to make very hard decisions. I've had to spend a lot of money. Honestly, the more money you make, the more money you're spending. Okay, so I'm still investing constantly. And I just know that this is a growth period. And I'm going to look back and I'm going to say, gosh, all the hard work, all the extra time, some of the sleep that was lost, it's not maintainable. I'm not going to burn, burn, burn myself out indefinitely. I'm willing to do the work because I love it. And also it doesn't feel like work. But I know and I want you to know too. Everything you're doing, I see you. Every bit of work you're putting in, especially if you are a mom or you're taking care of other human beings, a spouse, kids, dogs, pets, people, sometimes you do so much, and you don't. You're like, does anybody really see all that I'm doing? Does anyone really see? It's the groceries, it's the presents for. For Christmas, it's the wrapping, it's the parties, it's the being present at the events, it's the coordinating the child care, it's the packing the bags for school, it's the bills, it's the, you know, work. It's. It's the team. It's a million different things. And sometimes I know because I've been there. It feels like, man, if. If only anyone could really see every little, little thing that you're doing. And I just want to tell you today, I see you doing it, and you take a minute and be proud of yourself for what you're doing for you. And don't feel guilty for just the work you're pouring into your business, because it is going to. I believe. I believe this for certain for me and for you. You can't see all the reward of it right now. You may see some. But, like, the real reward, that real gift of paid ads for you is the time that it gives you a couple years from now when you can go pick up your kids anytime you want. You can take off any bit of work that you want. You can take the trip, and money just never has to be a factor in the decision. It's like, oh, can we do this? I don't know if we can afford this. Like, what if that's just, like, never a part of the decision? What if it's like, I want to give to this charity, so I do. I want to go take this trip, so I do. I want to give this gift to someone, so I do. That is the. The freedom, the weight that'll be lifted off your shoulders when you create a business and a system and a machine that serves people and helps people that is automatically findable. So that's actually precisely what we're going to be talking about at the Power of Paid Ad Summit, by the way.
