Welcome to the Win with Paid Ads podcast for small business owners, entrepreneurs, and really anyone who has anything you want more people to find. Whether you're starting from ground zero or scaling an eight figure business, you are exactly who this podcast was created for. Because you being the best kept secret helps no one. Right? You may be the best at what you do, but if you aren't the best at advertising what you do, then you're leaving money on the table. That's why in every episode, I'll show you how you can use paid ads to hit your goals 10 times sooner. It's time you finally learn how to win with paid ads. You or someone on your team can do this. I'll show you how to score and be known by more. Let's get started. Did you know racehorses wear blinders? Yeah, they put on blinders and it's not because they're weak. It is because they are built to win. The blinders actually protect their power. And if you want your business to move forward faster, then you've got to do the same thing. So on this episode, we're going to talk about how putting your blinders on allows you to focus, go all in, and stops letting your distractions steal your success. So this is going to be a really good one. And by the way, don't forget that you are built to win too. And that is why you belong in the room with other winners in the Win with Paid Ads challenge. You'll be in a room with other six, seven and and eight figure entrepreneurs. And it is an incredible place for you to think about advertising in a completely different way than you ever have before. And listen, I've been doing advertising all day, every day for over a decade for Fortune 500 companies. I spent over $200 million on ads. I've run a multimillion dollar company myself because I'm helping other business owners and entrepreneurs with six, seven and eight figure businesses just like you do the very same thing. You belong in that room and it's going to be incredible. And so is this episode. So let's jump in. So this blinder analogy is so cool. So race horses, the reason that they wear those blinders when they're running is to stay focused, avoid panic, and not be distracted by the other horses. How many of us need to put on some dadgum blinders and stop getting distracted by the other people running beside us so that we can just focus on what we need to do? We are human beings. It happens all the time. But you will actually run faster and straighter when you're not looking side to side, right? When you're doing this constantly and you're left and right and left and right, you can't be focused on where you're going and get there as quickly as you can when you don't look side by side. So I want you to. There's a few different things I'm gonna ask you to do today. There's actually probably five different things I'm gonna share with you today about your focus. And so the first one is the reasons that you're putting on your blinders. Okay? So the first thing you have to do is put on your blinders to block the negativity. Because I really want you to think about this. You don't need, you don't need more strategies. You need less distractions. You need to put on these blinders and be able to focus. And the reason is to block negativity. That's one of the reasons. Maybe it's fear, maybe it's imposter syndrome, maybe it's judgment, maybe it's other discouraging voices that are in your life. But, but you have to filter what, what gets in here, okay? You have to contra, like you really have to protect your momentum in order to control your output. And if you are letting your momentum be distracted by other people who are running beside you in different lanes at different times, you simply will not get where you want to go as quickly or as happily because that negativity is going to steal some of that happiness from you. And it's not just annoying. It is a form of distraction disguised as a concern. And actually what's interesting is this Harvard study found that negative emotions actually reduce your cognitive ability and decision making accuracy by up to 30%. So you simply being negative is actually literally affecting your brain and your decision making process because you were being so negative. That is why I love encouraging my clients to say who, what they offer is for and not for. Because when you are surrounded by people that are negative and everything always happens to them and it's just so draining, then you're, you're going to feel drained and you're going to love what you, you get to do so much. So if they're like, hey, I'm getting clients for my ads, they're not the right ones. I'm like, well, let's be more clear and specific and put on our blinders and only talk to the people that we want to sell to. And I just want you to ask yourself, like, if you wouldn't take business Advice from someone, don't let their opinions take up rent in your mind. Right? And even if you would take business owner, like business advice from them, really think about, is now the right time for me to listen to this? I can't tell you how, how many times it's like, I need to just finish this one book before I start this other one. I need to just focus and really focus on this one thing before I do this next thing. So that's why the second thing that you can really think about when it comes to blinders on is putting your blinders on around your competitors. So watching others, watching what others are doing can make you actually question your own path, even when it's working. Am I the only one that's ever felt like that? Like, have you ever seen what your competitors are doing? You're like, hang it maybe. God, okay, they're doing that. Should I change what I'm doing? And it's, and it's such a distraction. Put on your blinders. I had to put my phone in another room the other night. I think I talked about that. I was like, I accidentally got sucked into this hole on my phone and I was like, I was like, man, I've been in a warp zone or whatever. And I'm like, had to toss this thing. I'm like, this was not good for me. God, how long did I go right? That is not good. Because it makes you question if you're even doing the right thing. And that comparison delays your you taking action and actually makes your lane feel unclear to be in. It's not good for you. Sometimes we just got to put on our distractions or our blinders to eliminate distractions, especially from our competitors. I just wanted to remind you really quickly that if you haven't joined the Win with Paid Ads challenge, the doors are closing soon. And just as a refresher, this is five days of you and or someone on your team learning my five part strategy to scale your paid ads. Day one is messaging, which is what you say and how you say it. Day two is setting, which is all the different places you can place your ads. Think Google Ads versus YouTube meta or TikTok. Day three is targeting, which is how you can get in front of your exact, exact right person. Day four is testing, so you can know what to test and how to improve your ads. And day five is scaling and profiting and how you can 10x whatever you're spending on your ads now so that you can have more profit and return and impact, which is ultimately what you Want, right? So click the link below and I cannot wait to see you in the Win with Paid Ads challenge. Every minute that you spend watching your competitors is a minute that you're wasting not sharpening your own edge. Think about what you could be doing with all the time that you're spending watching someone else. What if those minutes added up like ads add up? What if those minutes added up to four minutes here, 12 minutes here, and next thing you know, a month later, you're like, oh, I actually had like seven hours to learn ads, to do ads, or to get ads set up for my team. I was just in this hole of comparing myself to other people. So according to a Psychology Today study, social comparison is linked to increased anxiety, self, and reduced self confidence, which directly impacts your business momentum. I know you're not surprised by it, but why are we still doing it? Are we still getting so distracted by our competitors instead of, like, staying in our lane? And so 1 thought I want to share with you as you consider learning ads, like in. In your ads, your clarity wins. And you can't write or run confident campaigns if you're constantly second guessing your direction based on somebody else's. Like, when you just say, I'm doing my lane and I'm going, your ads will perform better because you're more excited about it and you're so clear and your blinders are on so that you can focus on you and your business and your path. So the third reason you need to put on your blinders is to protect your mind space. And one thing I've seen my clients do, and I love them so much because they're so eager to learn. Sometimes what they do is they over learn. All right? You can over drink, you can overeat, you can overdo your makeup. You can also over learn. All right? Don't be listening to five books, 37 podcasts, 17 training courses all at once. Because then people are coming to be like, oh, well, I heard over here, it's like, what if for one year you said, these are my one to three people that I'm gonna really listen to? People have said, I'm in another coaching program. I'm like, great. Well, is it about paid advertising specifically? It's not. Okay, then you need to do this. And you can still have that one or other two people. And those be your guides, those be your polls, those be. It's almost like you're paying a consultant in your business. One of my clients, I love her so much. She owns an incredible interior design firm and she was Like, I feel like I could have paid for another, like, employee instead of, like, paying for all this coaching. And I was like, if you actually think about it, you're paying for a coach, which is a consultant, which is someone that you're paying to be a part of your company and your team. Like you are paying for a teammate. Honestly, it's just you don't have to pay benefits and give them unlimited paid time off and all these other perks. Like, you're actually paying for a consultant. That's what a coach is. So find those people and go all in on them and listen to them fully before piling on more noise with other people and other opinions, right? Because if you get too much input, you will have no output because all you're doing is putting all this new information, new information, new. And your sponge, well, guess what happens to a sponge when it gets so absorbent, right? It's like got so much pouring into it, it's literally overflowing. I don't even have to squeeze that sponge. It's leaking already. It's overwhelmed. It's too full, right? Don't be a sponge. Don't overdo it. Consume, yes, but don't over consume, because too much input will lead to no output, because consuming too many voices will create confusion. But clarity. Clarity comes from implementation, not always just more information. Take the information and implement. That is where the clarity comes from. Because you will learn so much more by doing than you will simply just consuming. A University of London study found that multitasking and having multiple sources of information actually drops your IQ by up to 10 points, which is the same as losing a night of sleep. It's like, okay, so if you actually are truly trying to consume too much, you're actually, like, not able to be as effective with what you have. So consider honing in on just a few voices for a minute. And that's why when my clients come in, they're like, well, what ad should I start with, Ashley? There's so many ads. I'm like, let's just start with one and master that one first, and then we'll move on to the others. Because I don't want you to have too many campaigns, too many voices, too many things at once. All right, last two things is put your blinders on to saying yes to opportunities. This is one I've struggled with. I'm just going to be completely honest with you. And it's the hardest thing for me to do. I recently had someone who is absolutely incredible, and I am partnering with him. On this project. And he actually spoke to my mastermind group yesterday or day before. Did an incredible job. He wanted to do an in person event this year. And guess what? I wanted to do an in person event this year. And I said, yes, let's do it. And then the more I thought about it and the more I was realistic, I'm like, I am sacrificing my sanity. And my family will pay the price. I will pay the price. My team will pay the price. The price is just not enough. Like, yes, I want it. Yes, I want. I knew if we could create a great event together. And it was really hard for me because I said yes at first and I said no. And I just want you to consider owning your no. Like, no one else can be in your relationships. No one else can show up for your kids. No one else can be the you that you can. And so sometimes saying no is saying yes to what matters most. And as someone who loves making people happy, I don't want to miss out on an opportunity because I have a scarcity mindset that I'm recovering from to an abundance mindset. But it's like, oh, well, what if this is the only opportunity? And what if this never comes back again? And. And. And if you really believe that you are doing what God has called you to do, God will open up doors for you that you don't even know are there right when you need them to open. And so be okay saying no when your gut says no. I'm not saying don't say yes to anything because you said there's some things and it's not preventing. It's your scarcity mindset or it's a lack of belief. Like, if that's why you're saying no because you have a lack of belief in you or you're just. You have a scarcity mindset. That's not the reason to say no. The reason to say no is when you know it comes at too much of a cost of something else. Now there's so many yeses that I've done, and I'm like, thank God I said yes when I was scared to say yes. Thank God that even when it was just like a money thing, like, I just. It was. The reason I was gonna say no was cause of money, and I couldn't let that be the case. So I borrowed money, I leveraged debt, and I'm so glad I did that. There's just such a difference in over committing yourself versus committing yourself to the right things. There's some things you need to, like, say no to other things so that you can say yes to the thing you know you should do. And I'm biased. But if you got a business and you're not advertising it, that should be not one of the things you don't do, right? Because your business will shut down over time, and I don't want that for you. So just really being intentional of owning your no. Because every yes is a trade off. And when you say yes to the wrong thing, this is big, okay? When you say yes to the wrong thing, you're saying no to your calling. You know when you're supposed to do it. You know when you're not. There's this Harvard Business Review study, and it showed that the most successful executives attributed their success to one habit. And it said they said no to almost everything that was not mission critical. And in the book 10x is easier than 2x, one of the things it talks about is Michelangelo when he was building David out of marble. The way that he built David was he chipped away everything that was not David. So he. He saw what he wanted and chipped away everything else, and that's what he was left with. And so now Lord Beth and I, my director of operations, she's like, it's not David. Everything that's not David. On mission, Put your blinders on. Like, that's what we say. That's why I'm like, I have to do an episode on putting your blinders on. Because I say that all the time. And here's what I mean by it. So if you're not aligned with what you're focused on, right? As the most important thing, it's a no period. Last but not least, why you need to put your blinders on is because focus actually leads to faster results. People have asked me, even recently, like, gosh, I feel like a lot of things are happening so quickly. And it is because I am focused on the mission, the one thing. And if you do one thing long enough and well enough, it can be your thing that can speed up everything for you. People pretty much quit their ads, their offers and their efforts, just because their focus is scattered and they're not focusing on one thing at a time. And they're like, I'm overwhelmed. I'm like, I don't blame you. You think it's ads that are the problem. Ads are not the problem. It's your focus, and it is you saying yes to too many things, right? So just say, stay focused on the one thing. Because focus isn't just discipline. It is truly your fa. Your fastest path to mastery. And there's this study from this book called the Deep Work by Cal Newport. And it says focused work leads to 400% increased productivity than distracted or multitask work. You think you're multitasking? I promise you, you will not be as productive when that's the only thing that you focus on. It's why I have to do this with me. I work to do this with my team. I'm like, I'd rather you not be on the meeting than do both. I'd rather you do this than that. Like, I do the same thing. I'm like, why am I even attending this coaching call? Like, there's just one coaching call. Love to attend. And it's like, why am I always doing something else? I don't even remember what was said. Or I remember two things, right? So trying to pick your focus and it will lead to greater productivity and greater mastery. So if you go all in on learning ads for 90 days, your results will absolutely outpace someone who has been dabbling for nine months. Truly, if you just focus on that one thing. So here's what I want to leave you with before we wrap up this episode. Here's the summary of everything we talked about. Blinders aren't about limitation. They're about liberation. Number two, you owe it to yourself to stay focused on what you actually said that you wanted. Number three, staying. Saying no actually leaves room to say yes to what matters. Number four is focused energy compounds. Blinders protect your power. And you won't win the race by looking around. You'll win it by staying in your lane and going all in. Speaking of going all in, I would love to see you all in in the Win with paid ads challenge where we dive in and go all in into the five, really the four ingredients that lead to profitable ads. And so profitable ads is day five. So in the five days we talk about messaging, which is what you say. Setting, which is where you say it. Targeting, which is who you say it to. Testing, which is how you improve it and scaling and profiting, which is when do you go all in. So I would love to get to see you live in the challenge.
