How serious are you taking your business right now? Are you halfway in, halfway out? And this question I asked on a recent coaching call inside of MSA that really got a lot of my clients thinking is, what are you avoiding right now that you know that you want to do that you're not doing? Welcome to the MedSpa CEO podcast, where I teach you how to grow and scale your med, spa or aesthetic practice so that you can have the income and impact you know you were meant for without overwhelm, stress, or feeling like you have to sacrifice your personal life and happiness to do so. It's totally possible for you and your business. Plus, simpler than you think. Keep listening to find out how. Welcome, y'all, to another episode of the podcast. Today's topic might be my favorite topic of 2024. We're talking about burning the boats and storming the island for 2025. It's time to stop playing small. This episode is for you. For the trailblazers, for those that are looking for not a measly 10% growth in 2025. You're looking for illogical, delusional growth in 2025. The kind of growth that you're actually scared to share, maybe with your husband or certain loved ones because you know that they'll just give you that look like, isn't she cute? Maybe that's just me. You have incredible goals. You're looking to potentially retire your husband or partner at some point. You have aging parents that you would love to take care of. You have kids that maybe are looking at really expensive colleges, and you're thinking to yourself, dang, I would love to make it so that I didn't even have to think twice about those types of things. You're looking to play on a bigger stage. You're looking to show up in a bigger way. You're looking to have 10x type of growth. Not the type of growth that is marginal, but that explosive type of growth. If that is you, this episode was created for you. And if that is you, then I am the coach you should be working with in the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025 and all the way through the year because we are going for it right now. I have noticed I have done a bunch of work on myself. As you know, for those of you who've been a longtime listener of this, I'm a certified life coach. I believe that investing in myself is the best investment that I can make. And for many of you you feel the same way. Your personal development junkies like me. And what I've noticed this last year in the work that I'm doing, as I really push myself and really expand myself to go to delusional levels of growth, is that there are so many different areas where I am playing small, and I don't even notice that I'm playing small. There's so many different areas of my business that I'm just not taking seriously. I was actually watching with my daughter Reese, the other night over this past weekend, the new Martha Stewart documentary, and it's called Martha. It's on Netflix. Highly recommend watching it. Talk about a trailblazer. Talk about somebody. I mean, she was a bulldog, don't get me wrong. Not necessarily the type of person I would want to work for. Very, very demanding. But she took herself so seriously. She took her business so seriously. And I'm just gonna give you a little bit of backstory for those of you who aren't familiar with her story. So she was raised in a big family where her parents were pretty demanding, not very loving and warm, but she learned a lot from them because her dad was an exceptional gardener and her mom was an amazing cook. And she ends up going to the Bernard School at Columbia for college. That's where she ends up meeting her husband. And she models. She models in high school and in college. And so she uses the modeling money to help support her family and to support herself. And she's a really attractive woman. And this was in the 60s, I believe. And when she graduated from college, she had already married her husband, who she ended up married to for, like, 27 years. And his father was a really successful stockbroker or something in the financial industry. And through that, she ended up actually having a career as a stockbroker first.
B
Okay.
A
To give you a sense of what time in history, she was one of the first women stockbrokers. They did not have women on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. So to give you the kind of chutzpah that she had to have. And she ends up being really good. She was making anywhere from 125, I think, to $250,000 as a stockbroker, which in today's money would be like making a million dollars a year in that. And so she became successful in that, and the market took a turn at one point, and she ended up losing some money for some clients and really just got disheartened with that industry and leaves it. And so she leaves that career and ends up moving with her Husband and her young daughter to Connecticut, which at the time, I guess Westport's like bougie bougier now, but at the time it was a little bit more rural. And so they move there and they buy this like dilapidated farm. It's. I don't know how many acres it was, but house that was like in disrepair. And so they buy this house and she ends up renovating the whole house herself, growing incredible gardens. And her husband is actually some sort of publishing. I don't know if he's the CEO of a big publishing company or what have you. And so after they've redone this house, she actually starts hosting parties for some of her husband's publishing peers and, you know, authors and what have you. And so she starts hosting these parties. And what ends up happening is she is so incredibly good at cooking, at entertaining. She makes everything from scratch. She knew how to create these beautiful charcuterie boards and, you know, incredible displays of like meats and fruits and flowers. Everything we know her to be, she was doing before it was in vogue. She was doing it before we had Pinterest, if you will. And so what happened was she started doing this, and then people started asking her if she could do this for their parties and events. And so she ends up launching a catering business.
B
Okay.
A
And so she launches this catering business that ends up being like a multimillion dollar catering business. And then eventually, because her husband was in the publishing industry, she gets connected with somebody who's like, you should really create a book around this fabulousness, around the food, around the entertaining and what have you. And so she ends up getting her very first book deal. And what I thought was remarkable about Martha and her story, and that is leaving an impression on me, is that Martha decided ahead of time she did not have proof that taking any of these things seriously, meaning taking catering seriously, taking cooking, taking rental, renovating a house, taking gardening as seriously as she did, would actually amount to anything. But everything that Martha does, she does all in. She goes for the 10x version of it, if you will. And my daughter and I were talking about how we don't always do that. Right. It had me start reflecting. So to not leave you hanging on the story, most of you know her story or some facsimile of her story. But she went on to be the first self made billionaire woman in the United States. She went on to create what she called Martha Stewart Omnimedia. This was before there were personal brands. She was like literally the first influencer, the first personal brand. And she Created her entire corporation around her, her brilliance and what have you. But what I want to share with you today, the biggest takeaway that I had from that and her exponential success is the fact that she went on all in on things, she did things exceptionally. She took herself seriously at a time when people did not take what, you know, stay at home, moms, or you know, living if you will, which is what she ended up coining. What she did, which is Martha Stewart living, she became an aspiration for having just a well lived life, meaning amazing food, amazing entertaining, beautiful homes, beautiful gardens. And she is the one who decided ahead of time that that is important enough for her to take seriously. And then because she took it seriously, everybody else around her eventually followed suit. And what I see a lot of the business owners that I work with and quite frankly, even as I have gotten introspective on myself and different aspects of my business, is that where are you not taking yourself seriously? Which aspects of your business are you sort of half assing, if you will? I just noticed that for so many of you, you are waiting until certain parts of what you're doing is proving to you that it's worthy to go all in on rather than being like Martha and deciding ahead of time that you are going to go all in on it first. That doesn't work. It's actually backwards. You have to burn the boats and decide that you are gonna go all in and then everyone else around you will believe it first of all. But then you'll start seeing the proof and the results of going all in. So I have some questions, I have some questions that I want you to ponder.
B
Okay.
A
How serious are you taking your business right now? Are you halfway in, halfway out? And this question I asked on a recent coaching call inside of MSA that really got a lot of my clients thinking is what are you avoiding right now that you know that you want to do that you're not doing? I even want you to pause this episode right now. Take a piece of paper and a pen. What are you avoiding right now that you know you want to do that has you've been putting on the back burner? I have a client a few months ago, it was probably six months ago, and we were on a coaching call inside of MSA and she was sharing that she has been wanting to launch a certification, a training program. And I asked her, I'm like, how long have you been wanting to do that? And she said three years. Three years. And she had kept putting it on the back burner, waiting for the oceans to part. And for this perfect opportunity, what I'm telling you right now is you have to seize the opportunity. I'm gonna share with you how I am shifting, how I'm taking certain aspects of my business more seriously.
B
Okay?
A
So to finish out what I was just saying, to write down what you're avoiding, you probably know what it is really quickly. When we did this exercise inside of msa, actually, my clients knew really quickly. It was like people were dropping it in the chat right away. They knew what they were avoiding. You likely know what you're avoiding. What you're avoiding is likely the lever that is going to change is going to create a big shift in your business.
B
Okay?
A
Because we avoid the things that we perceive are going to be uncomfortable. Right? We are very habitual. So shaking ourselves and realizing what we are getting into the mundane routine of doing is super critical to actually shifting and doubling down on the things that, you know, you need to be doing. But conceptually, I'm going to give you some examples of what I'm doing right now. So this is very meta right now. My podcast is one of those things that. Here we are on around the 200th episode. Okay? My podcast is one of the core content marketing pieces of my business.
B
Okay?
A
You know how simple I like to keep my marketing. So I have my podcast, I have my Instagram, I have Facebook and Instagram ads, and I have my email list. And in 2025, we're gonna have some YouTube. Can I get an amen? Dani and Brianne, who are in here listening to me record this episode. Cause they're gonna help me do it. But really, I like to keep things simple and focused. And I really started asking myself. I was talking to my daughter about Martha, and we were like, dang, she believes in herself. She is a bulldog. She goes out and she takes it, right? She goes out and she creates it. She doesn't wait for permission. Nobody, quite frankly, thought that what she was doing was a good idea. Meaning beyond the book, right? Going out and actually creating an entire empire around what she thinks is awesome, essentially, which was what Martha Stewart Omnimedia was. So asking myself, if I were to split out my podcast, as an example, my Instagram, my email list, okay, my Facebook and my Instagram ads, each of those were multimillion dollar money makers for me. How would I approach each of those opportunities or avenues or channels differently? I was, like, shook because I am not approaching those. Each of those avenues like that. And so for 2025 and beyond, I'm taking Each of those channels more seriously. I'm leveling up what I'm going to do on the podcast. I believe ahead of time that my podcast, that my email list, that my Instagram are going to be multi, multi million dollar makers for me. And so because I know that they're going to make me millions of dollars, then of course I'm going to show up more seriously to those things. Of course I'm going to invest more time, of course I'm going to invest more money. Of course I'm going to be more intentional with those things. So where are you not taking yourself seriously? If I were to do an audit of your business right now, whether that's your offering, your pricing, whether that's your ads, your organic social media, whether that's the team that you've hired, where are you half assing it, where are you halfway in, halfway out, where are you waiting for that thing to become a big thing and then you'll invest more time and money into it? Because it doesn't work that way. We have to go all in on the things that we decide are the things that are going to be critical for our businesses. We have to decide what we're going to take seriously. Because the more we show up and take things seriously, the bigger the results we will have from those things and the more energetically everything will change. The universe will start conspiring for you. Okay, I believe it's God. You might believe it's the universe, what have you. But there's magic that will happen when you decide that you are going to burn the boats and go all in. And when you actually look and narrow down and look at specific areas and make it more tangible for yourself like I did. It may not be a podcast and an Instagram and your email list and what have you. It's the same thing I'm asking with my offers, all of my offers with msa. I'm launching a mastermind. My signature programs like Signature Menus that sell and five Figure consults. Each of those I am taking way more seriously than what Heather would have done three years ago. Each of those new signature programs that I'm selling, I hired a branding person to create a whole branding kit and experience for each of those things. And that's because, hot damn, each of those offers are gonna make me millions of dollars. I already know it ahead of time, right? And so I am actually putting the momentum in motion. The momentum doesn't happen to me. I create the momentum and it's the same thing for you. So I'M going to leave you with these three questions that I already asked today. How serious are you taking your business? Are you halfway in, halfway out? And what are you avoiding right now that you know you want to do that has been an open loop in your brain for a while now. That you know you need to do that you know you want to do that is going to be critical for you hitting the next level and stepping into that next level of opportunity. Finally, I think the exercise where you really think about maybe it's your offerings, maybe it's your pricing, maybe it's the team that you're hiring, maybe it's hiring a coach, maybe it's hiring a podcast team to help you level up your podcast, maybe it's taking video more seriously. Maybe you're finally going to invest in paid ads. Whatever the area is, how can you take it more seriously? How can you show up to it with already the expectation that that's going to be a multimillion dollar maker for you? How would asking yourself that question help you to show up differently so that we can guarantee that each of those areas actually becomes a money maker for you? All right, my friend, that's what I have for you this week. I will see you next week.
