Putting things in packages helps to explain, like, hey, this isn't just about we want to make more money off of you. This is about we want you to actually get the result that you came in here for. And there's a misunderstanding here. Like, you can't feel like a million bucks going to your doctor for 15 minutes every year, okay, without some accountability, without some kind of follow up, et cetera. Same with the aesthetic goals that a lot of people have. You're not really going to get what you're actually needing or wanting with what you think that you need, because we're the experts in this and we know through experience it's gonna require more than what you're just asking for. So let me explain that to you.

It's totally possible for you and your business. Plus, simpler than you think. Keep listening to find out how. Well, hello and welcome to my beautiful, beautiful client, Krista Elza. Thank you so much for coming on to share your story with us. You have such a unique story and a unique practice. And could you take a moment and just let the listeners know who you are, what you do, what you specialize in, and a little bit more about alive health and your practice and how you help your patients?
A
Yeah. Super excited to be here. Thanks for having me. I am a family practice nurse practitioner and I quickly shifted from primary care mindset to functional medicine, which is really the study of root cause, cause of why we experience symptoms, why we feel the way that we feel. And that is so inspiring to me because we can actually do something with that once we understand what's kind of driving disease in general. And so I started Elive Health based on that, that foundation of helping people feel their best, really focusing on health span, you know, how what can we be doing in our 30s and our 40s, let's say so, so that we feel better decades from now. And that's really where it began. And as I started that, I felt there was a missing link. I really felt like a lot of my patients were also getting aesthetics done somewhere because most people who want to feel good also want to look good. And if they want to feel younger, they want to look younger. And so there was a missing link there. And so from the functional medicine standpoint, I Thought, let's. Let's add onto that. And so I hired some employees to help me bring that aspect into my clinic. And that is where we are right now with Elive Health in Texas here, just offering a holistic practice that helps people feel good, but also look good.
B
Okay, amazing. And so tell us a little bit more about the functional medicine side of things, like who Primarily women in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. Is that kind of like. I mean, I kind of know it, but I know the listener doesn't know it, so I'm just.
A
Yeah, yeah, primarily women. I work with men as well. I just think that most women are attracted to our practice because I'm a woman and I'm kind of in that same age range, but I work with both men and women. The. The main age range, I would say, is between 30 and 60, right about when people are starting to feel like, whoa, I can't just feel great on autopilot anymore. I can't just eat the way I used to eat when I. In my 20s. You know, I made my workouts feel harder to come by. Most of my patients really want to feel like themselves again, and it just doesn't happen on autopilot. So, you know, there's so much information out there on Instagram, on TikTok, on whatever, but it's difficult to gather what you need to do personally. And so a personalized approach to their own health issues with extensive lab work, all of that really helps us pinpoint what they personally need to get back on track. Where does their body specifically need support? And so I use some functional tests. So not only blood work, but we can also look at stool tests, saliva tests, urine tests, I mean, you know, all sorts of bodily fluids give us really great information on what might be driving us, you know, people to feel like they're constantly walking in brain fog or new anxiety or they can't sleep or they just don't perform the way that they used to in their job or in the gym, et cetera. So functional medicine then looks at what's driving those symptoms rather than just saying, oh, take Ambien to sleep. Oh, here's something for your blood pressure. Oh, here's, you know, drink more caffeine in the morning. Why do we feel that way to begin with? And then when we solve that, we really have just a more holistic approach to then getting back to health more naturally, because our bodies innately want to heal, innately want to be vibrant, and there's just a lot that stands in the way in this age group, because 30 to 60 tends to be a really busy time in life for people in their business, with their kids, with their relationships. And so navigating some of that in a holistic way, I find. I mean, people feel 100% better when we really just get back down to, like, some of the unsexy foundational things that drive health.
B
Right. How long ago was it that you discovered that you knew functional medicine was the route you wanted to go? This. I don't know how long ago?
A
Yeah.
B
Was it. Or was it, like, did you decide on it and then it took you a while before you dove into it? Or, you know, what was.
A
What was that decision going way back? I'll age myself with this. But, you know, I became a nurse in the art, in the ER in the year 2000. Okay. So this has been quarter century. Yes. That I've been in this, and we're the same age.
B
So.
A
I loved fixing things. Right? That was the. I love the intensity of the emergency room. I love the intensity of fixing things. So it's very strange that now I'm doing something, you know, completely different, more preventative. But it's not really when I tease it out, because once I went and became a nurse practitioner, my mind would not stop going to what's really driving people to feel this way. You know, in clinicals, when we'd sent primary care settings and see people come in with, you know, on five, six different medications, what got this person here? And so how can we solve it and really, really cure the problem? Right? Like, let's stop the hemorrhage of diabetes, of hypertension, of cholesterol, of anxiety, like, what is happening here? And so that really drove me to, like, I really want to actually fix this. I don't want to just put a bandaid on a bullet wound here. Like, this is never going to stop this. We know where this is heading, and this is heading to a really miserable last couple decades of their life. And so I reached out to different schools that were teaching functional medicine a root cause. And that was back in 2018. I started diving into that at the time. The clinic I was at, we were doing a lot of hormone replacement, but I was finding a lot of women coming in their 30s just wanting testosterone because they had no energy. And I'm thinking, I think there's something. Something just told me there's something else driving that besides, all of a sudden, everyone in mid-30s needs a testosterone pellet. I just couldn't buy into that. And so the more I studied about it and got certified in functional medicine. I realized, oh my gosh, I was limiting myself to one tool when. Let's try, you know, let's. Let's look at a much broader picture of this person's health before we just dive into the only tool I was using really at that time. And it's fascinating. It's fascinating the interconnectedness of our bodies, the. It's fascinating how we naturally have a decline in cell turnover, in our ability to handle stress the older we get sometimes. But it's not impossible. You just have to be aware and have some guidance in how to accomplish that. And that, to me, gives me so much more joy in practicing with people, knowing that I'm really solving the problem. I'm not just going on guidelines of, oh, if their blood pressure is this, give them this medication. It's a different mindset. It also requires my patients to. To be willing to spend more time on themselves and acknowledge that their health ultimately is up to them. Right. They're inside and out. I mean, if you want to improve overall health, it's a partnership in health. It's not just me telling you what to do. My goal for all of my patients is to walk out in their time with me feeling much more empowered in their body instead of constantly giving their power out to help me. I don't know what's going on. Give me a pill to fix it. I value a partnership in that process.
B
Sure. And so when did you know? And was it 2018? You knew? Like, I'm going to not only go this route, but I'm also going to open up my own practice, because that is another entire skill set. In addition to becoming certified in functional medicine and what have you, it's like, you know, the certification of entrepreneurship.
A
Yeah, it's really fun. Yes. And it's really interesting how life is always working in your favor, even though it feels uncomfortable at the time. So I was working in a clinic where I was really wanting to expand and really wanting to spend more time with my patients. But the owner of the clinic was not down with what I was offering. They were not down with the extended time I was spending with people. They were not down with, you know, the approach I was taking. And so it started to become feel really uncomfortable for me and for the owner of that clinic, who, by the way, was not a medical person. They were just the owner of the clinic. But they wanted to tell me kind of how to practice. And that felt uncomfortable. It didn't feel good, but I knew it was sort of the you know, when you're at the end of a high dive and you don't want to jump? It was kind of the push of like, you got to go and you've got to do this because you know what you want to do and you want to run things the way that you want to run them. And so although it was super scary by the time I left that clinic, it was just right around Covid time. And so it worked out really well for me to leave the physical space and start an online offering, where at that time I was just online. I didn't have brick and mortar, but I was able to really create health packages for people, you know, six months at a time to say, hey, do you. Can you commit six months to your health? This is what it includes. And that's kind of where I got my feet wet with business in general. But it was safe because there wasn't a ton of overhead in terms of a building, et cetera. And over time I realized.
B
And telehealth was so huge too at the time because of. Or it expanded during that time because of necessity.
A
Yeah. And so it was just kind of, again, nothing felt comfortable yet. I was just opening up all new doors for myself unknowingly. Right. Like leaving and doing everything online. But I tend to really love to be in person with people. And so when I started to feel that nudge again, it was scary to think about renting a space and where would I go and what would I do and how would I pay for that? I just. Doors opened up where I had like a month by month opportunity in a building. And I thought, well, sure, I can do that. And so I did that and quickly decided I needed a bigger space and found a space that only, you know, that I could commit to two years versus five. And that felt comfortable then. And so I jumped into that. It's very much been a little bit of a step by step process. But every time I've made the commitment to go out on my own, to be a part of a community versus just an online space, it's just unfolded because I trusted step by step. You know, I'm kind of one of those step by step versus dive off the big jump at the beginning. But every time I get I feel a little sticky and uncomfortable, it opens up more and it broadens my horizons a little bit. And that being said, going then to saying, okay, I've now got this bigger space, I've got these rooms to fill. What do I need to add? And that's kind of where My eyes really open up to my patients, really want more holistic in terms of seeing me and having, you know, outward appearance support as well. How can we. How can we manage, you know, aging skin? We're working on our gut health, we're working on our, you know, internal stuff. But then who can I. How can I expand my services to include that? And that's where I've kind of brought in more of an aesthetic side in addition to functional medicine.
B
Right. And that's where we met, however. We met, however you found me on the Internet.
A
Yes, yes, exactly.
B
So when you were. Before you joined MSA or Right. When you joined msa, what were some of the challenges you were experiencing when you were thinking about, you know, because I get asked actually a lot by functional medicine folks like, is MSA a fit for them? And certainly many of them either have aesthetics or bringing in aesthetics like you were at the time as well, too. What would you say to somebody who has that question in the back of their mind?
A
Yeah, for me, I wanted to be able to stand out in a different way because we're not just a med spa. And so I didn't want to be categorized as just another med spa in our town. I wanted to also offer more comprehensiveness like I did in my health packages. These, you know, I typically require my patients to work with me on a minimum of four months commitment. And I really liked. I was attracted to the fact that you really spoke to that in the aesthetic world of cool, you want this, but this is what you actually need. Right. So we want to give them what they want, but then. Or sell them what they want, but really give them what they need. And that requires people to understand that it's not just a one visit with me, it's not just a one time. For most people, they need more advanced things, you know, on their face, whether it's services or products or what have you. And it vibed with me and how I was already working with my patients, what my patients were already used to working with me, that that would be a very good partnership in how our aesthetic side also worked, that we want to really get you the results. And to do that, that requires a bit more commitment to really get what you want. Otherwise, what are we doing? Right. So that attracted me initially to your programs, for sure.
B
Yeah. And it's, it's interesting because it isn't natural in the aesthetics industry. Although that's my, like, that's my goal, that's my, like, mission in the aesthetics industry, is to make it more industry standard that we do have comprehensive packages, programs, whatever the nomenclature is that you want to use for, for it, an approach to it, because it ultimately means that we can help drive your revenue with the results that you're able to achieve. It's also how someone can differentiate themselves from just, you know, a place that delivers talks and IPL and whatever. Micro needling. Right. Because like that essentially is what everybody else, all your competitors are offering as well too, right?
A
Absolutely. I think, you know, also as a provider, you're doing this because you want to see people better. And it can be frustrating when you are, you know, for me, coming from, you know, like, you know, the background of family practice, it's. It can be frustrating to see a person once a year and you have 15 minutes with them. We'll just use that as an example. How much of an impact am I really making and how much of a commitment do they even really have to what I'm offering them? Because they, they don't, you know, cool. They're engaged at the moment and then out the door they go, they get on with their busy life. They see me a year from now. I didn't jive with that. It didn't really make me feel, I didn't feel fulfilled in that realm. In terms of whole, like whole health. In terms of aesthetics, I think too, you know, my practitioner that I've hired feels the same way. She doesn't want to just put, you know, a little Botox in your forehead and say, okay, great. When she knows and sees the complete potential of what you really want is going to require this. Are you willing to do that? And that, you know, putting things in packages helps to explain. Like, hey, this isn't just about we want to make more money off of you. This is about, we want you to actually get the result that you came in here for. And there's a misunderstanding here. Like you can't feel like a million bucks going to your doctor for 15 minutes every year. Okay. Without some accountability, without some kind of follow up, et cetera. Same with the aesthetic goals that a lot of people have. You're not really going to get what you're actually needing or wanting with what you think that you need. Because we're the experts in this and we know through experience it's going to require more than what you're just asking for. So let me explain that to you. Right. So yeah, it just kind of works hand in hand.
B
Absolutely. And I think it's interesting because especially as owners hire more team members, like you've expanded Your team, since you started as well, too, they tend to oftentimes think, like, I'm going to leave it to them to ultimately decide on, on the fly, with the patient in front of them, like, what they're going to recommend. Okay. Now, there's still an element, of course, of expertise. And, you know, you have a unique human in front of you. But I think there is, like, even when you look at your programs, yes, you have. On the functional medicine side, you have certain programs, and yes, you might adapt and personalize them or tweak them a little bit, but there's certain protocols you probably find that you're using over and over again to help folks get. Who are struggling with certain things. Right. Like, that you are putting together. And it's first in aesthetics. It's what we're trying to do as well, too. There's certain protocols that the more experienced you get as a provider, you discover, like, this works. This is like, we can get more consistent, reliable results. We can get, you know, more impactful results as well by deciding ahead of time what those things are going to be, as opposed to deciding on the fly. If you.
A
Right, yes. And I think you've used this example before, and I've really glummed onto it. How you go to a restaurant and they give you a menu, and they're not creating my dinner right in front of me, like, oh, okay, well, we'll add a side of this. I actually get really overwhelmed. Even places like Cheesecake Factory, when there's just so many options, like, I get really. Or if. If there's a place that just says, create your own, I really do get overwhelmed. Another one is like, you know, some of the ice cream shops where you can do this and that and this and that, I'm like, just tell me what's amazing. Tell me what you recommend. And I often do that, most of the time with waiters. I'm like, yeah, what's your favorite? What's the most popular? And so.
B
Totally. Yeah.
A
And of course, we can. We can tweak things. I mean, not every package, not every health package that I offer is exactly the same, but we have that foundation of what we offer. And then they may need more microneedling and the aesthetic side, you know, so we may say you need this, or let's say, you know, you might need three more vials of this than the last person. But the basics, the foundation is there, which helps everybody feel more safe and secure and more predictable outcomes. When somebody is saying, hey, I recommend her for my gut problems, I recommend her for my fit. You know, like, it's just good to know that their friend is probably going to get the same ish thing. We're just going to refine it for that specific person 100%.
B
Right. Like, it's still going to be like Sculptra might be one item in the package and then it may be that it's four to eight vials is you get to decide on the back end how many vials the person the human in front of you needs. Right. But it's still the like radiant you package right to the patient. They're deciding on that one thing that might be a combination of sculpture, microneedling, RF and what have you. So it helps with what you're talking about. And when you are talking about being overwhelmed, that's the decision fatigue that all of your patients are coming to you to help circumvent. Because we all have cognitive overload happening to us especially, you know, when many of the listeners are serving the same like, group of folks. The 30 to 60 year old woman who is at a very busy point in her life. I mean, you have three kiddos, right?
A
Right.
B
Three teenagers.
A
Yes, yes. Life gets bananas. I think that also it relieves the practitioner too, because you already know how you can serve them. I'm not seeing a patient and thinking, oh my gosh, I'm frantic. Like, I don't know how I'm gonna help heal their anxiety and their gut health and their sleep. Ah, what am I gonna do? No, I already know the foundation of what I'm gonna do do. Now it's going to vary. You know, certain people need different supplements, they need different lifestyle changes, they have different challenges. Same for, you know, my, my nurse injector, she's not freaking out, thinking, I have no idea how I'm going to help these five patients that are coming in today. Well, she knows what she's going to offer them and she knows that she can make minor tweaks. So it takes some of the pressure and the confusion off of the provider as well, because you already know kind of which drawers you're pulling out and saying, okay, this drawer is going to be most appropriate for you. What all do we need that's in that specific drawer? Do we need to add more or less? But it feels compartmentalized and more organized and then everybody feels more secure and safe in the process and more trusting. I think it just adds more trust and it does allow the provider to come across as much more knowledgeable and professional because they feel confident in what they're offering. It's not like, well, we could try this. What do you think? What do you could try this. What do you think? You know? No, you need to come from a confident space. As the provider saying, this is what I think is going to serve you. This is what I recommend.
B
100%. 100%. One of the things I teach on that you already naturally had, at least on the functional medicine side of things, was like creating a real unique process and framework. Like, I'm huge in, like, my goal with everybody is that you become like the powerhouse expert for what it is that you do, especially in your local market. And for people like you, it's even beyond that. Right. It's like online, beyond your local market. You have like three pillars to your approach. And that's what you're talking about as well, too. It's like you have three main pillars, especially on the functional medicine side, because there's a lot of different things that impact somebody who comes to you who's, you know, chronically fatigued or isn't sleeping and all of those variables too. And that helps you have a lens that is like less sporadic and haphazard that you are taking your patients through as well too.
A
Yes, absolutely. Yeah. I have three pillars on the functional medicine side that I take people through. So it's more systematic and it doesn't feel so overwhelming for the patient either. I've learned that just over time, to throw everything at someone at one time feels really, really crazy. And when you think about on the aesthetic side, it's just also not as beneficial to throw everything. Like, most of the time we need to create, well, for lack of a better term, a little injury, a little inflammation. Allow that to heal, then build on it a few weeks later. Next month we need to do another micro needling or we need to do other, you know, sculptra. We need to layer these things on. If we were to do everything all at one time, it doesn't have the same effect. So explaining that to patients like, this is a process. You know, this is a six month to a year process on your skin. This is a 4 to 12 month process on your physical health. You know, it gives everybody at ease. It gives them a plan of like, cool, I don't have to feel overwhelmed. You're in control practitioner. You know what you're doing. And it helps keep, I think it helps results in general because we, our bodies need sort of a calm approach to things. We don't need to throw everything at the body, whether it's external or internal, all at one time anyway. And so it really does give it more guidance, more of a journey, more of a map that everyone feels like they are in the know of what going from A to B looks like. And then everybody feels more safe in that.
B
I love that. So when you what you've started working with us? Actually earlier this year. Earlier, last year. Oh my gosh, it's 2025. Hello. It's 2025 when we're recording this. Yeah. And so what if you were to share with the listener, like, what is one, maybe strategy framework or one component of MSA that you feel like has had the biggest impact on you as the owner, entrepreneur, what have you?
A
I can't really limit it to one thing, but I will say two things. Let's say two.
B
You can say a few things.
A
Okay.
B
Yeah.
A
So for one thing, the organization of the back end modules are really helpful, especially when you're busy as a busy entrepreneur, to be able to, anytime you have a chance, go in. Things are really well organized on the back end program. So. And what I love too is that you offer. Yes. That you offer access to our staff as well. Because much like children don't always like to listen to their parents, if they hear it from somebody else they'll listen to. So it's kind of nice to have that both and where I can express where I want changes in the business. But also my staff has access to videos. If I say, hey, I want you to watch this video, then it takes some of the pressure off of me instructing, kind of, you know, regurgitating what I've learned from you. They can learn it straight away. So that's really helpful. The modules are really helpful in breaking it down so that it's piecemeal. If you're ready to launch a, let's say you're having an event, there's a module for that. So when you're ready for it, you can pop in and kind of get guidance on, oh, okay, I'm ready for that. Today I want to learn my two week out how I can really be prepared for an event, let's say. So that part, the backend modules are really helpful and well organized in a way that my brain can handle it when I'm ready for it. The other side of MSA that I've really enjoyed is the connection the group calls because for me, it's just helpful to know that, you know, being an entrepreneur, being a business owner can be lonely. Not in terms of like, you're not talking to People all day. Because we are. It's lonely internally, I think, in your mind of like, oh, my gosh, is anybody else experiencing this with staff with, you know, fear, scarcity around money, let's say, or fear around taking a next big leap or buying a building versus leasing a building? I mean, there's just so many different aspects that you don't know about until you're in it. And then you're wondering, does anybody else feel this way? Does anybody else experience this? And the CEO calls have been really helpful and supportive because you realize, oh, it normalizes the struggle. And when you have normalization in a struggle, you're like, oh, cool, this isn't weird. I can talk about it. And we can, you know, powwow on, oh, well, this worked for me with this scenario. This worked for me with this mindset around that. Same thing I think I brought up to you at the beginning of 2025. Hey, I'm just not feeling super inspired around goals yet. This first week in January, I was expecting to feel this, like, eureka, it's the new year. Let's have all of these great plans. And I was just kind of getting over family being in town and the holidays. And lo and behold, there were multiple people in the group that were like, oh, I feel the same way. And I'm like, okay, cool. It'll pass. It'll be fine. So it's just little things like that that help you feel less alone in the journey, more empowered in the journey, more creative and collaborative in the journey, which can be hard, especially when you're in a community, a local community, where you may not necessarily feel comfortable or connected to share some of your vulnerabilities. Because at the end of the day, some of these people, you don't trust them fully or they can be your competition locally. Right. So it's just helpful to have an online community where you feel safe to be really honest with the struggle and therefore have more of that confidence to take the next step with that community.
B
I love that, like, the secret to success is support. And like, I know we've talked about on CEO calls before, but, like, that nervous system regulation as well, too, like, being able to manage the inevitable discomfort that it takes to actually, you know, hit whatever next level it is. Because no matter where you're at right now, for all of us, no matter what level of success you're at. Hendrix calls it the upper limit problem in the big leap. Like, it takes being able to manage your emotions. And it's why inside of msa, the first Module is actually a mindset module. It's why like I invite like clients like Krista to come to the calls and to share open and honestly about what you're like struggling with. Because moving right to, to talk about a strategy when you are struggling with, you know, something emotionally, like it just doesn't work, you know, like you have to be able to process that. So I'm, I'm so glad you brought that up because it's not something I actually talk about as much because it's not as sexy as saying like, oh, I can help you 3x your revenue or what have you. Right. Those are like the sexier hooks when ultimately like you're able to go after like I know you have and maybe you can share some big goals when it comes to even beyond your in practice patient base and growing that as well too. Things that you want to do online and virtual, more virtual things you want to do as well too. And those things can't be accomplished if you cannot work through any of the discomfort or drama that your mind inevitably that our human minds will always end up giving to us.
A
Yeah, it really is interesting when you think about something that you want or you see somebody else doing something that you want to be, do or have and all of a sudden you feel overwhelmed and I can't do it. And you, I like how you say the drama in your own mind because it really is just in your own mind. Like we create these barriers in our own minds and I think and it keeps us there. And I was sharing with you before we started recording how I recently read a book called you Squared and they opened the book with a fly at a windowsill banging against this clear glass, but it's going to die on that windowsill. And you know, unbeknownst to the fly, because they have not been able to open their aperture enough, you could turn around and there's a wide open door out into a field where they could live and reproduce and eat and live their best fly life. But they'll die trying to go the way that, the only way that they think that they know actually out. And it's a dead end. Much like you said the glass ceiling. Right. But you're banging against the glass and you'll never grow, you'll never get out to that big expansion by going that route. And I think when we have community, when you have a mentor, it helps you turn around and see, oh, that's just my own mind limiting my thoughts, my beliefs about what's possible for me. But there's a wide open door there. And it's just amazing how the human mind does that. And you know, it's scary to go beyond what you're comfortable with, what the norm is, what you know, beyond something in a realm that you don't understand or know or feel completely confident in. But having people who have gone a little step before you, even if they're like literally one level above you, you trust it a little bit more. You know, you're like, oh, I can turn around, there's a door. And you trust it a little bit more because you see somebody. In fact, I think it's helpful to be in a collaborative group with people that aren't light years ahead of you. I think it's helpful to be with people that are just a little bit both and right. It's good to see the big goal, but it's also amazingly supportive to have people in the same room as you that are just a little bit ahead of you because that you can manage right away. Right, like, okay, cool, let me step into that next level. And that's what the community has. There's some people that are way above and there's some people that are just a few steps above. And I think it's important to have both because it gives your mind, it gives your sense, your ego, let's say a little bit more comfort of like, okay, cool, I can make this next step.
B
Absolutely. Oh my gosh, I love that. And I have to get that book. You squared, you squared.
A
It's great. It's short and sweet and powerful. Those are the best kind. We all have time for the short and sweet, powerful books. Right?
B
I love it. So thank you for coming on and sharing your story. What are some of your big plans for 2025? I know you have some really big goals. Maybe you can share that with the listeners just to. Because I want want it, want them to hear about it and then also let them know where they can connect with you, learn more about you and what you do as well too.
A
Yeah, 2025, some bigger goals. Beyond the brick and mortar, of course, there's always growth that we want to do in our local community and outreach and all of that. For me, as a personal brand, my goals this year are to create a little bit more of a back end DIY modules, much like what you have. That's inspiring. And really I see the support then from, you know, being a consumer, the support behind having just, you know, ability to kind of learn as I go in, including the in person visit. So to really build out some powerful programs online to increase my ability to reach people and be, you know, a help to people in their health. Because we complicate health. The principles are not hard and yet much like business, the principles are not hard of health. But we overwhelm ourselves because it just so much coming at us. And so to create something like that, that really helps and Inspires. Another big 2025 goal for my husband and I is to collaborate in both of our industries. He is a pilot and has been for the past 25 years. And so we are collaborating and going to create a program that really helps to serve specifically pilots in their health and virtually helping them to really stay on top of health as they're going through the career of time changes and eating on the run and not getting to be physically active as they maybe want to be like ways that they can really increase their health during their career span. So that's some of my personal side. If you want to connect with me, it's pretty easy. Live-Health that's alive with an E E L I V E-Health.com is our website and that shares a lot about what we do in person, what we can do virtually as well with peptides, with hormone replacement, with guidance on health and then of course in person that includes aesthetics. And then if you want to just chat with me on the personal side, I am on Instagram pretty actively. Kristaelza, my first and last name on Instagram is my handle.
B
Amazing. We will make sure to link all of those places up in the show notes so that you can connect with Krista and check her out as well. Thank you so much for coming on and sharing your story.
A

Podcast Summary: Med Spa CEO – "Packaging Success: A New Model for Healthcare Providers" with Christa Elza
Release Date: March 12, 2025
Host: Heather Terveen
Guest: Christa Elza
In the episode titled "Packaging Success: A New Model for Healthcare Providers," Heather Terveen welcomes Christa Elza, a family practice nurse practitioner and founder of Elive Health, to discuss innovative approaches in integrating functional medicine with aesthetics. This conversation delves into how packaging services can enhance patient outcomes, differentiate med spas in a competitive market, and increase business profitability without sacrificing personal well-being.
Christa Elza shares her journey from primary care to functional medicine, emphasizing her commitment to addressing the root causes of health issues.
"[00:40] A: ...functional medicine, which is really the study of root cause, cause of why we experience symptoms..."
Christa founded Elive Health in Texas to provide a holistic practice that not only focuses on health span—ensuring patients feel their best decades into the future—but also integrates aesthetic services to help patients look as good as they feel. This dual focus stems from her observation that those seeking to improve their health often desire aesthetic enhancements as well.
Christa elaborates on her functional medicine practices, primarily catering to women aged 30-60, but also serving men who are increasingly seeking comprehensive health solutions.
"[03:18] A: ...personalized approach to their own health issues with extensive lab work, all of that really helps us pinpoint what they personally need to get back on track."
"[06:03] A: ...solving the problem. I'm not just going on guidelines... it's a different mindset."
She utilizes various diagnostic tests—blood, stool, saliva, urine—to uncover underlying health drivers, enabling personalized treatment plans. Christa emphasizes preventative care, aiming to extend patients' health span by addressing issues before they escalate into chronic conditions.
Recognizing that health and appearance are interconnected, Christa integrated aesthetic services into her practice to provide a more comprehensive wellness experience.
"[01:39] A: ...there was a missing link there. And so from the functional medicine standpoint, I Thought, let's add onto that."
This integration ensures that patients not only feel healthier but also achieve their desired aesthetic goals, thus enhancing overall satisfaction and loyalty.
A significant portion of the discussion centers around packaging services to offer comprehensive, result-driven solutions for patients, moving beyond ad-hoc treatments.
"[17:33] A: ...putting things in packages helps to explain... this is about we want you to actually get the result that you came in here for."
By bundling services into packages, Christa ensures that patients receive a structured and accountable treatment plan. This approach contrasts with traditional models where patients might receive one-off treatments without follow-up, leading to suboptimal outcomes.
Implementing packaged services offers multiple advantages:
Enhanced Patient Accountability and Follow-Up: Continuous engagement ensures patients adhere to their treatment plans, leading to better health and aesthetic results.
"[00:00] A: ...without some accountability, without some kind of follow up..."
Differentiation in the Market: Offering comprehensive packages sets Elive Health apart from typical med spas that provide isolated services.
"[15:47] A: ...I didn't want to be categorized as just another med spa in our town."
Streamlined Operations for Practitioners: Having predefined packages reduces decision fatigue for providers, allowing them to deliver consistent and reliable results efficiently.
"[20:22] B: ...this helps keep some of the pressure and the confusion off of the provider as well..."
Christa discusses her collaboration with MedSpa Advantage (MSA) and how it has impacted her business operations and growth.
"[25:51] A: ...the organization of the back end modules are really helpful..."
"[25:56] B: ...the secret to success is support..."
Key Components of MSA That Benefited Christa:
Back-End Modules: Organized resources that she can access as needed, allowing flexibility amidst her busy schedule.
Staff Training Access: Empowering her team with direct access to training materials ensures consistent implementation of strategies without overburdening her.
Group Calls and Community Support: Regular interaction with peers offers emotional support, normalization of challenges, and collaborative problem-solving.
"[29:19] B: ...the secret to success is support...."
"[22:47] A: ...it just adds more trust and it does allow the provider to come across as much more knowledgeable and professional..."
Christa highlights the importance of having a structured process and the right mindset to manage both business growth and personal well-being.
"[23:46] A: ...I've learned that just over time, to throw everything at someone at one time feels really, really crazy."
"[33:42] B: ...handling upper limit problems and nervous system regulation..."
She emphasizes:
Systematic Approaches: Implementing step-by-step plans avoids overwhelming patients and practitioners alike.
Mindset Modules: Addressing the psychological aspects of business growth ensures sustainable progress without burnout.
Looking ahead to 2025, Christa outlines ambitious plans to expand her practice and personal brand.
"[34:21] A: ...create a little bit more of a back end DIY modules, much like what you have..."
"[36:28] B: ...check her out as well."
Key Goals for 2025:
Online Program Expansion: Developing DIY modules to broaden her reach and provide accessible health guidance.
Collaborative Initiatives: Partnering with her husband, a pilot, to create specialized health programs for aviation professionals, addressing unique challenges like irregular schedules and lifestyle stresses.
Enhanced Community Outreach: Continuing to grow her local presence while leveraging online platforms to serve a wider audience.
