This guy, he's manipulating people. He either charms them because he needs them to do something, or he stalks them because he's going to kill them.

I don't think he's aroused by the women. I think he's aroused by the kill.

I open the door and she is on the landing, covered in blood and blue in the face.
Dr. Michelle Ward (0:26)
Under the shimmering lights of Hollywood in the 2000s, Michael Gargiulo stalked his feet. Female neighbors watching and waiting for the perfect time to strike. He stabbed two women to death and tried to kill a third in acts of unspeakable brutality.
Forensic Expert (0:41)
She was stabbed and I mean butchered almost 50 times and her throat was cut.

The attack on her was so vicious, so callous, that it almost like was like a personal thing.
