News and pop culture of the day for those trying to stay sane and work towards a better south. Brand & campaign strategist, Dot, and attorney and former local candidate, Adrienne, along with a spectrum of grassroots activists guests talk headlines and trend lines that are impacting the future of southern politics and culture.

Dot reads a letter she wrote her neighbors at the start of the Trump government shut down. As someone who's spent equal time outside of Washington as she has in, it's a reflection on the folks she knows at the heart of this grand, and administratively violent civil war we're in: the public and those who serve them. One part epistle, one part rant, she's recording her thoughts so that one day they'll be accessible to her grandkids or their kids, because these are "interesting times" as the saying goes. Women's voices are all too often lost to history, especially mothers, so while it's just a drop in the ocean compared to the mega media debating the news, these are the simple thoughts of a tired, concerned, and country-loving mom who just hopes we survive.THE QUIETING OF AMERICAN HOPESubscribe to MHNP on Substack

It's Women's History Month and that's still a thing for us! We're kicking off Season 2 of MHNP despite all we're juggling and talking with incredible women who have made it happen at the local level. Maritza Zarmeno and Zuraya Hadley served up a few truth bombs about what it's really like to run, the hidden costs of kickstarting a campaign, and they get real about some very unexpected moments from their time on the campaign trail. This is no time for shrinking violets and between the two of them and Adrienne's own run in Arkansas, anyone curious about running (esp Moms) will enjoy this primer on jumping into politics with both feet!ABOUT ZURAYA TAPIA ALFARO HADLEY (Arlington School Board)ABOUT MARITZIA ZARMENO (Mount Vernon & Latino Dems Founder)VIRGINIA LATINO CAUCUSDEMOCRATIC LATINO ORGANIZATION OF VIRGINIAHISPANICH HERITAGE IN VIRGINIA

We're tired, fat, broke, wearing the same pants all week, exhausted and survived the first Christmas of the Trump administration. And so with it, comes their decades old debate over which date is the appropriate day to put your tree up, are Halloween trees banned at Hobby Lobby, and somehow we made it through the holidays. It's time for more predictions, resentments, and airing of grievances. This ones sluggish, unhinged, and a bit all over the place but we run down our favorite Facebook comment fights about worst gifts, and whether we should be bragging about how well we're surviving the Trump dumpster fire. WARNING: The sound quality sucks sometimes, sorry! We're tired! Get over it!

After two and a half months of non-stop surprises, news and instability,k we're wiped. But we know there's more to come, and as our own party fatigue sets in, we thought sitting down with leaving MAGA founder Rich Logis, might help us find a little sanity and hope. Seven years into his MAGA journey Rich Logis began to have second thoughts about what he had devoted years to supporting. A husband, dad, business owner, and someone who was tired of both parties built the Leaving MAGA community. The first part of our conversation focuses on the Hows and WHys that pull folks in, with Part II turning more toward the What Nows and how political orgazing has to evolve if we are to win. Why don't facts seem to matter to some? Why is information not enough to win? These questions keep so many parents and partners up at night so we went to an expert on the business of beliefs; Denver Riggleman, former Congressional Rep, J6 Committee consultant, Husband, Father, Veteran & anti-M*ga maverick. We talk growing up in a religious household, the relationship of faith and falling in line, and find a few moments of levity as parents without a party.JOIN US FOR OUR FIRST MHNP VIRTUAL EVENT!MAR 4: AMA w/Denver RigglemanNational Sons Day Listening & Learning SessionABOUT HIS WORKREADS: THE BREACH BIGFOOT: IT'S COMPLICATEDDEBUNKED, Joseph FriedRENEGADE, Adam KinzingerWATCH:RIG'S FAREWELL FLOOR SPEECH PENN & TELLER: BULLISH*T

Quick Dot rant. A lot's been happening. That's one way to put it. The audio is a little weird on this one but Dot's gotta get to bed. After witnessing the most awkward Oval Office presser in history, she wanted to get few thoughts on the sacred F word off her chest and obsess for a bit on why words matter.LINKS:Breaking Down How Much Money Musk's Starlink Received From USAID.The Contentious History Between Elon Musk And Former FAA Administrator Mike WhitakerConstitution of the United States

Our in-house attorney weighs in on where we are, why we still need lawyers (more than ever) and drops some solid case law precedent. What do politics and culture really look like through the lens of a parent? A news podcast for parents, and by parents, would mean outlooks that are more colorful and complicated than what our current partisan landscape might portray. Meet two moms and college best friends on a mission to reveal what American home-life and the great kitchen table debate is really like, and why democracy needs a new and bigger on-ramp for modern motherhood.
