Despite the fact that no one is harmed by someone trying to find a place to rest, there are laws that criminalize camping or sleep outside; meanwhile millions of people a year are harmed by lack of access to medical care, yet the state of our health care system is not considered a violent crime. Compared to a person with housing, a person who is unhouse less likely to engage in robberies, assault, and homicides and is in fact more likely to be the victim of such harm, especially if they are a child, adolescent, or woman. Those who are unhouse are more exposed to violence Compared 😳 to those who are housed, and sweeps increase the risk of assault. Many people have share that they experienced violence and insecurity directly related to camp eviction.
