California Governor Gavin Newsom says he's become a target of President Trump's Justice Department associate editor Zach Jewell explains.
Zach Jewell
According to the governor, FBI agents have recently questioned his family, friends and former employees in an attempt to intimidate Newsom because he may run for president.
Gavin Newsom
Donald Trump isn't just coming after me because of my mean tweets. He's coming after me because I'm considering running for president because he hates that I've consistently called him out over and over again for his lies and deceit. Donald Trump is simply the most corrupt president in American history.
Zach Jewell
The Daily Wire has learned that while there are two ongoing investigations related to Newsom, neither targets him directly. One involves Newsom's wife and her taxes. The other began under former President Joe Biden and involves Newsom's chief of staff.

The US Military has taken out a top drug trafficker in Venezuela. Immigration reporter Jenny Terre has the latest.
Jenny Terre
Late last week, the US Struck the compound of the kingpin known as Nino Guerrero, who led the train to Aragua. Gang Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the attack was conducted in full collaboration with Venezuelan security forces. The strike took place in a mining rich region of Venezuela's Bolivar State, where criminal groups have run illegal gold mines for decades. Over the past week, Venezuelan security forces have ramped up pressure on those illegal gold mines to scare away workers. Experts say that the US Strike against Guerrero could be part of a larger effort to secure the region and prepare for foreign investment in Venezuela's domestic mining industry.

An animal welfare ballot proposal in Oregon has gained momentum despite being trashed as extreme by many elected Democrats. The proposal is IP28, also known as the Peace act, which would criminalize hunting and fishing and reclassify inseminating farm animals as sexual assault. The ballot measure has been ridiculed even by Democrats such as Oregon State Congresswoman Val Hoyle.
Val Hoyle
It would make it illegal to kill any animal except in self defense. Any animal which kills our commercial fishing industry. It no lie makes it a felony sex crime to artificially inseminate a cow. That's insane. I mean, there's no other word for it.
Narrator/Reporter
If activists are able to gather enough signatures, which some analysts say seems likely, the proposal will appear on the ballot for voters in November.

Eight Americans were killed in a military plane crash outside Los Angeles yesterday. Daily Wire producer and veteran Justice Spieler has more.
Zach Jewell
All the people on board the B52 bomber were killed on impact, with immediate assessments saying that the crash was unsurvivable. The flight took off from Edwards Air Base and crew included service members as well as government employees and contractors. The names have not yet been released. Here's Colonel James Hayes discussing the tragedy at a news conference Monday.
Colonel James Hayes
Today, Edwards Air Force Base experienced a horrible tragedy and we lost eight great Americans. And right now our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those that lost their loved ones. It was a B52 that was on initial takeoff supporting the radar modernization program, which is a test. It was a local test sortie. It took off and immediately after takeoff crashed. At this point, we don't have any indication as to what the cause was of this.

fox corporation will acquire roku for $22 billion. Daily wire assistant editor Andy Valdez shares the details.
Andy Valdez
Fox is touting the move as a quote defining moment for the company, saying the strategy will allow the news giant to bypass the fierce competition in the streaming space by pairing up with the most popular smart TV device. The merger means that the combined company is now the third largest player in US TV and represents another major shift toward entertainment consolidation.
John Bickley
Also in entertainment news, the DOJ signed off on the controversial Paramount skydance acquisition of Warner Bros this week, finding it unlikely to harm consumers. Entertainment reporter Amanda Harding has more.
Amanda Harding
The deal still requires approval from regulators in the EU and the UK, but the DoJ approval was seen as the biggest hurdle. Not only is it another major consolidation of media power, but it's also seen as a real threat to left wing control over the media. If the deal goes through, Bari Weiss may oversee all news direction at both CBS and cnn. Weiss has ruffled feathers on the left by requiring that news coverage should, quote, hold both political parties to equal scrutiny.

Daily Wire lifestyle reporter Lauren Baer has the details.
Lauren Baer
The MLB has issued a warning to three San Francisco Giants pitchers for writing Bible verses on their pride hats, which the players were instructed to wear during their game against the Cubs last Friday. Multiple players wrote Genesis 9:12:16 on the hat, referring to a verse that says the rainbow is a symbol of God's promise to humanity to not send a flood again. MLB Chief Communications officer Pat Courtney told the Athletic that the Bible verses violate MLB's rule against adding handwritten messages on caps and jerseys. The Giants team also issued an apology, saying that the players actions did not uphold their standards of inclusion and welcoming for all. Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw also wrote the same Bible verse on his pride hat last year, but did not get a warning from the mlb.

The New York Times has launched a review of the work of one of its columnists, Nicholas Kristof. Daily Wire contributor Tim Pierce has more.
Tim Pierce
The Times put Christof's columns under review after Semaphore revealed that he wrote favorably about donors to his failed Oregon gubernatorial bid. Kristof left the times in 2021 to run for Oregon governor, but returned to the newspaper the next year after he was deemed ineligible under Oregon's three year residency requirement. At the time, the Times had said Christoph would either refrain from writing about his donors or disclose those relationships as necessary Kristof wrote about multiple of his donors without proper disclosure, including positive coverage of Bill gates, who donated $100 to Kristof's short lived campaign.

After completing quarantine, Dr. Peter Stafford and his family were reunited in the US today. Stafford and his family moved to the Congo in 2019 to work with a Christian humanitarian mission. While they were there, Stafford contracted the virus and he was flown to Germany for treatment. His wife, Rebecca, who's also a physician, did not contract the virus, nor did any of their four children. In a press statement, Stafford expressed gratitude to God for preserving his life and he thanked all who prayed for him. The doctor also said that he's praying for those in the Congo who are still facing this devastating epidemic.

And Japanese soccer fans are drawing attention at the World cup not for chaos, but for cleaning up stadiums after matches. In a charming tradition that dates back to the late 80s, Japanese soccer fans ended their match against the Netherlands on Sunday by waving their blue Japan Pride trash bags and then using them to tidy up the stadium, leaving it as clean as they found it. Here's one fan speaking to CBS News.
Japanese Soccer Fan
There's like respect for everything, respect for the players, supporters and also for the stadium. We are kind of only the TV here, so we don't want to make the mess and then leave it.
