The death toll rises following a fiery plane crash in Louisville. Houston police openly recruit from the NYPD and Zoran Mamdani's victory party gets hacked. I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire executive editor John BICKLEY. It's Wednesday, November 5th, and this is Evening Wire.
B
At least nine people are dead after a UPS plane crashed near an airport in Louisville, Kentucky on Tuesday evening. Daily Wire reporter Zach Jewell has the latest.
C
UPS issued a statement confirming that the crash occurred at approximately 5:20pm adding that three crew members were on board. One of the plane's engines appeared to catch fire as it was taking off before it crashed into multiple businesses near the airport. Mayor Craig Greenberg told Fox News this morning that at least nine people have died and warned that the number could rise. Sixteen families are still waiting to hear news of missing loved ones.
D
I was at the Family Reunification center and there were more families of more individuals than that that they were still looking for and seeking information on. So I would expect that the amount of fatalities may rise throughout the day. I was simply there to provide support to all those grieving families that are searching for answers to let them know we have first responders, the coroners and others that are on the scene working to get them as much information as soon as possible.
C
Videos posted on social media showed a massive explosion after the crash, with plumes of smoke rising into the air. Officials issued a shelter in place order for people within a five mile radius of the airport and since the plane was on a long trip to Hawaii, it was fully fueled. Secondary explosions went off after the plane went down and crashed into a petroleum recycling center and an auto parts shop.

In Tuesday's elections, Maine voters approved a referendum for a red flag law. The law will allow certain family members and law enforcement to ask a court to issue an extreme risk protection order. The order would block a person from being able to purchase a firearm for a year so long as the applicant can prove that the person is a significant danger to themselves or others. Maine residents also voted down a referendum that would have put in place a voter ID requirement for state and local elections. The measure included some reforms as well, such as no automatic renewal for absentee voting and banning requests for absentee ballots by phone or by family members.
B
Voters in Texas approved 17 constitutional amendments that covered issues from parental rights to property taxes. Included in the slate of amendments are bans on a state capital gains tax and a state inheritance tax, a requirement on judges to deny bail for certain felonies and greater protections for parental rights.

Speaking of Texas, a major police officers union there is now openly recruiting NYPD officers after the election of Democratic Socialist Zoran Mamdani as their city's mayor. Daily Wire immigration reporter Jenny Terre reports.
E
The Houston Police Officers Union is aiming to recruit NYPD officers disaffected by Tuesday's election of Mamdani. The union released an ad on Tuesday asking officers flat out nypd, are you disgusted with the election of Zoran Mamdani? Mamdani has pledged to replace police officers with mental health professionals to respond to certain crisis situations across the Big Apple. He previously called to defund the police, but has attempted to backtrack on that during his mayoral campaign. He's also pledged to champion the sanctuary policy that's hamstrung local police and prevented them from handing illegal immigrant criminals over to ice. Houston Police union President Doug Griffith told Fox, we believe socialism is going to be bad for law enforcement in New York City. There is opportunity here in Houston for officers to come make a great life for themselves.

Meanwhile in North Carolina, the Democrat mayor of Charlotte won re election in a landslide. That's despite all the outrage over the violent stabbing of Irina Zarutska on the city's transit Daily Wire Culture reporter and Charlotte native Megan Basham has more Democrat.
F
VI LS won more than 70% of the vote over Republican challenger Terry Donovan in yet another election, solidifying the Democrats control over Charlotte going back some 16 years. While a Democrat winning the most powerful seat in the city isn't shocking, the fact that the massive controversy over the horrific murder of Zarutska doesn't appear to have hurt Lyles at all has raised some eyebrows. Video of the fatal stabbing of Zarutska, a 23 year old Ukrainian refugee, by Decarlos Brown Jr. A 34 year old with more than a dozen arrests, went viral and sparked renewed debate over public safety in the city. Despite all that debate, though, Lyles cruised to an easy victory.

An outbreak of the foodborne illness listeria has left 25 hospitalized and six dead, including the death of one unborn baby. Health officials have traced the outbreak to contaminated pre cooked pasta meals sold at major retailers including Trader Joe's, Walmart, Kroger and others. The products, manufactured by Nate's Fine Foods, have been voluntarily recalled nationwide. Although affected products have been pulled from store shelves. The FDA urges customers to check their refrigerators and freezers for any of the recalled items.

A month after calling on citizens to take up arms against drug traffickers if the federal government didn't take more action to stop them, the mayor of Aruapan, Mexico was assassinated. Mayor Carlos Alberto Manzo was shot to death over the weekend in front of thousands of people during a candlelighting celebration on the eve of the Day of the Dead. A police officer and two city employees, including a councilman, were also wounded. As Border Report notes, the assassination has sparked protests and prompted Mexican news outlets to question whether the government or drug cartels control the streets in large swaths of Mexico.

The majority of Tennesseans approve of President Trump's decision to send the National Guard to crime ridden Memphis. Daily Wire assistant editor Andy Valdez has more.
G
The Beacon center of Tennessee released a new poll on Wednesday that found that 63% of Tennessee voters approved of Trump's deployment of the guard. Just 33% said they disapproved. The majority of Republicans supported the deployment, while most Democrats opposed it. In recent weeks, the Trump administration has sent federal law enforcement personnel to Memphis, where they have made over 1700 arrests, including more than 126 gang members. They've arrested individuals wanted on charges related to murder, drugs, firearms and sex offenses.
B
A billionaire Trump donor, Jeff yass, is giving $100 million to the Anti woke University of Austin Daily Wire senior editor Virginia Kruta has more.
H
The school says it's the biggest donation it's received to date and it's part of an effort to raise $300 million so the college can operate without government subsidies or student tuition. Yass says he's donating the money because he believes in separating education from government intrusion and he wants to help to reduce the financial stress on parents and students. The college, which is currently unaccredited, was founded by journalist Bari Weiss, who left the New York Times over its increasingly narrow left wing politics and who is now the editor in chief of CBS News.

The French government is suspending access to e commerce giant Sheehan after discovering childlike sex dolls and weapons for sale on the platform. The government is moving to temporarily suspend Shein's website as French prosecutors investigate the Singapore based company over these items. Shein stated that the childlike sex dolls were sold by third party retailers on the platform rather than the brand itself. The move comes within hours of Shein opening its first brick and mortar location in the heart of Paris. Customers and protesters alike gathered for the event.

A man in France reportedly screamed a Lau Akbar before driving into a crowd of pedestrians. Here with more is Daily Wire reporter Amanda Prester Giacomo.

At least 10 people were injured, some critically. The incident took place Wednesday on an island off of France's Atlantic coast. The attacker was known for prior offenses, including theft, substance abuse and erratic behavior. He attempted to ignite his vehicle before being subdued by police. Authorities have not confirmed a terror motive. In response to the attack, the deputy of France's national assembly said, quote, there is an urgent need to identify, root out, track down and combat this Islamist hydra in each of its networks, its funding channels, its rhetoric and its political supporters.

The teammates of a professional women's soccer player are calling her racist and transphobic after she wrote an op ed saying only women should play in the women's league. Daily Wire reporter Lyndon Blake has the story.
J
Angel City Football Club player Elizabeth Eddy pinned an op ed for the New York Post last week calling for stricter gender guidelines in the national women's soccer league. Eddie said that women should be the only players competing in the NWSL in order to grow and protect the league. She suggested gene testing, which other sports leagues have implemented, as one way to ensure the women playing women's soccer are actually women. But now the captains of Angel City Football Club, Sarah Gordon and Angelina Anderson, are branding Eddie as transphobic and racist and and they said the entire Angel City FC is disgusted with Eddie's op ed. Here are the two At a press.
A
Conference, the article calls for genetic testing.
E
On certain players and it has a photo of an African player as a headline and that's very harmful. And as a mixed woman with a Belack family, I'm devastated by the undertones of this article.
I
This feels like another really big challenge that we have to go through as a team on top of an already really challenging year. And it's definitely not the note that we as a group want to end on. And so I just want everyone to know that we're doing our best in the locker room to preserve respect and belonging on this team.
B
And amid all the cheering for Zoran Mamdani's victory in New York, a hacker threw a small but hilarious wrench into the mayor elect's celebrations. If you listen carefully there, you can hear rally goers booing. Just as the self described socialist was about to begin his victory speech, the main campaign screen was suddenly hijacked with an image that read, Trump is your president. No one yet knows who's behind it.
