Rescues continue in Texas with more rain expected. A shipping crew is forced overboard after an attack from Houthi terrorists. And Trump puts BRICS countries on notice. I'm Georgia Howe. John is on vacation this week. It's Monday, July 7th, and this is Evening Wire. Devastation continues in Central Texas after flash floods killed at least 89 people over the holiday weekend. Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has the latest.
Tim Pierce
The hardest hit area, Kerr county, accounts for 75 deaths with 27 of them being children. Among the tragedies, camp mystic lost 27 girls and counselors. Heavy rains are expected to continue through the night tonight with up to 10 inches forecasted in some regions. Rescue efforts are ongoing but hampered by the weather. Texas Governor Greg Abbott urged caution while grieving families and volunteers continue searching for missing loved ones amid the wreckage.
Greg Abbott
The most important thing you can do is to protect your lives. We're taking a step back. For all of us up here, that's our number one job. We put public safety first and we'll worry about the physical damage second.
Tim Pierce
Meanwhile, North Carolina was hit with historic flooding overnight. Chapel Hill and Durham were hit hardest with rivers cresting near record levels. No deaths have been reported, but thousands remain without power.

A young Coast Guard rescue swimmer is being hailed as an American hero after rescuing 165 people from flooding at Camp Mystic. In his first ever mission. Stranded kids and counselors at the camp, many barefoot and in pajamas, looked to 26 year old Scott Ruskin for help and comfort.
Scott Ruskin
The real heroes I think were too the kids on the ground. Like those guys are heroic and you know, they were dealing with some of the worst times of their lives and they were staying strong. And that help inspired me to kind of get in there and help them out.
Georgia Howe
Despite praise from Homeland Security, Ruskin insists he's just a guy doing his job, embodying the Coast Guard's spirit of service and selfless courage. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is in Washington today and is slated to meet with President Donald Trump. Daily Wire deputy managing editor Tim Rice has more.
Tim Rice
The meeting comes two weeks after American airstrikes helped Israel cripple Iran's nuclear program, reportedly setting the country back by two years. But both leaders are expected to tout a new era in the U.S. israeli military partnership. But major challenges remain. Trump is expected to press Netanyahu to finalize a Gaza ceasefire and secure the release of 50 hostages, including two Americans. As foreign policy expert Victoria Coates told Fox News, the pressure needs to be on Hamas to take this deal.
Victoria Coates
Special envoy Witkoff has given them yet another framework for a 60 day ceasefire for the return of hostages, for ending this war in Gaza. And Hamas is the one that refused.

Houthi rebels in Yemen forced a crew to abandon ship in the first Red Sea attack since President Trump's truce deal in May. The Liberian flagged vessel took on water near Yemen's Hodeida port, forcing the crew to abandon ship. In response, Israel launched airstrikes overnight targeting Houthi ports and military sites using 20 jets and over 50 munitions. The Houthis retaliated with ballistic missiles and drones aimed at Tel Aviv, Ashdod and Eilat. As Victoria Coats told Fox, warding off Houthi attacks needs to be a team effort.
Victoria Coates
That's something actually our European allies should help us a great deal with because that's their vital shipping lane. And so that's where I think we need to now pay some attention, make sure they can't disrupt that commercial activity. And you know, that's something Israel can really do a lot on.

A gunman in South Texas ambushed Border Patrol agents as they arrived to work early this morning. Federal agents and police returned fire and killed the active shooter. One McAllen police officer was struck in the exchange. The event is still under investigation. The incident follows a similar attack on an ICE detention facility in the Dallas Fort Worth area Friday night in which another police officer was injured. As President Trump's tariff deadline nears, he's putting BRICS associated countries on notice. Daily Wire senior editor Cabot Phillips has the details.
Cabot Phillips
President Trump said Monday that any countries aligned with BRICS will face an additional 10% tariff. With no exception, BRICS is an economic bloc of nations attempting to counter the power of the US Dollar. It includes Brazil, Russia, China, Iran and South Africa. Over the weekend, the group condemned American strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and took an indirect swipe at new US Tariffs. However, they have not yet responded directly to the latest threat of additional tariffs. President Trump has previously cautioned the group against challenging the American dollar.

Elon Musk announced the formulation of a new political party over the weekend. Dubbed the America Party, Musk had previously threatened to create a third party if President Trump's one big beautiful bill became law, which it did after a ceremony on Friday. Musk described the party platform on X as being pro gun, pro pro bitcoin, with a particular aim at reducing government spending. Musk also stated the party's focus for the next 12 months will be on midterm House and Senate races and left the door open to a future presidential candidate. A leaked memo reveals former President Joe Biden's advisers pushed him to hold an early presidential debate, Daily Wire reporter Mairead Elordi reports.
Mairead Elordi
The memo said an early debate with President Donald Trump would reach the widest audience possible. The memo was addressed to Biden from his senior advisers. It capitalized and bolded the word you throughout to emphasize references to Biden. In addition, the earlier you are able to debate, the better, so that the American people can see you standing next to Trump and showing the strength of your leadership compared to Trump's weakness and chaos, the memo says. It was dated about two months before the debate was held. Biden dropped out of the race less than a month after the debate due to his disastrous performance.

California governor Gavin Newsom will spend two days meeting voters in South Carolina. The visit has many speculating about a presidential run in 2028. The state held the first Democratic primary in 2024. South Carolina, New Hampshire and Nevada are competing to start the Democratic primary season in 2028. Newsom has also tried to rebrand as a moderate. In his new podcast, he said it's unfair for trans identifying men to compete in women's sports. Authorities may have a new lead in the location of fugitive Travis Decker following a possible sighting in Idaho, according to U.S. marshals. A family camping in Sawtooth National Forest said they saw a man matching Decker's description. This is the second reported sighting of Decker in Idaho, though marshals say the first reported sighting was a false alarm. Decker is wanted for allegedly killing his three daughters in Washington State. He's been on the run for more than a month. Decker served in the army and is a trained survivalist. A protest in Mexico City turned violent on Friday night as hundreds of residents gathered to oppose the gentrification of the city. Protesters carried signs including Go Home Gringo and Speak Spanish. Rioters later smashed windows, sprayed graffiti and looted high end businesses, throwing rocks with the message get out of Mexico. With the rise of remote work, Westerners and particularly Americans have flocked to Mexico City. Protesters blamed this influx for the rising price of rent. The state of New York has reported at least 66 UFO sightings in the first half of 2025. Last year, the National UFO Reporting center reported 65 UFO sightings for the first half of 2024, making this year's report one higher. The incidents were logged from January to late June, and the reports indicate that the objects vary by shape. Evans Evans Mills, a smaller town located near a military base reported multiple sightings which caused witnesses to speculate about potential defense activity. A lot of the incidents also include video evidence, and several reports show objects experiencing sharp right angle turns and zigzag flight patterns. And last but certainly not least, the Daily Wire is adding Gen Z commentator Isabel Brown to their talent roster. Brown announced on her show that she'll be hosting a new series debuting this fall on Daily Wire. Plus, the D.C. based show will feature daily commentary on culture, politics and pop.
Isabel Brown
Trends coming to you later this year from my studio here in Washington, D.C. every day you can expect larger than life guests, deeper questions, more topics and so much more.
Georgia Howe
The move is part of the Daily Wire's expansion in Washington and adds a fresh voice to its lineup. Brown told Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro today that she's excited for the new journey.
Isabel Brown
We are so excited to bring that forward to the Daily Wire with my new show, the Isabel Brown Show. Not just reacting to the insanity of the world as we know it and just how far the left has gone by having a defensive position against that, but even more importantly now going on offense to fight to build culture where we can reinstate that goodness of Western civilization and pursuit of objective truth. Again.

Central Texas Flash Floods: The episode opens with a grim update on the ongoing flash floods in Central Texas, which have tragically resulted in at least 89 fatalities over the holiday weekend. The hardest-hit area, Kerr County, has suffered 75 deaths, including 27 children. Among the most harrowing incidents is the loss at Camp Mystic, where 27 girls and their counselors were killed.
Governor Greg Abbott's Response: Texas Governor Greg Abbott emphasizes the prioritization of public safety amidst the disaster:
"The most important thing you can do is to protect your lives. We're taking a step back. For all of us up here, that's our number one job. We put public safety first and we'll worry about the physical damage second." — Greg Abbott [00:55]
North Carolina's Historic Flooding: Parallel to Texas, North Carolina has experienced historic flooding, particularly impacting Chapel Hill and Durham. Although no fatalities have been reported in North Carolina, thousands remain without power, compounding the region's challenges.
Scott Ruskin's Bravery: A young Coast Guard rescue swimmer, Scott Ruskin, has been hailed as a hero for rescuing 165 individuals from the submerged Camp Mystic. Remarkably, this was Ruskin's first-ever mission.
"The real heroes I think were the kids on the ground. Like those guys are heroic and you know, they were dealing with some of the worst times of their lives and they were staying strong. And that helped inspired me to kind of get in there and help them out." — Scott Ruskin [01:41]
Homeland Security Praise: Despite accolades from Homeland Security, Ruskin humbly credits the resilience of the children and counselors, embodying the Coast Guard's ethos of service and courage.
Israel and U.S. Military Partnership: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with President Donald Trump in Washington. This meeting comes on the heels of American airstrikes that reportedly set back Iran's nuclear program by two years.
Agenda and Challenges: The leaders are expected to highlight a strengthened U.S.-Israeli military alliance. However, significant challenges remain, including negotiations for a Gaza ceasefire and the release of 50 hostages, including two Americans.
"Special envoy Witkoff has given them yet another framework for a 60-day ceasefire for the return of hostages, for ending this war in Gaza. And Hamas is the one that refused." — Victoria Coates [02:38]
Netanyahu’s Focus: Netanyahu is also seeking ongoing military aid and support for Israel's post-war strategies, underscoring the complexities of maintaining regional stability.
Houthi Attack in Yemen: In the first Red Sea attack since President Trump's truce deal in May, Houthi rebels forced a Liberian-flagged vessel to abandon ship near Yemen's Hodeida port. In retaliation, Israel launched extensive airstrikes targeting Houthi ports and military installations.

This incident follows a similar attack on an ICE detention facility in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where another officer was injured. Authorities continue to investigate these disturbing acts of violence.
Tariff Threats: President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to countries aligned with BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), threatening an additional 10% tariff on their goods. This move aims to counter the economic bloc's efforts to reduce reliance on the U.S. dollar.
"President Trump said Monday that any countries aligned with BRICS will face an additional 10% tariff. With no exception, BRICS is an economic bloc of nations attempting to counter the power of the US Dollar." — Cabot Phillips [04:22]
BRICS' Response: While BRICS has condemned American strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities and indirectly criticized the new tariffs, they have not yet responded directly to Trump's latest threat.
Elon Musk Launches America Party: Elon Musk has announced the formation of a new political party, the America Party, following the passage of President Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill." The party's platform includes pro-gun policies, support for Bitcoin, and a commitment to reducing government spending. Musk plans to focus on the upcoming midterm House and Senate races, with potential ambitions for a future presidential run.
Early Debate Memo for Joe Biden: A leaked memo reveals that Joe Biden's advisers urged him to hold an early presidential debate with Trump to showcase his leadership strengths against Trump's perceived weaknesses.
"In addition, the earlier you are able to debate, the better, so that the American people can see you standing next to Trump and showing the strength of your leadership compared to Trump's weakness and chaos." — Mairead Elordi [05:37]
Biden ultimately dropped out of the race less than a month after a disastrous debate performance.
Gavin Newsom's Potential Presidential Run: California Governor Gavin Newsom is actively engaging with voters in South Carolina, fueling speculation about a possible presidential bid in 2028. Newsom is attempting to rebrand himself as a moderate and has voiced controversial opinions, such as opposing trans-identifying men in women's sports.
Authorities are closing in on fugitive Travis Decker, wanted for the alleged murder of his three daughters in Washington State. Recent sightings in Idaho have provided new leads after families reported seeing a man matching Decker's description near the Sawtooth National Forest. Decker, a former army soldier and trained survivalist, has been on the run for over a month.
A protest against gentrification in Mexico City escalated into violence on Friday night, with hundreds of residents clashing with authorities. Demonstrators carried signs like "Go Home Gringo" and "Speak Spanish," accusing the influx of Westerners, particularly Americans, of driving up rent prices. The unrest led to property damage, including smashed windows, graffiti, and looting of high-end businesses.
The New York State authorities have reported at least 66 UFO sightings in the first half of 2025, slightly surpassing last year's numbers. Witnesses have described various shapes and behaviors, including sharp right-angle turns and zigzag flight patterns. Multiple sightings in Evans Mills, near a military base, have fueled speculation about potential defense-related activities. Many incidents include video evidence, adding credibility to the reports.
The Daily Wire is expanding its roster by adding Gen Z commentator Isabel Brown. Brown announced the debut of her new series set to launch in the fall, focusing on daily commentary on culture, politics, and pop. She emphasized a proactive approach to building Western civilization and pursuing objective truth.
