President Trump extends the ceasefire and the blockade I'm Daily Wire Executive editor John Bickley with Georgia Howe. It's Tuesday, April 21st. This is Evening Wire.
Georgia Howe
President Trump announced today he's extending the ceasefire to give the fractured Iranian regime time to come up with a unified proposal. In a post on Truth Social, the president said Pakistani negotiators have asked the US to hold back on its attack until Iranian leaders can come up with a proposal, and he's agreed to do so. Trump announced, quote, I have therefore directed our military to continue the blockade and in all other respects remain ready and able and will therefore extend the cease fire until such time as their proposal is submitted and discussions are concluded one way or the other.

President Trump is also calling on the Iranian regime to release eight women facing execution as a show of goodwill. In a Truth Social post today, he told Iranian leaders that he would, quote, greatly appreciate the release of these women. Please do them no harm, he said, adding that it would be a great start to our negotiations. The women were reportedly arrested during anti regime protests. Human rights groups say Tehran has held sham trials and carried out hundreds of executions after detaining more than 50,000 protesters.

The war Department has released video of American troops boarding a sanctioned Iranian oil tanker in the Indian Ocean. The vessel left Sri Lanka Saturday bound for Singapore. Pentagon officials say the boarding was carried out without incident. In a statement, the department declared, quote, international waters are not a refuge for sanctioned vessels. We will continue to deny illicit actors freedom of maneuver in the maritime domain.

Democrat Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut is facing harsh criticism for a post on X, with some even calling him a traitor. Daily Wire assistant editor Andy Valdez has more.
Andy Valdez
Murphy reposted a false report that 26 Iranian ships successfully bypassed the US blockades and added the comment, quote, awesome. Many online interpreted the post as Murphy praising the Iranians. But Murphy, for his part, says that he was just being sarcastic. The report was later proven false, as new reports indicate that while some ships did pass the US Blockade. They had been given permission to do so. Those ships were civilian vessels and did not originate from Iranian ports.

A DHS cash crisis is closer than you might think, with reports saying there might just be one paycheck left for ICE and home security officers. Daily Wire immigration reporter Jenny Terre has the story.
Jenny Terre
Secretary Mark Wayne Mullen warned that the Department of Homeland Security will run out of emergency funds by May and said that Democrats must either agree to fund the department or explain why they want, quote, open borders. President Trump earlier approved emergency funds from the One Big Beautiful Bill act to pay Homeland Security personnel. More than two months into the DHS shutdown, that money is nearly gone. Appearing on Fox and Friends this morning,
Mark Wayne Mullen
Mullen said this My payroll through DHS is just over $1.6 billion every two weeks. So the money is going extremely fast. And once that happens, there is no emergency funds after that.
Jenny Terre
On top of this, roughly 2/3 of DHS employees are currently furloughed, meaning on temporary or unpaid leave. The Senate is expected to vote as early as this week on a budget blueprint for a reconciliation package to fund ICE and cb. However, Republicans and Democrats have yet to reach a final agreement on any long term funding solution.

During his confirmation hearing, the 56 year old former Fed governor Kevin Warsh faced questions about monetary policy, his personal finances and his relationship with the Trump administration. Warsh laid out the responsibility of the role in his opening statement.
Kevin Warsh
Monetary policymakers must act in the nation's interest, their decisions the product of rigor, deliberation and unclouded decision making.
Jordan Schroeder
In one particularly fiery moment, Senator Elizabeth Warren attempted to insinuate that Warsh's current investments are not in compliance with someone who is in this role.
Elizabeth Warren
You have $100 million in undisclosed assets and what I'm asking is, are any of those with this outfit that invests in companies affiliated with President Trump or his family, companies that have facilitated money laundering, Chinese controlled companies or financing vehicles set up by Jeffrey Epstein? It's a yes or no question, Senator.
Kevin Warsh
I've worked tirelessly with the ethics officials at the Office of Government and you have not undo an ethics agreement and have agreed, Senator, to sell all of my financial assets?
Jordan Schroeder
Warren was later corrected by her Republican colleague Thom Tillis. That wash is in fact in compliance. Horse gave a qualified defense of Fed independence, saying criticism from elected leaders does not and should not threaten it. He denied that Trump ever pressured him to commit to interest rate cuts, despite reports and Trump's own comments suggesting otherwise. Horsch also said he has no plans to fire presidents of the regional Federal Reserve banks.

The Camp of the Saints by French novelist Jean Raspail was removed from Amazon last Friday. Publisher Vauban Books said in a statement that Amazon provided no reason for the poll other than it violated their policy on, quote, offensive content. Amazon declined to clarify what specifically about the book was offensive and to whom. The publisher also speculated that Amazon's decision may have been prompted by a recent article in New York magazine which cited the book as an influence on right wing politicians like viktor Orban and J.D. vance. Following swift backlash online, Amazon relisted the book without a statement.

Virginians are heading to the polls today to vote on a new congressional map. Daily Wire political reporter Cameron Arkand has more.
Cameron Arkand
If the Democrat backed measure passes, it would add four more congressional seats to the map that favor the party until after the 2030 census, leaving only one solid Republican seat in the commonwealth. Liberal groups from around the country have poured millions into the race, which could become a referendum on the early governorship of Democrat Abigail Spanberger, who is elected in November. Opponents to the measure are banking on rural Republican and moderate turnout to shoot down the proposal that could determine who controls the House of Representatives.

Researchers say that a simple nasal spray could reverse the cognitive decline in chronic brain inflammation that comes with aging. According to a new study, scientists at Texas A and M saw significant results in mice after just two doses. The nasal spray carries extracellular vesicles, microscopic particles derived from neural stem cells that can carry therapeutic molecules. The study found that mice that underwent the treatment showed marked improvements in memory and cognitive function, with effects lasting for several months.
