Tulsi Gabbard resigns the mastermind behind the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme has been sentenced and President Trump may miss his son's wedding this weekend. I'm Georgia Howe. John Bickley is out today. It's Friday, May 22nd, and this is Evening Wire. Tulsi Gabbard has resigned as Director of National Intelligence. In her resignation letter, Gabbard also revealed that her husband, Abraham, has been diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer. She wrote, quote, at this time I must step away from public service to be by his side and fully support him through this battle. Gabbard's tenure at DNI has been marked by her efforts toward transparency and efficiency. Gabbard saved taxpayers an estimated $700 million per year by dismantling unnecessary programs within intelligence agencies, mainly related to DEI. Gabbard's final day as director will be June 30th. House Republican leaders delayed a vote yesterday on a resolution to restrict President Trump's war powers. Daily Wire contributor Tim Pierce has the latest.

A number of absences in the GOP would have risked a Democrat victory in the narrowly divided chamber. So instead, Speaker Mike Johnson and other top Republicans put the vote off until after the Memorial Day recess over heckling from Democratic members. Had Democrats won, the vote would have been seen as a rebuke of the president. Though the resolution is unlikely to have taken effect, Democrats and their allies lack the two thirds supermajorities in Congress that are required to overcome a presidential veto.

Kyle Busch, the two time NASCAR Cup Series champion and one of the most accomplished and beloved drivers in stock car racing history, has died at the age of 41. Earlier on Thursday, Busch's family revealed that he'd been hospitalized with a severe illness and would miss race weekend activities at Charlotte Motor Speedway while undergoing treatment. A month after having to withdraw from another race due to a sinus issue, the Daily Mail obtained 911 audio of a caller transporting Bush to the hospital from a training facility, with Busch reportedly experiencing shortness of breath, overheating and coughing up blood. The family has not disclosed the official cause of death. The racer, known to fans as Rowdy, was known for his aggressive driving style and being one of NASCAR's most fiery personalities. The future hall of Famer is survived by his wife, 11 year old son and 4 year old daughter. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says that US export bans have forced China to develop all the chips they need. According to Huang, the Chinese state owned tech giant Huawei is flourishing because American chip makers have been banned from competition in China. While some national security experts have worried that selling high level chips in China would allow Beijing to catch the United States in the AI race, Huang says that is already happening. The difference now, according to the Nvidia CEO, is that China is not reliant on the United States chip makers.

Don Jr. Plans to wed Bettina Anderson in a small ceremony on a private island in the Bahamas over the holiday weekend. Reportedly, the couple had considered a White House wedding, but opted instead for a more private celebration. The president said he will still try to go, but matters of national security may ultimately keep him in Washington Next month, the TSA will try out off site screening to reduce congestion and stress at the airport. The agency will test the new procedure at Boston Logan International Airport. Travelers will have the option of dropping off their bags and being screened at a TSA outpost in Framingham, Massachusetts before taking a shuttle roughly 25 miles to the airport. Once there, they will be dropped off behind the security checkpoint to make their flights. Rich Davy, CEO of Massachusetts Port Authority that oversees Logan, told the Wall Street Journal that while the airport's security lines are usually manageable, traffic often isn't. Officials hope that off site screening will alleviate long lines for drop off and pickup as air travel becomes increasingly popular.

More than a year before, an 18 year old shot up a San Diego mosque. Police had confiscated dozens of his family's firearms over concerns about the teen's behavior. Daily Wire reporter Zach Jewell has the details.

According to court documents, police said that the teen, quote, was involved in suspicious behavior, idolizing Nazis and mass shooters. His parents turned over 26 firearms to police. The father told the court that he had kept guns in a storage facility outside the house because of concerns about his son. He did not plan to return the firearms to his house, quote until my wife, my son's therapist and I believe it is safe to do so. It is still unclear whether any guns from the house were used in the shooting at the mosque in which three people were killed, not including the 18 year old shooter and his 17 year old accomplice.

Amy Bach, a key figure behind a $250 million fraud scheme in Minnesota, has been sentenced to 41 years in prison. Bach founded Ayn Rand Feeding Our Future, a group that was supposedly providing millions of meals to hungry children. In reality, though, Bach and her associates were using hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funds to enrich themselves and their friends. More than 60 individuals have been convicted in connection to the scheme, most of whom are Somali immigrants. Bak's trial also revealed multiple text messages and emails with Minnesota representative Ilhan Omar. Bak has said that Omar was instrumental in loosening laws that allowed the scheme to operate.

The ruling is the latest twist in a legal saga that began in 2011, when public prosecutors first filed charges against the jet maker and airline. Thursday's ruling is also a rare instance of corporations being held liable after a plane crash. The Paris court agreed with prosecutors that the companies, quote, had undeniably contributed to the crash through negligence. Airbus and Air France were each ordered to pay €225,000, or about $260,000, the maximum fine for corporate manslaughter in France. Both companies said they would appeal the decision.

The RNC is heading into their 2026 midterms flush with the most cash on hand it's ever had. After it raised 18.6 million last month, the RNC ended April with nearly $124 million. The GOP is using its massive war chest on election integrity efforts and to improve its ground operations, especially in competitive states. The effort is in part led by Vice President J.D. vance, who also serves as the RNC's finance chair. Vance is the first sitting vice president to hold that position. An illegal immigrant released into the United States under the Biden administration has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison after raping and impregnating a 12 year old girl in Missouri, the Daily Wire has learned. Colombian national Rayon Escobar Gornizo, who entered the United states illegally in 2023, was convicted with nude images of the young child on his phone and admitted to a detective that he had had sex with the minor. A DNA test later confirmed that the illegal had indeed fathered the child, with the victim reportedly terminating the pregnancy. Escobar Guarnizo was convicted on charges related to the sexual exploitation of a minor. DHS officials told the Daily Wire the Biden administration should have never allowed the man into the country and vowed to continue targeting criminal illegal aliens.

And President Trump is backing a renewed push to end the twice yearly clock change by making Daylight Savings Time permanent. A version of the Sunshine Protection act was included in the broader bill advanced Thursday by the House Energy and Commerce committee in a 48. One vote. Trump argued the switch wastes money and efforts for governments, cities and residents, especially when maintaining large public clocks, and said that permanent daylight Savings Time would give Americans, quote, a longer, brighter day. The proposal has bipartisan support in both chambers of Congress and would allow states that do not currently observe Daylight Savings time to keep their existing systems.
