Daily Wire Culture reporter Megan Basham is here now with more. So, Megan, quite a few shocking revelations from this diary. Can you walk us through some of the most disturbing sections?

[D]

Yeah. So Paul released portions of this diary as part of his investigation into Covid origins and Fauci's handling of the pandemic. And I would say that the most explosive revelation concerns the origins of the virus and evidence that Fauci knowingly lied to the public basically from day one. Georgia. So in a diary entry dated 1-26-20, Fauci wrote that evidence indicated that the earliest infection was not connected to Wuhan's market. Fauci's exact conclusion, and I'm quoting here, now we know the market was not the source. It was the amplifier. A few days later, he noted that during a conference call involving roughly a dozen scientists, only two were confident that the virus could have arisen naturally. Now that matters, because after that, Fauci made public statements arguing that the market itself was the likely point of origin. So in an April 2020 interview with Fox News, again, well, after those diary entries, he insisted that the pandemic was a, quote, direct result of wet markets. And he continued making that claim in congressional testimony and in his 2024 memoir. Yet Fauci denied before the House in a, in a hearing in 2024 that he deliberately misled the public. Now, that said, the diary doesn't prove that Fauci privately believed that Covid escaped from a laboratory. In that same January entry, he did write that he still believed the virus had jumped from an animal to a human somewhere. But it does suggest that he knew that many highly credentialed virologists were questioning that claim even as he and his boss, NIH head Francis Collins, were out framing that as a conspiracy theory.

And censoring anyone who disagreed. Now, I'm also seeing a lot of chatter online about how his DIA talked a lot about meeting famous people. Tell us about that.

[D]

Yeah, I would say arguably that's even more embarrassing, though of course less significant from an investigative standpoint. Essentially, entry after entry displays, I think, what we could call Fauci's rather unseemly interest in fame. So in March of 2020, just as we reached nearly 5,000 US deaths, he wrote about a, quote, unquote, very flattering front page Washington Post article, and he declared that quoting again, national and fame is explosive and really unimaginable. He added that it was not hyperbole to say that today I am the most famous and talked about person in the country and one of the most recognizable persons in the world. And then shortly after that, when cases were soaring past 30,000, he wrote, quote, press is going wild with me. He also discussed lobbying friends in the government to nominate him for various awards. Georgia. There should be a lot of egg on the face of legacy media here as well, because in these diary entries, Fauci discusses feeding questions about COVID policy to CNN anchor Jake Tapper. And he discusses having dinners with Tapper and his wife. He writes that Tapper clearly believes Trump is totally nuts. And even some other legacy outlets are starting to question Tapper's conduct. Here, as in CNBC's Squawk Box interview just this week with Dr. Scott Gottlieb.

The Tony Fauci I saw in those emails is not the Tony Fauci I knew over the years. I mean, he was a guy who is sober, careful about his public appearances and his statements was always very care, always very thoughtful. Did you figure out the obsession with mainstream media in defending him and, you know, Jake Tapper having, you know, multiple dinners and best friends and what did that come from?

So some tough questions CNN should have to answer about Tapper's journalistic ethics in this case.

So what happens next with these hearings?

You know, that's the million dollar question because as he was leaving office, President Biden issued a sweeping pardon of fau. But Paul believes that there may still be a way to pursue some accountability here.

Is it too vague to say I'm going to prosecute you for not prosecute you and pardon you for anything you did in the last 10 years? I think there's a possibility. The court says that's vague and not specific. We have two clear cut cases against him, lying to Congress, which is a felony, but also destroying public records.

So we will find out more when Fauci testifies tomorrow before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, which Paul now chairs.

Mayor Zoran Mamdani held a press conference Monday in which he announced what he called major progress on his plan to launch five government government subsidized grocery stores. Included in his announcement was the pricing plan, which has sparked immediate blowback.

Joining us now is Daily Wire reporter Breca Stoll. Breca, good to have you back on.

So for people who haven't been following this grocery store saga, what exactly is Mayor Momdani promising here?

[F]

So Mayor Mamdani promised yesterday that his grocery store prices are going to be 30% better than competitors. Now, these are competitors such as Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and other privately run grocery stores. And, John, we're getting a little bit more about these grocery stores every couple weeks. All five of them, one in each borough, will be completed by the end of Mumdani's term. And right now we know the first two locations. You know, one in East Harlem, the other one in the Bronx. And now we finally know the pricing. And these grocery stores are going to set their pricing on the first of the month, and they are supposedly going to stay that way for the entire month.

All right, so promising 30% lower than the standard store. So undercutting prices of private businesses.

Yes. And you know, this is something that he wants to do. He's wanting to do the same thing with government Run housing. He thinks the government can run it better. When he previously announced his government run grocery stores, he said he was reminded of the words of former president Ronald Reagan, where Ronald Reagan said the most terrifying words you could hear are, I'm from the government and I'm here to help. Help mum. Donnie argues the government can help and that expanded government is really going to benefit New Yorkers here. And with his government run grocery stores, you know, he's saying he's going to help parents. His exact words were, they are going to be able to count on a steady supply of apple slices so that they can, you know, use those for their toddlers to be able to keep toddler tantrums at bay.

Okay, well that's, I guess, one benefit here. How would these city owned grocery stores actually work?

[F]

So a third party will actually run the grocery stores. So the government, they own the lands in the East Harlem location. But for the other three locations that haven't been announced, they're seeking, you know, a donor to either give that land to the city or for the city to be able to lease it. And then once they secure the land, then a third party operator is going to run the government run grocery store. Merrimam, Donnie says it will not be run for a profit.

And subsidized obviously by the government to maintain that 30% lower price. Have we seen government run grocery stores in other cities? Has this actually worked before?

[F]

We actually saw them in Kansas and Florida and they ultimately didn't make it after they had to operate at continuous losses. Another place we've seen these are Venezuela. They were placed in more of a widespread scale there and they face spoiled food, constant shortages, bare shelves and widespread corruption.

Now an interview with the co chair of the National Democratic Socialists of America this week has gone viral for her laying out all the really extreme goals of the group. I wanted to play some of that.

Abolish the Senate.

Replace the presidency and Supreme Court as we now know them.

Abolish ice.

Abolish borders and give amnesty to anyone currently in the US illegally as a long term plan.

So how does Mamdani's grocery stores fit into this larger democratic socialist agenda?

So it goes back to him basically saying that an expanded government is what's going to help Americans. And he's seen that with the, you know, government running your grocery stores. But also he's touted a recent government parent babysitters. He plans to have the government to be able to sponsor a parent's night out because he believes, you know, everyone has the right to some leisure time. He's really working to, you know, embrace just the scale of, of government.

Now, obviously from the conservative side, there's been a lot of pushback from the start on these government run or subsidized grocery stores. But how are people in New York responding so far to Mamdani's proposals?

[F]

Well, from the people who voted for him, you're seeing a lot of they're thinking these promises are being kept. You know, the government grocery stores haven't been officially opened yet, but they're seeing, you know, slight progress. And then you've also seen positive reaction from him saying that he is going to be able to take over some of these housing concerns from some of these tenants and the city's gonna able to run these housing apartments if landlords aren't be able to do a good job. And so a lot of these things haven't really been put to the test like Momdani's, you know, free and fast buses. It's all the announcing of plans, the announcing of progress, but it hasn't actually been put into action yet.

Right. Easy to make promises and announce these kinds of things. Very hard to follow up and actually make them function properly. Breca, thank you so much for coming on.

The Trump administration is pushing ICE to target Haitian migrants after their temporary status in the US Expired on Monday.

Daily Wire immigration reporter Jenny Terre joins us now to discuss. So, Jenny, what is ICE being told now with TG with this new information? And is this going to lead to some major sweeps?

It's a great question. There's been a lengthy legal battle that the Trump administration pretty much won when it ended up at the Supreme Court last month. And the Trump administration is now allowed to terminate temporary protected status. The designation for Haiti has been long in place over a decade. The Trump administration has argued that this program, which is temporary protected status, is supposed to be temporary and that it was let on for too long to give these illegal migrants a way to essentially stay here under like an amnesty program. I'm talking to ICE sources about it and they say that they're definitely being told that if they have Haitians on their list to prioritize those cases now,

how will this work with the new rule change? Can they just ship these Haitians home immediately or is the process different because they had this prior arrangement?

[E]

Well, immigration is always complicated. So Trump hired dozens of new immigration judges and he tossed out about a hundred that were in place who tended to side more with the asylum applicants. And he's trying to reform that system. Now, again, they'll still have to go before these judges. They'll still have to get a formal deportation order before. Before ICE can actually remove them from the country.

Now, Jenny, you actually had an exclusive story that was an update on the Delaney Hall ICE Detention center hunger strike that took place earlier this year. Tell us what happened with that hunger strike and the characters at the center of it.

[E]

Right. So Martin Soto, he was leading that hunger strike in ICE's Delaney hall detention center in Newark earlier this year. Now, his wife, during that time was leading protests outside. She was claiming that he was essentially a martyr for the cause. Now, his wife, Gabrielle Soto, had said all this time that he had just been going out innocently to buy diapers for his baby when ICE scooped him up, which is not true, according to this arrest report that we obtained here at the Daily Wire, that he was arrested actually by local police in Kearney, New Jersey, for allegedly committing a domestic assault. Listen to what his wife had to say about her claims of his innocence.

They are just looking for any excuse to arrest anybody.

It's not even that.

It wasn't like they had a real reason.

Now, compare that to the arrest report which says that Martine Soto, quote, purposely caused bodily injury to an unnamed female victim, specifically by using his hands, both open and closed, to strike her in the face, causing minor scratches and cuts to her face and neck. He then allegedly placed a hand over her mouth so she could not scream for help. This is just a disturbing case, and we knew nothing about this while she was claiming. While the wife was claiming that her husband was completely innocent. She's actually also raised about $67,000 using his story on GoFundMe. And she continues to maintain, in her words, that he committed no harm. And this is very reminiscent of the Maryland man, Kilmar Abrego Garcia case, who was deported, brought back to the United States, and had some pretty gruesome human smuggling charges.
