of a blockbuster sporting event in front of the White House. Last night, President Trump made a huge announcement on the Iran deal. Joining us now to discuss all the negotiations and commotion in the capital is Daily Wire D.C. bureau Chief Tim Rice. Tim, great to have you on as always.

So we've had a lot of spectacle at the White House on the midst of this on and off again, Iran deal making. Trump was saying a deal was coming all weekend. Yesterday, though, got off to a rocky start with Israeli strikes on Hezbollah in Lebanon. But we eventually did have Trump's triumphant announcement. So walk us through what went down yesterday.

So there was a lot of speculation for several hours yesterday about if we'd see any real movement, and then we did. Now, the deal was not officially signed and sealed yesterday, but Pakistani negotiators did announce that all parties had formally agreed to the deal and that it would be signed on June 19th. President Trump posted a big announcement on media shortly after that news broke. I'll just read the full quote here. The deal with the Islamic Republic is now complete. I hereby authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz and simultaneously authorize the immediate removal of the United States naval blockade. Ships of the world, start your engines. Let the oil flow. So what appears to be a massive turn of events here and very welcome news to the world, particularly on the energy side. As we've covered extensively, the Strait being bottled up has put all kinds of strains on the oil industry and driven up prices here at home. Now, of course, this all hinges on if Iran actually follows through on its end of the bargain. Obviously, there's still a lot of doubt that this will get passed, not because of the president's dedication to it, but because the Iranians are not the most trustworthy bargaining partners. And as we've seen, of course, this would not be the first time we've gotten very close to a deal only to have it pulled back or unraveled or delayed or something like that.

Well, let's hope this deal holds up and the oil does start flowing. Now, before we let you go, we have to ask you as the D.C. bureau chief about this blockbuster UFC event at the White White House yesterday. A lot of people tuned in. Was this a black eye for Trump as the Democrats would frame it, or a big win for the president?

[Tim Rice]

It was absolutely a big win. I mean, this has been the most laughable thing. Look, obviously Democrats are going to oppose this I've said this before. It's just a problem with politics. Right. Sometimes when presidents do cool things, if you don't support that president, it's hard to admit, you know, I'll be the first one to admit, right. That it was, it was cool when Obama would play basketball with, like, LeBron James. Like, that was cool because LeBron James is cool. Basketball is fun. This is awesome. It's a great. It's a great spectacle. Anyone who thinks that it's not is just being a sour puss. It's the ufc. It's the most popular sport in the United States. It is a legal, legitimate, organized. Yeah, it's a spectacle, but, like, this is what people watch. It would be like if he invited the World cup team to come have, you know, a little scrimmage on the White House lawn. This is. It's very populist. It's very Trump. It's very Fourth of July. It's very America to 50. So it's been a really great kickoff to this summer of, you know, America to 50 celebrations. So absolutely a win. Don't listen to the haters.

The immigration debate that's dominated European politics for the last few years is once again spilling into the streets. Protests and counter protests that began in Northern Ireland have now spread to England, Scotland and even Italy.

Daily Wire Culture reporter Megan Basham is here now with the latest. So, Megan, last week we covered the horrifying attempted beheading in Northern Ireland. That, of course, led to several nights of rioting, including the burning down of government housing where some of the migrants had been placed. And now that unrest has extended to other parts of Europe. What's going on?

[Megan Basham]

Yeah, Georgia, this was really a case of protest versus protest. So, as you said, the immediate spark here was that appalling video that came out of Belfast. Authorities charged a Sudanese migrant with attempted murder after that attack blinded a local disabled man. But what's striking is that many people on the ground insist that this is not about just that singular crime. So I spoke with Northern Ireland pastor and commentator Jamie Bambrick, and he told me that frustration has been building for years over mass migration and the crime and the violence that come with it, as well as over the preferential treatment that these new migrants receive from the government in terms of free housing and financial help that citizens don't qualify for. So Bambrick told me that Prime Minister Keir Starmer and local leaders there on the ground have been unwilling to hear that frustration.

Most of the local politicians have called for calm and for space for the police to do their investigation. And whilst there's obviously a degree of truth in that, lashing out with violence is not a good thing. What they are really asking for and what that's being interpreted as is we're not going to do anything about this and we would like you to just accept it. And sadly, that is not a viable solution.

Something else that Bambrik stressed is that protests in Northern Ireland are fundamentally different from what we've seen in the rest of Europe and the rest of the uk. He says these arson attacks were meant to send a very targeted message and not to the politicians, because the Northern Irish no longer believe that their politicians are listening. He said that these riots were intended to serve as a warning to landlords and to the migrants who are considering coming to Northern Ireland.

These are not political protests because I think the people here are very aware that the political process does not work. The violence is towards landlords primarily, that is landlords who are Receiving government money to house people from across the world. And we don't know why they're here in their properties. And they're receiving a lot higher rents than they would get from the native population because the government is subsidizing them.

[Megan Basham]

Now, Pastor Bambrick stressed that he has members of his church who are law abiding immigrants. They pay taxes, they love Ireland, they're working to assimilate. But he warns that part of the problem is when the political process breaks down, you get indiscriminate mob justice. And in this case, it's particularly dangerous because these particular quote unquote protesters are more akin to a paramilitary group because they are still organized from the time of the troubles.

Now what do we know about the other protests that have erupted outside of Belfast, places like Scotland?

[Megan Basham]

Yeah, so those are more traditional protests, but what makes them combustible is that Britain now has two rival street movements that are forming around this issue of immigration. So on one side are the anti immigration demonstration, arguing that the government has lost control of migration and asylum policy. And then on the other side are left wing organizations like antifa and pro Palestine activists who argue that the west must open its borders as a sort of reparations for colonialism. So in several UK cities this weekend, police had to physically separate these two groups. In fact, you can see a little bit of that here in the seaside town of Brighton. But there were similar demonstrations in Liverpool, Glasgow and more where we saw images of what the anti immigration side said was police brutality and impartial justice. They said that officers were aggressively putting down their protesters while ignoring law breaking from the left wing protesters. Protests even erupted in Rome where tens of thousands of protesters reportedly took to the streets. So we're increasingly seeing these competing visions of Europe's future expressed not at the ballot box, but in these public demonstrations.

Five years. Wow. So, to Elon Musk, in this massive ipo, record breaking historic, every description you can use for it. What happened on Friday and what's been the fallout so far?

[Cabot Phillips]

Yeah, for years now, investors have been just waiting for Space X, that's Elon Musk's AI and rocket company, to go public. The expectation was that it would break records on Wall street, and it did. The company went public Friday morning and by the time markets closed, its share price was up to $161, giving it a market cap of $2 trillion.

[John Bickley]

And it instantly turned thousands of SpaceX employees into millionaires overnight. One man who worked at the company as a welder earning a $58,000 salary, posted an emotional video on social media saying that he was now a millionaire because of his stock options. We saw similar stories of cafeteria employees, factory line workers and other blue collar workers turning their stock options into massive wealth. Get this, an estimated 400 employees earned upwards of $100 million. And Musk himself benefited the most. His net worth skyrocketed by hundreds of billions of dollars on Friday as the stock went higher and higher. It's not an exaggeration to say that Wall street has never seen anything like this. Musk, now, as you said, history's first trillionaire.

Well, so a lot of SpaceX employees and former SpaceX employees very, very happy about this. But not everyone's happy. We've been looking at the reaction to this pretty mixed in many ways. A lot of negative reaction in D.C. in particular. Tell us about that.

[Cabot Phillips]

Yeah, and frankly, it's not that surprising. There have been folks on the left and right who, you know, take issue with a single man amassing more money than the GDP of most countries on planet Earth. To that point, he's now worth more than the GDP of all but 21 nations on this planet. And look, from a PR perspective, the timing here is not great. Americans are being hammered by inflation. They're broadly pessimistic about their economic future. So the idea of one man making this much money is naturally going to be a tough pill for a lot of people to swallow. Now, politically speaking, we saw a number of prominent Democrats use this story as a rallying cry against income inequality, with some arguing that extreme wealth is downright unethical. Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, for example, posted on social media that we must ensure that Elon Musk is, quote, the last trillionaire. Bernie Sanders said it was a call to action. Elizabeth Warren renewed her calls for a so called wealth tax. AOC said his wealth was, quote, unearned and exploitative. Adam Schiff says it's only possible in a corrupt system. You get the idea. But there are still plenty of people defending Musk or at least defending the core tenets of capitalism and wealth creation in general.

Yeah, many see this as the classic American, you know, success story. Tell us about that side of the response.

[Cabot Phillips]

So defenders have been quick to remind folks that Musk does not take actually have a trillion dollars sitting in a Bank account. Over 99% of his net worth is tied up in stocks. Stocks which only have value because millions of Americans have purchased their own shares of those exact same stocks. To that point, they argue that Musk has not only created hundreds of thousands of jobs for Americans, but also wealth in the market for tens of millions more who have benefited from his company's growth. Defenders also point to the actual success of his companies, saying, look, he's doing stuff no one else is doing and he's being compensated for it. Defenders of Musk say a 50% wealth tax like the one Bernie Sanders and other Democrats have proposed might sound nice, but would essentially force him to sell off billions of dollars in stock holdings, which would then tank the share price for the tens of millions of average Americans who own those shares. As one tech founder put it on X, Elon Musk could liquidate his entire net worth and if spread among every person on earth, it would amount to about $100 a head. So he's got, no doubt got a lot of money, but not exactly life changing money if you were to spread the wealth.
