The Democrats requested a second hearing, arguing Patel has failed to assure them that he would keep the bureau independent from political influence. Republicans say Patel has already provided extensive testimony and records. It's unlikely Democrats will be able to block Patel's confirmation, but they're hoping to convince some Republican senators before the final vote.

The U.S. coast Guard is ramping up its efforts to stop a surge of migrants into Florida. Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has more.

The Coast Guard picked up a Chinese national floating on a paddleboard with his suitcase this week. The man was 25 miles off the coast of the Bahamas, which has become a jumping off point for illegal immigrants. Last week, authorities arrested two suspected smugglers and 26 Chinese migrants after a boat from the Bahamas landed in Coral Gables. Florida Coast Guard assets including cutters, aircraft and boats are being deployed to the waters near Florida and the Bahamas to deter these illegal crossings. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says Florida is shouldering the burden of Biden era immigration failures and will act to protect local communities.

Big changes are coming if you're a TEMU or SHEIN shopper. Americans could see higher prices on their orders as the Trump administration moves to curb tariff free imports on orders less than $800. The policy change is expected to hit SHEIN harder than temu, since TEMU has already shifted more of its shipping to bulk order and US Warehouses. Analysts estimate the volume of these low cost shipments could drop by 60%. The crackdown on tariff free imports could boost US manufacturing and retail jobs by making domestic products more competitive and encouraging companies to produce more goods locally.

John Bickley opens the discussion on the Trump administration's decisive actions against USAID amid mounting scrutiny. This reduction involves placing most employees on administrative leave or terminating their positions entirely. Concurrently, hundreds of aid contracts are being canceled.

In the wake of a tragic mid-air collision between a passenger jet and a Blackhawk helicopter, the Trump administration is advocating for a comprehensive overhaul of the nation’s air traffic control system.

The task force will address long-standing issues such as air traffic controller shortages and obsolete technology to prevent future tragedies.
Georgia Howe updates listeners on the stalled confirmation of Kash Patel for FBI Director. Initially scheduled for a vote on Thursday morning, Senate Democrats have postponed the confirmation to the following week. The delay stems from Democrats' concerns that Patel may not preserve the FBI's independence from political pressures.

"The Democrats requested a second hearing, arguing Patel has failed to assure them that he would keep the bureau independent from political influence." — Georgia Howe [01:51]
Republicans argue that Patel has already provided extensive testimony and documentation supporting his independence. Despite the delay, it remains unlikely that Democrats will ultimately block Patel's confirmation, though they aim to sway some Republican senators before the final vote.
