Buy here : https://procidaritualproject.bandcamp.com/album/misteri “Procida Ritual Project is not the romantic and visionary idea of an island anchored to its roots, but a convinced path aimed at giving new life to the sounds of ritual celebrations of the Procidan community.” Pier Paolo Polcari, composer, producer and co-founder of the iconic Neapolitan band Almamegretta, returns with a new musical work “Procida Ritual Project.” The project, with a strongly anthropological and Mediterranean feel, conceived together with Leonardo Scotto di Monaco, an artist and scholar of local traditions, is developed within the “Procida Capital of Culture 2022” program and was created with the aim of enhancing tradition, protecting the past by projecting it into the future, preserving identities, making generations dialogue, with the aim of saving the enormous intangible cultural heritage of the island of Procida from extinction. The key to the project is a database of “field-recordings” in the core of which we find the celebrated rites of Settimana Santa and the Processione dei Misteri: a veritable mine of identity made up of symbols that advance on the traces of centuries-old echoes. The ancient matrices, which will remain recognizable, give rise to evocative paths of authorial reworking in an electronic key, with the contribution of important musicians such as Daniele Ubik (sax, percussion, hang and voices) and Marzouk Mejri (darbouka, Tunisian flute, voices and percussion). Among the most evocative sources of inspiration is the “Menerio,” a large peasant bonfire that the people of the island used to light, ideally greeting the beginning of spring: a purification rite that in the past was introduced by invocations and drum rolls and that Procida Ritual Project brings back to life. The first single “Ritual” resonates with devotional songs dedicated to the Madonna delle Grazie, which the faithful chant in July: a kind of dialectal rosary with ancestral sounds and tones. And again, cues for the construction of this project come from the dialect novena that, at the end of October, on the long eve of the celebration of the dead, the faithful are wont to sing in a collective rite created to exorcise death. RITUAL PROJECT PROCIDA also becomes the name of a live band, which aims to continue experimenting and researching, live and in the recording studio, from now on, through the publication curated by Salgari Records in digital format and on vinyl, in a limited edition of three hundred copies. The graphics are by Federico Spini, who reworked the valuable photographic material by Roberta Riccio, in which the Turchini are portrayed during the Venerdì Santo procession. Drawing on sounds ranging from the Balearic grooves celebrated by his Balearic London party and label (alongside Ariane V, Gaucho and Sarahtonin) to the progressive and breakbeat sounds of his youth, ‘80s synth pop and boogie and the peak-time house he is known for, the album features collaborations with the likes of Rui Da Silva—who also mixed and mastered the album—and rising talents like Carly Foxx, Daisybelle, Michelle Nova and Coco Cole. Featuring Gomori’s first songwriting efforts, the mood of the album is a mix of the euphoric and the melancholic, and draws on the theme of our elastic experience and struggles with time and its impact on our relationships. Out November 01st 2024. Discos Nutabe is an electronic music label from Medellín, Colombia. Inaugurated back at the end of 2013, releasing arounds that evoke the universality of House within electronic music, and the very fact of creating it from this city for the city. Championing the fact that those of us who are enthusiasts of this style can also be part of the creation and origin of musical production and its diffusion by promoting community, movement and self-management.Since 2014, this label embarked on the mission of releasing House from Medellín, with a kind of “Medellin trilogy” lead by label members and collaborators from throughout the years such as DCM, Dijon Traithlon and Vandel. “Orígenes” was our first release by DCM, where the artist took inspiration from the fundamental elements of North American House with nuances of New York Deep and Chicago Jack. Such influences are present in Daniel’s artistic intention with “Swing”, “6 AM” and “Esperaándote”. At the time there was a movement in the city with the adoption of vinyl by many local DJs in the city, thus being able to play their icons on vinyl. For 2015, one of our most seasoned members, Dijon Triathlon, with a well-forged past in Latin American diffusion with the netlabel “Series Media”, with more of a focus on IDM, released three tracks in the record “Pandemia”. Titled thus, for the tropical place in the world that Colombia occupies, as it is also a pejorative term for what does not work in everyday life compared to the first world. With strong influences from German House of the 90s, Microhouse and Minimal Funk, this inheritance and appropriation is recounted in “Chikungunya”, “Leishmaniasis” and “Chagas”, the tracks contained in this EP. Ending this so-called trilogy, in 2016 Vandel presented “Inundación”, an EP of a solemn and profound character with tracks that represent his most intimate vision of Deep House. Nuances and touches that evoke the transmuted sound of labels such as Mirau Musik, Sistrum Rec or Soul People Music, to name some of the projects that carry the most introspective House. “La realidad es utópica”, “Dulce Martirio” and “Dos Escenas” comprise this EP. There has been no linearity in terms of styles, everything has been an intimate declaration of the sound the artist was pushing for. After this trio of releases there was a break, until a new conversation started brewing with another city in 2017. Bogotá, which welcomed us through Enrique León and the ELO label. The following year would present “Visitante”, an amalgam between House and Techno, Techno downgraded, a mechanical amalgam of Acid, Electro and a concrete response to what was previously done in Discos Nutabe with “Devolución” and “Generación”, and with “Trans” as the bridge of organic sounds between the origin of the label and the visitor. Buy here : https://palestinechildofwarmapfundraiser.bandcamp.com/album/palestine-child-of-war-map-fundraiser This Palestine Child of War MAP fundraiser is a collective of underground, fringe and outsider artists and musicians, who have come together to create an eclectic compilation album to raise funds for Palestinian and Lebanese children of war, via the reputable charity Medical Aid for Palestinians, MAP. All involved feel they must make a stand to raise awareness of the atrocities happening in Gaza and Lebanon, to show support for the innocent children and civilians who are suffering, and to help raise money for much needed aid. We were overwhelmed with support when we put a call out for interest. People feel passionately about this, instantly offering their creativity to help. There are 25 artists/acts from everything from rap to dark disco and everyone involved is offering their work and skills for free. All are offering either a previously limited release, or unreleased, track and many have created pieces specifically for the compilation. Some pieces are uplifting and light. Some are charged and political. We have not been prescriptive in what people should offer. The talented 25 stem from a diverse range of music genres, backgrounds and nationalities, demonstrating cross music and international support for the cause. At first, everyone involved were people we know; a rag tag group of artists and musicians from all areas of the UK, to France, Sweden and Berlin. These include Chris Mackin/Rotter, members of Meatraffle, Scud FM and Red Peril, electronic artist Maria Uzor (ex-Sink Ya Teeth), house DJ and producer who started at the original Blackburn raves, DJ Funk Boutique, electronic artist and producer MAN2.0, Belfast producer Simon Sheldon and more. However, as the project rolled over the first few weeks, it has gathered even more meaningful momentum, and great recent additions to the compilation are young Moroccan and Colombian, electronic artists Reda Saiarh and Ravetop, San Francisco DJ and producer Jason Peters, Belgian producer soFa elsewhere who is offering a track from his 2025 album with Kwaito legend, Sandy B, and a young Palestinian/New Zealand rapper Imagine This with New Zealand Hip Hop artist Che Fu.
