An Open-Ended Conversation with Ed Kelly

Ed Kelly, PhD, is Professor of Research at the Division of Perceptual Studies (DOPS) at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He is the 2020 recipient of the Myers Memorial Medal awarded by the Society for Psychical Research in England. He is co-editor of a series of three anthologies: Irreducible Mind: Toward a Psychology for the Twenty-first Century, Beyond Physicalism: Toward Reconciliation of Science and Spirituality, and Consciousness Unbound: Liberating Mind from the Tyranny of Materialism.

In this two-hour interview, he reviews his long career in cognitive neuroscience, parapsychology, and consciousness studies. He describes a host of experimental and theoretical issues. His long quest for knowledge has pointed him toward a worldview he calls evolutionary panentheism.

New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in “parapsychology” ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). He is also the Grand Prize winner of the 2021 Bigelow Institute essay competition regarding the best evidence for survival of human consciousness after permanent bodily death. He is Co-Director of Parapsychology Education at the California Institute for Human Science.
