Gardaí investigating the disappearance of Jo Jo Dullard and Deirdre Jacob have been searching open ground in an area near the Wicklow Kildare border. A previous search of the area took place earlier this year, concluding on 25 February. For the latest on this Anton spoke to Conor Lally, Security and Crime Editor with The Irish Times.

Almost half of all the speeding prosecutions that came before Ireland’s courts in a three-year period did not proceed any further. That’s according to a new analysis by The Journal Investigates. Are we doing enough to prosecute speeding? Anton asked Shane O’Donoghue Editor of Completecar.ie.

The European Council and the European Parliament have agreed to maintain free cabin luggage and financial compensation for delayed flights under the bloc's air passenger rights rules. To explain this further was Eoghan Corry, Editor of TravelExtra.ie.

Sinn Fein is bringing legislation to the Dáil later today to remove the mandatory three-day waiting period before having an abortion. The bill will be debated in the Dáil on Tuesday and voted on Wednesday, with Sinn Féin expressing confidence that there is broad political and public support for removing the waiting period. Speaking to Anton this morning was Spokesperson of the Pro Life Campaign Eilís Mulroy and Sinn Fein TD Louise O’Reilly.

Tuam has become the first town in County Galway to establish a fine for drinking alcohol in public. The fine, which can be enforced by a community warden or An Garda Síochána, starts at €75 and must be paid within 21 days. Failure to do so will see the penalty increase to €150.Anton discusses this with Shaun Cunniffe, Independent Ireland Councillor for Tuam.

Ireland’s paternity leave system is failing families, with dads losing nearly three-quarters of their income to take just two weeks off after the birth of their child. These findings are according to new Movember research. To look into this further with Anton was Movember Policy and Advocacy Director in Ireland, Walter Jayawardene.

News avoidance has reached its highest ever level, with 47 per cent of people saying they actively avoid the news, up 6 per cent from last year. That’s according to Coimisiúin na Meán’s Digital News Report being launched later today. With Anton to discuss more is Dr Niamh Sammon, Assistant Lecturer and Programme Chair of the BA in Journalism at TU Dublin and former Producer on Channel 4 News.

Oil prices have been falling in the aftermath of the announcement of a peace deal in the Iran war and with fuel supports announced earlier in the Spring due to expire at the end of next month. Tánaiste Simon Harris has said that the government will decide in the next two weeks about the continuing of fuel supports. We get reaction to this with Ger Hyland, President of the Irish Road Haulage Association.
