And this started happening while you guys were still in the league. Is it Bill? Is it Tom, like, who is responsible for the greatest era of success in the history of the NFL?

Yeah.

How do you react to those kind of, I guess, clickbaity arguments as well as, like, what do you think of Bill and what he meant for your success?

[Joe]

First of all, I think he's the greatest coach that, you know, ever. Greatest head coach in terms of preparing a team to win. There was nobody better. I was my privilege to play for him as his quarterback. There's no coach I'd rather choose. And it's. It's just a dumb analogy. It's like, what's more important, the left tackle or the center?

Well, left check. We can be honest about that one.

Especially in football. And there's nobody more important on Sunday than the quarterback. Now everybody's important. The person who washes the clothes is important. The quarterback just has an outsized kind of ability to help the team win because he touches the ball so much. But I need everybody to do their job. But if you have bad quarterback play, it doesn't matter what else you do, you're not going to win.

And if you have bad coaching, it doesn't matter how well the players are doing, you're going to lose. So I just think that question is like, they're all important. There's no way I could have been the player I was without him. And I think we pushed each other to, you know, get the best out of each other. And I think he's just. He's incredible. Anyone who played underneath him would say the same thing.

Hall of Famer should have been first ballot man. Crazy.

Besides all that, man, one of the most respected ever to do it, man. That's facts, Joe. And that's. That right there, bro, is why everybody loves and respects Tom Brady. You can disagree with him, you can say he didn't say some crazy stuff, but you still go respect him in dude, he gives as much as respect, probably more than he gets. He gives people like it's so much respect. It don't matter if you a practice squad dude, if you a dude that on the team for 10, 15 years, man, and him saying what he said is, bro, it's facts. Bill Belichick is the greatest coach to ever coach the game. You're looking at it, you see it. You see his, you see his, his championships, you see his coaching tree, you see everything that dict that he should have went first ballot hall of Fame. The fact that he didn't go first ballot hall of Fame, man in fl. Hall of Fame has lost all in absolute credibility we talked about.

And this is what I say, Debo, I agree with him 1000% because we see these quarterbacks. If Tom Brady wasn't drafted to the right situation, where you have a coach that's able to hold everybody accountable, his stars, all of his players, him and Tom Brady may have been bumping heads because he's holding that man accountable. And that's what you need from a great coach. To be able to push you, to be able to get the best out of you, not let things slip, to not let that stuff just get so. Just any like blase, flowy. No, it's none of that flowiness. With Bill Belichick, you're going to be held to a standard every day. And that's what makes the coach so great. Because great players, if you want to be great and you know how much it takes you, you will take the coaching because you know it's to make you better. It's nothing to harm you. It's only to help you. So if you want to be great, come take this coaching. Come let's, let's watch this film together. I'm willing to put in the hours because when you're a great coach, you can't deny he's doing everything he can. Sometimes maybe a little bit too much to get the edge, but the edge is going to get. You're going to know your coach is going to put you in the best position to win. So that's when with Tom and he could have went to a different team, got drafted to a different situation, and like Aaron Rodgers, that's When you put, if you put this quarterback in this situation, how many wins does he get? What is it, the coach or quarterback? It all works together. Because you can't say if Aaron Rodgers was drafted to the pictures because he wasn't. And Bill Belichick wasn't coaching Aaron Rodgers. And that situation didn't happen. It happened to be Tom Brady that got drafted. There happened to be Bill Belichick coaching him. With all of these players that he coached up all of these years to have this greatness and be able to do what they were doing, because that's a great coach, that's leading, amazing talent on the defensive side, offensive side, special teams, bringing you in with execution. It doesn't matter with the. Just sometimes being able to get rid of good players that you need knowing, like, it might be a year. He was doing it a year too early before a year too late. Bill Belichick just was able to cut the emotional side out of it and be like, what does the tape look like? What is going to be the best process for this team? And that's why when him and Tom Brady could start getting a little. He's like, I need to be playing for the future past Tom Brady. Like, that's a situation where you're a coach planning for your team all around, no matter what's going on. How's it looking? We were knowing, like, okay, boom, boom. Just that's what great coaches do. So I respect Tom Brady talking about him at such a high level. And the same thing with Bill Belichick, because they know what it takes. One couldn't do it without the other. It takes a great quarterback. Tom Brady was great. He wanted to be great. He studied, he loved the game. And the coach at the same time is bringing in everybody, other coaches, schemes, coaching other players and having his team and his system ready for each other, both of them. It was a perfect match made in heaven. So we can't take away one from the other. He's like, I needed him or it would not look like that. And I needed him or it would not have looked like that. We needed our players. We needed Randy Moss. We needed. You know what I'm saying, Gronkowski. We needed this, this, this team. So I think they both. They're speaking very highly on each other. And you can't have one without the other.

Yeah, I mean, you basically said everything that, that needed to be said there, man. Like, would it look different if it was, you know, somebody else? I don't know. Who knows? But I know, like, with Tom Brady having the skill that he has and all that, could he have went somewhere else and got seven or eight without Bill? I don't think so. I don't think Bill could win anywhere else with any other quarterback and got seven or. Or six or seven, whatever it was with. Without. Without time. So, you know, one can't go without the other. Even though y' all want to try and separate it and point to who was the best, they're not.

They're not ego driven. Nobody wants to have more credit than the other person. When you start getting ego driven, people who want more credit and want to be seen, things start getting destroyed and tore apart, like teams, players, whole organizations, you know what I'm saying? Football is the biggest team sport. You need everybody. Like, when he's talking about. That's why Tom speaks highly on, you know, is the tackle better, more than important? The center. He's like, if the center wasn't snapping me that ball every time, and maybe making. The center might be the ones being able to make the checks. Being at the center of the line. You know, they always say the tackle. Cause you're guarding the quarterback's blind side. So. But Tom Brady's like, okay, that's cool. For sure. I need that, right? Ball should be played on grass. You know why I felt like football should be played on the grass, Joe? He said, for. That's for safety purposes, number one. And he said, I want it to look like a game was played, even if it's an indoor facility. You see grass stains and everything else. I wasn't going to a stadium without it being grass. Once I knew the capabilities was there, Obviously it added a lot of cost, but it's worth it. The man is putting his money where his mouth is. They've got an indoor facility over there. It's hotter than witches. Whatever. Yeah, bruh. They roll it in and out every stadium. If y' all want to have these indoor stadiums. Every stadium required to have a rolling in and out indoor turf. You got to roll it out. Roll it in. You know what's so crazy? When I did NFL Europe, dude, it was. They had. I can't think of the name of the place I was induced off Germany, but the name of the soccer team, I couldn't remember. But they had rolling in and out turf back then. That was like 2002, bro. They rolled the whole turf out. Like, if they did an event, they rolled the whole turf out. And when I say the whole turf, man, that turf was like. It had to be like, maybe. Maybe eight or ten feet. Like.

Football should be played on real grass 1000%. It just is the way it feels so much better. FIFA came in and they were saying that basically they know grass is the way. If you're not worried about no money and you go switch about, you go switch it back to turf because they know that's just cost efficient. If you want to have something that's just people can. You can put stuff on, you can roll events on there and have different like things happen and then it's going to more the same. But as far as wear and tear, if you want to have your best ability on it, playing on grass is just the way to go for your joints, obviously. And then when it's that good grass, the grip and it gives a little bit more so you're not. It won't get. It won't get your ankle, won't get caught in it. It's just. It's naturally going to give a little bit just because that's the way grass works. So just him saying it is the most is obvious. But knowing at the end of the day when the owners, if you were to say I do have a product out there, I am playing, what is the best thing we talking about? Player safety. Grass is obviously better for players. So it just. If you want to say that, I know it's going to cost a little bit more, but you are investing into your product, you are investing into the players. So obviously like you said, unless they make it mandatory, then you could see some owners not doing it because financially it's not, it's. It costs more. It's not efficient for them. They have to move this, make another step. But if you're just saying, boom, I'm managing my asset, my football team, I got my players out there, I want them to have the best playing surface. We use natural grass. We can do that. And then you'll see the owners that do step up and do that. It's just because they are, they know it costs more. Some people, some owners and some people that own things, they'll do stuff for their employees knowing it's not as cost efficient for them, but it's just the right thing to do. It may like they still making money. It's not going to take from everything. They're not going to go into the red because they're buying a new field. No, it's just going to this year it might not be as much profit because we ended up putting this into the field. Cool. So next year's numbers will probably be. You know what I'm saying? It's just the. This, the. When you see an owner say it like this, like, boom. I know.

And they have weapons on the Offensive side of the ball, they always are going to say that they have a shot. When they had Jamar Chase and Joe. A healthy young Joe Burrow with T. Higgins, and then they say they're going to get some. They got some defensive pieces. They know if the defense is just average, they're going to be able to score 40. That's how they look at the Cincinnati Bengals. They can score 40, they can score 40. Their defense is just comparable. So when they have the young Joe Burrow with Jamar Chase and T. Higgins, they look at that as an offense. That's unbelievable. So if you can just have a competent defense. They're always trying to put the Cincinnati Bengals to a high level. He didn't play a lot of last year. They're saying the injuries, but they're always saying, if Joe Burrow is on that team, it's Joe Burrow, Jamar chase, that offense, 40 defense, give me something. They're. They're up there. That's how everybody. Analysts, the sports world, they look at them. With y' all got Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase, T. Higgins, Y' all have 40 on offense every time. If they're out there, get you a defense that does anything and y' all could be able to get to the super bowl with us. They like, oh, do y' all got Aaron Rod? Y' all don't. Who's Yalls quarterback? The defense has been not doing the way that they've been doing. Like. Like, y' all are just going to be average, average, average. What is the next thing so we know we can. I. I believe that we're still going to be nice, but everybody else outside Nationals, like the Steelers, when is the last time they won a playoff game? The Bengals were already to the super bowl with Joe Burrow, with Jamar Chase. They've seen them do it before, so they always like, oh, healthy Joe Burrow. They're gonna be able to get there. They're gonna be able to do it. Just defense, do something. Defense, do something. So that's Brad, like Bengals. I. I keep looking at it, too. I'm like, yo, the Steelers won the division. They're like, Joe Burrow didn't play. Lamar Jackson wasn't healthy. Okay, okay. We got the same squad. Aaron Rodgers. Oh, okay. We got better on offense. Defense is better. I'm looking at it. We're looking at it like, just come. Just chill. We could still be right. We're going to. And we were in the mix last year. Nobody expected it. We got distiller today. What they Gonna do. Oh, man, Aaron Rodgers, we still won the division. All right, now we got a better little squad, defense, coaches, let's lock the fuck in. And now I think we can sneak in where other people are like, nah, they just gonna be able to still go and do you know what I'm saying? 10 to 7, you know what I'm saying? Maybe make the playoffs, maybe not. Bengals, they just giving them a higher ceiling with a franchise quarterback. With Joe Burrow, like he's healthy with them, they're going to put up 40. They went and got some defensive pieces. They're trying to acknowledge that if he can make it through the season, they're just better. I'm like, no, they're not just better. Like, we could play against them. Lock that defense, lock that offense up. You know what I'm saying? They can't just go down, score on us at bay. You know what I'm saying? So we play our game. They're not just beating us and everybody's looking like, no Joe Burrow out there. They're going to be able to score how many times they want to score. So outside looking in, it's easy to say, you've seen Joe Burrow, be Joe Burrow and do it with Chase and Higgins. So they're always just, oh, no. With the healthy them, they're just putting 40 on the board. And now defense do something. So that's why everybody nationally thinks the Bengals are going to be so good. And I'm just like, you're going to have to play the games. They're going to have to score 40 still. You know what I'm saying? Joe Burrow's going to stand upright. These dudes are nice. You got ballers. So I'm not mad at you when you say it. Cause it does make sense. We've seen it before. But I just. It gotta happen. Season gotta happen.

what would have to happen in training camp is, hey, I'm on podcast. Literally, my thing is the defense, the execution. Execution of the defense, execution of the offense. Everybody just execution. Like, we have the players. If we can execute with the running game, blocking, stay ahead of the sticks, executing in the pass game, people knowing their routes, assignments, being on spot, on time with the communication with Aaron Rodgers, the defensive side, I'm not seeing anybody running scot free. Like I said this before, if people are in the same, if everybody's in their positions and dudes are just not going out of their selves, but just playing consistent football, good football, like disciplined football, I think we're going to be head and shoulders above what anybody else thinks because I think we're hurting ourselves getting ahead of the behind the sticks, just like draw like first downs, losing on first downs just because of hurting ourselves. So if we're not hurting ourselves, that's all we need. I'm like going through training, I just want to see us play the games the right way, not hurt ourselves. Offense, run the ball. Aaron Rodgers hit the dudes when we need them. When our running game's hitting one safety, come down dk, time to work on the outside. When we get through one on ones, let's hit our one on ones, you know what I'm saying? Like just basic football stuff. So it is not nothing going to be crazy, but it's just going to be you watching a good ass football team perform and not having people running around looking like an undisciplined team.
