the Eagles man are reluctant to pay Jaylen Carter Aber says the Eagles are hesitant to pay Carter and that the team wants to see a bit more from him. From a character perspective. If Carter won't give them that. If Carter won't give them that flexibility now, maybe he'll just wait another year which would make it. Which would make this a little like George Pickens situation in Dallas where the team might want to see a little more from a player just from a character perspective before committing long term Brer Road. Of course Carter was involved in a high profile incident where he spit on your guy got ejected six seconds into the opener. Hey man, what do you, what do you think? You think they, they got a legit reason or they just trying to lower the. Lower the ticket.
Joe
Lower the ticket. You know I tried debo the NFL they gonna try to find any reason not to pay you that bag. You know what I'm saying? So anything personal, anything like anything that was wasn't really that serious and when it was going on they're gonna try to find out reasons to not give you that max contracts so like that with teams and if they do have anything with questionable characters, they're going to just start Putting stuff out there and making you look like you need to take less. So, I mean, you know how it is. They got your rights. They kind of got you by the balls. You can't really do nothing. So that's why I always try to say, just try to stay out the way as much as you possibly can, because they're trying to find reasons the entire time not to pay you. Once you're out there balling you under contract, it's all good. But soon you start getting into negotiations, and every little thing is a big thing. Now it's, oh, oh, no, hold up, man, like you was. And they can do that because they have rights. They have your rights. They can franchise tag you. They can do certain things. So once it's time to negotiate, all of a sudden stuff starts coming out. So just trying to stay out of the way as long as possible. So I think that's what they're doing. It just, you know, if something. And then you've seen it. You seen. Did a little spit, whatever. Some, like, put anything.
B Boy
That was a little spit.
Joe
That was a real spit. That was a real spit. That's not a little spit. But, yeah, anything that they seen you do can be used against you in the court of law, in the court of contract,
B Boy
bruh. Hey, listen, I'm gonna have to. I'm gonna have to go with. I'm gonna have to go with them on this, man. Like, I'm sitting back and I'm. I'm the. You know, I'm the owner. I'm a hundred percent with them. This is not a talent issue. He has talent. This is a maturity issue. You can't scare nobody. Like, you. You can't do that, dude. Just a few months ago, you like, you want. What is it? They looking at something 30, 30 plus a year, possibly guaranteeing, what probably at least 60, 70% of that on guarantee. And now we know that you have a issue, and you already showed that you couldn't control yourself on something that was not even uncontrollable. Like, I can't have you tossed out of a game for multiple weeks because you decided to spit on somebody else or you did something slick and sly in the trenches. Like, I can't allow that. And you playing on the front line, bro. You know how much going on the front line where you can't react to it? It ain't like getting spit on or nothing like that, but it's a little knickknack stuff here and there. And because you're not the first one to take off.
Joe
Oh, you're gonna be the one to get caught trying to get. Oh, yeah.
B Boy
Reacting to. To what they did.
Tab Ramos
So you.
B Boy
You got to keep a cool head. And you already showed me that you couldn't do that in a situation where you should not even got hot.
Tab Ramos
So.
B Boy
And then when you look at it, they're saying it's, you know, other instances that, you know, they. That aren't publicly known, that. Yeah, you know that they know of that. So. Yes, 100. And like you said with the pickings thing, dude, if Pickens didn't have any character issue or anything, man, he would have been paid. He would have been. He would have been paid, bro. He would have still been in Pittsburgh, honestly, like, paid. But when it comes down to it, they like, yo, we know. We heard what it is. You came here. Yes, you did good. And for the most part, we didn't have really any real issues. But as they said, coming out at the end of the year, it was this, it was that. Okay? How easy is it for you to go ahead and act right for a year? How anybody can act right for a year, you know what I'm saying? But when they sign that deal, it ain't gonna be.
Joe
It's gonna be about a five, four,
B Boy
four, five years long term, right? You're looking at four or five years. You know what I'm saying? So let me see what you can do on this franchise. That's. I mean, that's how I would. I would have to play it because I can't. I can't just give you that much money and know that I already had an issue beforehand and then go give you the money and be sitting there looking like a mule chewing glue, because now you did exactly what we knew you would do and could do.
Joe
The NFL, man, they not. Once you start getting into, like when you. And then you see people that get into get these contracts and it doesn't quite work out. NFL's not playing. They want to have a reason where they just know, check all boxes, you know what I'm saying? You stay out of the way. You're not really doing too much. And then even say when they saying that they know things about Jalen they're keeping under wraps. When you have players on your team and you're not going to be giving the dirt out while you're coaching because you know they're on your squad, there's a lot of things on teams are just swept under the rug. We don't know what's going on in that Locker room. So we just seen him. We know what we saw. We know. We saw him spit on the player. That's not acceptable. And then we don't know how he's moving around in the facility. We don't know. So when the team starts saying little stuff, this is. Because now it's contract time. You trying to get the bag. People seen this on tv, what you did. Now we been on the inside just making sure everything's good. Cause you are on our team, you're a great player. But now you talking about you trying to get this bag. You're wilding sometimes over here. So let me just throw that out there to the. These people, let them know, hold up, hold up, hold up. He's trying to get that bag. But I don't know if the attitude is kind of matching up with it. So it's just. That's why I always say stay out the way. Because when it's time to get paid, all of that matters. All of that.
B Boy
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, bro. Like, I don't. Bro. I don't think they understand. That's like when you hear something and, and you hear a story and it gets out. Oh, it was, it was so and so did this or said that and da, da, da, da, da. And you know the person, you know the situation, you understand. And in your head, they're like, well, this has never happened before. And you're like, shit, that motherfucker been doing that for the last three or four years. Y' all just ain't heard anybody say nothing. You know what I'm saying? Nobody say nothing.
Joe
Yes. Cause at this, you exactly right. Performance and all that stuff is good. When you're under contract, everything's cool. Once you start talking about, I need a new contract, everything's not cool.
B Boy
Everything's not cool. Anything that, that, that, that, that could be an issue that could separate you from being on the field 100 of the time or being available 100 of the time is going to be an issue. Especially things that aren't injury or, or, you know, health related. Like, you're talking about something that you did that is outside of actual game situation play. It wasn't like, oh, you. It was a hit. That was questionable and you got suspended for that. No, you wouldn't spit on somebody, bro. Oh, yeah. We can't, we can't, we can't. We can't hear that.
Joe
And like you said, too, when you was bringing up, like, George, I love, love Pickens. And like you said, if he was just handling all of the off the field stuff when he was in there, just with any of that, he would have been paid handsomely because it's not about what he could do on the field. It's like, hold on, can I trust bro?
B Boy

And you want to like, just try to get them. No reasons to not be able to trust you. Just time. Being able to be on time. Being able to just be accountable for things and certain things. Would they let stuff slide while you're there? Because if you're playing at a certain level, things will be able to be good when you're under contract. But when you start trying to negotiate again, that's where they can really be like, ah, hold up. I don't know what it is. More short term, more. You got to prove it. You show me why we can be able to give you that.
B Boy
Yeah, definitely, definitely do. Todd Bowles. Todd Bowles suggested 2025 Buccaneers took place off.
Boost Mobile Advertiser
Brother.
B Boy
He said if we can prepare and we can execute and we don't look at the names on the people's helmets and we can play the same every week and learn how to finish off games and close games out. Instead of getting the lead and just taking plays off or not having the lead and having to come back late. You just want to play four quarters and you want to get out there. You just want to play four quarters and you want to get out there. And I think we have these types of alpha dogs on our team right now that will make this team, that will make this team to elevate to that. When you start coaching, when you start coaching themselves, when they start coaching themselves and don't need too much coaching on the sideline, that's when you know you've arrived. Yo, you got guys taking off.
Joe
I mean that that, that. That can't happen at all.
B Boy
What?
Joe
That. I think that's a.
B Boy
You ain't never had nobody taking off flags.
Joe
I mean, I mean, not, not, not me. Not me.
B Boy
I ain't say you, Joe.
Joe
I don't know. I don't know.
B Boy
I'm just asking. Joe. You never seen nobody take off.
Joe
I have. I know it's mainly probably just.
B Boy
I ain't asking for a name, Joe.
Joe
Yes, yes, I have. Exhaustion, tiredness, and you need to just get out the game. Sub, Sub, out. It's okay if you can't go. Your 60% is not my backups. 100%. Get out the game, take a breather, take a blow of wind. Because we need somebody that can go full speed. That's it. Like go in the right spot, full speed. If you just sitting in there, standing up, getting high, getting. You're not helping nobody. So my whole thing is if you're, if you. It's. It's a. Fatigue makes a coward out of everybody. So if you just. You gotta be able to get out, get a blow, just try. No, I'm fighting through. You're hurting us. You're not helping us. You being out there is hurting the team. So I'm saying the effort thing where you just like lagging, not giving effort, that's just. That, that's not okay at all. But I'm saying if it's an effort, if you're tired, tap yourself out. If you're giving up on the. If you're just giving up, then that's. That's a. Loafs are not okay. Like, what are we talking about? You got to get to the ball. That's a. That's a coaching thing. You can't have people. You can't. That's. You can't let that be accepted. That starts in practice, right? Starts in pursuit. Drill. You think you're not just pursuing after the ball during. He didn't start that in the game. That was happening in practice. You were letting that thing slide. So what you need.
B Boy
Well, you got to realize everybody don't
Kohler Ambassador
practice at the same time.
Joe
I don't want to hear none of that. If your team's not good, everybody needs to be getting to the rock. There's a level of where. Man, bump that. If you got to. You know what it is? Get to the rock.
B Boy
You got a burst, give me a burst.
Joe
Give me something. I don't give a damn how old you are. Like, you gonna be practicing or you not.
B Boy
That one's. That one's hard, though. I Ain't gonna lie to you. That one's hard, man.
Joe
Hell no.
B Boy
You probably know I've known players. I've known players that are hall of Fame status players, and they don't. They don't go like that. You know what I'm saying? And I've known guys that go in practice so hard, but they can't elevate from that practice level in the game. So then you start seeing them in practice, and the coach may end up giving them a chance, yo, let me put you over here. Give you a chance. And then they get in the game and, you know, most people, they elevate from practice into the game. It's no elevation. They practice speed is. They gain speed. So, you know, it's a little disappointing. I like you. I'm like, I'm trying to go as
Joe
hard as I can.
B Boy
So when. When you. Or when. When I think about it, I think athletes in, in team sports, like, if they taking off plays, it's a combination of things. And I think the number one thing is what you said is they're tired. Like you, you know, you tired, and then your ego will not let you lead a game. Fatigue makes cowards of all of us, okay? And you start processing stuff slower because you tired, you making decisions that you wouldn't normally make. Your judgment is all messed up, you know, and especially now, dude, like, it's extremely rare to have a guy or a whole group of guys that play a hundred percent of the snaps at every position, you know, and you aren't either, you know, subbed in or out of.
Joe
It's two positions. You got DBs and you got linemen, offensive lineman, offensive lineman and DBs, I think are the only two positions that don't. That don't sub out. When the quarterback, obviously, but receivers rotating your linebacker sometimes with packages may rotate your D line, obviously, you keep them. You keep them rotating.
B Boy
Dude, when I first started playing and, well, when I first started playing, period, like, it was no rotation like the starting linebackers. That's who. The dudes that they. Them boys played the whole game. Like, that's just what happened. It was no subbing. You didn't, you know, you came in to training camp, you came in condition and ready to go, dude, you know, hell, from 2000, 2007 when I first started to 2009 or 10, bro, I played damn near every snap. And I did punt and kickoff, the ones that go straight to defense, dude, you had to come in there and shape, dude. It was no rotation like that. That's not something that happened. You know what I'm saying? And again, like you said, it's the ego. You got a guy that, you know, he believed, you know, maybe his 80 is better than the guy behind him 100. But when you start getting into, you know, you, you at the 70 and
Joe
the 6, you're not saying, you're not, you're not holding your gap, you know,
B Boy
that's ego talking to you, man. That's ego talking to you. It's no way that you can believe that you can sit there and do your job better than the guy behind you at a hundred percent can do it. What you doing at 60 or 70%, that's, you know, that's just either. And you're gonna.
Joe
Because it's not. I don't think they're taking plays off. It's just, you can't get there.
B Boy
Oh, now I will say now you do have some guys that take plays off. Like, real talk, like, let's say, like, when you get guys that are like, pursuing the ball, like, dude is pursuing the ball, okay, and he's not going, yeah, he gets stop, go. Because he's thinking somebody' gonna make the tackle, but nobody makes the tackle. And if he didn't get a stop, go, stop, go. And gave 100%, he could have saved that tackle made, could have saved that, you know, that touchdown. Or you got a guy that's doing a stop goal, like, oh, he about to get tackled, but he don't get tackled. And if he gave 100% and just kept going, he could have been the person that made that block to help that dude get a touchdown.
Joe
We going low.
B Boy
Combination.
Joe
Yeah.
B Boy
Oh, yeah, for sure.
Joe
That's that change of speed. I'm like, what you doing? There's one, one speed you gonna get there. You just. Oh, you like when coaches see that change of speed, like, you could have been going that fast the whole goddamn time get there, right?
B Boy
If you went that fast the whole time, you would have got there. You could have saved every, every, every inch count, every yard count. You could have saved 3, 4, 5 yards, whatever that may be when, when the process come down to it. So I, I understand, you know, I understand what he's saying and, and the concept of it, but also, you are the head coach. You dictate and you make, you make that acceptable or unacceptable by how you practice. And if it's somebody that, you know, that you don't seen in the game as a head coach and you like, yo, he's loafing like, he's Loafing in like, yo, you can't. You, you don't get the, the.
Joe
The.
B Boy
The. The. The practice of. Oh, I understand that. You, you, you. You go do this different in practice. No, you don't get that. You can't be a guy that got any loaf in you or had any loafs in a game and be the guy at practice that's saying, oh, yeah, I'm right there. I got no.
Joe
You know, too. It's about coming in. That's coming in the, the day, the meeting after the game. That eye in the sky don't lie when you're getting that. When you got a coach that's holding you accountable of loafs, of you was the one that could have got there to this play. And being embarrassed in front of your fan, in front of your friends, in front of your teammates is one of the most scariest things that I could be. Because you wanted. You talk all this good stuff, you talking all this nice shit. You supposed to be the ball and all that right here. Boom. You see you changing speed. You could have got there and made the play and you didn't do it.
B Boy
You know how many coaches don't call that out?
Joe
That's crazy to me. Everybody. The only way you can get full buy in is if your best players are.
B Boy
Boop.
Joe
Held accountable. Oh, my God.
Commercial Announcer
Boop.
Joe
They're doing it. And if you can call out the top best player that's making the bread, everybody else call out players.
B Boy
You ain't even got to call out the bottom.
Joe
Because they go get scared because I'm coming that joint. I'm scared. Cause I know at the end of the day, I know I'm making this check and I got to go out here and ball the fuck out because I know I'm nice and this is what I do. So if coach can call me out anytime and then it's being able to be accountable, you're not going to do everything perfect. When you do mess up, you take that on the chin. That's me. Boom. I bet it won't happen again. And you don't make the same mistake twice ever. That's why.
B Boy
That's real bad boy would call out anybody, man. Ooh, we in. In the meeting. In the team meeting. What? Bill Coward. Oh, my God. Dude. He would call out anybody in the
Joe
team that mean you love that. Because special team, anything that means you love it and your teammates.
B Boy
And again, something else. We watch special teams as a team,
Joe
as a unit, as a unit, whole
B Boy
unit, everybody like team breakdown, man.
Joe
That's gonna have your special team. They want to show the team they deserve. They just. Everybody, good work. You want your special teams, though. They want. They want that. They want that love from the squad showing like, I'm on the team too. You know, I'm crashing out, dude.
B Boy
I'm like, you sitting in there sweating. Hey, bro, you. You ain't missing that game, did you? Yeah, I kind of did. I kind of let him loose and you know, like, you sitting in there like, damn, I know it's about here.

Harmony When Kohler, the global design leader in luxurious kitchen and bath products, came to me and said, martha, we need an ambassador for our timeless, elegant, durable cast iron products. I said, I'm in now. Let me see the factory. Weeks later, I was suited up in coveralls and work boots, walking through their Kohler Wisconsin cast iron foundry. I stood next to the molten iron furnace, saw the hand applying enamel, and touched the gorgeous finished products waiting to be sent out into the world. Since 1883, Kohler cast iron products have been forged and finished by the incredible craftspeople right in Kohler, Wisconsin. I'll tell you, I gained a newfound respect and appreciation for Kohler's cast iron craftsmanship. So now I'm lending my discerning stamp of approval to my most beloved Kohler cast iron products for their durability, beauty and timelessness. Joe
Yep, I know I'm winding. And they gonna keep having you mess up. They gonna keep having you mess up. Back up and forward. Back up and forward. I messed up God damn back there. Hey, keep messing up.
B Boy
Like the back and forward was. If he thought you was not accelerating into the wedge, you know that's when they had the three or four man wedge.
Joe
You said, are you shutting down?
B Boy
You better not go into that wedge and make like you slowing down. When you see the wedge accelerate as fast as you can and drop and blow through whoever it is you go hit. If you come in there and you go to slowing down, he will rewind that thing. What are you doing? Are you accelerating or decelerating 20 times decent. Decent. What is this?
Joe
What is this? He doesn't want it.
B Boy
Spit flying.
Kohler Ambassador
Come on.
Joe
Yes. That's gonna get you.
B Boy
Cat's just in there like, oh, my God.
Joe
You got to. Got to put that thing up on that tape. And your boys will be running around full speed.
B Boy
Yeah, bro, I. I ain't gonna lie, bro. We had. We. We had times where, like, I'm like, bro, like, I missed the total whole block of all that, bro. And you have some cats that try to hit it off. Hey, they go to him.
Joe
Don't do that.
B Boy
Yeah, hey, we go. Don't worry about it.
Joe
We won't get to it. Don't worry about. Happens to everyone. It happens to everyone. They trying to pre explain. No, no, don't worry about it. I've seen it. We're gonna talk about it on the big. On the big board.
B Boy
Yeah, I had one one time where I was just nervous as hell, bro. So we had, like, a right return, right? I think I might have told you this before. So we had a right return. So as we go and we started running. So it's a right return, right? So you're turning this way. So as we do the return, and that's when we would circle back, and you could crack block. You know what I'm saying? So I circle back, and as I circle back, I turned around, and I'm thinking, right? So I'm turned the other way now. So my right, okay? So I start going the other way, right? So he see it on film, and he's like, silverbell, what is this? What is this? What are you doing here? Do you know? It's a right return? I said, yeah, Coach. I said, listen, this is what happened. I said, I knew it was the right to turn. I said, but when I turned around, my right was still on my right. So I went right. He just started laughing.
Joe
Hey, okay, okay, okay, okay. You get you. You get you. That's a good one. Usually you get that one one time, and it's a great one, though. It's a great.
B Boy
I had another one, though. It was. It was. I think. I think we was. I think we was like, Cincinnati. And, like, he's doing the team meeting, bro, and, you know, he's like, hey, you know, make sure you guys, you know, do whatever, whatever. And if something happens, you know, blah, blah, blah. And he's like, hey, sometimes happens. You just got to keep going, right? So we in the game, and I don't got a holding penalty, bro, and someone wanted to return, so I'm coming Off the field, he's like, silver back, silver back. I'm ignoring. He like, I know you hear me. So he said again. I turned to him, he's like, what are you doing? Why are you holding it? I said, coach, it happens. Yeah, you did something real, but you
Joe
ain't got no excuse, right?
B Boy
Yeah, yeah, bro. Yeah, for sure. But Bill Cower was. Yeah, Bill Carter, he wasn't. He wasn't. He wasn't playing no games, bro. Like, he was. He was calling you out in front of everybody. He didn't give a damn who you was.
Joe
Them the type of coaches that I love. Them the type of coaches gonna get the team better, for sure.
B Boy
Hey, man, we gonna hit these couple chats.
Boost Mobile Advertiser
You got a hard.
B Boy

Joe

B Boy

Joe
Appreciate you. Appreciate you. What's your favorite? Like I said, what's your favorite workout?
B Boy
Yeah, me. And so if. I don't have like a favorite, like workout itself, but if I'm talking about body part and it used to be my legs, I used to love doing legs when I could squat.
Joe
The whole real weight lifter talk right there.
B Boy
Yeah.
Joe
You know, everybody in a bench debo with them real back.
B Boy
My back. My back got a little janky on me, you know what I'm saying? Had those couple back surgeries, but I still lifted heavy then. But since I've been done playing, you know, and I try not to go above like maybe like 405, squatting or whatever, and then I may. I may cling a little heavier like on track bar, maybe like 495 or something like that, but that's. That's about it. So me, I'm going five now. I ain't gonna lie. Favorite now is probably Corey.
Joe
Okay.
B Boy
I like. You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? I'm too. I'm 250, but I. I look like, you know, I'm saying I look like I'm victim weight because, you know, them abs popping out. You feel me?
Joe
You know you eating good too.
B Boy
Eating real good. You know what I'm saying? Eating real good. Working out with. But then again, Joe, you know, sound with you.
Joe
I like them bodies and tries, man.
B Boy

B Boy

Joe

B Boy

Joe

B Boy
Yeah, I think my son arms might be bigger than yours. I'm talking about my youngest. I know. My oldest is. I'm just talking about. I'm talking about the little one, you know what I'm saying? The one that's only 180. You know what I'm saying? I'm just saying.
Joe

B Boy

This Nightcap episode pulls back the curtain on NFL culture, from contract politics to the gritty realities of staying on the field. Deebo and Joe, with Sharpe and Ochocinco, blend laughs and hard truths—reminding any athlete or fan: talent only gets you so far; accountability, maturity, and consistency are what earn you trust, cash, and respect in the league. And in Bill Cowher’s world, that reputation—and your legacy—are built one film session, one practice, and one very public call-out at a time.
