Goodbye. The next Victory raid in Manhattan on Thursday were reportedly safeguarded by 10,000 members of the NYPD, the largest number of police officers ever assigned to a planned event, the department said Wednesday. The contingent will include heavy weapons teams, explosive detection, canine transport, transit highway, aviation drones and more. According to the police, the parade will kick off at 10am near the park at New York's financial district and and the route will continue along Broadway until it reaches City hall, where Mayor Zo Mandami will present the new the next keys to the city. The route known as the Canyon of Heroes for his his history and selling of a ticker tape parade Thursday. Ticker tape parade for the new NBA champions will be a first. The team won its title before 1970 and 1973. It was honored with New York signature profession.
Ocho (Speaker)
Huh?
Joe (Main Speaker)
It was. Oh yeah, they had no parades back then. I don't know when the parades when the victory parade started, guys. I don't know when it started, but it damn sure was going on in the 70s.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Hey, yeah.
Ocho (Speaker)
Hey, that city gonna. But that city gonna be lit, boy. Lit boy.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Hey, hey. But it don't surprise me that they got all this security. Oh, you already know it. Hey, you already know it. It's somebody who gonna be feeling froggy and they doing joke. Listen, you already know it.
Ocho (Speaker)
They act the way they did after games, after winning games, sometimes even the game that they lost. And they was acting up. Imagine the parade we champions, boy. They finna show that. You know what?
Joe (Main Speaker)
Absolutely.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Oh yeah.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Teddy, where you want to go to the parade,
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Teddy Bear?
Ocho (Speaker)
Hey man, why Teddy ain't sleep? What's 11 o'? Clock?
Joe (Main Speaker)
He said I don't go to bed like 8:15?
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah, it's 8:00'. Clock.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Okay, he said. And plus dad was eating some popcorn, so I came and got me a little bit.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Hey, you ain't got Teddy no girlfriend or nothing, man.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Teddy said I don't do no child support. All the money got him fixed.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
You done cut the man, man.
Ocho (Speaker)
You a let him experience it.
Joe (Main Speaker)
No damn, man. And then you can't let them go to the park if they not fixed you.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Hey, hey, hey. They can't go to the vet, they can't go to the park. They can't do nothing. Titus.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Titus Ain't fixed, but I take Titus. Titus go to the vet.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Oh, do it.
Joe (Main Speaker)
But a lot of times I haven't come to the house.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah.
Joe (Main Speaker)
I need to be around because he a handful.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah.
Joe (Main Speaker)
You don't see Daddy.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah. Hey, that's how. That's how mine is. I. I get the. They on wheels. They come over here, you know. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You gotta have that when you got them big master of the big dogs.
Georgia from My Favorite Murder
Who.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
You know, if you drop them off, they gonna act a fool. Boy, please.
Joe (Main Speaker)
People don't build, you know. Hey, Mr. Sharp, I just left. What you calling me for? Damn. You done already? Yeah, he got us hemmed up in here. But that thing gonna be crazy. That thing's gonna be crazy. And it couldn't happen to, you know, like I said, I don't really know any of the Knicks players. You know, I follow him, but it's hard not to root for Jalen Brunson. It's really hard not to root for him.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Is.
Onplus Nicotine Pouches Announcer
It? Is.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Hey, and not only Jalen Brunson, but when you look at Cat, who's from the area, when you look at Bridges, when you. You know, those Josh Hart guys who've been fighting with Brunson since college. You won a college championship, and now you get to win on the NBA. Man, I just love the chemistry and the continuity that they have as a. As a unit. They look great together. They look like they have fun. I enjoy watching they podcast, bro. So kudos to the Knicks, man. This was great for basketball, especially Cat,
Joe (Main Speaker)
because he caught a lot of criticism.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Oh, man.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Proved that he. That he can play. He can be a major contributor. Maybe he didn't need to be the central fit because. Because now they try to diminish you if you're not the central figure. So if I'm in a movie and I ain't got the lead role, so I guess that doesn't make me a good actor. If I'm not Denzel, if I'm not Tom Hanks or Tom Cruise. What? So if I'm not Meryl Streep, Viola Davis, I'm not any good, right? Come on, now. It takes all that. Everybody can't be the lead.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Gotta play your role, baby. You gotta play it to the team.
Joe (Main Speaker)
How many movies you seen? Tom Hanks, Denzel, Samuel Jackson, all them in the same. And Tom Cruise in the same movie. The same reason why you don't see four big leagues win a championship. That's exactly why.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Everybody. Everybody can't lead. And it's okay. It doesn't make you any less of a player. And now, like. Well, he ain't lead. What? Everybody that lead on Magic team, Everybody that lead on Shaq and Kobe, Everybody didn't lead with Bird, right. So I guess Mikhail was chop liver. Paris was chopped liver. DJ was chopped liver. Nate Archibald was terrible. So what about Bob McAdoo? What about Jamal Wills? They didn't.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
They.
Joe (Main Speaker)
They served no role. Come on. Got for historic championship run, Vegas gives The Knicks the fourth best odds to complete the 2P. The spurs have the best odds, followed by the Thunder, the Celtics, then the Knicks. I'm not surprised by this. It doesn't happen very often, a team that win the championship. Because guess what? I don't think is Seattle the favorite Seattle in football? Cause we won the championship in 97, and we came back, the packers were favored. We just beat the Packers. How we not favorite? The repeat.
NBC News Announcer / PSA Speaker
Ravens.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Seahawks. See that? Oo. Seahawks are rams, bills, ravens, seahawks.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
They feel. Hey, they feel like them. These teams had historic runs, bro. Hey, you know what I mean? And that don't necessarily mean that they were the best team at that time. You know, football a little different.
Ocho (Speaker)
Yeah. Even though Cincinnati gonna win it all. But I. I got you.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Oh, man.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Oh, here we go.
Ocho (Speaker)
I'm surprised they didn't even mention them.
Joe (Main Speaker)
I'm not. I'm not. We. We can't have that. We cannot have that. We must stop that at all costs.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Do you hear me? The Bangles.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Y' all got the 4th, 14th best odds, though, Ocho.
Ocho (Speaker)
Yeah, I could. I could have told you that.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Behind.
NBC News Announcer / PSA Speaker
Behind.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Ah.
Ocho (Speaker)
Hey, hey, Joe. Do you understand why y' all behind? Do you see how we even prove defensively now? I know. Listen, we ain't been on the field yet. We ain't been on the field. Just, you know, a bunch of good names on paper. Bunch of nice veterans, you know, who got a nice presence based on the team they came from. But, I mean, we.
Pets Best Insurance Announcer
We.
Ocho (Speaker)
We made. We made tremendous improvements. Something y' all haven't done defensively.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yes, we have.
Joe (Main Speaker)
We. We.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
We feel some holes. We feel some holes defensively that. That. That's gonna help improve our deep. Oh, we were.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Damn.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
The dead last in defense last year.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Again this year, too.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Come on, come on, Mar. Come on. Come on, man.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Oh, yo, working on some material for you guys. You know, I'm saying? I mean, I want you guys to do well, Joe.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
No, you don't.
Ocho (Speaker)
Hey, Joe. I want. I want offensively. Offensively, you know, CD and Pick gonna. You Know, they gonna do their thing. You know, I call. I call them the triangle. The triangle offense. They gonna do their thing now with that.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Okay, all right.
Joe (Main Speaker)
But. But that. That's. That normally happens because you're going to lose some players, players that contributed heavily. You heard Jim Dolan says he's not going into that second apron, which means it's going to probably be hard to bring some of those guys back like a shammy, maybe a Mitchell Robinson. So, you know, so the team is going to be different. The team will. The team that won the championship will be very different than the team. The team to the. Defend the championship. And that's why every time that I spoke the night before the Super Bowl, I would always tell the guys, I said, cut the light on. Cut the light would be. Damn. I said, cut the light on. I said, look around. It'll never be like this again. Guys that are in this room right now, unfortunately, we all won't be back here next year. Coaches that are in this room, unfortunately, will not be back here next year. Seize this moment. Seize this opportunity, because it's never, ever going to be like this again. We don't need anybody in this room to be the reason why we won. But don't you be the reason why we didn't win.
Ocho (Speaker)
That's a good one.
Joe (Main Speaker)
And I think that's the hard part, because, you know, you develop a friendship. Joe and O. Joe, you know, we played this game a long time. You see guys three, four, five years, and all of a sudden they ain't back like, damn, man, I miss old. I miss old boy, man. The dude funny, the bug, man, man, you been with Ocho, man. You remember Ocho came here with that raggedy car, man. You remember Ocho, man, on the trip, man, I said, man, Ocho, what you got, old man? Yeah, Bad Joe came out there dressed like he was straight out of Arkansas.
Ocho (Speaker)
Hey, that. That's how it was with tj, huh?
Joe (Main Speaker)
Yes.
Ocho (Speaker)
Hey, Joe, me and TJ played it. Played at Oregon State together. Then we got drafted to Cincinnati, man. Then he left me, man, and went to Seattle, man. Man, I was mad, man.
Joe (Main Speaker)
It's tough.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Hey, hey, that's. That's the biggest thing you miss in professional sports when you done playing that camaraderie that you had with your teammates, bro. Them bus rides, them plane, them flights, bro. There's nothing better.
Joe (Main Speaker)
When are we gonna be around? When are we ever gonna be around? 50, 60 teammates,
Ocho (Speaker)
you can't. You can't replicate it, huh?
Joe (Main Speaker)
You can't. You can't replicate.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
You cannot. You can't. You can't. The card games, all that, man. Come on, bro. Come on, bro.
Joe (Main Speaker)
That's what you miss. That's. You do, man. Look, the money was great. I ain't gonna tell nobody the money wasn't great. The money is even more astronomical now. But the money is the. Like Joe said, that locker room is the stretching on the practice field. It's the walking to the practice field. It's the bus rides to and from the game. It's the. The plane ride to and from the whole, you know, to and from the. Where you were going. The. The bus ride to the hotel. Man, what bus? Sharp, man, sharp. What bus you on, man? You know, a bus. On my own bus, too. Hey, I had to. Hey, if you got on something nice, you want to get on bus, too? If you got us a bull job. Yeah, Bus three, right? Cause we gonna cut your ass up.
Ocho (Speaker)
Well, they let you have it, bro.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Did we?
Ocho (Speaker)
Hey, no, no mercy.
Joe (Main Speaker)
I know we had some of the coaches like, man, I would. Hey, I want to laugh, too. They get on bus, too. They normally, you know, coaches normally ride bus one, right? But they get on bus, too, man. We wouldn't laugh. We already know. You go cut up. Absolutely.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Hey, that's why, look, I wanted to win because, look, the work of practice, the week of practice that we had, all the work that you put in the off season. But I just be wanting to clown, right? Hey, hey, hey.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
And it's hard to do that. Getting your butt.
NBC News Announcer / PSA Speaker
No, no, no.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Ain't no talking joke. Oh, no. Oh, no, that thing. Hey, it's silent, boy. You can hear rat peeing on cotton. Ain't no Kiki kid. Ain't no. Hey, what would we laugh about? What?
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Hey, boy, I'm telling you, them damn losses. Be a character, boy.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Tough, man.
Ocho (Speaker)
Hey, lose enough, Joe, man, it Bill of callous. Boy, How many winning seasons I had? What, two? One.
Joe (Main Speaker)
One or two?
Ocho (Speaker)
That's.
Joe (Main Speaker)
I mean, we won. Hold on, Ocho. I won in three years. In three years, I won 39 games and two Super Bowls.
Ocho (Speaker)
Damn, Joey were rough on me with 13.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Three.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
I can imagine.
Joe (Main Speaker)
14 and two.
Ocho (Speaker)
Damn, it was rough. Hey, I.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Hey, but you know what? It's just as easy to. To win two, three in a row as it is to lose two, three in a row. The margin of victory is so small.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Oh, it's so, so, so small. So thin.
Joe (Main Speaker)
And the problem is that when you win, especially when you win a championship, you get people wanting to be more and more Involved, right? They're the reason why they want to do a little bit more when that's not required.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Right?
Joe (Main Speaker)
And. And so that's the thing, is that you ever notice, like Ocho, when you have success, everybody want to be a part of your success. But when things ain't going bad, where they at?
Ocho (Speaker)
Nobody got a quote.
Joe (Main Speaker)
I got a quote. I kept it. Ocho and Joe. It says, success has many fathers, but failure is an orphan. You see, when you're successful, how many people want to be a part of that? I did that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But when you lose you an orphan, you by yourself, don't nobody want to take responsibility with you. You notice that? That thing stuck with me. Success has many fathers, but failure is an orphan.
Ocho (Speaker)
That's a good one.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Everybody, man. Man, I used to put. I put diapers on Joe, man, I used to take that boy to the store. He held no ride to the game. I gave a ride to the game, right? I bought that boy first pair of tennis shoes.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah. Yeah,
Joe (Main Speaker)
man, I knew that boy was gonna be nothing. I knew it would be nothing.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah, man.
Joe (Main Speaker)
That's it, boy.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Damn.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Look at Joe.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
You said, oj.
Joe (Main Speaker)
You try to remember that. Ho.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Hey, that's how I go.
Ocho (Speaker)
Hey, hey. I done been that now.
Starbucks Tropical Butterfly Refresher Announcer
Yes.
Ocho (Speaker)
I didn't been at the highest of the high and at the lowest of the lows, bro.
Joe (Main Speaker)
But hey, when you riding, it's like your Barney Porter used to say, boy, when you got too many riders and not enough fixers. He said, everybody your friend, when you riding, but let that car break down come time to put the gas in. Need a spark plug, distributor cap, voltage regulator. You need something, man. Man, you know bad Chad, boy. Boy, you caught me at a bad time. Yeah, we were just riding, so we ride. It was good time, huh? Gotcha. Gotcha. You learn a lot, you'll learn a lot. And that's what you got to be careful, because there. Everybody. Everybody that's cheering ain't for you.
Ocho (Speaker)
Hey. Oh, I gotta. I gotta. I gotta write that down. Hold on. I gotta. I gotta put that in my notes.
Joe (Main Speaker)
I had to. I had to. You know, some. But you know what? A lived experience is still the best teacher.
Ocho (Speaker)
How you said everybody. What?
Joe (Main Speaker)
Everybody that's cheering ain't cheering for you.
Ocho (Speaker)
That's a good one. Yeah, let me say that. Use that on Twitter tomorrow, boy.
Joe (Main Speaker)
You have to, boy. You have to. Sometimes you just have to go through things and. And find out for yourself.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yep. Absolutely.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Didn't go through it. You would have never known it. You'd have gone 10, 15, 20 years thinking, but that's my boy.

Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
I know what you mean, boy.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Max Kellerman said on the Game over podcast, if you take SGA off the Thunder and replace it with Jalen Brunson, the Thunder beat the Spurs. Joe, do you agree?
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
No, I don't. I don't agree. I think the Thunder ran into the mishaps of the spurs because they weren't totally healthy. We know that Jaylen Jayen William, Jalen Williams wasn't healthy. A.J. mitchell got hurt in what second game, Uncle Oo yeah, you know what I mean. So you know, you lose 2 of your bucket getters against a Spurs team like that. Yeah, you, you, you gonna be hurting, bro. I just think they, I just think they wasn't healthy, which is probably why, you know, they weren't able to advance to the finals. I don't believe that though.
Joe (Main Speaker)
What you think? What you thinking, Ocho?
Ocho (Speaker)
I mean Jalen Brunson is awesome as he is, but obviously the injuries played a huge toll. Injuries played a huge toe. I mean we know that they run at full strength so it's hard to say. I think in certain Jalen Brunson in that place, I think they still do just as well. But you talk about two different players, two different playing styles. Both they can get to their. Get their shots off, they can score. So I think that really doesn't change much from a scoring perspective.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Yeah.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
What you think?
Joe (Main Speaker)
It's just hard. It's just hard to say because every clutch moment that they needed, right, they got it from Brunson. And if you look at it with the exception of. And Brunson didn't shoot the best, but when his best was required, they got it. Boy, they didn't always get that from Shay.
Ocho (Speaker)
Yeah.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Every game that when Jalen Brunson, he might be shooting terrible. He might be. He might be 5 for 22. He gonna end up 8 for 25 because he gonna make. He gonna go 3 for 3 when he absolutely gotta have it.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah.
Joe (Main Speaker)
And.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah, well, I think. I think what you have is considering the fact that OKC can't spread the floor like the Knicks can because Hardenstein can't shoot. He's a hard working utility guy, hustle player as opposed to Cat, who Wemby has to pay attention to, has to stick to. It's a huge difference. He can't just roam, play that free safety to where he can help everybody like he did in the OKC series. You know what I mean? Cat makes him have to stay honest because he can shoot it. Hell, Cat won the first two damn games.
Joe (Main Speaker)
And if you think about it, Joe, everybody for the Knicks that they were counting on played great. Now they bought Mike. Didn't all play great at the same time.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Same time.
Joe (Main Speaker)
But like you said, Cat. And then you get Mikhail Bridges and you get a Josh Hart and then you get OG playing consistent with the exception of the last game. And then you get Jalen Brunson. He's like, okay, y', all, I'll take it from here.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yep, yep. Complete team.
Joe (Main Speaker)
You get Landry Shamon played extremely well. Mitchell Robinson giving you big rebound, big second chance opportunities. None bigger than the game five when he had back pushed Wimy up under, got the rebound and kicked it out and they had the foul.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yep, yep.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Look, Caruso played unbelievable. Kason Wallace played unbelievable. But I didn't get that consistency from Chad Lou do.
Ocho (Speaker)
He ain't give you nothing, huh?
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
They gotta figure it out, man. OKC got they. Hey, they gotta make some room anyway over there.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Yes. That team is gonna look a lot different.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
I think so too.
Joe (Main Speaker)
It's gonna look a lot different.
Ocho (Speaker)
Oh, yeah. You know who else gonna look different?
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
The Heat.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Oh, Lord,
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
I hope y' all get job, bro.
Ocho (Speaker)
Huh?
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
I hope y' all get job.
Ocho (Speaker)
I have John and Giannis.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
No, that ain't gonna happen.
Ocho (Speaker)
And Joe, it's a whole lot of, like, riff raff going on with. With certain outlets, you know, to. About Giannis, the Boston and Giannis here and Giannis there. Man, every time. Not I, I, you know, I don't want to get myself in trouble, but, you know, where he going? I want, I want to say no more, you know, where he going?
Joe (Main Speaker)
You got something to say?
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Okay. All right.
Ocho (Speaker)
You know, we probably coming out. We coming out east next year, though.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Pat Bev joined the recess advice and said he's taking Jalen Brunson over Allen Iverson. We got a video, you know. Okay.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Damn.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Who said that? Pat Bev. Remember he said he's taking James Harden over Dwyane Wade.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Pb, my man's bro. But I'm not sure if I'm taking
Ocho (Speaker)
Brunson over saying that simply because he won the championship.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yes, well, you know, and he know it weighs heavy, too, by him saying that. Yeah, it's got. He's got some weight to it. Brunson in the conversation now, he done. Hey, he showed me a lot this whole season. Yeah, he showed me a lot.
Joe (Main Speaker)
I mean, I tell you what you think. Brunson team the Knicks beating Shaq and Kobe. Cuz that's what Ellen Laverton was up against. Hell, no.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
No, no. They only lost two games that whole playoff run, and one of them was to AI.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Lord have mercy.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah. Yeah.
Joe (Main Speaker)
I think when it's all said and done, we'll see where it goes. But we got, like I said, NGs are everything. Ring is everything.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah.
Joe (Main Speaker)
I mean, I think Scotty Pippen's a phenomenal player. Scotty Pippen's not better than Larry Bird. He's not better than Kevin Durant. He's not better than LeBron James. He's not. He has more rings. He's not a better basketball player than those guys. He's not. I agree with you because he has rings. And I think in Jalen Brunson. Look, Jalen Brunson could go on. He might get two or three more rings. He might get an mvp, and then we'll have to revisit this conversation.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Right.
Joe (Main Speaker)
But Allen Iverson was one of the top players in the league. Alan Arson was a top five player for about three to five years, maybe more.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah, he changed the game, bro.
Ocho (Speaker)
Hey, on and off the court, Joe.
Starbucks Tropical Butterfly Refresher Announcer
He did.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. He changed the. Ooh.
Joe (Main Speaker)
All that stuff that you See the cornrows? The. The big. The big. Like I said, you couldn't find no 5 XTS. He had them.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
The tattoo.
Joe (Main Speaker)
The tattoos.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He came with all that.
Joe (Main Speaker)
He the one that David Sturg said, nah, hell no. I'm tired of y' all showing up like this here.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah. Hey, hey, that man.
Joe (Main Speaker)
That man, he got on some 40 jeans.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah, yeah. And he had to step in the animals running, doing what they want to out there. Yeah.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Like I said. Y' all remember Tim Duggie showed up and got his trophy with some Bermuda shorts, the flip flops,
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
like.
Joe (Main Speaker)
I can't believe you did this.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Hey, man, it used to be. It used to be so lovely back in the day, when I'm speaking like 020304. Well, you could just pull up to the plane, jump right on.
Joe (Main Speaker)
They ain't.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
They ain't check you with security. They ain't. Man, it was boom. The bus stop right in front of the plane. You hop right on, you could be having. You can wear whatever you want to wear, bro. Damn, this.
Joe (Main Speaker)
I like it now. I mean, I like to see. You know, I like to see the guys dressed up. I like to see the guys coming down. Now. It's a fashion show now. You. They in Paris. Everybody coming to the plane, everybody going to the arena.
Georgia from My Favorite Murder
And.
Joe (Main Speaker)
And you talk about football, basketball, the wnba. Everybody is a part of this now. Yeah, I like it. I. You know, look, you're a professional. You're a professional. It's okay to be professional. Look, I ain't saying you spend a zillion dollars, but I'm saying you could have. You could have a nice life outfit. Going to the Jean.
Ocho (Speaker)
Yeah.
Joe (Main Speaker)
I mean, go. Excuse me. Coming to the game. And look, some guys gonna still wear the Ant Man. Ant man don't care. Ant man coming with sweatsuits in his. In his. In his Ant man twos. So y' all about. Forget that.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah, I like.
Joe (Main Speaker)
I like Shay and Russ and LeBron and all them guys coming wearing that stuff. I like to see Chase and Jetta and all those guys. Joe Bur and all these guys coming to the game. I love seeing the wnba. I love Angel Reese coming to the game and Cameron Brink and.
Ocho (Speaker)
And.
Joe (Main Speaker)
And be all those young ladies coming in your style show. Hey, show your personality.
Ocho (Speaker)
Express yourself. I like.
Onplus Nicotine Pouches Announcer
Yes.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Yes.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah. Hey, hey, they got they clothes laid out like day before school.
Joe (Main Speaker)
On it, man. And the women. Hey, them long leg, they be stepping too bottle height. You ain't step. They'd be wearing heels. Come on with it, then.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Hello. You right. You're right, you're right.
Ocho (Speaker)
Yeah. Them boys everywhere, Ocho.
Joe (Main Speaker)
We. We got out, Ocho. We ain't really. I mean, you know, I came okay, you know, had me little Gucci boots here and there. You know, had the tim, you know.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah, yeah.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Oh, you best believe. Oh, shavey. I'll be stepping right now, though.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah. Hey, Ocho, I know you'll be cutting up right now.
Ocho (Speaker)
Yeah, probably so. Probably so. Because back back then, I was playing a joke. Sometime with the receivers, we. We would. As a group, we were. We would wear suits. If we say we coming in suits, we'll wear suits. And outside of that, Joe. I had my dickies on, Joe.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah.
Ocho (Speaker)
The green pair, gray pair, a black pair.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Oh, yeah.
Ocho (Speaker)
I kept it simple, Joe.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah. Yeah.
Joe (Main Speaker)
But I, you know, look, I. I'm a big guy. I like seeing professional, you know, professionals be professionals, man. You should.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah, bro.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Stop it. Then people tell you they want you to wear a collar shirt to work. You gonna show up with a college shirt shirt?
Ocho (Speaker)
Yeah, absolutely.
Joe (Main Speaker)
I don't know why people want to buck the system. If you don't want to wear that on, you get your own business. And you get to come like Zuckerberg with flip flops and shorts. That's what you want to do. That's the. That's the quickest way to have your own dress code is to own your own business.
Ocho (Speaker)
Oh, yeah.
Joe (Main Speaker)
And then you have to come as you want to.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yep.
Joe (Main Speaker)
But when somebody else tell you this is how they want you to dress on the job, they say, cash, whatever the case may be, you got to wear khakis or whatever else. You know what? I might have. You know what? Sh.
Pets Best Insurance Announcer
Sh.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Be. We about to have a dress code.
Starbucks Tropical Butterfly Refresher Announcer
What?
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
All right. Bet.
Ocho (Speaker)
Oh, okay.
Joe (Main Speaker)

Yeah. Yeah, I like it.

The next segment is presented by Netflix. Make sure y' all check out little brother June 26th. That's my birthday. Only on Netflix. Being a little brother myself, there's a few things that's important. You look, Ocho, you. You older than Chauncey. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You're the big brother. And Joe, you don't have any siblings, so I guess I'm the only little. Y' all my little brother now. But it's three.
Ocho (Speaker)
It's three of us now.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Oh, you got. You. You had. I thought it was just Chauncey.
Ocho (Speaker)
Nah, nah. Me, Chauncey, and, you know, my pop. Pop was Rolling Stone. I got my brother, my brother, and my sister Sam. My brother Sam.
Joe (Main Speaker)
They old. They younger than you.
Ocho (Speaker)
Nah, Sam. Sam a little older than me. Sam got me by about two years.
Joe (Main Speaker)
So you older. So you are a little younger. A little brother.
Ocho (Speaker)
Yeah, I'm in the middle. I'm in the middle.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Hey, hey, if that's the case, you know, I got two sisters on my dad's side, Tamika and Ashley. Tamika older than me.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Okay.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah, she just. She actually just turned 50.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Okay. Yeah, man, look.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Growing up, it was just like, my sister's eight years older than me. She's five years older than my brother. So by the time I got of any age, my sister was dating. So it was basically me. Me and. Me and my brother, and we did everything together. We were close. Now, don't get me wrong now, we were close, but we fought like cats and dogs.
Redfin Announcer
As soon.
Joe (Main Speaker)
As soon as Brady and Papa leave, I'm trying. Yeah, I'm trying to bust him over. I'm trying to hit him as hard as God will let me with a stick. Hey, I ain't gonna tell you. He'll tell you.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
I don't got.
Joe (Main Speaker)
I got cut wounds and pig fork picks and ice. Oh, Yeah, I tried to get him. Oh, yeah?
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah. What's. Hey, hey, what's up with that, man? I got cousins, man, who used to fight like. Like they ain't even know each other.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Yes.
Ocho (Speaker)
I ain't never fought with my brothers.
Joe (Main Speaker)
You lying to me. I try to fight. I used to try to fight Libby, too. I picked that broom up and bustle upside the head quick, bad. Please.
Ocho (Speaker)
Wait, how old were you then, huh? Like, when y' all used to go at it, you had to be, like, young. Real, real young.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Until my brother. Until my brother got to, like, a senior in high school. Probably. I. Probably. He was probably a junior, and I was in the. In the eighth grade.
Ocho (Speaker)
Okay.
Joe (Main Speaker)
But I was still. My sister showed probably when Tell. She probably till she got about 20. Hey, I tussle with my aunts, too.
Ocho (Speaker)
With your aunt?
Joe (Main Speaker)
What, bad? Please.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Uncle was a little delinquent, wasn't it, man?
Ocho (Speaker)
Uncle. Uncle going through it, right? I ain't never had enough, Joe. You had. You had a fight. You got. You got your. You had a fight with your brother or sister? You ain't had no brothers, huh?
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Nah, but I used to. You know, I didn't see my cousins fight my uncles. Now, if that was. Yeah, I've seen that. Yeah, yeah. Fist fight, like, out in the yard, like. Like, two dudes who don't even know each other. Damn.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Yeah. Hey, man, one babe. I hit my aunt one time, man. She throw me down and held me down the ant bed in ambient.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Oh, man.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Man, they tore me up, Joe Cho. But now my brother. Look, we fought like that, Joe and Ocho, but couldn't nobody else bother me. But my sister is crap now, so, you know, like, when I first started going to school, my aunts were still in school and my sister, So I was. My sister's eight years older than me, so by the time I'm in the fourth grade, my sister's a senior, my brother's in seventh grade, so, like, kindergarten, first grade. I. I still got aunts and still in school, right? So, you know, we said, See, back then, it was different. The white side at the back of the bus. We sat at the front of the bus. And so I'd have a seat by myself. Like, Gladys, and Gladys and Marinell would sit together. Jane and she would sit together, and Libby and Spanky would sit together. O' Shea had a seat by herself. I be laid down. Can I sit with you? Keep it moving, keep it moving. But now my brother look. And everybody know the story, how hard we had it coming up yeah. But this is when I knew my brother like loved me. And there was a different kind cuz my brother never told me he love me. One Saturday morning, guys, we got down there, you know, and. And Granny didn't have no money that week, so. Hey, she wasn't able to get no milk on Friday, so we only had enough. I only had milk for one bowl of cereal and my brother got down there first. My brother ate the cereal, but he didn't drink the milk. So I was able to come down, pour the corn flakes on that and, and have cereal also.
Ocho (Speaker)
Yeah.
Joe (Main Speaker)
That's when it really dawned on me that my brother loved me.
Ocho (Speaker)
Yes.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah.
Joe (Main Speaker)
And we were like I said we were close and, and we didn't really talk about. I mean we didn't really talk. We talked a little bit about girls, but it was always and always centered around, man, football. Man, what you gonna do when you get older? Man, I just wanna, I just wanna. Man, I want a house with some running water. I want a house that they have air conditioned. I ain't know nothing about no central heating and cooling. I just thought I. All the air condition was like those window units because that's what we saw. The window units we saw had those in school. Everybody I knew that had an air conditioner. It was no central heating, cooler. You had a window unit.
Ocho (Speaker)
Right.
Joe (Main Speaker)
And so absolutely, that's what, that's what I want to get Granny, you know, a house that, you know, didn't have to, we didn't have to drink well water. My great grandma had one of those prime pumps like you see old little house in the Perry. Yeah, you pour the water down there and private. Yes, yes. And the water come up from the bottom, man. Oh yeah. Oh yeah, Joe. And so that's. And me and my brother, like, we like, we were really, really close, but we fought like Cass and Hey, man, look here, Joe, I'm telling you, boy. But I wouldn't, I wouldn't change it. I wouldn't change anything about. I wouldn't change anything about my upbringing because that kind of, that, that, that made me who I am. That made me more appreciative of who I am. And to have a brother like that, um, we looked out for one another. If I had, he had. If he had, I had. And that's how we are today. And I remember like when I got, when it. He got drafted, he was the first pick in the, the seventh pick in the first round in 88. And he was off. He like. And I remember when I got Drafted, because back then the draft, the draft started on, on Sunday. So the draft was Sunday and he goes into Monday. And I remember him when I didn't get drafted that Sunday night, he came and said, man, we gonna be good. He said, man, we gonna be great. Cause that was the first year he had, first team all Pro, made the Pro bowl, led the league in receiving. So like, hey, bro, I'm about to sign this new contract. Hey, we straight. You ain't gotta worry about nothing. What's his Spank?
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
I just want a chance.
Joe (Main Speaker)
I just, I just, I just wanna. I said, man, them guys, man, the guys that they pick and spank, they not better than me. I saw em. I went to the Blue Gray game. I went to the East West Shrine game. Spank. I saw him at the combine. I, I said, spank, they not better than me. I said, all I need is a chance. He said, hey, bro, you gonna get your chair. But hey, if it don't work out, don't even worry about it. I got you, man. Please. It's gonna work out. It's gonna work out.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah, get your.
Joe (Main Speaker)
But. And the thing was, Joe, see, I, I. And my brother was three years older than me, so I got all this hand me down clothes. It was straight. And, you know, we had clothes. You know, you couldn't wear them. The clothes that you wore to school, you got to come up out of them. Oh, yeah, them play.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Play clothes.
Joe (Main Speaker)
You know what I'm saying?
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah, yeah.
Joe (Main Speaker)
So that's, that's how that was. And man, please, to, to.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah, take them good shoes off. Go put them play shoes on.
Ocho (Speaker)
Hey, I remember the. Hey, boy, Grandma ain't play about that, Joe.
Joe (Main Speaker)
But I would, I wouldn't trade anything for my brother because I'm who I am. He believed in me. I mean, every track, when track and field would come, he would come down, go to. We go to the state track. He'd get on the bus, ride the state track, track and field competition with us. He tell me, like, look, this is what we got to do. We got to save our legs. You know, you got the long jump, you got the triple jump. You got to throw the disc. You got to qualify for the relays, right? So we can't be expending a whole lot of energy. You got to end up. You got to end the triple jump. You got to end it on the first jump. So it's got to be the best job. So you got to be perfect. It was just, it's just stuff like that because like I said, he was more like a father. Because, like I said, my father died when I was. And I was 13. But I only saw him once to really know who I was looking at. My grandfather died when I was 8. So he was really the dominant male figure. And my grandfather had already told him what he needed to do if something ever happened to me. You make sure you take care of that boy. He's looking at everything you do. He's listening to everything you say. You make sure so that I was his responsibility. I was his responsibility. And he never talked back to Granny. You know me, I can't always say that.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Hey, you talked back to Granny, man.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Granny stays slapping my face.
Ocho (Speaker)
I was too scared to do that.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Boy, man, greatest days. But you know what? It was like? I was like. I would suck my teeth.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah.
Ocho (Speaker)
Hey, I give you something.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Damn, they ain't playing. Don't play that. Yeah, I don't play that.
Joe (Main Speaker)
You know, I don't know what, like, when you're a kid, you don't realize how close to somebody far away from you. So I beat her, Daddy. She beat us up.
Ocho (Speaker)
Wow. Hey, Grandma.
Starbucks Tropical Butterfly Refresher Announcer
Hey.
Ocho (Speaker)
Hey, Joe. Hey, Grandma hit you quick, but you got something stuck in your teeth.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Right, right, right.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Man, you don't know how many times, man, I can't wait to get grown. I can't wait to get grown. Imma leave. I ain't never coming back. You can leave right now if you want to.
Ocho (Speaker)
Bought him some good. Some good days, bro.
Joe (Main Speaker)
Hey, man. And then, you know, and then one day, I don't know what it was on y'. All. I don't know why, man, look here. I done cut him. He done cut me. I done stuck him in the leg with the pick fork. He took the pig fork out, stick me back in the leg with it. Man, we done did all kind of stuff. I done bust him upside the head. He bust me back upside the head. And guess what, Joe. We right back outside playing tomorrow. Yeah, you better hurt that boy.
Joe (Another Speaker, possibly Joe's friend)
Yeah,
Joe (Main Speaker)
but it. Take it, take it. Like I said, my grandma used to say, every time my brother would do something to make me make me cry, she'd say, son, they take all that to make a man. Nah, beat him. I'm telling you this because I want you to beat him. I ain't trying to be no man right now.
Ocho (Speaker)
Beat him.
Joe (Main Speaker)
