We gotta get into the shocking turn of events involving Max Crosby Ocho Raiders broke the news that the trade had sending Max Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens for two first round draft picks had been rescinded. Raiders alleged in a statement that the Ravens had backed out of the agreement reached four days earlier. It was then reported that medical concerns arose during Cosby's physical and were a catalyst for the dissolution of the deal. Ravens GM Eric DeCosta said today, Nobody is more upset than him gutted by it actually. Big regret for me, but we will move forward as a football team. DaCosta added that losing Senator Tyler Lindenbaum to the Raiders, the Ravens began envisioning a possibility of pairing Crosby with Henderson, excuse me, with Hendrix, whom the team signed today. But Crosby's medical outlook prevented the possibility from materializing. Jane Slater reported that the Ravens considered renegotiating the Crosby trade to account for the team's discomfort with the edge rushes prognosis. Ultimately, however, the team opted to withdraw from the deal entirely. Ocho, we don't normally see this now. The Ravens have been in a situation where, if I remember correctly, the Brock Marion, they really liked him, but they had a Yoda issue. Michael Brockers had a knee issue and they rescinded. They rescinded the the deal that was on the table. But you're talking about a Max Crosby. He did have a meniscus injury. Reports are that he had been dealing with this all year. This happened and started bothering me in the off season. He played through it. He ended up having surgery and the type of surgery that he has, that's somewhere between a three and a six month month recovery time. And I don't know if it's a lateral meniscus or medial meniscus, but that is a long because he had it torn and I guess he had it repaired. If what the reports are true. That is a lot. That's a big timetable. But that puts him on to be recovered probably around June. Ocho training camp starts about six weeks later in late July. So who knows? Like I said, could be early June, could be late June, but still he would have three weeks and I'm almost sure he'd be a limited participant and you kind of build him up to get him ready to go come September. When you heard that the trade for Max Crosby had been rescinded, what did you think? And you like, okay, what's going on?

[Ocho]

I've never seen anything like that. I've never seen anything like that. Especially a player like Matt Crosby. That's impact player that makes your, your team exponentially better right away. Just his presence alone and the fact that it rescinded. I didn't know what was going on. The first thing that. That dawned on me, well, maybe he failed his physical. Obviously that that's the only thing I could think of because I know a player, a player himself wouldn't say, you know what, I don't want to be here. And he lets the team knows. He doesn't. He. He rather wishes not to. Not to be here. But once that did happen, I thought about it. Well, understanding that they knew he had a knee issue. He. They knew about knee surgery. Knew about the knee surgery. I mean, I'm confused. What did you expect the physical to look like? Obviously he's in rehab. Obviously he's recovering. He would probably be ready in time for football season to play. And the fact that he played on it and had 10 plus sacks or maybe 10 sacks this season and he was forced to sit out the last, the last two games of the season, I think he would be okay. He would recover. So I'm confused on why they chose to do this, why they chose, you know, to rescind. To rescind him. Him being there. It makes no sense to me. And I like the fact that they were going to try to pair Hendrickson and Crosby together. Hell, that they would have been hell on wheels if they were able to pull that off.

Yeah, I think if you really look at it, Henderson might be a better pure pass rusher, but overall, I think because Crosby plays the run so much better than Hendrickson, I, I think he gives them a dynamic and you know, you got to have somebody that can set the edge and Max Crosby can set the edge, but he could also become very disruptive. Pressure your quarterback and get to your quarterback. Hendrickson, we've seen over the last couple of years in which he wasn't injured. You see the numbers that he's put up. He is a pure pass rusher. Drafted by the New Orleans Saints and ended up going to became a free agency and goes to Cincinnati and played extremely well. Reports are that he probably took a little less money to go to Baltimore, but I think there were some hard feelings. He was like, you had years to get this done. Now all of a sudden you want me because I could potentially be going to a division rival. Ocho, look, I agree with you at Everything that you said, they knew he had surgery. And maybe you looking at it because you looking at it long term because you got Max cross, but I think you owe him one hundred and something million dollars on that contract. Now, if I'm not mistaken, I could be wrong in chat. Forgive me if I'm misspeaking. I think this is the only year in which he's had, he has guaranteed money on the contract. So now I'm looking at no Joe, and he's only 29. Okay, yes, he had, he had surgery on the knee, but what doctors can see is that what you, to the naked, untrained eye, can't see is degeneration. Now, it looks good this year, but what happens next year? And as we move on. Now you're talking about somebody that dealing with degeneration in the knee. Did you. So I got a very arthritic right knee, same thing with the left knee. And I got basically bone on bone on the lateral side, which is the outside. And I'm damn near bone on bone on the inside, which is the medial meniscus. And what has happened, as I've gotten older, stuff start to happen. This is what. And you see it with a lot of old people that didn't play sports get older and cartilage starts to dissipate and you get that bone on bone. I'm fortunate enough to be in a situation where I can afford, you know, great medical care and I don't have all this hang ups. I can go, okay, what's going on now? Insurance company wouldn't take care of whatever I had going on, so I had to pay for my own mri, no problem. And then I go to one doctor, he says, okay, you can do X, Y and Z. I go, come to the doctor out here. I'm at curling job and go to the doctor that did my hips. And he looks at him like, well, she had to. Let me explain it to you. It's an X, Y and Z, so forth, the song. But you know, you got degeneration, degenerative needs, and, and eventually, hey, I'm not telling you anything that you didn't already know. You're going to have to have knee replacement. If not one, probably both of your knees. But the right knee that I'm looking at now, you don't have to. So I think that's what the Ravens doctors are looking at. That. Okay, yeah, this healing up properly. But we see some degeneration in this knee and that's never good because, you know, to be on the hook for A knee that could be just me speculating. I haven't talked to anybody, but I'm sitting as a doctor you probably look at as Ravens. Like, hold on now. In order for this to make sense to us. Oo because you got to realize what we giving up. We giving up the number 14 pick this year and who knows what that pick. You hope that if we, if the trade would have gone through, we somewhere 32, ideally be 32. If we give up the 32 pick next year. You know what that mean? Oo we won the Super Bowl. Most definitely 31. That means we were in the Super Bowl.

Honestly.

29, 30. 29, 30. Ocho winning the championship.

I'm thinking about. You think about a player that's 29 years old. 29 years old.

[Joe]

Yeah.

[Ocho]

A player like Matt Crosby, that's a disruptor. He's been in the NFL for a few years and if you give, if you take an MRI, if you do an MI of all the players that have eight, nine or 10, 10 years or more, I'm sure there's something alarming on everybody's mri. If you look at it, it always is. Nobody is 100% healthy. Everyone has issues, whatever it may be. I just know the macro that we saw that was on the, with the Las Vegas Raiders was an impact player and he made a difference every time he was out there. Even doing a losing effort, he was still a disruptor. He still was able to set the edge. He was still able to disrupt, disrupt the pass depending on who they were playing. It really didn't matter. No one can stop him. You could only hope to contain a player like Max. So to let him go because of what you see, you know, in an mri, when he was already hurt last year and he's recovering, he has rehab and you doctors have the resources to get him as healthy as possible. And you know what you get with a almost healthy or even 90 or 95 Max Crosby and you let him go and, and understanding what he can do for your team and making your team exponentially better, you know, especially if you pair him with Henderson. I'm like, I, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't see. Listen, it's a business decision on their part. I just understand, as great as he is, even with a, a messed up knee, where he's going to recover, where he's going to rehab, there's no way I, I sit him back and it, but obviously I. Listen, I don't own, I don't own the goddamn Ravens. It ain't my decision.

And you ain't got 100 plus billion dollars. But, but here's the thing, Ocho. What if I told you you can get a very similar player. Hold up. And this is what they do, Ocho. What if I told you I could get you a similar house for about six to seven million dollars cheaper. The payments will be cheaper. Monthly, pretty much the same house, maybe a 500 square foot difference. But I'm it. But, but it's going to be probably over the course of it, I probably say you're about $28 million, but I'm gonna get you a very similar house right there. A two acre lot, nice size infinity pool, probably about 12, 000 square feet, seven baths, full baths, you know, two half baths, you know, eight bedrooms, gorgeous. A theater. If I told you I can get you a similar house to the one that you really love, but I'm gonna save you $28 million, would you be interested? And, and, and you're not gonna have to give up those two first round picks. Would you? Could I?

You could, you could, you could. But I'm, I'm. I'm in the now right now. I'm in the now. I'm not, I'm not worried about down, down the road. I'm trying to. If I'm playing poker, I'm putting all my cars on the table. I'm putting all the cars on the table and I'm trusting my, I'm trusting my doctors to an extent. Because I want Max here.

I want Max Crosby here. We got. Goddamn. We got Trey Henderson in the building. We're negotiating his contract. We have Max in the building. I'm taking all my cards and I'm putting on the table, I'm out. I'm out.

But here's the thing.

I, I'm not taking a gamble with two first round picks. If I can get them at a lower rate, I would, I can. You talk about. I'm not taking.

You talk about two first round picks, you don't know what you're getting. There's no, there's no telling those two first round picks that come in to make any goddamn difference.

But what if his knee doesn't hold up this year? What if that knee is bad and then I'm stuck? What if that knee is like Dante Culpepper's knee? Then what do I do?

We're not talking about Dante Copeland. We talk about Max Crosby, the one that played all season.

You gotta base it on the medicals,

Ocho, he was hurt all season long. He gave you 10 sacks. What are we talking about?

They made him sit out the last two games.

If you go back and look at it, look at the numbers. Trey Henderson vs Max Crosby, 2019 to where they are now. Who has more sacks? Who has a high pressure rate?

I don't have nothing in front of me.

And I can get Trey Hendrickson. I can get Trey Hendrickson for about five to seven million dollars a year cheaper. And I don't have to give up ish. So I can get oo. I can get you in this house, and you don't have to put a down payment.

I understand what you're saying, but. I understand what you're saying, but I'm looking at it. I'm looking at it from a different standpoint. As a team, as an organization, as a team at an organization that continues to miss in the first round, as a team, in the organization that was horrible on defense last year, especially at the beginning of the season, how our. How bad our backing is or was, you know, constantly getting beat. How can I make a difference? I'm. I'm gambling. This is. This is what. This is what it's all about.

Trey Henderson. You make it seem like Trey Henderson is a bum. The man had 35 sacks.

[Ocho]

I'm not calling him a bum. You know I wouldn't do that. I'm just saying he had two.

But I'm saying you. I'm not saying you are, but I'm saying you making it seem like Max Crosby is just exponentially. Hold on. This is not a Miles Garrett situation. If you're talking about Miles Garrett. Okay, we have a conversation because that's a two time defensive player of the year and a guy that has like 121 sacks in, like eight.

But you mean to tell. You mean to tell me I get. I get the best of both worlds? I get the best of both worlds. Now, on. On one hand, I have a player who's injured, who just had surgery, but I understand what I get based off the small sample size of how I've seen him in Las Vegas and what he's done on an injured knee. I'm trusting the prop. Trust in the process. I'm trusting the doctors. I'm trusting rehab, you.

Chance to trust who? Doctor? So why do you have the. Why do you have those Doctors on payroll, if you're not going to trust them to properly evaluate players that are coming in that you're going to have to spend a hundred plus million dollars and give up. First round pick this year, which is number 14 and next year's fourth rounder, first rounder, I can understand. If it's 32, no problem. That means we won the Super Bowl. But, but, and I get it, Drew Brees had a very simple situation. Miami Dolphins flunked his shoulder on the physical. He goes to New Orleans and we see what happened.

Now the same thing could happen and same thing it could, same thing could happen. You know what? And for them causing this mess, this is what I'm hoping. This is what I'm hoping. If max Crosby was 100% healthy, Ocho, he had no surgeries. I, I, I, I, I think two, I think two ones is fine, but coming off the surgery, I'm a little more apprehensive than I would be had he not been coming off that surgery. I know sometimes you gotta roll, you gotta roll the dice. New Orleans was willing to roll the dice, but here's the, the difference is with Drew Brees, Drew Brees didn't cost you any compensation. And basically it was a deal worth $10 million. Yeah, we're talking about a deal worth north of a hundred million in two first round picks.

Maybe he has a different energy about himself and Stefanski carries himself in a much different way than Monkin does. And so therefore you will get different reactions when you have a coach that's somewhat mild mannered, someone, someone that's even keel as. As he said, someone who's not. Not very, very jubilant about the way about their coaching style. And maybe Todd Monkin is just different. So for him it's refreshing because it's something that he's not used to being, that he's just getting into the NFL and that's all he's known so far during his short NFL career is what he saw from Stefanskin. Now you get Todd Monkin, who's completely different approach, a different way of doing things. So to him that is refreshing.

get who they did. Dax contract, they restructured Dak, they restructured a cd. They did restructured Tyler Smith, they did something with Terrence Steele. So they, they got, they got a little money to play with. I don't know if they're going to do something with Deron Bland probably if they rework those contract over Diggy Zooa, right. Quinnie Williams and Kenny Clark probably give them some more money to play with because you know, you just kick the can down the road. You know, you tear the contract up, add voidable years and you know, I'm saying and give them the signing bonus Ojo. So I think that's what it's going to do. Yeah, I, I think the thing for me is that they give up a fourth round draft pick, pay the guy 19 and a half million dollars this year, he has 20, 22 and a half million next year, but it's not guaranteed. So it's going to be very. But you know, we're not surprised that we see this kind of movement. We normally see this movement the first two days. Mike Evans is leaving Tampa Bay. He's heading to the bay to join Kyle Shanahan and Brock Purdy. Mike will have a new home for the first time in his NFL career as he chases his second Super Bowl. He's signing a three year contract with the 49ers. Until injuries derailed his 2025 campaign, Evans had a streak of 11 straight seasons of at least 1,000 receiving yards. He tied Jerry Rice for the longest in NFL history. His was to begin the career. Jerry has his from 90. He had his from 96 to. From 86 to 96. 108 total touchdown ranks 10th all time, six most with one franchise. He amassed 368 yards in eight games last season. If he's still the same player, he has the potential to be really, really good for Kyle Shanahan because we know what Kyle can do in that offense. Playmakers such as Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, we'll see. Coming back from an Achilles injury, Ocho. Yeah. Gonna have to be. He's gonna have to take another step. He's gonna have to take another step. Ojo Juwan is a free agent. Kendrick Bourne, if I'm not mistaken. I think I saw him before I came on tonight. Signed with Arizona on a nice deal. What is goddamn Mike Evans. He's a playmaker. And he showed you in a long stretch of 11 seasons of having a thousand yards. Now, it's unfortunate, I tweeted dolphins, we got Malik Willis. Let's get Mike Evans. Because I understand we needed down here in Miami another playmaker, right? And lo and behold, shortly after that, he signed with the 49ers. And I'm not even mad about it because I understand, oh, my goodness. You putting Mike Evans in that system like that, with the creativity and the office of prowess that Kyle Shanahan has when it comes to officer play calling and putting players in position to make plays, man, hell, Mike Evans might go for a thousand, maybe fifteen hundred, I think.

The thing is, Ocho, and you saw this the last couple of years, the injury started to creep up. And as they started to creep up, they started to keep you out a little longer. You see, remember he had a hamstring and he was able to come back to keep that thousand catch season alive. And then this year it came. And then all of a sudden, he couldn't fight it off. He couldn't come back. So I think that was a little concern because Tam has lost a couple of guys. There are a couple of guys that are leaving Tampa and moving on. But when you. When you look at it, I Think obviously, IUK isn't coming back. Kendrick Bourne is at a new location. There's a free agent. George Kittle is coming off a very serious injury, and he. How old is killer? 32, 33. He's 32 years old, coming off an Achilles injury. We'll see how soon he can get back. Yeah, because if you think about it, ocho, Jason Tatum, 10 months. Okay. Kill the Tory of the kids in January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November. 10 months. I'll be November. Yeah, that's if he comes 10. But now he. Could he come back at 9 and make it October? Could he come back in 8, make it September?

Probably pushing it. But hey, got you. As a professional athlete, sometimes you have to protect us from us, but we'll see how that, how that plays out. But they needed a receiver.

But anyway, yeah, I think the thing is the. The whole thing is that, man, as you start to age and you start to get nicked it. I don't know what it is Ocho is like. It seems like the injuries happen with greater frequency as we start to age and we start to get injured in our older age, in our latter years, we start getting nicked in year 10, year 11, year 12. Man, it's hard. The body just doesn't recover like it once did. It's tough.

Well, you know, I can tell. I can tell you Something, you know, for, for, for someone who has never been injured. Oh, glory be to God. Because of that. I, I, I, I don't know what it is, especially what it is with players when they get up in age. And I'm assuming maybe it's wear and tear on the body from the, the rigorous workouts and, and what they've done over the years. And I, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't know a factor, I don't know what you can factor into it as to why it always happens. The funny thing about the nature of the beast when it comes to playing this game. Injuries are inevitable. They're going to happen, and you want to minimize them the best way you can, whether it be through nutrition, whether

it be through preventative measure, you know, your cold tub, your hot tub, your exercise therapy. Yeah, yes, yes.

Taking care of your body. But the one thing about it is some just aren't lucky. And it just happens. It just happens. Even when you prevent, you take all the proper measurements to make sure you don't get hurt. It just happens.

[Joe]

So Evan's agent isn't stressed about. It was stressed. It wasn't about money. The Buccaneers were extremely aggressive in their pursuit pursuit and presented a very strong offer offer demonstrating how much they value him and everything he meant to the franchise. In the end, the decision came down to Mike wanting a new challenge and a fresh opportunity while still he feels he has a great deal left in his game. Ocho, what does this say? I mean, he's been, he's been, he had opportunity to leave elsewhere and he stayed. Now, you do realize Tampa, Florida doesn't have state taxes. California got the highest state taxes in the state in the United States. So for him to say, basically I'm, basically no matter what, if the numbers are even, I'm taking less money because they're going to take more time. They're going to take 13, 14 of your money.

So if you making 5 million, you making $5 million, they're taking 750 off the rip, let alone the cost of living and what it costs to live in San Jose or whatever the case may to be. Yeah, so what, what, what, what's going on with Mike? Why, why do you think he wanted to change the scene? Why do you think he wanted a fresh start considering he had spent so many years in Tampa?

In, in Tampa? I don't, I don't think, I don't think the numbers were correct. I don't think if, if it was enough, if it, if it's the numbers, what, what they should have been, I think it would have stayed in Tampa, obviously. I think the 49ers offered him more and he understood the situation and going to the 49ers. Well, hold on. This is the situation where I can be that guy again.

You know, they throw the ball in volume. You know, I'm, I'm going to catch a lot of pass, I'm going to score a lot of touchdowns and continue, continue to build on my legacy going through Mike Shanahan's offense. I understand that they have a, a good quarterback in Brock Purdy, so he understands that George Kittle's not going to be out again. They're going to need me. I might be able to double, maybe even triple what I can do at the receiver position, you know, in the usage rate in which, in which they're going to use me. So I think the Bucks are probably moving forward in having Ubuka be that number one receiver and having that complimentary, that complimentary piece and Godwin, you know, follow right behind him as the number two. Outside of that, I think the writing was on the wall. And then moving on when Mike Evans got hurt and Ibuga started having that string of games, maybe three or four games, back to, back to back where he went crazy. And at that point, I think Mike, Mike made the right decision and moving on and continuing to, to build on, you know, on, on his legacy.

Yeah, I think at this price point, I don't, I don't, I mean, I don't think the numbers have been revealed yet, but I didn't see a scenario where they could pay. Getting in. Alex, the, Alex, the Pierce sweepstake. Wandell Robinson sweepstakes. So you see some of these guys that's getting the big money. I don't, you know, considering they got Purdy on that kind of money, they got Christian McCaffrey on that kind of money, they got Kiddo, who's the highest paid tight end at that kind of money. They got Bosa, they got Fred Warner, they got some guys, they got some big contracts on show. And so I, I, I just think the thing is, is that if, if, if Mike Evans still have some tread on the tire, I think I definitely think he can help this team. Now the question is, are they going to go, are they going to get, are they going to bring Jennings back? Because I thought he played well for him.

He did.

I thought he played extremely well. He did. Given the, the, the, the inconsistencies of what been in and out of lineup. Whether it was Purdy or, or Mac Jones playing Kittle being in and out of the lineup, obviously Iuk didn't play Pierce, Pierce, Pierce all being hurt for him to, to come in and play as well as he did. I thought he did a great job. So. But we'll see what Mike Evans have. I mean you believe he still has something. I don't know if he's going to be. Yeah, five, six years ago, Mike Evans, but if he can give him somewhere 800 to a thousand yards, you know, seven, eight times.

He getting way more than 1,000 in that offense. Yeah, absolutely. Okay, great run after catch. Yeah, yeah.

That's, that's your level of expertise as the wide receiver. So I'm gonna take your word for it. But you know, look he's. I think the thing is a plus with Jennings. Oo he's gonna want big money. He sees what all these other guys, I mean you see what these other guys are making. You don't want to be the guy to go out there all of a sudden.

And get like a, a, a three year, eighteen million dollar deal where you see guys getting I think wonder Robinson got what like 20 million a year and Alec appears got like you know, 20, 28, 29 million a year. You don't want to be the guy like damn bro, you a friend and that's all you got. So he's go.

I mean he gonna get, he gonna get his chance. He gonna get his chance. You gonna get, he gonna get a chance somewhere.

Yeah. Because I think he, he definitely, he definitely earned it. He played extremely well and he deserved that opportunity. So we'll see where he ends up going. But Mike Evans is going to the San Francisco 49ers.
