Hello, Happy Wednesday. Welcome into the show. This is scrolling with Haley. I'm Haley Karenia. Make sure that you subscribe to this show. Rumble.com Haley, of course, is where you can watch the show live every Monday through Friday at noon Eastern time. I know if you're in the chat right now and I'm seeing a lot of happy birthdays in the chat. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. I love, I love a surprise. I love a good surprise. Stinger, Quick message before we get going, we have a fun little birthday show for you, but I want you to of course subscribe to the show and support our sponsors. Today I want to tell you about Helix. I've been focusing a lot on improving my sleep lately and one of the best changes I've made is switching to the midnight luxe mattress from Helix. So now I'm sleeping more comfortably, waking up, feeling more rested, ready for the day, ready for my workouts. And one thing I really like is how easy Helix makes the whole process. They have a sleep quiz. You just answer a few questions about your sleep habits and they match you with a mattress designed specifically for your needs. I also added the cooling upgrade because we're in South Florida and it gets very hot and this helps us to stay comfortable during these hot summer months. You don't wake up feeling overheated. On top of that, Helix offers free shipping. The setup was simple. You get a 120 night sleep trial plus a limited lifetime warranty, making it very easy to try for yourself. And Helix has an exclusive offer for my listeners. Go to helix sleep.comhaley h a y l e y for 27% off site wide. That is helixsleep.comhaley h a y L e y for 27% off Site wide. Exclusive for my listeners. One last time, that is helix sleep.com Haley and let's put our phones on. Do not disturb. The show starts now. Someone in the chat said it's their birthday too. Happy birthday to you. Thank you so much to everyone in the chat. That's so nice. Yes. Today is my 32nd birthday and if you were watching the show on my birthday last year we did a very special. I made a challenge that I wanted to see representation from all 50 states in the chat and we got it done. We got so many people coming into the live chat from different states and even different countries. And we did it so quickly. I think in the first five minutes of the show we had everything. So we did that last year. I was like, we can't do that again. So we don't really have a challenge, but I sort of challenged myself for my 32nd birthday to come up with 32 life lessons that I've learned. Obviously I've learned a lot more than 32 things in my life, but I'm going with a theme here. So I would love to go through all of those lessons with you and then anyone that has a life lesson or a life hack in the chat, throw it in the chat. And I'll get to some of those as well. Number one, my first life lesson that I've learned is to go to God. Doesn't matter what the problem is if you're happy, if you're sad, go to God. Second one, give because you want to, not because you think you're going to get something in return. And I'm not talking about birthday gifts. I know this is like birthday themed. Um, I'm not even talking about tangible things, although this can be applied to that. But spending time with people who need it, being a shoulder to cry on, listening to friends, being there for the people in your life, that is a gift. And there are some seasons in your life where you may be showing up for people more often and then vice versa. It just switches. Don't be a doormat. But also, never feel sorry for pouring into the people that you love. Even if you find out that you did something kind for someone who might not have deserved it, it's never a loss. It might have been a lesson learned, but it's never a loss. Which brings me to number three, and that is breakups. Failed relationships are never a waste of time. I hear that, like I see this on TikTok all the time. People go through a breakup and they're like, oh, I wasted, you know, three years of my life or five years of my life. I don't think of relationships, failed relationships as a failure at all. I think despite feeling hurt, you've learned something about yourself and all of that and now you're better prepared to make new relationships and friendships in the future. So it's just sort of like a learning experience. That's how I see it. Fourth thing is to send thank you notes, handwritten ones to send flowers. Little gestures like that go a long way. Number five, in the same vein, never show up somewhere empty handed. We were just talking about this because Andrew and his lovely wife are throwing a little barbecue later and we're going to celebrate. And I just asked Andrew, what is your favorite gin? He won't tell me, so I'm going to have to text his Wife after the show. Anyway, I'm not going to show up empty handed, but I think if you're being fed, you're being taken care of. Even if you're going to see family, it's nice to bring something. A bottle of wine, a side dish, dessert, flour, something. Number six, it's not always about you. Sometimes it feels natural to say, like someone's venting to you and they're like, hey, I had like a really hard day at work. And then it's natural to feel like, I totally get what you mean. The same thing happened to me. Even if you do have a personal tie to the story, you don't need to share it. Number seven, admit when you're wrong. That one's a simple one. Number eight, admit when you don't know something. I wish more people did this. It's crazy to expect people to know everything. Nobody knows everything. And it's okay to say I don't know. So it's okay to say, I'll look into that and I'll comment on it when I'm read up on it. But you don't need to know everything. What am I up to? Number nine, I don't know why my numbers didn't get copied over. So I don't. I'm just going, did I say that was number eight?
B
I believe so.
A
You guys in the chat can let me know. Number nine, it's okay to not have a strong opinion on something. That last one sort of reminded me of this one. It's okay to go against the grain, but it's also okay to not really care. And you'll probably notice on this show there are certain things that I don't talk about and it's because I don't care. And why would I cover something that I don't care about? Right. Number 10, eat good food. Not processed food, good food. And if you meal prep, you'll be a lot less likely to spend money on takeout. I learned that. I think I gave up eating out at restaurants or takeout. I want to say when I was 23, I gave it up for Lent. And then it became a habit for me. I just did it for 40 days and I realized, oh, I don't really need to go spend money and have someone else make me lunch when I can make myself lunch. And it's, it's not difficult. You just have to spend a few hours on Sunday doing it and then you're done. You don't have to think about it. So it's actually easier. It's easier, and it saves you money. What am I at? Number 10?
B
Yes.
A
Okay, I'm really getting screwed up here. Number 10. Sometimes people come into your life for a season. They're not meant to be there forever. So cherish the time that you do have with them, but don't be hard on yourself if that time is cut short. Number 11. Move your body every single day. If you don't have time, make time. You've been given one body and one life, and this body is going to have to carry you until the end of that life. And the quality of it will depend on your health. So. So even if it's a walk, do it. Number 12. Move out of your hometown or move somewhere where you don't know anyone and figure it out. That is a lesson that I've learned in my life, and it was one of the hardest but most rewarding decisions I've ever made. And they've always come from moves that have forced me to grow. And if I stayed put, I probably wouldn't be growing. In that same vein, leave a job if you don't, if you're not learning, if you're not constantly learning or being challenged, there's maybe something better for you somewhere else. But I think we all get very comfortable, and there's something, you know, com. There's something comforting about being in a routine. But comfort isn't everything. 14. If you want to remember something, write it down. Don't just say it out loud. I know when people say there's like, a life hack, if you meet someone for the first time, you're shaking their hands and they say, hi, my name's Billy. You say, hi, Billy, because then you're more likely to remember it. I will forget every time. So if there is someone that I meet, I try to write it in a note on my phone, like a. A note app. I have a separate life lesson about that, but this one, you know, if you want to remember something, anything, write it down to the pen and paper. This one I learned in high school. This is, like, sort of a stupid story, but we. It was in my. My. I think I was in 10th grade. 10th grade biology. My entire class failed the test. Like, everyone bombed this test. And the teacher said, okay, we're going to retake this test because you all did so poorly on it. And you can all write down a note page. Like, you could basically come in with a cheat sheet. And then on the day of, we couldn't have the cheat sheet. But he said, watch how you remember everything, because you Wrote it down. And he said, I don't care how big the cheat sheet is. You can write it on a cardboard, you know, whatever that's called. What is that, like card stock or poster? Poster board, yeah. He was like, I don't care what you write it on. You could write down the whole textbook if you want. You can bring it in and let's see how you do on the test. And we didn't have our cheat sheets, and everyone did really well. So then that sort of changed how I stepped studied for the rest of college. Like, I wrote down my notes. Now every time I just. I. I use that to remember. So anyway, 15. 15. The 15th thing that I've learned in my life. No, I'm just kidding. I've learned a lot more things. But number 15, whenever I want to remember someone's name, I either make a new contact for them in my phone, even if I don't have their number, which, like a little note and a reminder. So these are people that you don't necessarily. You wouldn't have their cell phone number, but maybe it's a barista that you see all the time. Maybe it's someone at the front desk at, you know, your apartment complex or a gym or something like that. Like someone that you see all the time, but you wouldn't have their number, but you need to remember their name. I put it in a note app on my phone with a little reminder like, this is this person's name. And then if I ever find forget, I can go and type into my phone or my contact list, you know, the little note or the reminder, and then it comes up. So that has always helped me. Number 16. Tip well, make eye contact and say thank you to the people serving you. Number 17. Check in on people. Even if you think they're doing fine, sometimes they may not be. And it's best to not assume, but to make people in your life feel seen and loved. Number 18. Give back in one way or another. If you can't afford to donate money, donate your time. 19. A good attitude is contagious, and so is a bad one. So you can decide every day what kind of energy you want to be associated with you. Are we on 19 or 20?
B
We're on 20.
A
20. Okay. Let it roll off your back. You can let something eat you alive, or you can let it go. And it's. This is sometimes easier said than done, but I let things go when they're bothering me. Okay, do you guys know who Jay Shetty is? He's a podcaster Sometimes he posts these things on Instagram and they're videos of like a bunch of people in a park or something. And he puts little different captions on each person. Like someone just lost a baby, someone just lost their grandfather, someone just got a promotion, someone just, just. It's a good reminder. I'll try to find one of those videos and put it on my story later. It's such a good reminder that people are going through so many different things and you know the person who cut you off on the way to work might be having a worse day than you are and it's good to give them grace. People are going through things. Number 22. If you're feeling down, pray. It always helps me. I do find that anytime I pray the rosary, I start smiling ear to ear. It really is like a life hack to, if you want to feel happy, to pray. 23. The more you learn about yourself, the more you can achieve. I feel like if you know the kind of worker you are and you know where you need to improve, it's almost like self awareness. If you are. If you struggle with time management or you struggle with something, then you can find a system that works for you. Whether it's post it notes or reminders on your phone or color coded calendars. Like find a system for you even if you're a type B person that will help you keep you on track. Where am I at? 23. This is so horrible that this. These numbers didn't get copied over. 23. Seek help if you need it and don't be afraid to ask for it. 24. Find a creative outlet or hobby and make time for it. 25. Get outside every single day, even if it's just for a little bit. Even if it's cold out, even if. Even if it's hot out, breathe fresh air. 26. If you're. Is it 26 or 25?
B
24.
A
Oh. 24. Okay. If you're mad at someone, take a beat before confronting them. I'm not saying don't confront them, but I'm saying make sure you really mean what you say when you say it. 25. Make connections and also connect other people and pay it forward in the professional world and also in your personal life. I have made some of the best friends in my life through other friends and other people and I like to pay it forward in the connection department. If someone helps me introduce me to someone that I need, I try to connect them. I love networkers and connectors. They're great. 26. Okay. 26. Think of things you may need before you need them. Always think one step ahead. So whether it's a flashlight, always having a flashlight, batteries for the flashlight, having a pen on you, a piece of paper, a business card, try to have those things on you or in your drawer or in your car, somewhere accessible. Because you never know when you'll need it. And it's one of those things when you need it, when you can never find it. So it's good to always be prepared. 27. Write your goals down, because one day you will look back and realize that you're there. I actually wrote a letter to myself in 2022 that I would have a podcast of my own with my name on it. And now you're all, I'm sitting in this chair and you're all watching it. And isn't that amazing that I can look back and say there was a point in my life where I was praying for this and writing it down and hoping for it. And here it is. 28. It is not God's plan. Wait, I am wrong on the numbers. I think it's fine. This is the last one that I have. So this is 32. Yeah. Okay. Number 32. It is God's plan, not yours. I have had my whole life planned out for myself and it has never gone that way. And that is okay. So those are just some of the things. And honestly, I had no issues coming up with all of those. They were like, I was rattling them off yesterday.
B
It took me impressive.
A
It took me no time. And then one would like roll into the next. And I thought, oh, yeah, and that and that and that. And then there were other ones too, that I. I was like, oh, I didn't get to that one. But anyway, so that's it. These are the. Some of the life lessons. And that was fun. And let's get into the fun stuff, right? So I have some birthday themed videos that I want to go through. And then I have some of my favorite videos on the Internet. We have birthday themed. Am I the asshole? We have so many birthday things today. So this, this first video has gone viral. You guys are on social media. Probably not as much as I am, but a lot. You've seen this guy, he's become a meme. The kid. The kid itself in this video has become a meme because just watch this epic birthday. Crash out 3.
B
Happy birthday to you.
A
Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to Mary.
B
It's not your birthday, boys. Amarion's birthday. Oh, my God. Anyways. Is it good?
A
I love that. So I don't have any siblings, so I don't know what it was like to have to celebrate like myself or a sibling and not the other one. I could imagine that this is difficult for children. I feel like a lot of parents, they, like, give the other kids something to kind of get their mind off of. Like, this day is not all about you, but it is a good lesson. It's a good life lesson. It has to start early on that not everything is about you.
B
You know, it definitely. The first couple birthdays, it's.
A
It's tough.
B
Yeah.
A
You want. It's a.
B
You see the concept.
A
You see cake, and it's not for you.
B
What?
A
It's like, what. This isn't all about me. So anyway, this kid. Can we play it again? Look at this kid's reaction. And then I love. I actually love how the parents reacted. First, the mom's is like, oh, my gosh. And the dad's like, bye. He's like, get up out of the table.
B
Get out. His first offense.
A
Zaka is a badass kid. Happy birthday to you Happy birthday to
B
you Happy birthday to.
A
Happy birthday to me.
B
It's not your birthday, boys. Amarion's birthday. Oh, my God,
A
I love it. This next kid, he takes it a little better, but you could see the change in his face. He realizes, oh, everyone's singing. There's a cake, there's candles. Oh, and it's not for me. Watch. He's smiling through the pain.
B
Happy birthday.
A
Look, I'm smiling.
B
Happy birthday, dear Charlie Happy birthday to you.
A
Look at his face. He was like, oh, smiling. Smiling and crying at the same time. When they hear Happy birthday, Charlie, he's like, oh, wait, that's not me.
B
Dang it.
A
This is my favorite presidential birthday moment. And this is former president Joe Biden absolutely gripping the table with both hands, white knuckling the table as this inferno is ablaze in front of him. I. I think you get to a point where you get old enough where you can't fit that many candles on the cake because it could burn the whole house down. And Joe Biden's caption was, thanks for the birthday well wishes today, everyone. Turns out on your 146th birthday, you run out of space for candles, which is very funny. You know, everyone was joking at this that he was, like, way too old to be in office, which he was. And he's still kicking. But happy birthday, Joe.
B
We said this before. Who took this picture was like, nay.
A
Yeah, this is good.
B
Put it on the official Twitter.
A
Yes, exactly. It's so funny too, because would it have not? Why is he gripping the table? You think he's holding himself up?
B
It's like biblical.
A
He's, he's holding himself up.
B
It's like Shadrach and Abednego are in there burning up.
A
Someone in the chat said, thank God he didn't fart. The whole White House burned down again. Yeah. But he's holding on to the sides. Like, I think maybe he's a little afraid and he's smiling. I don't know. He's like crazy.
B
After you lit the first 20, at what point do you go, oh, this is probably too many.
A
Yeah, this is too many. Yeah. And then like all the fire starts, you know, it just starts growing and growing and growing. Someone said, did it burn the cake and melt the icing? Probably. And then there's also something very gross about people blowing on a birthday cake and then everyone eating it. Not to be a germaphobe, but just
B
across the room screams, okay, liberal.
A
I'm not saying. I'm just saying I agree.
B
You get a fake blow picture and then we take all the candles out and cut the cake. Yeah.
A
I mean, why? We don't need to be bl Especially.
B
And you all know that one kid in class who give us the yeah, get out.
A
Yeah. It's like, I don't need to be spraying all over this cake. And then we're all eating it. You know, it's just ridiculous. But as we get older, see this next woman, Flossy Dickie, she turned 110 years old. This was years ago. I'm assuming that she's passed on now. Otherwise we'd probably know about it. But they did. The whole local news did a piece on her and she certainly couldn't fit 110 candles on a cake. But she's not too happy about turning 110. Watch. Good morning.
B
Yes.
A
We are out here at the Cheney Care center and I am sitting next to to the woman on the front page of the Spokesman Review this morning. This is Flossy Dickey. And check it out, folks. We got her her very own Good Day Spokane coffee mug. She is enjoying some coffee this morning. Because, Flossy, you say you're a little tired this morning, Is that right?
B
I am tired.
A
She is very tired. That's actually I heard your favorite activity to do at the center here is to take. Take a little nap.
B
Take a nap.
A
Many times as I can. As many times as she can. She likes to take a nap. Later today, Flossy's Family is going to be coming out here to throw you a big birthday party. Are you excited for your party?
B
Not one bit.
A
Not one bit. She's not happy to be here. I think she was ready to go home. I think she was ready to go home. And honestly, I can't blame her. This last one that I have, this is a grandma who has decided to light her own cake on fire. And this is what happened after that. Watch. Shall we say happy Birthday first?
B
Sure. While you're burning. Well, I guess after we light it, it's more dramatic, right? We'll start seeing as you light it, Take the flame away until you pour it on there. Mom. Mom.
A
Oh. The baked Alaska became baked living room table. Someone had the bright idea to put the cake on the.
B
On the.
A
The guy at the end is like the. This is my family. You know, you can't choose your family. And he's thinking that in the moment.
B
The cat sprinting through the back.
A
The cat's running away. Like, I. I need to go find a new family. Yeah.
B
This is.
A
It's just funny to watch because they're all panicking in silence.
B
Happy birthday first. Sure.
A
Nobody sings happy birthday to you.
B
No. I guess after we light it, it's more dramatic, right?
A
More dramatic, Right.
B
Start singing as you light up. He says, do you know how to hold a lighter? Well, flame away.
A
Good question. The cup is flaming.
B
No.
A
Everyone's just panicking in silence.
B
Justin's never seen a baked Alaska. He goes, was this a prank?
A
Oh, no. I just googled it too, because I was like, that's a baked Alaska cake. And yeah. I mean, it's not supposed to set your whole house on fire if you haven't seen it before. If this is Justin, if this is your first time seeing a baked Alaska, they did it wrong.
B
So, you know, you're not actually supposed to use gasoline.
A
And then she, like, whoever took the flaming cake, because I think her hand was burning because she's holding the liquid and she's burning. The cup is burning. Then she puts it down on the tablecloth. The tablecloth is burning. Then the napkins are flaming and they're on the. On the ground. And then whoever is taking the burning cake off of the table put it on a chair, like a fabric covered chair. It's just crazy.
B
I mean, that is the hottest fire I've ever seen on a birthday cake. That flame was blue.
A
Yeah. Oh, yeah.
B
Bright blue.
A
And I love how no one. No one's saying happy birthday after that. It's like grandma's birthday's over. Sorry.
B
If it was my family. The amount of screaming and yelling at each. They were very. This is almost to a point where you wonder, has this happened before?
A
You're like, what. What is everyone's dose of Lexapro? Like, why is everyone so chill when there's everything is on fire? Very calm, though. They stay very calm. No one yelled at each other. You know, that guy in the end, he looked a little pissed off, but other than that, you know, everyone was just pretty manageable. Yeah. It makes you think, like, this maybe happened to them before.
B
Maybe next year we have a virgin birthday cake for grandma.
A
Yeah, yeah. No baked Alaska for. For grandma. But that video reminded me of this meme. And this is one of my favorite memes of all time. Watch. It's just iconic. I feel like everyone has seen this. Everyone has seen this on X before when a breaking news situation happens and then someone posts this and it's like cable news pundit racing to go to their home studios and talk about this. I don't know, maybe this is like a news thing, but I feel like I see this meme all the time
B
and I like, very. While we were in college.
A
Yeah, it was a few years ago. And that was from Neighborhood patrol. Neighborhood Patrol YouTube show. And it's just blown up. I feel like no one even knows about the YouTube show, but everyone has seen this meme. So I wanted to go into, on the same vein of my favorite memes, I wanted to go into my favorite videos of just my whole life on the Internet. These are like my favorite Internet videos that have gone viral. And first up, this is also for me, this is around college, but damn, Daniel. A lot of these are vines, by the way, and Rest in Peace Divine. I know Jack Dorsey killed Vine and then Elon Musk bought X from Jack Dorsey. So whoever's responsible for bringing vine back, and I know that I think Jack Dorsey tried to bring it back. I mean, like, in its former glory. It needs to be an app that people are using again and whoever's in charge now is just dropping the ball. Anyway, funniest videos ever. And now we have Tick Tock. I guess. But vine was. Vine was top tier Tick Tock kind
B
of was vine for a very short moment. And then they extended the video link. So Now I have 10 minutes of somebody giving me like a show and tell.
A
Yeah. So now it's different. But vine, it was only six or seven seconds.
B
Ten seconds or something.
A
Yeah. Did you make a Vine? Oh, yeah.
B
Whoa.
A
Oh, yeah.
B
I made one and it Was terrible.
A
Well, the thing is that you couldn't redo it. You had one go at it, and you had six seconds, and it was like, you have to be very creative in those six seconds. A lot of the vines are just. It hap. They happen to catch something funny when they had their phone out. It was very organic.
B
Yeah, it was.
A
Yeah. It's not like that anymore. Not like that anymore. Okay. Well, my first vine that I love is Damn Daniel.
B
Damn Daniel.
A
Damn Daniel. Damn Daniel.
B
Back at it again with the white man. Damn Daniel.
A
Dan. This was when I was in college.
B
Daniel.
A
This video went viral. And this was everyone's favorite vocal stem for a while. Damn Daniel. Back at it again with the white vans. Anyone that you knew that was named Daniel. It was like, Damn Daniel. Like, it was a. A phenomenon. It was a moment in time. And it even. I remember in college, they. There was an EDM remix of Damn Daniel that turned into a song. And. And we would pregame to that song. It's just a moment in time.
B
He went on Ellen. I distinctly. She gave him. And he did like a partnership with Van. That guy really fumbled. Unless he's really famous now.
A
I know. I don't know who that is.
B
But he. He kind of went viral before people knew what to do with it. Yep.
A
Yeah. Star wars fan in the chat said, what are those? Was a Vine too.
B
What are those?
A
What are those? Yeah, Just so many good little tidbits are from vine. The vine days. But this is YouTube. I think it was YouTube. And this was an iconic debate. One of the most iconic debates in history, but. Except it was about the wizard of Oz and whether or not Glinda the good witch was a princess or a witch. And this is how that debate went down.
B
Hold on. This is my favorite.
A
Hold on.
B
Her sister was a witch, right? And what was her sister? A princess? The witch Witch of the east, bro. I'm gonna stop him. You're gonna look at me and you're gonna tell me that I'm wrong. Am I wrong? She wore a crown and she came down in a ball game. I'm not fighting with you. Grow up. Grow up.
A
Get educated. I like ending the debate about whether or not Glinda the good witch is a princess is. Grow up, bro. Grow up, bro. I. You know, I love when people are passionate like that about anything. Doesn't matter what it is. When. When you have passion and you're ready to just freaking something so stupid. I love it. And I will say, just to settle the debate, I don't Think she was a princess. She was a good witch. That's why they called her Glinda the Good Witch.
B
Watch Wicked. Watch the lore. Come on.
A
I did watch Wicked, you know.
B
So you're 100, correct?
A
Yeah. That's what I mean. Yeah. She's a wicked witch. And when I was a former theater kid, because I'm a reformed and recovered theater kid, I did play Glinda the good witch in wizard of Oz.
B
So that checks to the nth degree. Yep.
A
Yep. All right. This is my next favorite one. This is very 4th of July coded, and I was gonna play it on my Fourth of July show, but I didn't. So we're gonna save this for this show. And this is Back it up, Terry.
B
Come two different ways.
A
Back up, back up, back up. Terry.
B
Put in reverse. Terry, put in reverse. Oh, lord, lord jesus. Oh, lord. Oh, jesus. What the. What you doing, terry?
A
Terry. Put in reverse terror. Oh, it's so good. I think people who set off fireworks. Justin told me that I was crazy for this. I don't think that. I don't like when people set off their own fireworks in the street, because that's where people blow their fingers off.
B
We pour tea in the Boston harbor for less.
A
There's an invisible take. Okay, I'm trying to save people's fingertips. That's all I'm saying.
B
I'm trying to save hospitals. Jobs. Yeah. Here's the deal.
A
Jobs, jobs, jobs.
B
You ever been to, like, a big fireworks emporium?
A
No.
B
Like on the side of a highway?
A
No.
B
In middle America?
A
No. Never been to one.
B
And they have things like the firework bazooka or the gator killer. The Roman candle.
A
No, I've never been to one. This is very Florida, man. I think. I think I'm too new to Florida.
B
You pull off the exit. You go in there, they're like, hey, we have a sale on the volcano imploder, and you buy seven of them, and then you blow a finger off. That's America.
A
Yes. No, it is your right to blow your finger off. I'm just saying I wish people wouldn't. You can celebrate our nation without doing that.
B
You can do it safely, too.
A
So 10 toes down, 10 fingers down. I celebrate this nation 100%.
B
Just light it.
A
Not nine way, not eight, 10. 10 toes, 10 fingers.
B
Just got to be careful. I have a very distinct memory of one of my high school friends. Dad's, like, kind of storing up fireworks. Stockpiling. Stockpiling. Like the leftovers for years. And the summer before we went to college, we lit them all in a church parking lot, and it was incredible.
A
I'm sure it was beautiful.
B
Hilly. Have you ever lit in a firework bigger than a sparkler or the snap rocks you throw at the ground?
A
Have I personally, no. Not bigger than a sparkler, no.
B
Yikes. It's usually too dry. In Florida. They usually put a ban on it. I feel.
A
Really?
B
What? At least maybe I'm thinking of like back home in Georgia. It gets so dry during the summer that they. They say, don't light them. One of my favorites is the top. You light on the side, it spins so fast it goes in the air and then it blows up like you got it. It's just a thing.
A
Next year, I just got to do it.
B
Yeah.
A
Got to rip the band aid off.
B
Go ruin all the old folks. I live by apparently a ton of fireworks.
A
Apparently, I'm not a patriot until I do it. So if I lose a finger in
B
the harbor for less, okay?
A
And God bless them. So this next one, this. I feel like I say this all the time. The charger is not charging me. IPad. I always say that. And this is what this video is. That's what this is from. Thanks a lot, you idiot. Thanks a lot, Rachel. Thanks a lot. Thanks to you. My charge is not charging on my iPad because it's got used to your. Your iPad instead of mine. It's not charging my iPad and it's all your fault. I hope you're happy because I've told mom. I hope you're happy. I've told mom. She means business. She means serious business. And there is absolutely no truth to a charger getting used to someone's iPad versus yours. But she believes it, and I believe that she believes it. I hope she got her. Her charger figured out. I wonder where she is now, Rachel and her iPad charger. Anyway, this next one, this is a classic one. This is a real, real classic one. This was from the archives. I don't know when. Yeah, this is a long time ago, but this was a I like turtles interview. Local news back here live at the Waterfront Village with my friend the zombie Jonathan. You're looking good, Jonathan. Just got an awesome face paint job. What do you think? I like turtles. All right, your great zombie and good times here at the Waterfront Village, open for the next 11.
B
That's iconic.
A
He's so cute. I like Toto's.
B
What?
A
What did she ask him? What was the question? How did you like him? At the Waterfront Village with my friend, the zombie Jonathan. You're looking good, Jonathan. Just got an awesome face paint job. What do you think? I like turtles. All right, your great zombie and good times here at the 1. What did you like of the face paint job, referring to the one on his face that is making him look like a zombie? I like Totals. Just. You can't beat it. You really can't beat it. This is.
B
That was a vocal stim. Before we knew what that was.
A
I was just gonna say this is autism at its best. Yeah. This is just. This is incredible. Just incredible. Okay. On that same vein, I think that news news bloopers are some of my favorite genre of video. So this is a. A compilation of some. Some good ones. Watch. Check your panties. About 175, 000 rice. I think that was supposed to be pantries. Here's some other great town names. Lats.
B
No, that's not. That's not right. No, it's linens. Linen. Thanks for joining us. I'm Kate Merrill.
A
I mean,
B
Love and pay more at
A
the grocer, but getting less will tell
B
you how to get the most the. Are you doing? We need to acknowledge an unfortunate mistake that I made.
A
Your pride flags and wear rainbow colors at Pago Bay tomorrow. Not so pale. You're on today. Snow is crippling much of the Washington low to say their final goodbyes to this fallen Louisville police officer. Dd Megadu. I'm sorry, man. Guys. Dee Dee megadoodoo is so bad. It's so.
B
For a memorial, that's tough.
A
It's so bad. You're like remembering someone's life and their service. Dee Dee megadoodoo. What did she say me? Dee Dee megadoodoo. And then she. What? Mangudu. Like what? How do you even get to that? Also the pride fags. One is top tier. It's just top tier.
B
You can't Freudian slip there.
A
Yep, a little bit. And this one just deserves. It's in a league of its own, in my opinion. This is my favorite news blooper of all time. And this is Chris P. Bacon.
B
Now to the story of a pig that is inspiring others. One pot, one pot. Belly Pig has certainly endured his share of problems. Chris P. Bacon was born without the use of his. You have to read this story. We cannot. Oh, my God.
A
I love how he's like, you guys gotta read this story. You should have read this story before going pre read.
B
Yeah.
A
It's so funny. I thought that that was great. I love when people just like, can't stop laughing and they're silent laughing. It's hilarious. I love it. We've had some moments like that on the show. Silent laughing. It's good.
B
Jim Rome takes on sports.
A
I will always have a complicated relationship
B
with this game, but people evolve.
A
So do sports. Do not make me regret this.
B
Do not make me devolve back to that guy that so many clones wish
A
that I still was. And do not embarrass the entire country. Now I can go back. I can get there fast. Lose tonight, and you got a real problem. Do not blow it.
B
The Jim Rome show podcast.
A
You've been warned. Follow and listen on your favorite platform. It's good. Speaking of, we've got some blind reactions. These are videos that I have not seen. And let's hit it.
B
All right. No, no theme. This.
A
No theme again.
B
We're just. We're freestyling.
A
I love it.
B
You ever turn in a dirt road down the dirt road? This song's for you. Driving a dirt road down a dirt road on a dirt road on a dirt road.
A
So if someone released this, it would. It would hit triple platinum. And. And I'm dead serious. You just need no one to really listens to the lyrics. You just need a dirt road. Red solo cup, hot girl, blue eyes, Whatever they sing about in country songs,
B
countries, just white people, R B. Yeah.
A
And I don't know what. What is he driving? That man.
B
He was on a dirt road on a dirt road.
A
Oh, I know. He's on a dirt road. What is he driving?
B
Oh, driving.
A
I didn't realize that.
B
Road on a dirt road on a dirt road. You must have never driven a dirt road down a dirt road.
A
I have never driven a dirt road down a dirt road. I didn't even. This is so meta. I. I didn't even realize that this was a dirt road on a dirt road. And that's what he's singing about. Wow. I love that. That reminds me. What was that? Old Dominion released one of their songs, but, like, all the lyrics are meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow. Yeah, that's. They probably are making money off of that on Spotify. Yeah.
B
What was the country song like?
A
Down by the Lake or Parked out by the Lake? Parked out by the lake. Out by the lake. Yep. So, yeah, they're all the same. I mean, you just got to have a good beat, good voice. No one cares what you're saying.
B
Lost my girlfriend, Lost my truck.
A
You know, trucks, dirt road headlights, tail lights, tailgate.
B
Yeah. All right, here's number two. Yeehaw. You've ever driven A beer down a
A
dirt road the song's for you
B
Driving a beer down a dirt road Down
A
a dirt road I forgot about the beer down a dirt road the song's for you
B
Driving a beer down a dirt road Down a dirt road I
A
forgot the cold beer. Cold beer is a huge part of country music. I forgot that part. That was perfect. It was almost. Justin, this is obviously your for you page.
B
Yes.
A
Yes. I. I can tell when a video is Justin's and when it's Andrew's and when it's, you know, someone else's. I'm like, oh, yeah, yeah.
B
It really hurts my heart every time he laughs. Here's number three. If you've ever driven a boat down a dirt road this song's for you. Driving a boat down a dirt road Road you've ever driven a boat down
A
a D. How is he getting these vehicles?
B
Driving a boat down a D. I
A
feel like he has too much time on his hands to be creating these vessels, don't you think? Vessels like, well, what are you calling though, these modes of transportation? You can't even call a beer a mode of transportation. It's like a beer on wheels.
B
You obviously have never driven a beer down a dirt road.
A
I have not. I have not. And you know what I'm going to next 4th of July. I'm going to blow my fingers off in the street with a firework, and then I'm going to ride a boat down a dirt road and a dirt road down a dirt road. And some cold beer down a dirt road.
B
Yeah.
A
Like a good American should. Yeehaw. Is there another one?
B
No.
A
Say, this is crazy.
B
All right, here's number four. Can he say that again?
A
I said, you can sell that to me, but I'll sell you a punch in the gut.
B
Really? Yep. Why?
A
Cause you're trying to mess with my granny.
B
Your granny? Is this your granny? Yep. We're doing her house for pest control. Huh? Yeah, we're doing pest control. Like, actually, I'm going to be. I'm going to take care of her spider webs for Granny. Isn't that not nice?
A
What's his problem? What's his problem? He's very protective over Granny. I think that's cute. But he's got a pro. He's got a problem. He sees someone on his property, on Granny's property. His property, on Granny's property, and he doesn't like that.
B
Threw that scooter down so fast.
A
Yeah. He's like, who? Who are you? A cute kid.
B
All right, last one. Leaving the store with two packs of raspberries so I can get that shit your pants and lose £20 virus. I'll keep you posted. I'll let you know how this goes. Wish me luck.
A
Yeah, we were talking about this earlier that the leftists are calling this Trump's diarrhea epidemic or whatever. And don't you think that these people, like Trump gives them diarrhea all the time? So how would they know that this isn't diarrhea versus the Trump diarrhea?
B
That's what I said. If you.
A
They're always upset.
B
If you think Trump has the power to give somebody diarrhea and he is not constantly using that power on the people he hates. In that very moment, they say that
A
he took, you know, this is Doge's fault. Well, it's always Doge's fault and it's always Trump's fault. I mean, everything. But they think that it was because there were Doge cuts and people, you know, the CDC isn't tracking bacteria as much or whatever. Guys, get a grip, get a grip. It's not Trump's fault. This stuff happens. There are millions of foodborne illnesses every year.
B
This happened a few years ago with the lettuce.
A
It always. People get E. Coli. There's food recalls like, this happens all the time. To say that this is Trump's fault because of Doge this one time, it's like they're only saying this because there were Doge cuts. But it doesn't. It doesn't mean that the CDC tracking this would have stopped it.
B
They don't know that everybody's complaining until they're skinny.
A
Right? This is free Ozempic. Everyone's obsessed with a little quick fix.
B
This is natural, too.
A
You should be thinking. You should be thinking. It's all natural, organic Ozempic from Trump. He said he would lower the prices. This is. This is his plan.
B
Seven bucks.
A
This is his plan. I mean, seriously, what more do you want? You're getting skinny for summer on, you know, thanks to President Trump. You better be thanking him.
B
Go get a Crunch wrap and enjoy being skinny.
A
Yes. Yes. A little extra lettuce, a little extra raspberries. I mean, my goodness, Be grateful. Be grateful. Now I'm going to say this and I'm going to. I'm going to have the shit.
B
We are 100, literally this tonight.
A
Immediately we're like, yeah, anyway. Well, we hope not, but anyway, we have two. Am I the A holes, Right? I do have two birthday edition.
B
Two birthday editions.
A
Cool.
B
These both seem to be fathers unfortunately. So yeah, dads. Dads are bad. Bad at birthdays. So here's number one. I am newly 55 and my daughter, who is turning 23 a few months ago, decided to make me something as a surprise. She told me she was working on something fun for my birthday several months ago. I was pretty surprised since she is still in university and often complains to my wife about not having much money or time. My birthday came and she came by and dropped off her switch and told me play Animal Crossing. That's where my surprise is. I was very confused, but she just smiled and wished me a happy birthday before leaving. We got home and I picked up her switch. I opened the Animal Crossing app and walked around. It was a large flat island decorated with birthday party for a kid. Balloons, cake and all kinds of childish things all over this virtual island. These weird animals walked past and I tried talking to them but didn't say much besides wishing me happy birthday randomly. I assumed my daughter had had a hand in this somehow since her birthday isn't for a few months and she messages her villagers celebrating her birthday and that made her very happy. Oh man. She came by a few days later to pick up her switch and ask what I thought of the gift and I told her I was very confused. It looked like a kid's birthday more than an adult's for a man who has a wife and a kid in college. She looked really upset by my comments and she didn't say anything. She took her switch back and said she'd talk to me later. My wife said I was very ungrateful for my Animal Crossing birthday island and I told her there wasn't much to be grateful for since that literally wasn't anything. She called me an asshole and I'm going to try to make amends with my daughter. But am I really in the wrong?
A
I think you should just be grateful if anyone has thought about your birthday. Especially if it's your dad and it's your daughter. Right? It's his daughter that did this.
B
Correct?
A
I mean, she seems a little too old to be doing this. It's kind of strange.
B
So.
A
But it's the thought that counts. I think.
B
You've played Animal Crossing?
A
No.
B
Okay, so the premise of the game is you get an eye. You're a little animated animal. You get an island and you take care of said island by gardening and buying houses. But you can also buy little decorations and stuff inside the game after you've sold your crops.
A
And is this real money? Adult money?
B
No. So it's Well, I guess you. I mean, everything has.
A
Right.
B
Like you can theory. You earn money in the game, you spend the fake money on the thing. So she made him a wall.
A
A little birthday island.
B
I think I'm anti maid gifts. Unless you're a professional, like woodworker and. Or
A
I think. I think they can be sweet. I think this is weird if someone did this for me, but I don't know. I don't know what this is, so I wouldn't. I understand where the dad is coming from because he's probably not understanding this. And to the girl, I mean, she's. He even said in the message, her friends, her online friends did this for her for her birthday and she loved it. So she's thinking, I'm doing the same thing that I really like for someone else on their birthday. This made me feel seen, and now I'm gonna make someone else feel seen. So I think the intention was there. It just didn't land right. I also think you. When you give something to someone for your birthday, you have to think, would I like this or would they like this?
B
You know, I. I kind of agree. Have you heard of upcycling?
A
No.
B
So it was kind of a trend a few years ago where you would take something that you are. That you had. So I would take your water bottle and I would bedazzle it and give it back to you as an upcycled gift.
A
Right. Like, I made this better for you.
B
The worst gift anybody could ever receive.
A
Yeah. Like, I don't want my. My stuff bedazzled again. You have to think, am. Do I think that I'm making this thing better by upcycling it or will they.
B
Will.
A
Will the recipient of the gift like it better? I feel like the. It's more for the person.
B
I feel like as a dad, you gotta just play it off. Oh, thank you. I guess.
A
Yeah. This is your daughter. You have to say thank you so much. And you can think that it's weird privately and complain to your wife or something, but you have to tell your girl, your. Your daughter, who's too old to be doing this anyway, but thank you very much.
B
10 out of 10. Bad gifts, bad, bad gift, bad reaction.
A
Everyone's the asshole.
B
Yeah, I. I would agree.
A
No, the daughter's not the asshole, but she's just misguided.
B
I think maybe go to Walmart and get your dad like a fishing hook or something.
A
I'm sure if she just wrote a card, he would have appreciated that more.
B
Yeah, for sure.
A
Or something. I Don't know. This is weird. People in the chat agree. It's a thought that counts.
B
Yeah. All right, here's number two. Very similar. Now, my daughter's birthday falls on New Year, so it tends to get disregarded. Never on purpose, because it's between two big holidays. But we have always tried to make her feel special. My daughter is a known introvert, intends to spend a lot of time in her room, and if we're at a family event, she sits in the corner on her phone. She also is very unconventional in the sense that she doesn't desire a lot of things that are typical for girls her age. She's 12, for the record. Okay. Me and my wife have tried to fix this and get her to open up more, but to no avail. The issue arose because when me and my wife asked her how she wanted to spend her birthday, she said something along the lines of alone with snacks in my room. This request wasn't outlandish for her, but spending her birthday alone doesn't seem like a good way to spend your birthday. It would also reflect poorly on us as the family likes big celebrations. So instead, we invited over our family for her birthday for a birthday New Year's celebration. It was a barbecue with lots of snacks, a projector that my brother brought, and a rented bouncy castle. I thought she would realize that this was way better and more productive way to spend her birthday. But I was very wrong. She was miserable the whole time, sat in the corner.
A
Well, she asked to be alone in her room with her snacks.
B
When everyone left late at night, she started screaming at me and my wife about how we ruined her birthday. My wife did most of the scolding and she was sent to her room. How could we ruin her birthday if her plans were just bedrotting? She was also mad because we didn't get the gift she wanted, which was a hot chocolate machine. She's the only family member who drinks hot chocolate, and she's not 50. So we got her something else that we thought she would appreciate more. What? This morning, she ignored all of us, including my sons, who are on our side because they think she's being ungrateful. Since the party was a lot of fun, I was just trying to make her birthday special. Am I the asshole?
A
Absolutely the asshole. What the heck? It's the thing that's so frustrating about this is that the parents know their daughter. They know that she's an introvert. They know what she has asked for, and they have bypassed it. They have bypassed all of her requests. Because they think they know better but they know that she doesn't want that. They're, they're. This is very self serving. This is. I'm worried what the family will think if we don't do this because my, the rest of the family likes parties. So we're going to throw this big party. She doesn't want that. So she doesn't feel seen at all on her birthday. That is so sad.
B
The line that stood out to me when I was kind of sifting through some of these was we've tried to fix her and make her more dog.
A
Don't fix her. I would say I wouldn't want to see. I mean, you know, I don't have kids but I wouldn't want to see my kids sitting alone bed rotting with snacks in their bed on their birthday like the grandparents in Willy Wonka Charlie, the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. That's crazy. Like you can't just be sitting around doing nothing. But I would say why don't we watch a movie and rot as a family or let's watch a movie or order in your favorite food and then you can go into your room if that's what you want to do. But let's celebrate you in some way that she wants to do.
B
I'd agree.
A
This is crazy, dad being like, well
B
I feel bad are on my side. They had a blast. I bet they did.
A
I'm sure they did. And that's great. For their birthday. You can throw a party for their birthday.
B
Mom swapped her too. That's the worst part of the whole story. She wanted a hot chocolate machine and you said that's an old person gift.
A
Yeah. What I feel that's not an old person gift.
B
Didn't know that was a thing.
A
Me neither. Why wouldn't you get her a hot chocolate? This is crazy. She's not asking for much. I don't know, it's. I don't think she's asking for some insane like thousand dollars Breville, but if it's what it, what is the hot chocolate.
B
It is more expensive than you think after.
A
Really?
B
Yeah.
A
Well, they can I'm sure find a reasonably priced hot chocolate machine that costs as much or less than the party that they threw.
B
Certainly, definitely. Definitely. Hold on, let me, let me find a picture of this.
A
A picture of the hot chocolate maker. Hot chocolate maker. I didn't even know that was specifically for that.
B
Here.
A
It looks like a French press.
B
Yeah, it's like a big French press that like churns the hot chocolate it seems.
A
And how Much is that? This is. I'm looking. It's like 165 bucks, 120 bucks. There's one for at Williams Sonoma for 80 bucks. Less than 80 bucks. Keurig has one for 50 bucks. Really? You couldn't get her the 50 buck Keurig one?
B
Oh, I went straight to like the restaurant grade. That's on me. Yeah, not that expensive.
A
Wow. I'm so sad for this girl. I wonder where they are now. Well, let's not end on that note. So we were having this conversation after the show yesterday, but we were talking about, you know, when do you stop selling your celebrating your birthday. Calling back to the video of Flossy, whatever her name is, who is 110 years old who really didn't want to celebrate her birthday anymore. I can understand. You know what? The Flossy is very similar to that last Am I. The Flossy didn't want to celebrate, but everyone else thought it was cool that she was 110. So then they were like, well, we have to make a big deal out of it. She didn't want to make a big deal out of it.
B
Of it.
A
You know, after 110 years, you know what you want. You know yourself. She wanted, she wanted everyone to leave her alone with her cup of coffee. And no one was doing that. I could understand why she was so upset now. This just painted this in a new light for me.
B
Yeah.
A
So when is it to. When do you stop celebrating? I guess the answer is it depends on the person.
B
It depends on the person. I feel like your family is always going to want to celebrate you on your birthday. So you have to do something usually bare minimum.
A
But I don't live near my. So this is different for me because I don't live near my family. So, you know, my uncle called me this morning. My parents have texted me like I am not going to be celebrating with them. But I feel very loved. My mom sent me a gift. Like, you know, I feel seen. I feel loved by my family, but I'm not with them. Well, I'll be with my, my work family tonight. All of us are getting together.
B
Yeah, but you know, you just don't want to be like I think alone on your birthday.
A
I think 21 is a birthday where it's. That's a big one. And then 30 is a big one. You're turning 30 later this week. Very exciting.
B
Yeah.
A
And after that I feel like you do the every five or every 10 years you do like a big one for 40. A big one for 50, a big one for 60, a big one for, you know, 70 and beyond. And then, you know, once you get into the centenarian level, then it's like, okay, now we're celebrating because you're still alive and that's cool, you know?
B
Indeed. Here's the real question. Gifts. I think as an adult, you. When I've had a couple people text and say, or text my wife and say, what does Andrew want first? I'm 30 years old. You do not need to get me anything. That's crazy. I feel a lot of these kids. These people have kids, so they're used to. Apparently kids make like Amazon lists and they're just like, start checking it off like it's a wedding registry.
A
Isn't that crazy how we went from. I never really made a list for my birthday. I don't think maybe I did. I don't remember really, but I remember making a Christmas list. And then once I got into high school, I stopped doing that. And I just. If someone asked me, hey, is there something that you want? I would send them something, but I wouldn't make a list unless someone asked me to do that, but I wouldn't.
B
On my own, we, my friend group used to do little gifts because we would celebrate each other when we all lived in town own. Now we do one big trip a year as a group. So we have all agreed not to get each other gifts.
A
That's awesome.
B
To fund our. So everybody can go on the trip.
A
Right? And that's awesome. And that's a good reminder, too, to keep saving. Like, you would have spent this money on me, but save it for drinks in Mexico.
B
We'll have fun.
A
Yeah, No, I think that's great. Yeah. I don't ask for gifts. If someone gives me something, I'm always grateful for it, but I don't need anything anymore. And if I want something, I'll buy it myself. Or if there's something really big that I want, I guess I could ask, like, a few people to go in on it. My friend group. So my friends from high school, we always do this where it's someone's birthday and we all go in on one big gift card. So it's like, oh, I have, you know, a. A good chunk of money to go to Sephora now because I wear makeup every day for work. So it's like, this is very useful and it's more money than, you know. If everyone were to get me something individually, it wouldn't be that much. But then if you pull together, it's great. It so I love that tradition.
