Hello.
A
There he is. Here we are. Hello to everybody on YouTube. Hit the like button and subscribe. Podcast listeners, five star ratings and reviews on today's show. We're going to get you all set for tonight's pivotal game five in okc. We'll also discuss a little later what's next for the Cleveland Cavaliers. But first, some numbers. 51 points to close out Atlanta in the first round. 30 in Philadelphia, 37 in Cleveland. Carl Anthony Towns 19 points, 14 rebounds. OG scored 17 as the Knicks routed the Cavs 130 to 93 Monday night to complete the four game sweep of the Eastern Conference finals and advance to the NBA Finals for the first time since 99. New York became the fourth team to have an 11 game win streak during the postseason. It's crazy. And all of their wins, all but one of their wins, I should say, have been by double digits. So they are just kicking ass right now running rampage through the Eastern Conference as they go to the NBA Finals. We can dissect this game a little bit. It was over in a hurry. I mean, it was a decent start for the Cavs.
B
Yeah, yeah.
D
Cavs had six good minutes in them. They saw the Knicks were ready to play for 48 and it was 1, 2, 3. Cancun.
A
Yeah, that's. I think you're right because like, oh man, they're trying to.
D
Well, see you next year.
A
Yeah, yeah, they got the ball like early to Mobley on the move and he kissed it off the glass and he hit a three and then Mitchell had some sort of no hesitation threes and. Yeah, but then you like looked at the score and you're like, oh, they're only up one. Yeah, like they were scoring but so were the Knicks and they were like running it down their throat. And that was a big takeaway task.
B
The transition points, the running, the running that. They basically doubled their amount of fast break points from the game before. They went from 17 in game three to 33 in game four. Super disappointing that you just saw. Every single replay they showed was one member of the New York Knicks beating one member of the Cleveland Cavaliers over and over.
A
Everybody like Bridges Brunson leaking out, OG Anobi a couple times.
B
That one, that time that Brunson did it, I mean he was in the paint for the Cleveland Cavaliers before Dean Wade passed the mid court line. Like that was far. And that wasn't just a sprint, but that was, you know, what Trey was alluding to. One team was playing hard and the other one said, all right, we don't got this. I mean, well, we lost game one, I guess then. And then when game three crumbled and they were sprinting more than us in game three, that was the end of it. It sure feels like they're ready to play. For six minutes. Their offense was all right. Oh, here comes Donovan Mitchell.
D
He's looking good for those six minutes. 17, 16. Come on. Cat's looking nice.
B
And there was that one shot. I don't know if you guys saw the, the Donovan Mitchell yelling at his team, you know, in their huddle, trying to get them going. So he was trying, he was trying, they were trying.
A
It just wasn't a good look that. You know, they said it on the broadcast that Kenny Atkinson's number one priority heading into game four.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
In a do or die game was transition defense.
B
Yeah, that was the opposite.
A
Yeah, it was the opposite. They had 13 fast break points in the first quarter, the Knicks did. And as they kept piling them on TK, your takeaways, I mean, it was
D
26 to three fast break points at the half. And these were not fast break points off of turnovers or stops. It would be like the ball would just get out. And like you're saying whoever was guarding the Cav who took the three pointer free layup on the other end, except for Jalen Brunson, he wanted a dunk, was trying to get his first playoff dunk and just couldn't get those fingertips over.
A
Even though they didn't count it as a dunk in the box.
D
He doesn't have a dunk on basketball references. Yeah, but, yeah, I mean, they just destroyed it. Landry Shammit got a bang in the third quarter for putting the Knicks up 29.
B
I'm not good at dunk scores that the NBA does, but let's say Jalen Brunson dunked it. And it's not, pretty obviously, but, you know, is there a circumstantial pointing bump up because, you know, they're going to the NBA finals for one time.
D
Cold hard data.
A
Yeah. I mean, and then even when the Cavs, like, okay, maybe started to get some stops in transition, then the Knicks just started throwing alley oops to Mitchell Robinson. That was my favorite sequence there of that corner.
B
That was over.
A
It's like he come up set a brush screen, just scream to the front of the rim. Yep, throw it up. He had a couple of those. And then, yeah, in the second quarter, it continued. I mean, we had a 200 Knicks run just like we had those big runs in prior games in this series, the 18 0, the 18 to 1. This one was a 200 run over a five minute span there in the first first half, end of the first quarter, in the second quarter. And the second quarter it was like, yeah, Nick started cashing threes, Jose Alvarado started like getting steals. And they're going in the other way, just stealing the Cavs lunch money. And then, yeah, Cat. Cat had a huge put back dunk. And the lead had suddenly ballooned to 25 points. And the New York faithful in attendance. And there were a lot of them, or at least a very vocal contingent there in Cleveland. It was a party for the rest of the night.
D
Yeah, it's a third straight playoff round that has ended with Madison Square Garden ending up in a completely different state. It's been in Georgia, it's been in Pennsylvania, and it was in Ohio last year.
A
Not long, man.
D
Pretty impressive. I mean, it makes sense. New York is the biggest city in the United States, ergo there are transplants everywhere. Plus Knicks fans will travel. They just can't sit in the front row. Which was pretty oh so weird to
A
see Spike Lee not sitting in the front row. It felt like. It made me feel like easy. This does not seem right. And all of them, like you said. Yeah. Buried in the second row.
D
Second row. Knicks fans. First time in their lives they've had to sit in the second row. But yeah, I mean, just a complete beat down here. Three straight conference finals for Carl Anthony Towns. First time he's making the finals. I thought worthy to go with the tough guy voice in the post game party on the Cavs court there. One last slappy gym for the road. You know, more turnovers than made shots for James Harden. He did it seven times during this playoffs alone. Pretty impressive.
B
Wow.
D
Yeah. I mean, people have been pointing to James Harden's playoff performances for a long time, but this is next level, so it's very weird. Man, what a weird season for the Cavs. They made the conference finals.
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah.
D
That was like the whole goal of the season.
A
But it almost doesn't count when you
B
get like, yeah, yeah. But when you're up 22 in the fourth quarter of game one, then it all crumbled from there. If they win game one, then it's probably looked at as a huge accomplishment for the Cavs.
A
At least a 5, 6. Who knows what happens?
B
They still got to there. But you we mentioned Carlton Towns a couple of times. That guy deserves a ton of credit and a ton of applause because he always gets ridiculed. He's always the punching bag. This guy's got to step up offensively, he's got to score more, he's not masculine enough, whatever the heck that means that he gets on social media. But he has absolutely evolved into this piece where he doesn't need to score 25 points. He is just the center of this team in terms of moving the ball. They just got it all going on together. He's a great defender. You could argue he's been their best defender this postseason. Something else, he just receives so much ridicule for what a performance by him. They just needed to go down 2:1 in that opening round series. Whether you give the credit to Mike Brown for turning this team around or just those guys in the locker room for having their backs against the wall on the side and. All right, let's switch this up a little bit. Everybody get involved. A lot of it has to go to Mike Brown for getting Carlton Towns more on the perimeter to be in that hub to making everybody involved, but everybody performing top to bottom. Nobody scored 20 for them in a 37 point blast.
D
Yeah, that is true. It did feel like there was five guys who could have probably gone for 20 if they actually had to play this entire game. But yeah, I give Mike Brown a ton of credit for making the offense way more evenly distributed amongst everybody because doing that makes everybody want to play hard on both ends. Suddenly Carl Anthony Towns cares about playing defense because he's going to touch the ball every possession rather than just watch Brunson dribble it. So Brunson's still the head of the snake, but elevating Towns in the hierarchy elevated everybody else. And locked in this team as a team that really believes they can win and like heading to the finals. They're going to be the underdogs for sure against whoever comes out of the Western Conference. But the Knicks are the healthiest they've been in like three seasons. It feels like right now we don't know what the spurs of the Thunder are going to look like when they get through their hellacious series. Knicks are going to at least win a couple of games in the final. They're playing incredibly well.
A
Yeah, like this isn't them squeaking by here in like seven game series where they look bad at times. Like this is just an ass kicking. They are dominating these teams on the road in closeout games. Toughest thing to do, put these teams to bed. And they do it in like. They do it in like 13 minutes, like whatever. Like in the Hawks closeout game, they were up 20 like in 11 minutes. Same thing against Philly. This one took a little bit longer. Heaven forbid, you know, like 14 minutes, let's call it. So they just. Yeah, the chemistry is off the charts. Everything is clicking now. They have a big break here. It's a week plus before game one of the NBA Finals. They're not moving that everybody. They're not bumping it up. Heaven forbid, you know, the Western Conference finals ends in six or something. No, it's going to start on June 3, on Wednesday. So this is a long time. Just like they had a huge break between the Sixers and Cav series. Yeah. Did they come out sluggish, maybe in game one? Yes. But obviously storm back.
B
Yeah.
A
And they're just going to try and repeat this. But I mean, Knicks fans have a whole, a whole week here, a week plus to convince themselves we can of course win four more games. And at this point, I know the talent goes up a level or two compared to what you're seeing in the east in either the Thunder Spurs. But they're also just playing elite basketball right now on both ends. So it's going to be a competitive series. Finals, like, because we sort of thought that a little bit last year with the Pacers even like, wow, how'd the Pacers get there? They had a lot of lucky breaks. Say a lot of injuries happened against other teams in the East. They're going to get destroyed by the Thunder. Not at all. I mean, a seven game series where maybe a Halliburton injury doesn't even happen and they win the whole thing. So I'm getting ahead of myself. Can't wait to break that down. But we're going to have a lot of time to do a deep dive. NBA Finals.
D
Stephen A. Is going to be going nuts, man.
A
Yes, he is.
D
He's got an a week to just wax about the Knicks going to the Finals. Yeah, that's crazy.
B
That's pretty fun.
A
Jalen Brunson was named the MVP of the series. We were, you know, I guess lightly debating is there any chance for anybody else to win this thing? Eastern Conference Finals mvp. No, he got it. He got all nine votes, I believe. Love seeing some of our guys on the ballot with an actual vote. Schuman, of course.
D
Great.
A
Timmy. Good times. Bon temps. Dan Divine. Give me a hug.
D
How about that?
A
I mean, just keep going and going. Love that.
D
And really good.
A
I think they got it right. Brunson didn't have to play in the fourth quarter, but he averaged 26 points and eight assists and was instrumental in the Game 1 comeback. So was James Harden, so was Kenny Akon, Kenny Atkinson not calling timeouts and maybe switching up the defense. But yeah, Brunson gets it and four More wins. And he's the greatest Nick of all time.
D
Modern day.
A
Modern day, sure. Yes, yes, yes.
D
Yeah. I mean, greatest Nick that anyone alive has ever seen.
A
Play, you could say fair.
D
Because literally every Knicks fan you've ever met has never seen the Knicks win
A
a title for the most part. Yeah. Yeah. You're going back a long time, man. 70, 73. Yep.
B
Oh, yeah. Unless Hubie Brown was a Knicks fan. I mean, I guess Mike Breen.
A
Mike Breen has trust.
D
That's a great point. Your close friend Mike Breen.
A
Yes.
D
Yeah.
A
What else from this one? Before we get into random notes, I.
B
I will say you mentioned Jalen Brunson getting it. I mean the post game ceremony. I thought the best part of the post game ceremony was Landry Shamit getting that huge yell and scream from everybody in that arena. Just getting the support of every Knicks fan in there. Because this is a guy who played so good defensively in this series. There's questions at the beginning of the season whether or not he'd be on the roster. Like Malcolm Brogdon announced his retirement and Landry Shimett was on the roster instead. In this game, in this series, we all questioned his defense. The guy can blow up a pick and roll really, really well or hedge and recover. He was doing such a good job. I thought the. The guard, guard, pick and roll combo for the Cavs would help. But Landry Shamit was really, really good. So to hear all those Knicks fan. That was pretty cool. You know, Josh Hart making sure it went to Landry Shammit to get lots of love. That was awesome.
A
He was great defensively. He also didn't miss a three in the entire series. So pretty good 11. Well, he did miss a three. Correction. He was 11 of 12 from deep. Wild.
B
You swap Landry Shamit and Sam Merrill. Like if Sam Merrill hit some shots. This is a different series over on the other side. Like he need to hit a shot or two in the first. Second game. Second game. Yeah.
D
Merill was brutal. Stre was brutal. The Cavs, I think shot under 30% from three during this entire series. The only Nick who didn't shoot the ball well for three was Brunson.
A
Brunson. He got Eastern Conference finals.
D
Exactly.
A
They had.
D
They had five guys in double digits. And then Shametz at 9.8 points per game as well.
B
He was ridiculous.
D
This was just a straight beatdown.
A
Yeah. Schumann shared on Blue sky last night. Shamet has some somehow surpassed the Van Vliet after having a kid level of playoff shooting. That's where Shimon's at. Shamit is at. Excuse me. Yeah, after he had a kid.
B
Totally, totally. I was thinking the exact same thing. Shu, thank you for your blue sky.
A
Thank you for your blue sky. Schumann. I can't believe I'm going to say this, and I don't really want to, but got to give it up to James Dolan. In January, he jumps on the radio, he says, we want to get to the Finals. We should win the Finals. This is sports. Anything can happen. Getting to the Finals, we, we absolutely have to do winning the Finals. We should do. You know, this is when the Knicks were like struggling. Yeah. This is when they, they had that like that 2 and 9 stretch. Now a lot of us, if you come back and watch the no Dunks podcast, we were like, let's not freak out here. This is a classic doldrum of the NBA season. They're a good team. This happens to, to really good teams. No one thought they were going to rip off an 11 game win streak in the post season, but you get my point. But it looked like a bit of a kiss of death here from Dolan. Like, oh, no, you've stayed so quiet. You've done all the right moves. You've been in the background. Then you're, why are you saying this? But of course it comes true. They're going to the Finals. And before that, Dolan by all accounts spearheaded the firing of a very popular coach in Tom Thibodeau. Dolan said or believed that Tibbs was wearing down his players every season and his hard driving style was sort of having an impact maybe on them physically as well as mentally in some of these breakdowns that we saw in the losses to the Pacers in the postseason two years prior. So I guess the third thing is he didn't put up the NBA cup banner. And we said, you got to respect it, James. He said, no.
D
Interesting.
A
So right now, everything working well for James Dolan and Leon Rose and World Wide west and all these moves they've made, do less.
D
You know, it turns out to be do less. And your voice will actually carry some weight when it matters. And I guess it did matter with the Tibs thing because the Knicks talked to every coach available. Several coaches got extensions because the Knicks wanted to hire him. And eventually they just came around to Mike Brown. He didn't change anything. It felt like for 89 games and then was like, wait a second, what if everybody touches the ball? And it completely changed the way the Knicks looked. This is awesome for them. They might actually snap the cup curse. First team to win the cup and play for the championship in the same year.
A
Do you think Silver is hoping that the spurs also make it out of the West? So it would be a rematch of the NBA Cup?
B
Sure. Sure. Adam. Adam would be the only one happy with that. But, yeah, this is such an interesting season because we all talked about Janice de Gumbo being destined for the New York Knicks. And I don't think I'm speaking in recency bias, but sure feels like they ain't gonna do a thing about trying to get Yanis at the Gumpo. No, no, no. How would they even trade anybody? In what circumstance they. They have to get swept off the floor in the finals by, like, 35 a game. It's unlikely. So that's dead.
D
Not with new Carl out there. Carl, I'm loving this guy. Passes the ball. He's got that deep voice. He plays defense. He does literally everything that everyone wanted from Carl Anthony Towns from the first 10 years of his career, but he locked in, and it completely changed the way the Knicks look. It's awesome.
A
Yeah. I mean, all the moves they've made over the last couple years. I mean, it starts with Brunson. You get Brunson on the. Obviously, the. The family discount deal with was huge and stealing him from the Mavericks. And then, you know, you start to build around him and everybody going, oh, can you win with a guy that's only like six feet tall? Well, you know, they're at the NBA Finals. He's a rock. He's a star. But then all the things they did trade a bunch of draft capital for Miguel Bridges, who started slowly this postseason and now can't miss. And we'll show you the graphic, the hilarious graphic that they had last night in game four. O.J. anunoby, they make that trade big. I mean, this guy's now looking more and more healthy. He's throwing down dunks left and right here. Suddenly, he gets more of a big. The Karl Anthony town swapping Julius Randle before the start of the season. I mean, that was like, sort of out of nowhere. That has worked out. Of course, Josh Hart, they have acquired. I mean, all these pieces they basically traded for outside of the Brunson signing. And then, you know, I guess Mitchell Robinson was a draft pick and he plays well, too. So they've done a great job putting this team together, especially around. Especially around Brunson and Cat. Limited guys defensively, play hard, try hard, but then just surround them by a bunch of, like, incredible wing defenders that can contribute offensively too. It's a good recipe here.
B
Yes. And again, going down 2, 1. In that first round, that aperture just opened up. I just visualized that. The transition, you see when you're watching something, you see the little aperture opened up and they just started using the ball way more around the perimeter. And that just got everybody involved on both ends. And then OG went down with an injury, and there's a little bit of worry about that, whether or not he'd be back. And that's what this conference finals was. Also good for. The fact that you mentioned OG Just getting back to normal. Now it feels like they're totally healthy. Mitchy Mitch, even, you know, as a backup, we always questioned his health.
A
Yep.
B
They're totally, totally stacked and ready for eight days from now. Feels like a long time. Feels like we're in the NFL where we got a lot of time off for this specific team.
A
Media row.
B
Yeah. So the final. Or excuse me, the Western Conference finals can only go until Saturday, so. Still feels like the NFL, you know, like there's a good amount of time. Like there's a. Yeah, you can have
D
like a Pro bowl in between. This is the start of the finals. All the other what? There's 27 teams that are eliminated. Let's see who can run the fastest, one lane to the other.
B
That's a good idea.
A
Free throw contest. Yeah, totally.
D
Sure. Dance contest.
A
Some fun ideas out there. Anything else on this game? Again, we're going to talk about the Cavs a little bit later in the show and we got some random notes, but anything else about game four or what you saw there?
D
I guess this is technically a game note. We got close to a wedgie. Oh, we got close to a wedgie. OG Anunoby blocked at the rim, I think by Jared Allen. Hesitated. It was a ball hesitation, but it popped out. They didn't call.
A
Didn't call.
D
It didn't call us for the jump ball. Ash was trying to get us to count it since we've been in such a drought. But, I mean, it's quite realistic that we make it through three rounds of the playoffs with no wedgies. But that was so close.
A
Very, very close.
B
Super close. Amazon Pharmacy presents Painful Thoughts.
D
Of course I see my co worker in line at the pharmacy.
B
Can you tell I'm picking up prescription hemorrhoid cream?
D
I'm probably standing weird.
A
Why is he smiling?
D
He knows he's gonna call me Hemroid Lloyd tomorrow.
A
I know it.

Support from this show comes from Quince. I'm way overdue for a wardrobe refresh. I'm a podcast host that is very important. I drive a Chevy Trax. I'm a man. I'm 45. Clothes shopping in person is simply not a priority for me, so I usually wear the same stuff till my wife calls me out. For these reasons, I'm pumped to say that Quints has been my new go to. I asked Nora to help me pick out a couple of items and it turns out she already had a cart ready of things she was planning on getting me from Quints. So I picked up two of the 100% European linen shirts. One striped, one solid. The material feels light and breathable and the stitching looks really well done. They're the perfect type of pieces that feel easy and comfortable but still look put together. And the best part is I didn't break the bank. In fact, everything I purchased was priced 50 to 80% less than what you'd find at similar brands. Why? Because Quince works directly with the ethical factories and cuts out the middlemen. So you're getting premium materials without the markup. Refresh your everyday with luxury you'll actually use. Head to Quince.com nodunks for free shipping on your order and 365 day returns. A
Okay, let's get into some other random notes from game four.
B
Random.
A
I don't have a ton for this fun, but let's show you the Mikhail Bridges graphic that they showed during game four. He was shooting 69%. Very nice. 69 for 100. They were including that game. They were so excited to show this graphic that they were updating his stats mid game four because oh my God, he's 69 for 100. That's 69%. Throw it up. So there.
D
That is nice.
B
Barry didn't hear Richard Jefferson say nice. I was shocked by that.
A
That's pretty amazing. Yeah. Yeah. Great restraint by Richard Jefferson.
B
Yeah, he loves a nice shocking.
A
There was the play where Carl Anthony Towns, he got called for a foul, but he thought he had a clean steal and went on the fast break and threw down like the windmill cat dunk. They didn't count it like I said, but then they showed him. And on Kat's jersey, he's got the, the Jaylen Brown like smudge. Was Jaylen Brown in attendance and wiping his head on everybody? There it is. Nice Enhanced jd That's what immediately what I thought of. I don't know. I don't know how he got it though. And I'm not sure he was asked about it.
B
Yeah. Similar location to where Jaylen Brown smeared a jersey earlier this year.
A
Yeah, like a guy on offense, like puts his head down. Right. And tries to create some room. So who's the. Who's the who's the guilty paint job. Okay.
D
On the Cavs, you can rule out James Harden.
A
Yeah.
D
You can rule out Jared Allen.
A
Yeah.
D
You can rule out all the white guys.
A
Yeah. So who's that leave? Donovan. Mitchell.
D
Mitchell Moly and Schroeder. Schroeder didn't play last night.
A
No, he had an illness.
D
Mitchell or Mobley? I would go Mitchell.
A
Okay.
D
I think him and Jalen Brown are close friends.
A
Right.
D
They could be sharing hair paint. Guys.
A
Okay. We maybe crack the case.
B
Really good. Maybe really good assessment. It's funny because there's two guys who have receding hairlines. Like you mentioned. James Harden.
D
Yeah.
B
He ain't going to do it, though. Max Struse also has a headband on. So true. It's covering the receding.
A
Obviously doesn't have that up there.
B
No.
A
The paint job.
B
Yeah. That's great. Who's got the Mitchell.
A
Okay.
D
Who got the boozer?
B
Good one.
A
We talked about all the celebrities there, or at least Spike Lee sitting in the second row and Chalamet is there. Did you see Chalamet after the game?
B
Oh, yeah.
D
Oh, yeah.
A
It was like living his dream, man.
D
Literally, it's his dream.
A
I know.
B
Yeah.
D
Good for him.
A
And I was like, yeah. I was like, that's pretty cool that he's like, of course out there and he's like, just living it up.
D
Yeah. He had to. He had to get so famous from the time he, like, met Landry Fields and Amari Stoudemire outside of an opera. He had to get so famous that he gets it. Second row. And he did it.
A
Yeah.
D
That's like a Marty supreme character arc for him.
A
It is.
D
I also saw late in this game, Tyler Kolik hit a three pointer and Shalamet stands up and yells, white boys.
A
That's right. Colic. Hit a lot of threes. Didn't either.
B
White boys. He was part of the whole. The whole celebration. That was awesome. Just to let him in. Don't pull off a messiah, Giri can't be in here type of thing. They just let him in, and he was part of the whole thing.
A
Correct me if I'm wrong. Sometimes when we do these, you know, trophy presentations for, let's say, a conference finals on the road, you'll, like. You'll do it in, like, the locker room or, like in the back. They don't like. Not. Not every single time. It feels like maybe do it out on the floor, but they're like, well, look at. We got a lot of Knicks fans here. There was a lot of people on the court.
D
They're going to kill us if they
B
don't get to take the court. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You can vividly remember the visual of all those teams on the road in front of this big curtain that's in the hallway. Right. And it's not a. I know.
A
They have done it, of course. On the floor, too, at times, but not all the time. But they're like. They must be like, yeah, look at all the Knicks fans here. Let's go.
B
Let's do it.
A
Just do it out here. What else you got?
D
I got a few. Like we talked about, the Cavs didn't let New York Knicks celebrities sit courtside. And apparently courtside ticket holders had to sign a docusign from the Cavs saying that they wouldn't sell their courtside seats or else they'd be banned for life from Cavs games. Yeah, that's crazy.
A
Hey, hey, relax. Dave Gilbert.
D
Dave was going in.
A
They did.
B
They did something. The Cavs at least did something.
A
They did something they said they did, so. What are you talking about? They prevented them from sitting in the front row.
D
We're not in the front row.
B
I know. Who cares? But it could have been way worse. I mean, if they're sitting.
D
If they're sitting in the front row.
B
Yeah, I'm just having. I'm flashing back to other things with other fans, but let's not get into that. But no, isn't that a bit of an accomplishment? Isn't that something. They did something to.
A
Dan Gilbert should have to pay all of those people that had front row tickets that he basically said, you cannot sell these to Knicks fans. He should have to pay them back for all the money they lost after that performance from his team in game four.
B
Yeah, yeah. Very unfortunate. But he did bring 25 buses worth of fans in the previous round. So he did something.
A
He did. He did. And he tweeted. He tweeted his cl. You know, like, we got a step further, but we're not even close. Or we need to make some drastic moves again.
B
We'll get to that later in the show.
A
Yep, yep, yep.
D
There was apparently one happy Cavs fan last night. A kid named Cooper hit a half court shot.
A
Okay.
D
1 10k.
A
Oh, congratulations.
D
You leave that game. Are you saying awesome game. I made a half court shot and won $10,000. Also, my team got bounced by 40 points.
A
You said he's a kid.
D
How old is he a kid, man, you know, in his 20s, early 20s.
A
He's got. Sure, sure. He's first off. They've won titles, you know, you had LeBron. So true.
D
Yeah, that's true.
A
Yeah. Yeah, that's great for him. $10,000.
D
It's a good day for. For Cooper.
B
Great day for Cooper.
A
Job, Coop.
B
One last note from the NBA Cup. Remember the postgame celebration? Hart literally shoved his thumb in Jalen Brunson's butt.
A
Yes.
B
That was part of their celebration. This time, Josh Hart was being interviewed. Jalen Brunson just smacked his head.
A
Yeah.
B
So he didn't get back at him by sticking anything in his rectum. So that smoked.
A
It looked like he smoked him.
B
Yeah, he hit him hard.
A
Hit him hard.
B
Yeah. And hard. Didn't do anything. Took it.
A
I think they do that a lot.
B
Lot to each other.
A
Like, okay, I know who did that. That was JB slapping me as I walk over to Lisa Salters.
D
Yeah, they were fighting. It was also cute, I thought, when Mike Brown, like, got to talk to Lisa Salters and he's walking over and they all just start going, mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike.
A
Did the Nuggets do that with Michael Malone? He hates being called Mike. I know, but, I mean, I feel like if you're Mike after Finding Nemo, deal with it. Yeah, you're going to get a lot of Mike, Mike, Mike. Also, did you see the halftime show inside last night? Shaq and Kenny singing Sinatra.
B
Oh, that.
A
Doing the Rockettes, like, kick, I guess, or whatever, as they were, like, basically dancing on the graves of the Cavs. Yeah, yeah. They were right. I mean, the lead was cut to 16, but then it was quickly back to 20 plus.
B
Yeah. Barkley did the definition of.
A
Yeah, quit.
B
Quit. Yeah.
A
Like Cavaliers for whatever. Yeah, yeah, they were. They knew it. They were. They were convinced there was no comeback in this. And then my final note was, I. I don't know if you guys caught this. Mike Breen doing a clash in Italy. WWE ad read. And he said it was a great honor to do that. He always wanted to do that. I think he said, like a WWE ad read. And then Richard Jefferson shared his favorite wrestler. Did you hear who his favorite wrestler was?
D
Oh, current.
A
Yeah, current.
D
Oh, current favorite.
A
Current favorite wrestler. Here we go. Good trivia question.
B
It's not Danhausen.
A
No, not Danhausen. Oh, man. But the curse is powerful, man.
B
Wow.
D
Undefeated since he lifted the curse and the Cavs got swept once.
A
He cursed them. Very powerful.
D
It actually might be powerful. I hate to admit it.
B
Richard Jefferson's favorite wrestler.
A
I don't think you're going to get it on your first guess. So I'm Just going to tell you it's a female wrestler.
D
Okay.
A
I mean, it gets it down to, like, no good.
D
Becky Lynch.
A
No good pick.
D
Jade Cargill. Is that what her name is?
A
No, but very strong.
D
Okay.
A
Very strong.
D
Nia Jax.
A
No, you're missing the one, man. Australian. Australian. No, no, no.
B
Yeah.
A
Rhea. Ripley.
D
Ripley.
B
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
A
Sorry, I forgot. That's Richard Jefferson's favorite.
D
She's good.
A
She is great. She's probably my. One of my favorite wrestlers. All right.
D
Yeah. A couple other things. Apparently, Matt Mike Brown made a sad Knicks mix for all of these guys to watch ahead of the conference finals. Like, plays from last year's conference finals, them losing against the Indiana Pacers, but also just like, close up shots of them looking sad as they came off the court.
A
Okay.
D
I think that's a pretty interesting motivational technique.
A
Right? Right. Like, don't forget that moment. You don't want to be back here.
D
You don't want to be this sad ever again. But I. I don't know if they were showing us the actual video or, like, dramatization of what the video could be, but obviously Tom Thibodeau is in it. I feel like that's kind of rubbing in his face a little bit. And the last thing was Josh Hart called out some reporter for eating chicken wings during the press conference. He's like, I see. You're supposed to be asking questions. You're sucking on your fingers. Those chicken wings, they look like they're hitting, though.
A
Who?
D
What?
A
We don't know who it was.
D
I couldn't figure it out. Yeah, I couldn't figure out who brought the wings to the.
B
Oh, no, I'm interested.
A
Yeah.
D
Who took the wings? Let us know. Dan Divine.
A
Yeah. Or Schuman or whoever was there could
D
have been them eating the wings.
B
Wow.
A
No, I can't see those two eating wings after a press conference, like, at a press conference. No way. They're too professional, those guys.
D
I would have to agree. I've only ever seen John Schuman eat tacos, but I've seen him eat tacos a handful of times. More than you would imagine.
A
Wow.
D
Yeah, I saw him eat noodles once, too. Yeah, well, I've seen him eat a lot of meals, but never at a press conference.
A
Yeah. Yeah, that's different. That's different. All right, let's take a break and when we come back, we will talk about the Cavaliers off season decisions. There are a few.
B
All right, let's build a parlay for OKC Spurs Game 5, because FanDuel is giving you Better payouts on same game parlays. All NBA playoffs. Long parlay position one, Lou Dort to make the first basket of the game. Yeah, I'm doing that.
A
Wow.
B
He did in game two of the series. So this is their first time back in okc. That's where he last did it.
A
Is that the one where he drove? He drove inside on that one.
B
Yeah. In mid range.
A
Yeah. Yes, I think so.
B
Yeah, I think so too. Parlay position two, Chad Holmgren, eight plus rebounds. He's done in two of the four games. He's coming off one. I think he can do that. Parlay position three. I'm definitely going more conservative after that. Crazy. Lou Dort one case and Wallace. Two plus made threes. Not asking a lot. Two plus made threes. Parlay position four, Stefan Castle. Six plus assists. Seems easy.
A
Okay.
B
Plus 54.53 is what it pays. It's a little risky. The door. It's the Wild.
A
Yeah. It could be over. Be over after 30 seconds because Wendy's
B
probably gonna win the tip. Yeah.
D
He's four for four.
A
Yeah. You're gonna need to stop. That's a great one.
B
Stop. Lou's gonna hit a shot. Wow. We'll see. From spreads to player points to threes and more. Build it all into one same game parlay and go for bigger payouts, more options, better payouts all NBA playoffs. Long head to the FanDuel sportsbook app. FanDuel, official partner of the NBA player game.
A
Okay, let's. Speaking of playing games, let's play fill in the blank. It's been a hot minute since we played fill in the blank, but I got a few fun fill in the blank questions for you guys. And the first one has to do with the Cavaliers. Let's just get right to it. The Cavaliers biggest off season decision is blank.
B
It's whether or not they copy exactly what the Knicks did last season and fired Tom. Tom Thibodeau and fire Kenny Atkinson immediately. I think they have to do that immediately.
A
Wow.
D
Today you say he's gone.
B
I. I honestly am looking at the days as to they lose on Monday. How many days does it take them? I think that's the biggest thing they should and have to do because of how much money they have tied up in their roster. It is locked up all over the place. And so you want a coach to come in and try and get a little bit more from Evan Mobley. You want somebody to ask James Harden to move off the ball just a little bit. Obviously there's going to be some Roster questions, can there be a LeBron James coming for a cheap and what Kobe Altman can do. But there's just so limited. I think it's has to emulate exactly what the Knicks did. See a Tom, see a Kenny. I think. I think those two things have to have to happen. That's the only way I think they can motivate this group after what they did in game one of the Eastern Conference finals. Because they are handcuffed.
A
They are.
B
And. And so yeah, you can get into the Harden, you can get into the LeBron part of it. But I think that's what you got to do because the roster is going to be very similar.
D
Yeah, the roster can be very similar if they want it to. But highest payroll in the league for the Cavs this year and they finished the playoffs under. 508 and 10. Literally the worst record you can have if you make the conference finals. And they're going to want to be under the second apron. So I kind of agree with you. Test that most likely they run it back, bring back a new coach and try and tinker around the edges since they don't have a ton of stuff available and their 2032 pick is even frozen because of this season. But the biggest question for me is what to do about Donovan Mitchell and is it time to move on? Cause he's eligible for an extension this year. He'll be 30 at the start of next season. He's available. He will have a four year, $272 million deal available to him over the summer. If he wants to wait until the summer of 2027, it goes to five years. $352 million could maybe even add a no trade clause at that point. And you just have to think how far can a Donovan and Mitchell team really go because he finally made the conference finals this year. I think this was one of his worst playoff runs that we've seen so far. He's obviously getting older. If he comes back, they're going to want to bring back Harden as well. Like you're saying, they're pretty hamstrung with what they can actually do. Maybe it would be a Jared Allen trade or something like that. So I think the Cavs really need to think about seriously building around Evan Mobley versus Mitchell this summer to me, comes down to which direction are we picking. Sticking with the open aperture that the Cavs have right now, building around Mitchell or looking a little bit further to the future and reorienting the team around Evan Mobley?
B
It's risky. Risky. Trying to build around Evan Mobley.
D
Yeah, it's risky trying to build around Donovan Mitchell too. He's made the conference finals once and still has zero wins in the conference finals.
B
Yeah. I don't disagree.
A
So he may have played the best of all the guys that played in the conference.
D
Do you think this is a good like postseason though for Mitchell?
A
No, I don't. I'm with you on that. It was definitely up and down, but I don't think he was the reason by any means that they're not winning the game against the Knicks.
D
So really score one basket in the fourth quarter of game one and you win a game.
A
Yeah, probably.
D
But he wasn't good enough as the one A guy. I don't think this year.
A
Okay. Yeah. I mean, I don't know. Mobley, Mobley. Did Mobley have a good playoff series?
D
I think he, I think his reputation improved the most this playoffs. From everybody on the Cavs, number two, Jared Allen.
B
Yeah. The scary part with Donovan Mitchell is him and Harden together. Not great defensively as guards to lead your team. And Mitchell obviously has to give up the ball a ton to Harden and just that whole chemistry. That's why I'm. I'm more buying into keep Harden around because he didn't play bad at all, even though there was some bad moments.
A
We're not doing this again with James Harden at this point. Well, I mean, I'm not saying he's the reason either, but he's not like he was good.
B
He was good for lots.
A
He's the reason they lost game one.
B
Because of his defense.
A
Yes. And it's no fault of his own. It's no fault. We knew this for 15 years. Yeah.
B
If you have a guy beside him. If Dean Wade wants to fight over a pick, which isn't even a pick. It's just me going up to you and just throwing my body at you like this. If he, if he does that, if they have more of that fire in that locker room.
A
James Harden doesn't have that fire.
D
Yeah.
B
I'm not saying I'm not. He's not got to defend it. The defenders are going to be around him. We all know that. Yeah. What options do they have with James Harden?
A
Well, you're obviously he's got player options, so there are decisions to made. I, I assume they have some sort of like handshake deal when he went to Cleveland, so maybe it's going to be longer term deal on cheaper money. That'd be a good start. I guess. I'm not saying like he's the reason and get rid of them by any means. But also like we've seen this time and time again, especially when the going gets tough, he gets going. He's like, all right. He has no very little fight in him at this point, especially with his age. They quit. They quit. Obviously. They gave away game one at the end. That sucked. They quit at the end of game three. And they didn't have much spirit in game four. Yeah, right. And that's your leaders and your leaders, last I checked are Mitchell and James Harden. So that's part of it for sure.
B
That's why I think you start with a coach and try and hope you get a little bit more out of the players and not just those two guys, but everybody around him. Again, the, the, the Dean Wade, the, the, the small forward position. We know if you got Mitchell and you're playing with Mitchell and Rob Harden, you've got to have a, the fire in the shorts of your small four to be able to fight. And they gave up Darius Garland for James Harden because Garland had not performed in the playoffs. Harden at least, at the very least helped get them to the conference finals. I don't know how long they keep him around, but it just feels like I'm not giving up on Mitchell at the very least. Who was in those lock in those huddles trying to get everybody going. It didn't happen. But I start with the coach and we'll see how much they pay Harden, I mean, that's, that's a big question. Shouldn't give him a bajillion dollars in the money that you said for Mitchell. Also a little scary. That's a big, big amount of money, Jared.
A
Although his contract starts to go, it's now. No, it's like 30 million though it's like a little different. I'm saying like when Mobley and him were making X amount of money, which is a lot cheaper, it's a little more easy to stomach now it gets more expensive. And you want to start, of course, winning and at least competing for titles. But maybe people are saying they are sort of competing for titles, getting to the conference finals. I mean, this is good news if you're a Cavs fan. Saw this going around a lot last night. A little shred of hope. The Knicks are going to be the fourth straight Eastern Conference finals loser to make the finals the next year. They follow the Pacers, the Celtics and the Heat. So if that trend continues and the Cavs are looking good, I would have very little faith in the Cavs being in the finals next year. Unless there is maybe a very drastic move and maybe that's Giannis, you know, maybe it's someone else. Of course, LeBron plays a part in this equation. Maybe coming, maybe if he's going to give the hometown discount or something like that.
D
Even then though, they got to slice some guys off of payroll. So I think Ellis, Wade, Stru, Schroeder, these are all guys who could not be Cavs next year. And I don't think any of them were all that important to them. That's an upgrade position at the very least. So maybe it has LeBron. If they decide to bring back Mitchell and Harden, I think they are a package deal together. Like if Mitchell wants to sign an extension, Harden will get a one plus one next year and then a player option that's just what he's been signing. If that happens, they got to trade Jared Allen just to get like a real fifth starter. They've been looking for a fifth starter for a couple of years now. So I would, I would get out of the Allen business. I would bring in a wing for him. Maybe they can get a pick or maybe it's two players like PJ Washington. Daniel Gafford would be an awesome trade for the Cavs to bring in Gafford as a backup big to Mobley playing the number one center role. You can play them together a little bit and then PJ Washington can kind of slide between the three and the fourth. That would do wonders for them. So yeah, I guess if they are still in the Mitchell business, they should still be a top four team in the Eastern Conference. That gives you a chance to make it to the conference finals like they did this year. And then maybe you shoot better than 30% from 3 next year.
B
Yeah, and it was a good move to get rid of DeAndre Hunter because that was a monster amount of money that they were going to owe him next season. So that was great. But they still are paying Schroeder for two more seasons. That's unfortunate. Part of that deal, the Keon Ellis part. Why are you going to pay him more money? I think if you're looking at internal growth, you're hoping Jaylen Tyson grows into a better player because he's still young, he's still good, he's still good, but he's got to develop a shot.
A
Yeah. A lot of questions here on the Cavs, but you guys seem on board that Kenny Eon may not be here this week for the rest of summer, let alone this week is right.
B
Yeah. Yeah, that's highly.
A
You think he buried himself when he did the old analyt. We've won two out of three. I guess two out of four, because I think I'm gonna give the nod analytically to the knicks in Game 4. It's a tied series. Kenny's mine.
B
It's a real Daryl Morey move, you know, out with the old, in with the young blood. There's got to be somebody younger, scrappier. Well, who. Who likes numbers, but also just tries to get his guys a little bit more motivated. I don't know if it's necessarily a young guy. I never thought of this, but who is. Who's. Who's replacing Kenny? That's for another episode.
A
James Harden, by the way, had some fun quotes after yesterday's loss. Yeah, it was four row, but we didn't give ourselves a chance, genuinely. I think we are the better team. He went on to say so in Harden's heart. Just like Kenny. They're sort of in this thing still. It was close.
D
If you don't look at the score.
A
Yeah.
B
Yes.
A
It was close to 15. You don't look at the score. That's a great way to look at it.
B
We're right there.
A
It's amazing. All right, moving off the Cavs. We'll be talking about them, I'm sure, a lot more in the coming weeks. All right, let's get pivotal, baby. The spurs throttled the Thunder 10382 in Game 4 of the west finals on Sunday. The series heads back to OKC tonight, where the reigning champs will try to defend home court and keep their back to back title hopes alive. So let's preview this in. Fill in the blank. TK One thing to watch for in tonight's Western Conference finals Game five is
D
the Thunder's number two man.
A
Number two.
D
Who is it? Literally, who's the Thunder's number two man?
A
Not AJ Mitchell.
D
AJ Mitchell is out. J Dub listed as questionable, though. They changed his injury designation from hamstring soreness to hamstring strain. That doesn't make me think he's coming back. No, that sounds worse.
A
Sounds worse.
B
It's left hamstring, semicolon. Injury management. Dash strain.
A
Yeah, they added strain. Yeah.
B
Yeah. Injury management.
A
That's that.
D
Two pieces of punctuation, one injury diagnosis. Huh?
B
Not great.
D
But that's the question for the Thunder is who's going to be the number two guy in game three? It was Jared McCain who went for 24, bombing away from three. I think the entire bench was the number two man. In game two, you could also throw in Isaiah Hartenstein. Just Mall and Wemby for 48 minutes. There's a couple. There's a lot of really good role player performances. I thought in the Game 2 win for the Thunder, but I don't know who it's going to be. Maybe it'll be Caruso. Maybe they run more pick and roll. Just allow him to create inside. If they're going to be. I think they'll double Shea a little. They didn't a ton in Game 4. But maybe Crusoe can be a playmaker. Maybe Case and Wallace can be a playmaker. Maybe it's just being back in Oklahoma City. We can shoot threes like we did in game two. But you have to wonder, will number seven show up? That's chat Holmgren. 11 points per game, six rebounds per game, shooting 47 from the field, 33 from three. 33 doesn't sound that bad. He's taken nine threes in four games. Big Jalen Williams has taken 19. Just shoot him. Check. Just shoot the ball. I would like to see him at least go out trying. You know, I think that fire him up, even if you go three for 10. I'm happy to see that. And also maybe number two could have a big game. He hasn't yet. Shea's been kind of struggling in this series and the play him one on one is interesting because after, I guess, three games, people are saying, oh, man, J.J. redick gave everybody the recipe on how to guard Che Gilders. Alexander double him all the time. And the spurs went and singled him for an entire game and blew him out. So I wonder what Shay's response will be to seeing different defenses.
B
I do want to see whether the Thunder just go home and some of those threes just fall. Because I went back and watched every single one of those threes. A lot of it was just out of rhythm, out of the flow, slow, because the spurs got them there. And so maybe it's different at home. That could very well happen. It is scary that both A.J. mitchell and Jalen Williams might not be playing. We'll see about Jalen Williams specifically, no doubt. But some of those guys, like you said, Jay Will, those threes could go down here like somebody, somebody. Because none of those guys shot well. None of them. Ken Rich Williams had a couple threes. Ken Rich Williams, Isaiah Joe did hit a couple threes to end the game. Look into the heavens. But maybe they're just better at home. So regardless of who is playing, I think home can change that. And we'll have more of a battle in general.
A
Yeah, it's weird at this point it feels. I don't want to put words in your guys mouth here but it's like you have more confidence in what the spurs are or what their identity is and what you're getting from Wembanyama. Sort of at this point where the Thunder without some of these other secondary facilitators and creators, it's like it's a bit of a wild card. Even though they have the two time MVP in SGA who I think will have a better game here tonight than he did in game four. I think numbers wise and his impact on the game. But yeah, it's like the spurs with their defense and the way they're playing as a unit, just a little more established. I have a little more confidence right now. What you're going to get from them where the wild card or the Thunder with all these guys you're throwing out there, Caruso, Dortmund, Wallace, any of the Williams that are playing or not playing. So yeah, I mean this is a huge one. Like I don't know, we say this all the time but it does feel like who wins tonight's game will probably win the series because they're still fairly evenly matched and you're going to get a couple cracks at trying to put a team to bed.
B
Yeah, I totally agree. It definitely feels like the spurs are more comfortable. We, we all sort of believe in what they have. There was a reason I think Mark Dagno sat Shea for the entire fourth quarter of game four was to just have those guys see some shots go down like Isaiah Joe did. I know they don't necessarily want to use IJ Isaiah Joe in general but because of all these injuries they may have to. They just need to see a couple of Crusoe could have a bounce back game. I mean he needs to be back to what he was earlier in this
A
very quiet in game four. One shot.
B
Yeah. So crazy. Yes.
A
After the impact he had early in the series.
D
Yeah, I mean they were giving him open shots for three straight games and
A
they've decided okay, switch it up, take away all the other guys and see if SGA can sort of beat mainly Castle and obviously Wemby roaming like good luck. I mean SGA is just going to have to have that mid range going and he can get to it and he gets his looks but he's got a drop here tonight. So they're going to take game five or Chet.
B
Chet a little bit. You know
A
my confidence in Chet has
D
faded And I mean that's the problem for the Thunder right now is they're down three second options. Whoever it may be. Chad is not playing well. I think it would be a surprise if he has an outstanding game, but if he does, Thunder win. No J Dub, no Mitchell. Those are three guys who could be carrying the offense when Shea sits because they're doing well when Shea is playing. But I mean also the spurs are doing well when Wemby's playing plus 50 I think for four games.
A
That's the other whole part of this equation. What if Wemby just decides no, this is the series tonight. Let's go berserk again. And we have another monster monster game. Barry in play. Can't wait. Game five tonight, 8:30 on NBC.

For these reasons, I'm pumped to say that Quint has been my new go to. I asked Nora to help me pick out a couple of items and it turns out she already had a cart ready of things she was planning on getting me from Quints. So I picked up two of the 100% European linen shirts, one striped, one solid. The material feels light and breathable and the stitching looks really well done. They're the perfect type of pieces that feel easy and comfortable but still look put together. And the best part is I didn't break the bank. In fact, everything I purchased was priced 50 to 80% less than what you'd find at similar brands. Why? Because Quints works directly with the ethical factories and cuts out the middlemen. Our next one here, we'll stick with Wemby. This was a random note maybe we forgot to address on Yesterday's show. Victor Wembanyama's shoes that he wore in Game 4. He brought back these Nike GT Hustle 33 pes in Game 4. The pair is obviously inspired by cows, a clear nod to the running trope of Aliens abducting cows says be unique every day written on the tongue there too. So there's a look for everybody on YouTube. Task. Get us started. Fill in the blank. Wemby's cow print shoes are Texas.
B
Texas has the most cattle in the U.S. 12 million cattle and calves in the state of Texas. Wow. That's. That's double the second most of any state. Texas, man. That's Texas. I forgot. I didn't realize that he had him earlier in the season.
A
Yeah.
D
Before. For sure.
A
A couple times.
B
The cows are back.
A
Do you like them?
B
I don't love them, no.
A
You don't like cows?
B
Cows are fine. I like cows more than horses.
A
Hell yeah, brother.
B
Cows are cool, I guess.
A
Okay, what do you think, tk Fill in the blank here on.
D
These are like throwbacks to me. Because a cow being abducted by an alien, that's like something you'd see on national enquirer in the 1950s.
B
Yeah.
D
And these are kind of like a higher cut shoe. Adds to the throwback vibe.
A
Yeah, I agree. And like, I do like the green, I guess is almost like the tractor beam, like taking up the cow. Is that the. Is that the idea there? Yeah, sure.
D
Okay. Totally.
A
So you're a fan? Is.
D
I'm an ish fan.
A
Yeah.
D
Yeah.
A
Like, do you think they should mass produce these? And would people buy these? Okay.
D
No, these shoes are sitting.
B
Yeah, that's not gonna. That's not gonna be the Wemby shoe.
D
Yeah. You can still get the Wemby Halloween shoes on Nike if you want.
A
Okay.
D
That's pretty good though.
A
Yeah.
D
Yeah. So GT also is good. I can't deny it.
B
Yeah.
A
As a shoe.
B
Yeah. His PEs are cool, but he does
A
not have his own signature shoe yet. We're waiting on that. You would think that's coming.
D
The Wemby's interesting. Would they sell? Big guy shoes don't usually sell.
A
No, they don't. But he's sort of special. He's special. Yeah. I sort of think they would. And like, if they lean into the alien angle and the futuristic or whatever they are. Yeah, we'll see. I'm sure they are printing them or making them right now. Final one here. More Wemby related topics. Sirius XM NBA Radio host Justin Termine revealed Monday that he was the lone voter who left Wemby off his first team All NBA ballot and said he did so because he doesn't fill out a positionless ballot. Okay. In a video posted to social media, Termine made it clear this was not a slight on Wemby, he wanted to make that very clear.
D
I love the boy, but more of
A
a. I love the kid, right? Oh, yes, but more of a philosophy because of historical precedent. I think that was Justin Termine's like, sort of main point here. It's like a three minute video. Seek it out. Fill in the blank. TK get us started. Justin Termine leaving Wemby off all NBA first team is blank.
D
Ridiculous. But it was understandable. I'm glad that he made a case because when he ended up on the second team, I literally said, who's the one person who left him off the team? And apparently it was Justin Termini.
A
Oh, yeah, maybe. Excuse me.
D
Anyways, I don't know. This to me is the same as like people getting upset when they were going to cancel student debt. And they're like, but all these people had to have student debt back in the day. It's not fair that we have to pay off our student debt. So it's not fair to Patrick Ewing being left off the 94 team. So Wemby, it's not fair to him now that he's getting left off the first team when he was clearly a top five player this year. So he's got his rules. He's sticking to it. But these aren't the rules.
A
Yeah, he's basically saying in so many words, patrick Ewing got screwed. So out of fairness, I will personally screw over Wendy. Yeah, it's like very weird. It's a little ass backwards, but yeah. Okay. They changed the voting system to avoid the very thing that you're saying screwed Patrick Ewing. And they're a little different because we're talking about, like when being on the second or first team, you know, Ewing was literally bumped from any.
D
Right.
A
All NBA team because of the center designation and all the great centers at the time. So, you know, it's a little different that way. But he explained it. What's your takeaway to this?
B
There's no need to watch the video of him explaining it. Really. We just explained it.
D
It's.
B
He's voting like a senior citizen. I mean, that's. That's what it is. There's no real reason to do that. There's no real reason to discount Victor Wembanyama and how good he is. That's simple as that. It's evolved. I say senior citizen because the voting has evolved. The game has evolved. Guys are basically positionless in a way. Yeah, Wemby plays the center, if you want to call it that, but he's one of the best five Players. One of the best three players. A lot of his defense was. I voted him third as MVP in the MVP ballot. So. So that kind of gives me. I. I don't know. He's defending himself.
A
He was. I thought Jokic had to be. I want to do this the old school way that I have to have a center, two forwards and two guards. And I think Jokic. This is Justin saying, I want Jokic as my center on the first team because he had a better regular season than Wemby as the center. But even though we changed the rules so you didn't have to do that. He really wants to stick to that.
B
Yes.
A
And he thinks a big part of it has to do with how we look at the NBA over a season and the historical precedent. Like I said, that's his thinking.
B
The historical precedent. Just take him off that first all NBA team. Doesn't make a lot of sense. And I'm the biggest Jokic fan in the world. But his season wasn't as good as Wemby's. At the end of the day, Jokic got hurt. He wasn't himself after being hurt. The spurs had a better record, put Wemby on the first team. And it's unfortunate he's the only one to put him on the second team because he is the only one who has to go out and defend himself.
A
I mean, I know there's a lot of outrage about this because he is
B
on the first team.
A
Yeah. But like, at the end of the day, it actually doesn't matter at all. At all. I mean, he's on the first team and. And no one's gonna remember that he wasn't unanimous. First team selection in 20, 25, 26 season. No one will care or remember. So. But, you know, I. Look, I'll give him this. He explained his reasoning.
B
He defended himself. Is this good for.
A
We still say it's stupid, but, you know, he did explain it.
B
Is this good for NBA Radio, the fact that one of their hosts got some publicity?
A
Well, that's what people think he did it for.
B
Yeah, maybe. Yeah.
A
Because you get to do this. Yep. And you get a fill in the blank question on no dunks. Mission accomplished.
B
Yeah. I think he would have come out with a video earlier and know, like done something big. I mean, they did come out with that graphic where he's pointing to his.
A
Oh, yeah, some AI slop in the graphic.
B
He's pointing to him putting Wemby on the second team. There's my one. See? See, I did that.
D
Yeah.
A
Okay.
B
I'm I'm tuning into NBA Radio now because I saw Justin Termin.
A
Terminy. Excuse me.
B
I don't know if that.
A
No, I think after I said it, I was like, that's not right. I've seen clips of his. I am not a listener of SiriusXMNBA radio, but a lot of clips going on.
D
I've only heard Simmons say his name. Yes, he's a Simmons regular. I thought the reason was going to be the minutes. You know, Jokic played 400 more minutes. I thought that was going to be the reason. I don't know if that's better or worse than this.
B
Yeah. I wanted to make a pun, a terminal pun. Like that idea is terminal. It's dead. It didn't work out. We had the Frank Isola who's also NBA Radio. That whole thing happened a few weeks ago, remember? Yeah. Kenny Beecham Legit was drawing up Isola and Brian Scalabridi lost an hour on the air.
A
Yeah. Sirius xm NBA Radio is having a moment.
B
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I just got noticed that I've got two free weeks of Sirius Radio.
A
Let's go.
B
Is that. Why are they doing it like right
A
now for the finals, baby.
B
That was like May 24th to like June 5th or something.
A
I don't know.
B
It's just a weird time. Those kids are off school. Yeah, that's exactly it. Kids off school, this beginning of summer. Kick off the summer with Sirius Satellite Radio.
A
Yeah.
B
Hey, it worked. I told him. Crank it. Did it work? Are you listening?
A
You're listening to the U2 on Sirius. These are my top five U2 songs.
B
Good call. That's a good call.
D
Yeah.
B
It worked. It worked for me. I told Danielle because she. I know she likes serious because she doesn't want to think about dealing with her phone, her stream.
D
It worked.
B
I told her. I don't know if she did it, but. Did it work for you? Jd? I subscribe.
D
You're a regular subscriber?
B
Yeah.
A
Really?
D
You got favorite numbers?
B
Let's see. I don't know the numbers, but.
D
Lithium.
B
It's lithium for sure. The bridge. Just basically smooth yacht rock. Basically the new wave. The first wave. First wave is like 80s new wave and punk.
D
Nice.
B
What else?
A
Yeah, I don't know.
B
I flip around.
A
What do you pay for that? What's your subscription?
B
It's. It's like just over 100 bucks. Every year, six months or something like that. Like, the only reason I have is because I keep forgetting to.
A
You need rocket money to remind you to cancel that.
B
Ask Dave Gilbert.
A
All right, those are fill in the blank. Hope you played along there in the Stream team or play along in the comments or on Spotify in the comment section. Let's, let's see what you guys are using there to fill in the blanks on those four topics of the night. Sponsored by defresh10 by way of the Stream team. Simply, I believe for JD's energy bill fund.
B
That's what he said, but really we
A
could Change that to JD's SiriusXM subscription.
B
Yeah. Awesome.
A
Yeah. So thank you to defresh 10 for sponsoring. Whoa. Boy. Keeping the lights on in here and the tunes on in the car.
D
This donation paid for cumbersome by 7 Mary 3.
A
How exciting.
B
Oh, that was on the other day. I flipped the channel. I flip it. Wow.
A
Well, Carl Anthony Towns gets WO Boy only scored 19 points, but very efficiently 8 of 11 from the field. Sank all three of his threes. 14 rebounds, 2, 3 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks. He played 26 minutes. Carl Anthony Towns was very, very happy, I thought, to head to the NBA Finals. You know, it's like a little different than not. Not that Joan Brunson isn't happy, but you know, like in terms of like holding the championship or the Eastern Conference trophy and celebratory mood, like it's maybe that's why they're a good pairing here. Yeah.
D
More reticent in general.
A
Right.
D
But this has got to be some of the lowest numbers you're ever gonna
A
see on a low boy. I mean.
B
Yeah, yeah.
D
19 and 14 is a good game.
A
Yeah. 19 points is low for a wall. No doubt. But he did have two blocks, two steals. I could have put stock there and you know, Nobody scored over 20.
D
Right.
A
So I'm not going to give it to Donovan Mitchell. I'm sorry, even I have. You know, I know you can give Woah Boy to a loser, but I couldn't go that far. Couldn't do it.
B
No. I do want to mention after looking at the stats, some people listen to no dunks on SiriusXM. What? Yep, they do. How? I don't know how it works, but they. They download using the app, I guess. Really? Yeah, because I was looking at these stats yesterday. Obviously our number one is Apple.
A
Yeah.
B
Number two is Spotify. There's a Pocket Cast, there's a Pocket Addict.
A
Okay.
B
You know, but some people listen on browser, there's a Chrome. Somehow they get it through Chrome.
A
Sure. You can listen ad free to our shows on Substack.
B
That's true.
A
Of course, a whole other thing.
B
But there's so many apps out there. Podcast, Republic Edge, Edge. I don't know.
A
It's one of my favorite wrestlers.
B
Some people listen to it on Alexa.
A
Cool. And it tracks it. That's. Yeah, yeah. But how are we on Siriusx?
B
They must have.
A
Are we not being paid for that?
B
Oh, we are.
A
It's.
B
It's a podcast. Oh, it's just a catcher catches the RSS feed.
A
Okay, great. Thanks for catch up.
B
Yeah, yeah. There's an eye catcher. Deezer. What is Deezer? Dog catcher. Castro.
A
Eye catcher. Yvonne Rodriguez.
B
Rodriguez.
A
That's pretty good, actually.
B
Man.
A
Come on, man.
B
You throw you through an Edge and an Avon Rodriguez in. In the same.
A
Come on, man.
B
Thirteen.
A
I couldn't think of another catcher with an eye, but.
B
Oh, that's hard. That would be hard. Not a Catch Edge Mobile, too. Anyways.
A
Mobile.
B
What is Go Rusty Media Monkey. What are these going on?
A
You must be telling me, like, three people total.
B
Well, I'm at the bottom now.
A
Yeah.
D
Media Monkey.
B
But I know you. You're seeing these here and you're saying three people, but serious, XM has been 31 people over the last five days. Okay, so not many. Not many. But there's somebody. There's somebody.
A
Somebody. Or maybe two or three people are doing it.
B
Well, I don't. I want them to keep doing it. I don't want them to be snipped because there's another one called snipped. That's the only reason why I inserted snip.
A
If you're circumcised.
B
Yeah. The vasectomy app also gets, you know, snip D. There's that. Snipped.
A
I can't wait for the start of tomorrow show when Taz says snipped and monkey catcher. Listeners, this is for you.
B
What is Apple Core Media? That's a decent amount on Apple Core Media. There's a decent amount.
A
It must just be Apple related somehow.
B
You'd think so, yeah.
A
All right, well, shout out to all our Zune listeners as well.
B
Hold on. There's a lot of people listening on unknown app. Can't track that.
A
All right, we'll call it there. Congrats again to all the Knicks fans headed to the NBA Finals. We will be here tomorrow, though, to talk about game five of the Western Conference finals. Pivotal game five. Gonna be a big one tonight there on NBC. So we'll be here at 10am Eastern. Hope you join us live. If not, you're downloading and listening to the podcast platform of your choice. You got a million to pick from Deezer. That's right. So until then, Clipper Bros. You heard it here first.
D
Have a great time. Turn up.
A
Love you guys.
D
Awesome.
B
Thanks for joining us. And remember, Olympiacos won the Euroleague. Just want to mention a bunch of the guys that play for Olympiacos because sometimes.
A
Oh, I know one.
B
Who?
A
Corey Joseph.
B
Corey Joseph.
D
Yeah.
A
He's one of the rare people to win an NBA title and the Euroleague title. Hey, it's not many. He's the first Canadian definitely to do it and one of a handful of people, maybe 10 plus.
B
Yeah, that's one. Evan Fournier. Tyler Dorsey, Sasha Vazenkov, Thomas Waka, Sasha vez.
A
This is a good team. Yeah, this is good.
B
I'm Fortnite, man. That's. That's closest. Papa Nikolao. Nikola Milutinov. We've seen him play international ball.
A
Yeah, he's good. Wow.
B
Alec Peters. Not really familiar with his work, but that's. That's the. That's the.
A
Basically, this team could win an Eastern Conference final series maybe next year.
B
Yeah, maybe.
D
That's a good team.
B
Yeah.

No Dunks Podcast — “Party Like It’s 1999! The Knicks Are Headed To The NBA Finals”
iHeartPodcasts | May 26, 2026
The No Dunks crew — J.E. Skeets, Tas Melas, Trey Kirby, and JD — react to the New York Knicks’ dominant sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers to reach their first NBA Finals since 1999. The hosts dissect how the Knicks dismantled the Cavs, celebrate Jalen Brunson's Eastern Conference Finals MVP, and analyze New York’s remarkable chemistry and playoff run. They also dive into Cleveland’s impending offseason decisions and preview what’s next in the Western Conference Finals. Later, they hit on fun side notes: shoe talk, Knicks celebrity fans, courtside ticket drama, and quirky All-NBA ballot choices.
| Timestamp | Speaker | Quote | |-----------|---------|-------| | 04:01 | JD | “Cavs had six good minutes in them. They saw the Knicks were ready to play for 48 and it was 1, 2, 3. Cancun.” | | 07:00 | Skeets | “Then the Knicks just started throwing alley oops to Mitchell Robinson. That was my favorite sequence.” | | 13:23 | Skeets | “Brunson didn’t have to play in the fourth quarter, but he averaged 26 points and eight assists and was instrumental in the Game 1 comeback.” | | 16:05 | Skeets | “Got to give it up to James Dolan… By all accounts, spearheaded the firing of a very popular coach in Tom Thibodeau… Then you hire Mike Brown, he didn’t change anything for 89 games then was like, what if everybody touches the ball?” | | 18:51 | Trey | “Not with new Carl out there. Carl, I’m loving this guy. Passes the ball. He’s got that deep voice. He plays defense. He does literally everything that everyone wanted from Karl-Anthony Towns from the first 10 years of his career, but he locked in, and it completely changed the way the Knicks look.” | | 29:05 | Trey | “Timothée Chalamet had to get so famous from the time he, like, met Landry Fields and Amare Stoudemire outside of an opera. He had to get so famous that he gets a second row [playoff seat]." |
The podcast captures both the elation around the surging Knicks and the daunting questions facing the Cavaliers. The hosts combine incisive basketball analysis with No Dunks’ signature lightheartedness, peppering the show with playful debate, NBA lore, and inside jokes about celebrity row, shoe game, and even SiriusXM podcast stats.
