Welcome to Design youn Strongest year ever, a 26 day special edition of the nonprofit Mastermind podcast. I'm your host, Rukruchi Babbage. I created this series because I believe that how your year ends is determined by what you do now in August, not in November. My work is rooted in the idea that intentional design, not more hustle, is what determines how far your mission can scale. So every day I'll share one very simple but very powerful lesson shift or tool you can use right now to prepare yourself for year end and for each one. If you sign up for the emails that go with these episodes, I've created a worksheet or prompt. You can collect them as you go and have a whole bundle. Finally, if the day's topic hits a nerve, I'll point you towards the most relevant of my implementation toolkits. For the length of this series, I'm offering 26% off all purchases. Let's dive in Ever notice how busy and productive start to feel the same right around November or December? But here's the thing. They're not the same. Busyness without clarity isn't productivity, it just leads to burnout. Your team comes to you feeling depleted and frazzled. Everyone is working hard, no one is slacking, but somehow you're not feeling like you're making progress. Often the problem is that people in your team are spending too many hours on the wrong thing. They are busy without being productive. This is just like one of the organizations in my next level NonProfit program. The ED came to one of the coaching sessions to talk about where she was going to find the money to hire someone new because balls were dropping and her team was just under capacity. What we found when we diagnosed the real problem was that what they really needed was to pick one clear finish line. The people on her team were amazing and they were working hard, but they weren't clear about which of their goals mattered most, what they could let go of and what they should be prioritizing what they should be doing and in what order. So they were doing a lot of things, but a lot of them were the wrong things. So here's what to do at your next team meeting. You can do this in under 20 minutes. Pull out your year end goals and ask the group what exactly does success look like by December 15th? What are the three most important things that I need to do to help achieve these goals and what in my to do list or task list? Is it okay or should I deprioritize when my time is limited? You want each person in the group to ask themselves these questions. Let the people answer. And what you're looking for is are all of them defining success the same way? Right? Are they naming the same goals organizationally as a team? And do they have a clear sense of what they should be focusing on? And do they know what they have permission to let go of, right? Or what they actually need to let go of? And if you find that you have an underlying lack of clarity, your next step is to use my Reset your North Star toolkit to walk you and your team through assigning your year end goals to one of three buckets. Keep, pause or let go. You can reset your entire year end in under two hours if you're signed up. For the emails that go along with this podcast series, I'm sharing a special gift today.
