Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Jeanine Hurst. Protests over the shooting death of 37 year old Renee Good by an ICE agent in Minneapolis this week continue in Minnesota and and around the country. Immigrant rights groups say hundreds of demonstrations are planned this weekend from New York to Minneapolis to Portland, Oregon, where two people were shot by federal officers this week. Meanwhile, three of Minnesota's Democratic members of Congress were turned away from the ICE detention center in St. Paul today. The visit from the lawmakers comes as Homeland Security has upped its presence in the Twin Cities following Good's death. Minnesota Public Radio's Clay masters reports.

Democratic U.S. representatives Ilhan Omar, Angie Craig and Kelly Morrison were initially allowed into the facility, but Omar says it was not long before officials said they were no longer allowed access to the building.

The shootings happened at three different locations. Moore has a preliminary hearing on Monday. There's no word on a motive as President Trump claims he will take over Greenland one way or another. Political leaders of the strategically located island, a semi autonomous region of Denmark, say they don't want to join the U.S. terry Schultz reports.

The leaders of Greenland's political parties issued a joint statement demanding that, quote, the United States disregard for our country must come to an end. The political chiefs said Greenlanders will decide our country's future ourselves without pressure to make hasty decisions, without delays imposed from outside and without external interference. We do not wish to be Americans. They went on. We do not wish to be Danes. We wish to be Greenlanders. In a survey conducted last week for Danish news organization Ricau, nearly 4 out of 10 Danes responded that they believe the US will launch an invasion of Greenland during Trump's term. In Iran, Internet and phone lines are apparently still down as widespread protests continue over economic issues. Dozens have been killed, more than 2,300 detained. Iran's supreme leader warns protesters could face death penalty charges. President Trump says the US Will hit Iran hard if protesters are killed. This is npr. Bob Weir, co founder of the Grateful Dead, has died. He was 78 years old. According to a statement from his family, Weir died from underlying lung issues. Amperior's Isabella Gomez Sarmiento has more.

Bob Weir helped form one of the greatest American jam bands when he was only a teenager. As the youngest member of the Grateful Dead, he earned his dues through his cowboy guitar licks and throaty vocals. For decades, Weir and his bandmates transformed their improvisational, psychedelic sound from an output of San Francisco's hippie scene to a massively appealing subculture across the country and around the world. Weir stayed with the Dead until lead singer Jerry Garcia's death in 1995. He reunited with his bandmates repeatedly over the years, spurring new iterations that kept the Dead's explosive live shows running until the very end of his life. Isabela Gomez Sarmiento, NPR News.

The Washington National Opera is leaving the John F. Kennedy center for the Performing arts in Washington, D.C. the opera, which has been at the center since 1971, says it's leaving its residency there over worries about falling attendance and donations during President Trump's second term. The opera says new sites have been lined up in Washington for performances. Within weeks of starting his second term, Trump named himself chairman of the center and replaced the board with his hand picked selection. It's the latest in a string of artists canceling performances since Trump took over the center and added his name to the building. I'm Jeanine Herbst, NPR News, in Washington.
