Live from NPR News, I'm Dale Willman. Iran's parliament speaker has issued a warning to President Donald Trump. He said that any U.S. attack on Iran would lead to a strike against Israel by Iran. Trump has said on numerous occasions that he consider a strike on Iran if the government kills citizens who have been protesting government policies for the past two weeks. Protests are taking place around the country after an ICE agent shot and killed 37 year old Renee Goode in Minneapolis this week. Thousands of people marched in Minneapolis on Saturday. NPR Sergio Martinez Beltran says they are there to send a message to the Trump administration that Minnesotans don't want ICE agents in their city.

Residents here told me that they're sad, angry and hurt. And there's this feeling that this shooting could have the same effect and inflict as much trauma as the killing of George Floyd, which sparked some of the largest racial justice protests since the civil rights movement.

About 1,000 people held a mostly peaceful protest last night. 29 people were arrested though, for breaking windows. The U.S. central Command says U.S. forces have hit ISIS targets in Syria. And as NPR's Quil Lawrence reports, it's in response to the ambush last month in Syria that killed two American soldiers and one U.S. civilian.

A statement from U.S. central Command said that large scale strikes on multiple ISIS targets in Syria were conducted with partner forces. In the past, Kurdish fighters were the main US Ally in Syria. But the government in Damascus has now formally joined the fight against ISIS militants. Syrian officials say their security forces have arrested the military leader of ISIS operations in the Levant. The CENTCOM statement said the strikes are a continuation of the US Response to an attack last month in the Syrian city of Palmyra which killed Iowa National Guardsmen Sergeant Edgar Bryan Torres Tovar and Sergeant William Nathaniel Howard, along with their American civilian interpreter, Ayad Mansoor Saqat Quill Lawrence, NPR News.

Canada's former ambassador to the United nations is calling President Donald Trump's ambitions to take over Greenland problematic. As Dan Karpenschuk reports, he says the Trump administration is more interested in stealing resources than a national security concerns.

Bob Wray says it's an obvious abuse of power, adding that he doesn't know why people are afraid to use the words. He says everything the president does has an economic component and he doesn't agree with Trump's view that Greenland is crucial to both the US and the world's security. Wray, who was Canada's ambassador to the UN from 2020 to November of 2025, has says it's all about the interests of the US and of investors who are close to the president. He also describes Washington's actions as gunboat diplomacy, creating a crisis and then stealing resources. And Ray says any of Trump's concerns about national security could be handled through NATO. Any U.S. incursion would undermine U.S. credibility and damage the NATO alliance. For NPR News, I'm Dan Karpenschak in Toronto.

Officials in West Point, Mississippi, have charged a 24 year old man with murder after a shooting spree Friday night left six people dead. Police say Derek Amore shot his father, brother and uncle at one house before driving to two other locations to kill three other people. He was captured after an hours long search. Prosecutors say they plan to seek the death penalty. The music world is in mourning tonight with news of the death of Grateful Dead co founder Bob Weir.
