Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Windsor Johnston. A government official tells NPR that the Justice Department is investigating Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Fry. The official sought Ann anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly. NPR's Kat Lonsdorf reports.
Kat Lonsdorf (0:38)
Fry and Walsh, both Democrats, responded to the news in social media posts on X. Fry posted, quote, this is an obvious attempt to intimidate me for standing up for Minneapolis local law enforcement and residents. Waltz, also in a post on X, did not explicitly address the investigation, but said, quote, weaponizing the justice system against your opponents is an authoritarian tactic. The only person not being investigated for the shooting of Renee Good is the federal agent who shot her, referring to the 37 year old woman who was shot and killed by an ICE agent. That killing became a flashpoint for the simmering opposition to federal agents operating within the city and state. Kat Lahnsdorf, NPR News, Minneapolis.

A bipartisan delegation of US Lawmakers are in Denmark today as President Trump continues his push to take over the Danish territory of Greenland. At a press conference in Copenhagen, Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski called for dialogue between the U.S. denmark and Greenland.
Kat Lonsdorf (1:39)
I would encourage the Greenlandic people, keep those avenues of dialogue and partnership open.

Democratic Senator Chris Coons reinforced the importance of NATO.
Chris Coons (1:52)
I think I speak for every senator and House member here in that we deeply value NATO and that this 80 year old alliance, this partnership, has been absolutely critical to the United States security and prosperity and success.

Thousands of people are protesting in Copenhagen today, many of them carrying Greenland's flag in support of the self governing island. The Trump administration and a group of governors are pushing a plan they say would help protect residential customers from soaring electricity bills. NPR's Scott Horsley reports. The plan calls for power hungry data centers to cover a larger share of the cost.
