Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Jeanine Herbst. President elect Donald Trump's incoming borders are Tom Homan says the new administration is getting ready for large scale immigration raids in several cities next week. He says they'll take the handcuffs off ICE and let it do its job. Trump has called the raids a big priority, telling ABC News it's a priority to get the criminals out of the country. Homan says starting Tuesday, they'll go after people who are in the country illegally.

Well, we're telling ICE you're going to enforce the immigration law without apology. You're going to public, you're going to concentrate on the worst first, public safety threats first. But no one's off the table. If they're in the country illegally, they got a problem.

Trump's supporters are traveling from all over the country to be in the nation's capital for the new president's inauguration. But with wind chill temperatures forecast to come in well below freezing at the time of the swearing in, Trump announced it will be taking place indoors in the Capitol rotunda instead. The last time that happened was 1985 when it was 7 degrees Fahrenheit outside. At the time, President Ronald Reagan put his hand on the Bible in a packed standing room only rotunda. Trump said in a social media post he wanted to spare people from dangerous conditions and encouraged supporters to watch the proceedings from a large arena downtown. Tamara Keith, NPR News.
