In Washington, I'm Jeanine Herbst. There's a sense of relief in Europe after President Trump told the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, he won't pursue military force to take control of Greenland. Trump says he'll no longer impose additional tariffs on eight European nations. But NPR's Eleanor Beardsley reports there are concerns that the crisis is far from over.
C
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lok Rasmussen welcomed the fact that Trump now says he won't use force to capture Greenland, but warned that his expansionist ambitions remain intact. Speaking on French television, former NATO general Olivier de Bavan Shove remarked on Trump's disdain for Europe. He basically said, you are all in gre. We Americans do everything, and without us, you are nothing. Then, a few hours after his speech, Trump said he and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte have reached agreement on a framework of a future deal on Greenland. No details yet, though it does not apparently entail the US Owning the Arctic island. Eleanor Beardsley, NPR News, Paris.

In Texas, a jury acquitted former Robb Elementary School police officer Adrian Gonzalez of child endangerment in his response to the 2022 shooting. Spencer Cihawk with member station KEDT has more.
D
Former Uvalde police officer Adrian Gonzalez had been accused of 29 counts of child endangerment related to his response to the 2022 Robb Elementary School shooting. Defense attorney Nico LaHood spoke with reporters after the decision.
E
This is a long day coming for Adrian and his family, but we're humbled by the verdict. But we also know that there's families on the other side that are dealing with this new normal that they've had for three years, and they're still in pain. And so this was a disappointment for them.
D
So we acknowledge that the verdict ends the first attempt to hold a law enforcement officer criminally responsible for the delayed response to the shooting that killed 19 students and two teachers. For NPR News, I'm Spencer Chiak and.

Corpus Christi Health officials in South Carolina say the state's measles outbreak could continue for weeks or possibly months. The state's top epidemiologist, Linda Bell, says there are currently more than 530 people in quarantine and up to 33 in isolation and exposures at schools across the state. And she says they're expanding vaccine access, but that some people are still reluctant to be vaccinated.
F
We're not necessarily actively seeing people who are pushing back is another way to look at that is they're perhaps not accepting our guidance and accepting our recommendations.
B
She says cases have been identified at two universities in the state, 50 people quarantined at Anderson University and Clemson University has 34 people quarantined. US futures contracts are trading higher at this hour. Dow futures are up about 4/10 of a percent. You're listening to NPR News. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is expected to vote today to rescind its 2024 harassment guidance. As NPR's Andrea Hsu reports, the EEOC chair has long opposed parts of that guidance pertaining to gender identity.
G
As a commissioner, Andrea Lucas voted against the EEOC's 2024 harassment guidance. She found fault with the section that says that repeatedly calling somebody by a name or pronoun they no longer use or denying someone access to a bathroom are forms of harassment and therefore illegal discrimination. Still, it's not clear why. Lucas has called a vote to rescind the entire guidance, nearly 200 pages long, which also address harassment based on race, sex and age, among other protected characteristics. Craig Lean is with the employment law firm K and L gates.
F
95% of it is clear we should.
H
Be able to have guidance on that 95%, he says.
G
It shouldn't be a mystery how to comply with the law. Andrea Hsu, NPR News.

Millions of Americans are bracing for a potentially catastrophic winter storm. From New Mexico up through the Eastern seaboard. The National Weather Service says about 100 million people are under some type of winter weather watch, warning or advisory, although the final path of the storm and the total amounts of snow and ice aren't set yet. Forecasters, though, are warning people to get ready and say a foot or more of snow is possible in spots. The storm is expected to start tomorrow night and last through the weekend. I'm Jeanine Herbst, NPR News, in Washington.
