Live from NPR News, I'm Giles Snyder. Tensions last night at a town hall event hosted by Minnesota Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. Omari Omar was attacked by a man who used a syringe to spray an unknown liquid in her direction. At the time, she was responding to this month's fatal shootings of two U.S. citizens by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis.

Omar insisted on continuing to speak after security tackled and pinned the man to the floor. A statement from Omar's office says she is okay. The president man is in police custody. He's expected to face an assault charge. Omar is Somalia born American citizen and Minnesota's large Somali community has been a target of President Trump. During a speech in Iowa Tuesday, Trump said Omar does not love the United States. On Capitol Hill, Senate Democrats pledging to block a funding bill for DHS as the clock ticks closer to the government to a partial government shutdown. NPR's Barbara Spont reports on Democratic outrage over the fatal shooting of a second Minneapolis protester by border.

Current funding for many federal agencies runs out after Friday. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says five of the six funding bills are ready to go and should quickly pass. But he and Senate Democrats say they will not vote for the bill that funds the Department of Homeland Security as is.

But in the wake of ICE's abuses and the administration's recklessness, the Senate must not pass the DHS budget as currently written and must be reworked to rein in and overhaul ice.

NPR and other media outlets have reviewed a government assessment of Saturday's fatal shooting in Minneapolis of 37 year old Alex Preddy. The preliminary review contradicts initial Trump administration claims about the shooting. New York has dug out from nearly a foot of snow. Potential lethal conditions persist. Reporter Steve Kestenbaum says at least 10 people were found dead on the streets of the city over the last few days.

With temperatures forecasted to dip into the single digits several nights this week, Mayor Zoran Mamdani prioritized getting the homeless to shelter from the cold.

And this is NPR News. A judge in Virginia has blocked a Democratic redistricting plan aimed at countering Republican efforts prompted by President Trump. The judge in southwestern Virginia ruled yesterday that state Democrats failed to follow the correct legal or legislative steps for the plan to be put to vote. Republicans are calling the ruling decisive, but Democrats say they are still aiming to put the issue to a vote in April. UPS plans to slash 30,000 positions this year to cut costs and increase automation. This comes as the company continues to wind down its partnership with the retail giant Amazon. Marlon Hyde from member station WABE reports.

Atlanta based UPS is cutting another 30,000 operational positions and closing two dozen facilities this year. Nearly 50,000 jobs were cut last year to reduce labor costs. Meanwhile, UPS is reducing Amazon's volume, targeting $3 billion in savings. CEO Carol Tome said during Tuesday's earnings.
