In Washington, I'm Korva Coleman. A preschooler and his father who were arrested in Minneapolis and moved to detention in Texas are now back home. A federal judge ordered their release. Officials at the boy's school say federal agents used the boy as bait to lure other adults out of his home. For Minnesota Public Radio, Matt Sepik has more.

Liam Conejo Ramos was photographed wearing a blue hat with bunny ears and a Spider man backpack when masked ICE agents pulled him from his dad's car on January 20th after school. Local school officials say agents led the 5 year old to his front door and directed him to knock to see if anyone else was home. ICE flew the boy and his father, Adrian Conejo Arias, to a Texas detention center. In ordering their release Saturday, Judge Fred Beary called the move a perfidious lust for unbridled power that's bereft of human decency. Attorneys say the family from Ecuador is focusing on finding peace. They entered the US legally in 2024 to seek asylum, their lawyers said. For NPR News, I'm Matt Sepik in Minneapolis.

President Trump is sending mixed signals on his plans for Iran. This raises the possibility of either a military strike or negotiation. Meanwhile, Iran's leader is warning a U.S. attack could ignite a wider Mideast war. NPR's Greg Myhre reports.

The U.S. buildup in the region includes an aircraft carrier, multiple additional ships and dozens of warplanes. President Trump describes the force as an armada and says the strike would be much more forceful than the US Attack on Iran's nuclear facilities last June. Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, spoke Sunday, saying the Americans should know if they start a war this time, it will be a regional war. Iran was hard hit last summer, but still has missiles capable of striking US And Israeli targets in the region. Trump also says Iran wants a deal to avoid a conflict, but so far no negotiations have been announced. Greg Myhre, NPR News, Washington.

President Trump says this summer he'll close the performing arts venue, the Kennedy center in Washington, D.C. for two years. NPR Tamara Keith reports Trump wants to renovate the building.

Trump secured more than $250 million in funding for the work as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Until last night, Trump had never said anything publicly about having to close for construction. The closure is set to start July 4, pending approval from the board. In terms of what will be done, Trump has said it needs a new roof and new air conditioning. He called it a revitalization and complete rebuilding.
