Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Amy Held hours before a midnight deadline, US Tariffs on Mexico are on pause for one month after President Trump spoke with Mexico's president. For its part, Mexico says it will also pause tariffs on the US and reinforce its US Border to tamp down on drug trafficking. Trump says negotiations with Mexico continue and he looks forward to achieving a deal. Without providing details, he says he will speak again this afternoon with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The US tariffs on all Canadian and Chinese goods ranging from 10 to 25% are still on. But Ontario Premier Doug Ford tells Fox News he hopes calmer heads will prevail.

Netanyahu spoke to reporters before boarding a plane to Washington. He talked about the peace treaties with Arab countries that the last Trump administration helped broker. And he said Israel's war against Hamas in Gaza and against Iran and its other proxies have redrawn the map of the Middle East.
