In Washington, I'm Korva Coleman. Convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell is scheduled to answer questions today to a House committee. The deposition is to be virtual and private. Maxwell is serving 20 years in prison for helping late sex offender Jeffrey Epste. NPR's Scott Newman reports.
Scott Newman
Republicans on the House Oversight Committee have called on Maxwell to answer questions about Epstein, his crimes and the powerful people who associated with him, President Trump among them. They include politicians, entrepreneurs, academics and entertainers. Some lawmakers want to know the names of 25 men who Maxwell says in court papers entered into secret settlements and were not part of the Epstein investigation. But Maxwell is expected to invoke her Fifth Amendment right against self incrimination and may say little or nothing to the committee. Scott Newman, NPR News, Washington.

A federal judge is ordering the FBI to release records about its seizure of 2020 presidential election ballots in Georgia. NPR's Stephen Fowler has more.

The FBI has until Tuesday to publish a redacted copy of the affidavit it used to seize election material from Fulton County's elections office. The Saturday order comes after more than 650 boxes of election material were taken on January 28 with little public explanation. Fulton county is home to Atlanta and has been ground zero for conspiracies about President Trump's 2020 election defeat. There's no evidence of widespread fraud in elections, including the 2020 race, which concluded more than five years ago. Stephen Fowler, NPR News, Atlanta.

A new deadline is looming for the federal government. Funding will run out at the end of this week for the Department of Homeland Security and government will partially shut down. That's if Democrats and Republicans do not agree on new funding legislation for the agency they're supposed to be negotiating over the rules for federal immigration agents. This comes after federal immigration officers shot and killed two Minneapolis protesters last month. Not much progress is being reported between Democrats and the GOP on the issue. Demonstrators continue to turn out in Minneapolis to protest the federal immigration crackdown in that state. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Fry met with city business leaders over the weekend. He says the federal immigration operation is costing Minneapolis small businesses.
Stephen Fowler
Small businesses are experiencing a 10 to 20 million dollars loss every single week.

Andrea Corbin is a small business owner in Minneapolis. She says the federal immigration crackdown is also hurting large businesses, not just employees.

President Trump says that Democrats and Minnesota state and local leaders are to blame for the protests. You're listening to npr. American skier Lindsey Vaughn is resting in stable condition in an Italian hospital. The iconic skier had just started her alpine downhill event when she crashed and had to be flown off the mountain. She was hospitalized, where officials say she underwent surgery to address a fracture in her left leg. The Seattle Seahawks are again super bowl champions. They defeated the New England patriots last night, 2913. From member station KUOW, Kate Stone reports. This was a rematch many fans had been waiting for.

As the clock winds down, a roar goes up in this Seattle bar packed to capacity. A fierce battle of defenses in a rematch against the Patriots, who came out on top in Seattle's last trip to the Super bowl in 2015. That heartbreaking moment now a distant memory for lifelong fan Greg Sifferman.
Scott Newman
Absolute perfect ending to get it against New England and set everything right.

Fans spilling into the streets of downtown after the game ready to welcome the team and the Lombardi Trophy back to the Emerald City. For NPR News, I'm Kate Stone.

The big draw for the Super Bowl's halftime show was Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny. But at the same time, the conservative Turning Point USA Group offered competing entertainment. That show was headlined by Kid Rock and several country musicians. Some conservatives had lashed out at the NFL for selecting Bad Bunny, who performs in Spanish. Some wrongly labeled him a foreigner. Puerto Ricans are Americans. This is npr.
