Funding for the Department of Homeland Security is set to expire tomorrow as lawmakers debate new restrictions on President Trump's immigration enforcement agenda. The White House and Democrats failed to reach a deal by the deadline, as NPR Sam Greenglass explains.

We know that the White House produced a counteroffer Wednesday night. The White House is taking the lead on this with Democrats, but no one has really been willing to say what was in that offer. We do know that some of the Democrats demands are non starters for most Republicans, like requiring judicial warrants for many enforcement operations and banning officers from masking.

President Trump says he's moving a second aircraft carrier into the Middle east as he presses Iran to make a deal over its nuclear program. A 2009 EPA finding identified six greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide and methane, as public health threats and provided the foundation for the agency to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from several industries.
