Live from NPR News, I'm Giles Snyder. South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham says the recent protests in Iran suggest regime change is needed.
Senator Lindsey Graham
The best answer to all the problems created by Iran is regime change. The best answer is for the people to take the place of the ayatollah. I do not believe they're in the streets to build more nuclear weapons. I think they're in the streets to have a better life.

The gist of the forecast is we are expecting near record temperatures in the upper 60s to 70s, relative humidity values as low as 10 to 15%, and winds from the west gusting as high as 50 to 55 mph.

Rain has been pounding the Los Angeles region, flash flood warnings up and some areas scarred by last year's wildfires facing an evacuation warning. The powerful storm not only bringing thunderstorms and strong winds to Los Angeles, but heavy snow in the mountains. Forecasters expect extreme Sierra snow through late Wednesday. The US And Canada both advanced with victories in their semifinal matches. The U.S. defeated Sweden 5 to nothing. Canada had a tougher time, beating Switzerland 2 to 1. That sets up another U.S. canadian showdown in women's ice hockey. It will be the seventh time the two countries have met with Olympic gold on the line. U.S. forward Taylor Hisy says she can't wait.

It's an honor to be here and it's an honor to play on this team because they're so special and we know on Thursday we're going to show up and give our best.

This is NPR News. A manhunt in Indiana came to an end overnight. Authorities say the suspect wanted in connection with the shooting of two police officers is in custody. Earlier Monday evening, the police chief in Beech Grove, Indiana, said one of the officers died and that the other is in stable condition. The use of AI is sparking fierce debates within American journalism, and several recent incidents have brought those debates into public view. NPR's David Folkenflick reports that some news executives are eager to deploy AI.

At the Baltimore sun, an AI program wrote up a lengthy analysis of an address by Maryland Governor Wes Moore. The piece was clearly marked as generated by AI. It also wrongly referred to President Trump as the former president. The News Guild called it slop. Publisher and editor Trif Alatsis says future editors must be more thoroughly reviewed, but that quote to ignore this powerful tool would be a mistake. In Cleveland, the editor of the Plain Dealer writes that job applicants should expect I to draft articles from their original reporting. He says that frees up extra time for reporters at both papers. Humans edit the stories. Science and tech news site Ars Technica retracted a recent article that failed to disclose it relied on AI. The story included fabricated quotations.
